A great day for exercise today! 40 minute walk followed by 40 minutes of swimming. Then, since I was working from home today, I was able to get in 4 hours on the treadmill desk. Went 8 miles, and with the elevation I burned about 1000 extra calories. Have a great Friday!

We went yesterday and it was a lot of fun. I posted the wrong trail name before - it was the Kachina trail we went on just north of Flagstaff. The dogs are still pretty tired today and have been snoozing away. The trail was fairly easy. The most challenging parts for the dogs were getting around a really rocky area but they have good scrambling technique and managed like champs. We took plenty of water and even some food because I had no idea what they would need. My girl wouldn't drink water until we got back to base and then she drank her body weight. My boy paced himself throughout. He also kept stopping in the shady parts although the temps were great - low 80s in the sun, downright chilly in the shade. I would take them again in a heartbeat.

I'm going on the Kaibab trail on Sunday with my dogs. I've never hiked that trail and I've never hiked with my dogs so I'm excited. If anyone has suggestions on hiking with dogs or that particular trail, I'd love to hear them. I read in Phoenix magazine that Kaibab was a really good trail for dogs.

Another 1750 yards of swimming yesterday, but just an easy walk today. Tomorrow will be an easy bike ride, and then the Glendale Community College F1 Sprint Triathlon is on Sunday.

Wow on the swimming! I haven't been able to get my husband motivated to swim at the gym and if he doesn't go, I don't go. We went two or three times the ENTIRE summer! Oh well. I did do a lot of jazzercise and walking. I'm so glad we're getting a weather break!

I'm going to sign up for the team challenge! See you there!!

I did a 2 mile walk this morning before my swim lesson. The swimming went well, and I did a total of 1500 yards. Altogether about 70 minutes of exercise today.

Well, I only got a fifteen responses to my email about who was active. The team page says there are more than 2800 people on the team. Hopefully we can get a simple challenge started and maybe some more folks will get interested. So, here it is: let's see if we can all do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise at least three times a week in September. I don't know how active all of you are, but this will give us a good baseline. As part of the challenge, please post a reply to this thread for each of your workouts. I'll try and keep track and see how many of us are achieving the goal. Have a great September in Scottsdale!

How about a challenge to try one new thing every week and report about it? Doesn't matter if its a new recipe, a new food or a new exercise, a change in exercise routine, anything would work. So that would be four things to try before the end of the month. What do you think?
