I think it can be done if you're extremely committed and consistent. If you want it badly enough to be very disciplined, it can happen for you.

I'd love to do it myself, but I'm not setting it as a definite goal because I don't want to set myself up for failure. I've tried and failed so many times before - I'm done with that. Realistically, I'm shooting for half that much. 50 lbs in a year. That's about a pound a week. If I lose more than that, I'll be thrilled!!

Welcome Cbacon0 You can do it!

That is my goal too. We can all do this! I need to keep my eye on the prize and every time I make a good decision I need to pat myself on the back. Make small goals to reach it helps. It is going to be hard work but it will be so worth it in the end.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and am going to try and lose 100 lbs by next February. I want to lose this weight for my grandson, would love to be able to go outside and play with him without having to catch my breath or run out of breath. Would also love to be able to walk long distances without the lower part of my back hurting all the time. Also have to lower my blood pressure....just would love to have a healthy, happy life. By joining Spark People I know I can accomplish my goals. emoticon

Hi Meg,
Thats my goal this year as well. I want to lost about 113 by next Valentines Day. I have over 200 pounds to lose to reach my goal of 150 pounds. I am 47 so its going to be interesting. But I know we can do it if we stay focused. But we have to be patient with ourselves and not get frustrated. Wishing you the best. Hugs, Jenny

I did 75 in about 9 months, then hit a wall. It takes lots of work and patience to keep going when the scales don't move but eventually they do and I reset my expectations. Yes, YOU CAN DO IT!

It's possible; I think I'm on track to doing it myself this year. BUT as someone else said, it's hard work (lots of exercise, tracking, and sp time for me) and it's just as hard mentally. Possible, but I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't get there. I'm really just shooting to "have a good week" each weigh in, and I've broken down my goals into mini successes (every 5, 10, %, former high weights, etc)

I believe it is possible and am shooting for it myself. In 5.5 months I've lost 73#. Lest that sound easy know that I work out 1.5 hours daily (between cardio and ST) and I never go over my calories. I track every thing I do and eat. I try new recipes to learn healthier cooking habits and to avoid prepared, processed foods. That takes a lot of time for food prep. In summary, how bad do you want it? I want it bad. I'm beginning a new career and my nest is emptying so I'm learning to live for myself a bit more. To me, the intensity is worth it. What about you?

I shoot for 5 pounds at a time. 100 in a year is 2 a week..yes it can be done but please be gentle with yourself. you will lose more some weeks and less others. It has taken me 3 years to lose 50..the older i get the harder it is for me to take off, as i yo yo'd for years. Others find it easy. Hope you are one of the ones that finds it easy!!
We are here to help..just ask!!!

its going to take everything you have and then some. It took me about 3 years. Some do it in less time but you had better be prepared to do what you have to for as long as you need to. to lose that kind of weight is just as much mental as it is physical. it takes desire, consistancy and an unwavering desire to see it through.

I think with hard work and consistency it is possible.
