Sneak Peek for the Week

September 10 - 16, 2017

This week we are in the Bathroom and One Extra Room

This month's Habit is: Before Bed Routine

Monday

This week we are in the bathroom. This is the main bathroom and another room of your choice. Our "other" room is going to be taking 5 minutes at those stash and dash spots in your home. Maybe it is the basement, a corner in your bedroom, the guest room or garage. Just 5 minutes each day to put a dent in the stash and dash piles we have built.
Your mission for today in the bathroom is to wipe down around the base and the back of the toilet. This is an area that we all seem to forget about until we notice it on day and it seems too far gone to do anything about it! Grab a rag and some general purpose cleaner and wipe down the toilet from the bowl downward, the floor around the base and behind base. This is a quick and easy mission to do!

Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to take a trash bag and just toss anything you can see that needs to be thrown away or recycled.
FlyLady Rebecca

Tuesday

We are back in the bathroom and your mission for today is to clean our your bathroom trash can. Use the tub to fill the can with hot water and add some general purpose cleaner or dish soap. Let it soak and then scrub the bottom, the sides and the outside. Turn it over and let it dry in the tub and then put it back before someone needs to bathe and ends up taking a shower with the trash can! This is so simple and makes a difference.
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes gathering up anything that you can donate or give away that you no longer love, use or need.

Wednesday

It is Anti-procrastination Day! It is time to take a look into the medicine cabinets and toss the empty bottles and boxes that are taking up space. While you are doing this also take a look at the expiration dates on the medicines that are there. If you have some that need to be gotten rid of take care of that as well. Grab a damp rag and wipe down the shelves. Don't take everything out, just lift, wipe and put back.
Your Mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes putting away the things that have a home, you know where they go but you tossed the in a pile while stashing and dashing because someone was coming over. The Stash and Dash spaces are just piles of procrastination.

Thursday

The bathroom sink is calling you! Let's shine our bathroom sinks and counter tops. Scrub the sink and the faucets, wipe down with Windex (remember to be careful that you are not mixing Windex with any bleach products, make sure you rinse very well before using the Windex). Take time to wipe down your counter tops and give them a shine as well.
Your mission for your Stash and Dash space is to go back again to throw away anything that needs to be tossed or recycled. We are going back to do this again because now that we have peeled back one layer it is very possible that there is more to be tossed or another space to toss from.

Friday

We are in the last day of Zone Three! Your mission in the bathroom is to mop the floor. Now, you can do this with some hot soapy water and a rag or mop. There is no perfect way to mop. Just get the floor wet, wipe it and dry it!
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to do a 27 fling boogie in the space. Grab 27 things to throw away, give away or put away! Now you have seen how you can work on these stash and dash spaces a few minutes at a time every day and make a difference.

Sneak Peek for the Week

September 3 - 9, 2017

This week we are in the Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Before Bed Routine

Monday

We are in the kitchen this week!

Take 15 minutes and scrub your stove top! Soak the knobs and drip pans in hot soapy water while you clean the stove top. Some elbow grease and hot soapy water will take care of a lot! Don't become a perfectionist and try to get it as clean as the day it was new. Just do the best you can and then scrub the drip pans and knobs. Don't scrub the knobs so hard that the numbers and words scrub off!
Anything that you do will be better than what it was!

Tuesday

Every once in awhile I get an email from a member with a mission suggestion. I received this one and thought it was great! So here is your mission from a member for the kitchen today:

I was in the kitchen the other day putting away the silverware and noticed how gross the silverware holder had become! Also, the area around the holder was filled with little bits of nothing..elastics, paperclips, ketchup packets! A total mess, in other words. I had the thought that it would be great to have a mission for this as I'm sure there are plenty of flybabies just like me who don't think about it!

Wednesday

Today is Anti-Procrastination Day and we are still in the kitchen,
Your mission for today is to grab a trash bag and clean out your refrigerator. You are to toss ANYTHING that will not get eaten any time soon. This means that new salad dressing you decided to try but really don't like. It is time to let it go. Just as the rule applies to the rest of the house. If you don't love or use it, lose it! Get rid of the fruit that is a few days beyond when it was really edible, get rid of the veggies that are turning into a science project. Check the dates on the cheeses that are potential science project.

You will be able to really make a better grocery list when your fridge is cleaned out of all the items you don't like and or don't use!

Thursday

Your Mission for today is to declutter your plastic wraps and foil drawers, cabinets or shelves. We all have a spot that we keep these items and there is always one empty box in there and some lone baggies that are trying to escape. Toss the empty boxes, the rolls of plastic wraps that are too stuck together to work, and those strays that you are not sure if you should use them or not.
This is quick and easy! Have Fun!

Friday

Today is our last day in the kitchen and I want you to spend 5 minutes and check on the cleaning supplies and things under your sink? Are there things that you don't use? Are there items you have run out of and need to put on your list? Now, what is up with your dish rags and sponges? If you need new ones, put them on the list too. Enjoy your weekend!

Sneak Peek for the Week

August 27, 2017 - September 2, 2017

This week we are The Living Room

August Habit: Laundry
September Habit: Before Bed Routine

Monday
:

For today you are to take 5 minutes and dust the decorative items in your living room. The picture frames, lamps and knick knacks, this is a detailed dusting. Turn on the music and move quickly, you will be amazed at how fast you can to this!

Tuesday

Let's have a Fire Drill! Go get the hotspots cleared off in your Living Room. You know the piles that I am talking about. The ones that just grow and grow. Put that fire out!

Take 10 minutes and put things away where they belong and toss the rest.
FlyLady Rebecca

Wednesday
,

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Thursday

Today is our last day in the Living Room! Let's have a detailed vacuuming session. This means to vacuum the room, making sure to get up against the baseboards and to get under the furniture. Please be careful that you don't hurt yourself trying to move furniture. If it is too difficult to get under the couch or chairs then just try to get as close to the base of the furniture as you can.

Friday

We are only in Zone 1 for one day this week let's make the most of it! Zone 1 is the Front Porch, the Entrance Area and the Dining Room. Today we are going to go on a Trash hunt! Set your timer for 15 minutes and spend 5 minutes in each area. Start with the front porch and gather up whatever needs to be tossed. Got to the entrance area next, look for the junk mail, newspapers, etc., that seems to accumulate here. Toss! Next head into the Dining Room, grab anything that is really trash but you just haven't noticed it. The stray napkins, magazines, junk mail, old school papers etc. You all know what seems to pile up! Go get it and toss it!
Have Fun! Remember this is only 5 minutes in each area, do not get sidetracked or obsessed!

Sneak Peek for the Week

August 20 - 26, 2017

This week we are in Zone 4: The Master Bedroom

This month's Habit is: Laundry

Monday

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your bedroom. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your bedroom, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Tuesday

Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go!! If you do not love it, send it right out the door!

Wednesday

Wednesday is Anti-procrastination Day. We are going to straighten up the floor of your closet! Are the shoes piling up and you can't find two shoes that are a like? Do you think you have too many shoes? While you are lining up your shoes; pick two pair to give away or throw away. The next time you are looking for the pair of shoes that match your outfit, you will smile because you will be able to find them without getting down on your hands and knees. This will put another smile on your face and keep your hair from getting messed up.

Thursday

This week, we have been tackling clutter in our bedrooms. So, today we are going to clean off the nightstands! Get the tissues, cups and stuff that has piled up, toss and put away. Then grab a feather duster or dust rag and dust the surface. Place a pretty candle or picture there. Something that is new to that spot that you love to see.
Waking up and not seeing a pile of things on the nightstand and a pile of clothes will make your morning a little brighter!

Friday

Today is the last day in the Master Bedroom. Take 15 minutes to declutter your dresser. Get the things off the top of your dresser that you have placed there that you were going to put away later. Later is now. Take the time to take care of this; it really makes a great difference.

Sneak Peek for the Week

August 13 - 19, 2017

This week we are in Zone 3: The Bathroom and One Extra Room

This month's Habit is: Laundry

Monday

We are back in the bathroom! Here is a really simple mission for you. Clear off the counter tops and flat surfaces, put away the medicines, the toothbrushes, the cosmetics, etc. Bathroom counters are hotspots for all of us but we don't think of them as hotspots because we think we NEED the stuff, so we just let it sit. PUT THESE THINGS AWAY! Do not get sidetracked with emptying out your cabinets and drawers. Just get rid of the stuff that is on the counter-tops and other flat surfaces.

Tuesday

Today we are going to shine our tubs or showers! We have talked about shinning our sinks since you started and we want you take 5 or 10 minutes to shine that tub or shower. Do not get obsessed with the tub being perfect. Just scrub the tub with whatever works. There is no perfect tub/shower cleaner or perfect way to do this. Shampoo on a wash cloth will work! Whatever or however you choose, anything is better then nothing, then spritz it with a little windex and dry it with a towel like you shine your sink.

Wednesday

Your mission for today is to check the supplies that are needed in your bathroom. Do you need toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash, soap etc. Add these to your shopping list this week. Take a visual inventory to make sure you have what you need so one of your family members are not stuck in the bathroom yelling for toilet paper, nothing says "I Love You" like plenty of toilet paper! These things are so easy to forget until you are standing in the shower with no soap! Get a list ready for your next errand day.
Have fun and don't obsess, just one babystep at a time!

Thursday

For the bathroom today, take 10 minutes to toss old cosmetics and perfumes. If you have these items that you have not used for over a year but they are still hanging around, it is time to dump them.
Let's dump those lipsticks, mascaras, and eye-shadows that we have held on to since high school and college. The key to what to not to keep is: If you have not worn anything in the past year then....... TOSS!

Most cosmetics have a limited shelf life and are harboring grounds for bacteria. This also applies to lotions and moisturizers.

Friday

Today I want you to grab those old toothbrushes that you have just for cleaning and scrub those sink faucets and tub faucets. It is amazing how gross those faucets can get! Just a little soap and water with the toothbrush will make a huge difference. I know this is on of those missions that makes you groan but it takes less than 5 minuted to do and those faucets will shine!
