What the army recruiters told me and my hubby when he was joining was that they WELCOME army couple teams who join and work together for the same goal. So if you feel that's what you need to do for you and your family then GO FOR IT! Don't let what others say or think deter you. What matters is that you & your hubby feel right about it.

@LOTTECHAR1--I say forget the FRG, you don't have to go. I don't go and that is one reason why I don't go. You should not have to feel that way. They are suppose to life you up, not bring you down.
And as for your husbands friends making you feel that your not being the wife you should be? Well what kind of wife are they? The kind that sits on their patoose all day gossiping or out spending the money they could be using to pay off bills?
I am a stay at home wife. I work at home, but right now, I'm just going to school and taking care of our home. When my husband retires, I will be working while he goes to school. It works for us.
It's really no body elses business what you do or what "kind" of wife you are being, unless you are not being rational and doing something totally stupid, otherwise, ignore them and keep on, keepin on!

Thanks ladies!! I am so psyched to have enlisted, I am as well going to OCS in June after I leave for basic in March. Im so excited to start this leg of my journey. I just hate taking criticism from my husbands friends and my mother in law, I think she feels like I am stealing my husbands glory or something because he is enlisted and Im trying for OCS.

If it's something that you want to do, you should be allowed to have a career as well. Who's to say that army wifes aren't allowed to do anything but be a "good wife"??
I am an registered nurse, and now that we have moved I had to quit my job, and now with my husbands crazy hours and soon to be deployment, I feel like I have lost part of myself. I LOVE LOVE having this time with my kids and only worked part time before so that my kids were number one...but now I feel that I don't get ANY time for my career, which i love.

What I'm saying is....good for you for making a decision for you- because many times this is something that we don't do...and the other ladies are right...the only opinions that matter are yours and your hubbies. ;-)

Good for you!! I have been a military wife for eight years!! My husband is in a warrior transition unit in Ft.Riley. He is getting help for his ptsd and his TBI!! Once he is out of the military and I finish my degree...I am going OCS. I would join before he gets out, but we have three small babies!! I think you are amazing!! Good for you!! You can be both!!

Hey I feel as long as you can pull your own weight rock on with your bad self. There is nothing wrong with joining the Army. The question should be how do you feel and how does your husand feel?

Hello Army Wives!! I have been an Army wife for almost five years now :) I recently joined the Army myself. Im getting mixed reviews. Many of my FRG pals make me feel like I am intruding on my husbands ground.. and many of my husbands friends feel I am not being the "wife" I should be.. what do you think
