I agree with Turtleraskin, I also saw a change in my face and neck after 24lbs lost but the stomach area LOOKS like it has not changed but my pants are falling down now and every week I put a new hole in my belt, with out issue my waist is shrinking. Weight loss takes time and none of us got here over night! KKeep pushing!!!!

If you have gone down a size you ARE different, I am betting its because you are doing it the healthy way and losing at a reasonable pace. Its harder to see that way, and i have to tell you i can never see it on myself. Just keep doing what you are doing..if your clothes are looser who cares what the scale says!!

First of all, congrats on 20 pounds gone. That's great!

Second, worry less at this point about how you look and more about how you feel; how you look will catch up. When I lost the first 20 pounds, I saw no difference in me, although my pants were a bit looser. No one else noticed anything. Somewhere between 20 and 30 pounds, however, my face began to thin out. Between 30 and now, clothes have become very strange in how they fit, and weird places on my body thin out. And EVERYONE (except my dad) notices.

Which is to say -- give it some more time. If you're like me, you may find that it's in the next ten pounds that you'll begin to see a big difference. So keep going -- you've got a great start!

I started out a lot higher than you, and for me it took 50 pounds to see it. It really wasn't till a few months later...and more weight off...and down several sizes ...where I could see it all the time. Even now, on occasion, I look at a picture and wonder if I've lost weight at all.

Give yourself time, you are doing well.

Sometimes it's all a matter of perception. If you can't visualize yourself being successful, you won't see it. Maybe your clothes are just fitting looser giving an illusion of being bigger? If you're feeling better, eating better and your clothes are fitting better, I say just ignore the scale for a while. I know I can fluctuate pretty wildly sometimes.

There are some weeks when I wait 2 weeks to weigh in for the reason you are referring to. It can be very discouraging to watch the scale daily as our weight continues to fluctuate. I do agree that as long as you are feeling better, exercising, eating right and drinking water eventually the scale will follow. Don't be discouraged - keep up the great work :)

I have seen a lot of posts about dumping the scale for a while if it is showing such crazy jumps that you are describing. I say go by the cloths and how you feel. Pictures can't always be the best either! I like the close ups; our bodies are changing and they may do wierd things for a while. I know since I turned 40 that has happened; A LOT!!

So, are you feeling good? Are you eating better? Are you drinking and getting your exercise in? If yes, good for you. Who cares what a scale says! You have to work from the inside. Don't let the scale and pictures get in the way of your success. It is a great way to just say whats the point. DON"T do it! You have lost 20, you can keeping working it! It might just take time.

Good luck and keep motivated! Annabelle

So the scale says I've lost 20 pounds. I've gone from a size 20 to an 18, but I look fatter in pictures. Its very discouraging. I gained 11 pounds in less than 2 days from urinary retention but lost 7 of it today and the rate I'm going the other 5 will be gone in the am-my 18's still fit comfortably.I've lost over 100 before more than 50 twice and who knows how many times I lost 20 pounds or more. I'm a lifer when it comes to yo yo diets. In the past I have also seen a difference so have others. But this weigh loss it different it really is not showing, Is this normal?

Everyday is a new beginning.
