Worked in the yard most of the day. Got 3 barrels of weeds pulled. More bedding plants in the ground and my 3 long containers of coleus (that I found in Great Falls on my way through headed home from my VA doctor's appointment on Monday) planted and next to the gate in the shade. They are little now but will be wonderful color in another month! Finished up by mowing the lawn. It looks good and ready for the storm (which I think is going to hit east of us).

Much cooler tomorrow. Hopefully I can get my window air conditioners in. It's just too hot to sleep without putting fans in the windows and the noise annoys me!

Both dogs need a bath from their digging ventures today and I need to get my dirty, sweaty hair washed so I'm off to do that. Another night I might be asleep before 2?!!

Had a really productive day yesterday going through kitchen cabinets finding things to donate to the upcoming rummage sale at the Senior Center! So much accumulated over the years, lots I will never use again. Feels good to empty a cupboard and wipe it down and put in fresh shelf liner. I think it's been over 10 years since I did a really thorough job. Will keep it up today! Have 2 moveable cabinets that are in need of paint!

I can't get over how quickly it all greened up and how many yards are filled with dandelions here. I love dandelions. They are the first bunch of flowers most kids present to their Moms. They are so bright yellow. You can mow over them, they lay down and pop right back up with the sun the very next day. I live in an old neighborhood that is now mostly rentals for college kids so the yards are not well taken care of. I am against spraying poison of any kind of the lawn - and really, what would be the point if everyone else on the block lets theirs go to seed?

So I just appreciate the little buds of sunshine, plucking off the flowers to save in the freezer for dandelion wine. I got a recipe for Dandelion Cookies so will make a batch when it cools off today and after my outside chores are done. The recipe came from CHERIRIDDELL! If they are good I'll make a big batch because I'm cooking lunch for the meals-on-wheels and the congregate group at the senior center on Monday!

Since yesterday was "Star Wars Day" it is only fitting that last night when I made a mad dash to the grocery store before it closed that this is what it looked like out my windshield. It's really wet heavy snow. Melting off - won't be here tomorrow but I just came in from my coffee/Sunday paper run and got bombed by a clod of snow falling off the roof of the garage!

I had fun at the Methodist rummage sale and the one at the Presbyterian church! Bought an astronomer telescope toy thingie for 50 cents at the Presbyterian (and might go back and buy a rug?) and got some greeting cards, a bell and a shoehorn from a really old shoe store I did a newspaper ad for as a child. Spent a whole $3 at the Methodist. Saw people that I knew. Got and gave a few hugs!

Snow never did show up, nor did the rain but I'm still not going to do naked gardening today - or any other day! Making a run out to WallyWorld to take back a couple bras I bought for my mom and pick up a couple quarts of milk.

Then on to housework chores until the Kentucky Derby comes on TV at about 5 our time!

We always have lilacs blooming for Memorial Day and lots of people still cut them and take them to the cemetery then! I think the smell is just incredible. I have several different varieties in my yard. The best smell is an old "French lilac" which has a smaller leaf and very dark purple flowers and the smell is just intoxicating!

Some years we have them in time for Mother's Day but not very often. I have several white lilacs on my hillside so I share those with my friend Paul's mother. She likes to mix them in with the other colors for her cemetery bouquets.

Clocked wind gusts of 97 mph near Joplin, MT on Sunday 4/28. We were under a blizzard warning only because of the high winds. Our highest recorded in Havre wad 55 and it blew a pretty constant 40-50 for most of the day.

Didn't make the trip to the V.A. today. Hated to have to reschedule but just wasn't worth fighting icy roads and worse having to listen to my nervous Mother for 420 miles!!

I've been strictly Keto since February 1st. Decided I'd eat whatever I wanted on Easter. Bought a bag of black jelly beans. Got raspberries, blueberries and frozen cherries. Made lemon bars, cheesecake (which I can eat on Keto), pineapple. I eat deviled eggs almost daily so not today! I tracked it all. Only ate a lemon bar, pint of raspberries, 1/4 cup of both blueberries and pineapple. Didn't even open the jelly beans! I'll take them to a friend tomorrow! The ham was wonderful and so was the yam loaded with butter. I made mindful choices and feel good about it! The dogs gobbled down the leftover yams!

We strolled in the sunshine both this morning and just after dinner! Turned out to be a sunny day after raining all night! Squirrels out, robins building nests, yards and flower beds are greening up! No tulips or daffodils blooming yet but not far off. All in all it was a great day!

I have a neighbor who keeps letting her dog out and it comes over and poops in my side hillside yard. This has gone on all winter. There is quite a pile in 3 separate areas and I am going to have to clean it up as part of the Spring yard cleaning. I told my mom I'm going to rake it all into a box and dump it on their porch 'from the Easter bunny'. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.

Had another productive day! Did several loads of laundry! Bedding and linens mostly. Time to pack away the piles of winter blankies!! well, soon! Going to part with a few comforters and bedspreads! Some just don't match the decor anymore! Some I will vacuum seal to keep in the car for emergency!

Filled a big black garbage bag with clothes to donate! Washed lots of dishes and took stuff out of the cupboards and wrapped for donation! Sorted magazines and ended up with about 1/2 inch of articles or recipe or craft ideas and a whole brown paper garbage bag to recycle!

Now to haul garbage so the dumpsters are full for the garbage man in the morning. Have another 55 gallon drum of yard waste I raked up before the rain came and will fill with a brush pile that has been in the alley all winter! The city said they would not be picking it up so this is my thumb my nose at that idea! I sneak it in after dark!

Getting my taxes done at the Senior Center at 8:30 Monday morning! Screwed up my days the first week of March so this was the next available appointment! Could have done them on my own but like the X-Files option and couldn't figure out how to do the Montana state taxes online without paying to file them?? I should check into helping with taxes next year. Only 2 mornings a week for 6 weeks!

Took my mom to Ethel's 90th birthday party. It was 2-4. See got there at 2:40 and there were only 5 pieces of cake left! I skipped the cake& I've cream and just had coffee! Huge turn out!

Stopped by the dinner& silent auction to show support for 2 friends headed on a medical mission trip to Africa May 15th.

Tonight was a Mexican buffet for Ethel's family. Had pork carnitas and a taco bar, rice & beans and tortillas. They were really happy with the food again. I was too! Lots of healthy choices and I saved some back for me for this week. Love that Pico de Gallo and avocado! Cinnamon rolls are in the frig to rise in the morning. Brunch is from 11-1. Only one group leaves early. I think the rest will go to church w/Paul & Ethel? It's been fun to meet these people. Glad I could contribute to their celebration!

Stopped up at the mall to see what the deal was with my Health Food Store and massage place. They were open. I had just been using the wrong phone number emoticon I had transposed the last two numbers. I did find out that Kevin has not been doing massages because of an arm injury so will check up on him tomorrow.

Fixed a beautiful Italian dinner for my friend Paul and 20 out-of-town relatives who are here for his mom's 90th birthday party tomorrow. The salad was so pretty and a nice antipasto plate and lasagna, chicken/spinach penne and bread sticks and garlic bread and cheesecake and fruit plate for dessert. They were so appreciative and complementary. It was my honor and privilege because I think his mom is a really wonderful woman!
