There is emerging evidence that weight is determined by genetics as much as height or hair color. Some people have a higher weight set-point than others.

Also, yo-yo dieting can screw up your metabolism, causing your body to reset the natural set-point to a higher weight. Because when you diet, your body thinks it's going through a famine period, and when you go off the diet it reworks itself to make sure it has enough resources to survive the next "famine" period.

I don't know if you've had your doctor check you out for everything possible. If he has and still says nothing is wrong, it may be time to re-evaluate why you're trying to lose weight. You said you did cheerleading in high school, and did 75 minutes of cardio 4x a week. It sounds to me like you were very FIT and HEALTHY, things which are not always indicated by being thin. If you're simply trying to fit into a media-induced ideal of beauty, you're simply going to end up frustrated.

I realize this is odd advice from someone on a weight-loss site, but I am an odd person emoticon with a slightly skewed view of how things should be. So take me with a grain of salt, if you will.

Hey there and welcome to this forum!! I was wondering - have they tested you for insulin resistance? Just curious since that can toy with your weight! I have pcos and insulin resistance and have had an issue all my life. Just wondering if they ruled that out :)

I really need help losing weight. I have always been active (i was even cheerleader in H.S.) but I have always been heavy. i have tried everything except starving myself, only because I get headaches if I don't eat. My doctor said it's not my thyroids and there is nothing wrong with me. I used to do 75 mins of cardio 4 days/wk but gave up because the weight wasn't coming off.
Now I'm trying again after gaining another 25 pounds since April of this year. My goal is to loose 100 pounds by Oct 2009.
