I love the Race for the Cure...it was my first 5K race ever so it holds a spot near and dear in my racing heart :0) However. My oldest daughter now plays soccer on Saturdays and she has a game the same day as the race. It is more of a scrimmage than an official game so I'm considering signing up for the race anyhow and just watching as much of the game as I can.....

Is anyone doing the Race for the Cure next month?

Mt. Ascension is one of my favorite places to hike...close to town (and work for that matter!) and usually not a ton of people. emoticon

I generally workout at home,,but when the weather is nice were out hiking all over the area! There are some beautiful trails really close to town. Of course there's Mount Helena but we also stomp around in the Scratch Gravel Hills,,Grizzly Gulch,,,Davis Gulch. If your looking for something more flat for walking or jogging Spring Meadow has a nice path. For health clubs the most recent place I worked out in was Fuel. My daughter worked there so I went a few times. I liked it,,very nice,,clean,,friendly people. Didn't take any classes, but I know they have a few. Hope this helps :)

Good to know! I think most of the gyms in town offer a trial period or at least will give you a tour of the facilities. I will be in the market for a gym in May so it's nice to hear about people's experiences.

Good point about the number of people. I saw that when I went to the YMCA as well. Everyone so "gung ho" to work out - and by March, the levels drop off a lot.

I workout in my living room, lol or run outside. BUT my BFF loves Capital City and from what she says about it they have some really great (and challenging) group fitness classes / yoga. I hear that there has been a surge in people after the new year and occassionally it is hard to get on the machines (but I suspect that is just about all gyms this time of year with New Years Resolutioners). My hair dresser has a membership to Capital and Fuel (don't ask!) and she actually perfers the atmosphere of Fuel better.

I say try the free trial and then maybe do the same at a couple other gyms for comparison.

:0)

They have three sets of weight machines. One is for beginners, then the standard machines with the selectable sliding weights and pin and finally the weight machines with the changeable plates. I love the different cardio machines. Stair step (with moving stairs), standard stair step, upright and recumbent bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and these multi-movement ellipticals. Three pools - stretching area - cycling room - and all the free weights. There are two rooms for classes.
Schedule a walk through and check it out. I like it!

Thank you so much for a reply!!

That is one of the places I've been looking in to! A friend of my boyfriend works there and he told me that the student rates are $35/ month and it is the nicest gym in town. I have decided I am going to do that 7-day free trial of it in a couple weeks (a week I don't have any tests so I can make full use of it).

Do you like it? Is it worth the money? It's about $10 more per month than the other gyms in town, even with my discount, so I want to be sure it is a worthwhile investment :P And do you know what kind of equipment they have, strength training wise? I can't find much info on their website :P I see they have a lot of benches and free weights, but for machines, do you know what all they have? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but choosing the right gym is really important for me and the gym looks SO NICE.

I go to Capital City Health Club in Helena. It's about $50/month - but even on very busy days, the guy seems open and not crowded. I enjoy the varied types of equipment they have.

Wondering where my fellow capitol-dwellers are :) I know there are some of you!

Do you guys belong to a gym in town? If so, do you mind sharing where/what the price is/what you like or don't like about it?
