I like the hot summer conditions. I sweat a lot and it makes me feel like I am makeing some gains.
Another reason, is that when I am sweating in the heat, I seldom pull or tear muscles. For what ever reason my stretching before a workout does not mean I won't cause an injury. That is the main reason for wanting to work out in the summer.I work out in a gym and I have a stationary bike and weights in the backyard.Sometimes during the week. I'll got to the backyard and do a couple sets of lifts or ride the bike for 30 minutes just to loosen things up and feel good. I save the serious rides on the stationary bike for the gym. I find it annoying to try to work outside with the beautiful farm smells in the night air, thus the reason for a gym membership.

rooti--the malls have information about walking loops? That would be cool...especially in the summer. I'll have to check that out.

There isn't a huge difference between summer & winter in regards to my working out. Either way I prefer to do it inside. Ironically, it's been in the middle of summer that I started walking outside for the first time ever. Though I will admit that I do it after the sun has gone down. :)

It is too hot. Another place to walk is in the mall. It is free. If you walk both levels of Superstition Mall, I think it is about 2.5 or 3 miles. There is information on the first floor at the customer service area.

Quoted from Spark Coach Dean
" The important thing is to start where you are right now, and keep moving in the direction you want to go."

Thanks! I completely forgot about their jogging/walking track at Freestone Rec Center. I will remember that next week when it starts to heat up again. For this weekend, I will be back at Freestone Park in the mornings. emoticon

Freestone has a wonderful Indoor Track, they have three lanes. Walk,Jog,Run and it is above ground so that you can be out of everyones way. It is only 2.50 per day or a low monthly fee (includes gym fee) Daycare is 2.oo per day for 1 1/2 hours. would be fun.

I was walking every evening after work for an hour over at Freestone Park but now that it is getting hot I'm not going to be able to do that. I hear that Superstition Springs mall has a walk program so I will be checking into that. Anybody have any other suggestions?

I do feel in trouble more in the Az summer, I find it harder to go out and ride my bike since I have family obligations when it is finally cool at around 7-8pm, also I ony have about an hour per day to spend with my husband before he goes to bed at Nine, so I find myself only playing the wii fit plus IF my kids rest during the day. Plus my new home has all ceramic tile, so not so comfy to lay down and do crunches etc...So I would also like some ideas.

Summer is almost here...
Families start letting their kids play later at night when its cool, we stop using our ovens, and do more things indoors...
So do you find that summer helps or hinders your weightloss routines?
When its 115 outside, I find it harder to have energy to exercise, or when I'm driving and I run out of water, I may go throught he drive thru and get a tea or soda.
I prefer to make pasta salads and convenient meals to keep my electric bills down.
So do you find that summer creates more challenges for you?
How do you all handle the summer months with meals, exercise, routines?
emoticon

People will forget what you said, and people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel....so make a difference!
