I agree-the whole idea of going ON a diet, means that eventually you will be going OFF the diet. So, if you want to lose slowly, eat like everyone else, and stay with it forever, then it has to be reasonable, and doable, and give you plenty of choices to keep you satisfied. Then, you can just eat that way forever. After trying every diet there is, I know that if you are going to stop it at some point, then forget it, it won't work. As soon as you start eating "normally" again, you gain back everything you lost plus more!

I agree with Annabelle. I would have given the same advice. Every time I start feeling bad about myself and the fact that I can't just be "normal" and not track or exercise all the time, I end up gaining weight. I've been on a gain/loss roller coaster and I've realized that this has to be a continuous thing. So, no foods are off limits and I even allow a cheat day here and there. Hang in there, you can do it!

Feeling like that has always been my downfall- exactly how each and every one of my countless weight lose journeys has ended. This time I started with a plan. Nothing is off limits, there are no "bad" foods. Sure, there are better choices but making things good and bad or normal and diet (or whatever) was making me want off limits things more.
So if I want something, I am going to have it and log it- that's important too. its easy to "cheat" and just not log it, because if its not logged, then it didn't happen right.
My goal at this point is to eat 80% better/20% lets say questionable instead of bad :) And to log every bite.

I have totally felt like that! There are times that I just have to take a break and be a little more "normal". I don't eat as well or I take breaks from exercise. It may be a couple days or a couple weeks. I do try to maintain my weight and use that as a gauge. When I start gaining, that usually let's me know it's time to return to better eating and exercising. I recently just ended a break which resulted in a weight gain of about 13 pounds, but there were other factors at play outside of eating poorly and exercising. I was willing to accept what came with it (the regained weight). I am now back on track and have lost a couple pounds already. Don't be too hard on yourself. "Normal" people aren't perfect all the time either. It's normal for all of us. Here's to a healthier future. Happy Sparking!

In the past I have done well but then I get to a point where I don't want to track what I eat. don't want to count calories. don't want to work out. I want to be "normal" and eat like normal people. I get angry because I feel as if I'm being deprived so I justify being overweight. this was a new experience for me. has anyone ever felt like this and what did you do to get past those feelings?
