What are some ways you keep cool during the Summer Months?

FOR ME.... I drink lots of water, go to the lake and stay in the shade when I'm outside.

Do you eat differently when you eat out than you do at home?

FOR ME... I don't eat out often, but when I do, I like to try something new. When I'm at home I have a regular menu of foods DH and I eat.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

FOR ME....It would be a beautiful steak done to perfection with a lovely piece of lobster, mashed potatoes with gravy and a greek salad. Apple pie with ice cream for dessert.

Nope. But now they have 'beanie boos' (not sure I'm spelling that right) and my kids love them, they have huge eyes, so they are collecting those.

Two propane grills, one on south patio for quick grilling in the winter as long as we don't have a ton of snow. One in our our larger north patio for summer family gatherings. Yummy - any kind of steak is my favorite!

Weber round charcoal, Char-Broil infared propane and 4 different sized indoor electric grills. My favorites to grill: N.Y. strip steak and grilled vegetables and mushrooms.

Question For Tuesday ... emoticon

Spring is here with summer to follow. Do you like Barbeque cooking and if so do you use a gas grill or charcoal ..... emoticon ....

A. We just purchased a 3 burner gas barbeque grill .... but will take it to the patio probably next month when it warms up ... and less rain.

What is your favorite scent or smell?

Especially at this time of the year I would choose LILAC (which is the essence of Spring) or LEMON (such a clean smell going hand-in-hand with Spring cleaning).

No I didn't. I was a child in the days before there were prizes in the cereal boxes. We ate oatmeal or cream of wheat. The only boxes of cereal were corn flakes, rice krispies or all bran.

When you were young, did you ever beg your mother to buy a certain box of cereal just because of the prize it contained?
-----------
I remember that a lot of kids cereals came with prizes, but I don't remember any in particular. I would want a sugary treat like "Sugar Pops" or "Sugar Smacks" but usually ended up with plain cornflakes.

There was no movie theater in the town where I grew up - movies were not a thing for me but we did go into NYC to see shows - candy was not a big part of me being a kid - My mom had a drawer we could go in on Sunday and pick a piece of candy but I never liked any of it - When I went off to college I did love the vending machine and m n m's were my favorite - but just 3 days ago I bough choc covered raisins - love them !!

I don't remember getting anything when I went to a movie as a kid. If I did, it was probably popcorn. We didn't have candy very often.. I do like chocolate covered raisins.

Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE COVERED RAISIN DAY. As a kid, what was your favorite boxed or packaged candy to get at the movies? And did you get popcorn to go with it?

----------
My choice was either Raisinets or Sno-Caps. And popcorn was a must, although sometimes it was snuck in from home.

We have raised a few puppies. It was fun when we did it but at this stage in our lives, we won't be doing it again.

Today is NATIONAL PUPPY DAY in the USA. Have you ever raised a puppy and would you do it again?
----------
My DH and I have raised a number of spaniels: English Springers, Brittanys, Cocker, and small dogs Pekinese and Shih Tzu. Our recent dogs were rescues: a 2-year-old Brittany and Lab mix and an 8-year old Shih Tzu. But our newest addition to the family was a 10-week old Chihuahua who appears to be the smartest we've ever had!

I aim for 10000 but right now I have been happy if I achieve 5200. Perhaps by the end of summer I will have worked up to 10,000 steps. I cannot see myself raising my goal up to 15,000 on a regular basis.

I have no idea as I have no tracking device.
I monitor my activity and other ways for example 30 minutes in water aerobics..

A new study reported today suggests that 15,000 steps a day (not 10,000) is the key to heart health. Were you regularly getting in the 10,000?

-------
Not me. And I find these studies that constantly raise the bar discouraging. This study was based on postal carriers. These people walk all day for a living. Just how is this supposed to apply to the rest of us? Sorry for the rant.

I loved my dolls. I also had a wooden doll house that my father made for me.

Oh, wow! When I was young my folks set up a skating ring in the backyard. I haven't thought about that in decades. Thanks for the memories!

ever since I can remember I put on shows - I did not like dolls - but I loved setting up a stage in the backyard and getting the neighborhood kids together to do all sorts of acts and then would have a gathering of parents - My parents would help set up a stage - at first it was sheets and then my dad built one - I did this since I was 6 - we would practice songs and find a way to get some kind of costumes from old clothes - In the winter my dad would flood the patio and we would all skate -

I had dolls .... no one specific that each had a name.
Loved sewing clothes for them .... (hand stitched by a 7 year old .... emoticon
Also loved making paper dolls (out of sturdy material) and designing clothes for them...

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY GROWING UP?

----------
Mine was a classic: Barbie. My mom sewed her a full wardrobe -- what a tiny little waist!
Even though I don't believe I took on any body issues, I'm happy to see that there are more realistic options today. That seems like more progress than handing Barbie a briefcase!

Lilacs--I hope to have some bushes put in this year.

I love to bring bouquets inside, they are so fragrant.

My favourite spring flower is the daffodil. To me, when I see them, it means Spring is finally here. I have grown them. Mine have started to grow for this season.

These are some we saw when we visited South Carolina in February.

What's your favorite spring flower? Have you ever grown it?

-----------
Tulips, hands down. Used to grow masses of them years ago, but now the deer eat them all. So I default to daffodils.

Before moving to Virginia, I had only attended 2 yard sales in all my years, and held one before moving. Not such a fan. But then DH & I joined Lions Club here and yard sales are the major fundraiser. So we spend 6 days or more every 3-4 months working on them. Who knows where life will take you?
