Right now Baxter has 2 boxes. I love to watch him try and squeeze his fat body into the little box.

Cat Boy has a flat square box. When he gets in, somehow he always has the flaps down. When you walk by, he jumps up like a Jack in the Box.

His favorite thing to do is to open and shut the big bottom drawer in the bathroom. It rolls out, thunk ... it rolls in, thunk ... repeat over and over. When my husband gets up yelling (because the bathroom cabinets are on the other side of our bedroom wall), Cat Boy gets in the drawer, pulls it shut behind him, and crawls in the hole that lets you get to the plumbing. You cannot reach him there without taking the drawer off the rollers and removing it. He waits until it's safe and starts over again!

I just finally got rid of the cardboard carrier that I brought my newest kitty home in from a shelter back in February. They all loved playing in it, but my house is small and I already have a lot of toys and things for them to play in so I don't think they'll really miss it.

Our lives can change with every breath we take.

My cats have lots - every trip to Costco yields new ones. They get chucked into the big room at the back of the house where several of the cats eat. Some of the cats think boxes are the best thing ever to pee on, so there's a constant rotation of boxes.

My current two are not box cats so none. At their age (will be 19 in November), they much prefer padded surfaces.

One of my cats would sit on a sheet of paper if it was laying out, that's how much he loved boxes. I am not sure how a sheet of paper equals a box but he acted the same on a sheet of paper as he did in a box - silly.

what is the fascination with cardboard boxes? we have one that had a saucepan in it originally, so there's round cutout wedge in the bottom that the perfect size for bianca to curl into. she's had this box for a while. then she gets ceral boxes (we get costco size) and we open the top and bottom so it's a tunnel - she loves that. but usually after a week or two she's ran through it they're failling apart so much we have to recycle them.

we also have a couple of brown paper grocery bags that she uses as cat caves during playtime. but really, bianca likes the reusable grocery bags the best and will pounce on them randomly (whether they're empty or not so getting stuff put away after a shopping trip is a rush job around here). she likes to wiggle into the shopping bags and will even let you carry her around in them for a little while... until she decides to attack the handles. i am glad she hasn't got into plastic bags since that's what we use as garbage liners.

I brought home the coolest box ever. We had a banana box (a cardboard box with the hole in the bottom) at work. I was going to toss it, then decided to bring it home to put paper recycling in.

So....I put the box on its side. Precious gets inside the box and looks out the hole in the bottom. She waits for Bodhi to walk by and whaps him through the hole. She's got a fort and can ambush her brother! What fun!

My poor deprived cats have no cardboard boxes right now. They love them though. My biggest cat, Shutley, will try to get into any box that we have. He's tried to lie in shoe boxes and it's so funny because he spills out over the top. He will act like it's very comfortable. I have one cat, Winkie that likes to eat cardboard. He makes a mess. They act like it's a real treat anytime we bring a box in the house. Funny cats.

Haha my cat also prefers grocery bags. I try to use as little plastic as possible these days, I bring totes. But I'll bring a plastic bag home every now and then and she likes to lay on them. She claws at them too but she mainly just lays on them. She's weird. :)

I have one medium to large cardboard box for the cats toys. Paper of any sort and bags, Peanut will demolish!

At the moment I'm fostering 3 kittens about 2-3 weeks old and love the cardboard box I gave them! I named them Daisy, Bella and Emma. When they're old enough to be fixed and healed, I'll be giving them back to PetSmart emoticon . Wish I could keep them.

Christmas or birthdays are hysterical around here. My cats get right in the middle of the empty boxes, and roll and pounce into the wrapping paper. I have to watch out for any ribbon, as one of the boys loves to chew and swallow ribbon, and then throw it up.yick!

They have several cardboard boxes.
Sometimes I stack them to vacuum and leave them put up for a few days; when I take them back out it's pandemonium.
Sometimes I'll spread them all over and throw a sheet and/or a thin painting tarp over them to make a "fort"; I would say they like that the best ... I don't know which cat is having more fun ... the 1 in the fort or the 1 on the outside.
Sometimes I'll put them open side down; 1 cat will sit on top & slap around the 1 sitting on the ground.
Of course, sometimes I'll put little toys in the box.

So nice to hear about others that keep boxes around for their kitties! Right now I have one in the living room - 2 in the spare room - each with a towel in it (Very popular) and one in the bedroom - also with a towel in it. Yup, they sure do love these boxes.

Jazz has a tunnel that she uses to hide in and she has made herself a very private hiding place by removing part of the dust cover from my bed she crawls in and it cradles her like a hammock. She is so funny! She get's in behind my shoes and sleeps or if she is really feeling like hiding she gets in behind our antique radio. She loves boxes but we don't keep them around much.

That is too funny Tracy! They drag them out!

I forgot about one. It sits on the dining room table, and basically it's BeBop's. He sleeps in it, and then there's my recycle box under my desk that he'll sometimes get in. So that makes 6 permanent ones, and the others will eventually go.

For a few moments I was wondering if you were talking about litter boxes!

At present, since I have moved recently, the cats are joyous with so many boxes around to scratch, hide in, and have general kitty ruckus!

Maintaining.

We don't have any that are out for long. When we get a box Max gets to play with it for a while. He's the only one that REALLY likes boxes.

Since cats love boxes, at the moment, mine have four permanent ones in the living room. Two are connected, one inside the other, creating kind of a hiding place. The other two I have crinkle paper in, with a sheet on top so they can go in and out, and play hide and seek with each other, and me.

Until it's time to use them, they have one other one in the dining room, and one in their room. When they were kittens, we created the "galaxy". Took four 12-pack pop boxes and one square box. Cut holes in the four sides of the square box, inserted each of the pop boxes into a square, taped them in, and that gave them a tunnel to run through. They used it until they were about a year old (they're now 2-1/2) so we had to give it up, but it sure was fun while they were little.
