Sneak Peek for the Week

March 26, 2017 - April 1, 2017

This week we are in 2 Zones:
Zone 5: The Living Room
Zone 1: The Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room

March Habit: Getting Dressed to Shoes
April Habit: Making Your Bed

Zone 5: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

This week we are in Zone 5, The Living Room and I want each and every one of you to go into your living rooms and stand there. While you are standing there I want you to look around you and look at the flat surfaces (end tables, coffee tables, tops of tv's/entertainment centers, bookcases, mantles, etc)
What do have on these surfaces? Are they the same decorative things that you have always had? Do you really love them? Are they cluttered up with too many things? Too many ducks, bunnies, candles, cows, precious moments etc? I am not condemning those things but asking you if they still bring you joy and do you still love seeing them in your living room? Or are you just used to them.

What about the piles of magazines and papers? Do you NEED those? You would be amazed at how much neater your living room will appear by just removing a few things.
How much easier would it be to dust these areas without all that stuff?

Your mission is to get rid of the stuff that is cluttering up your living room. Take 5 minutes to let go of some things. I am willing to bet that more of you will find you do want to get rid of some things because they do not bring you joy and you are just used to them being there.
Have fun!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

Back to the Living Room we go! One of my favorite missions for the living room is to go sofa and chair diving! This is where we start digging through the furniture and pluck out the cheerios and old socks! I am always amazed at how much stuff I can pull out of the couch in just one short month! I think the couch is kind of like the clothes dryer, it seems to keep things!
Have fun, this should not take longer than 5 minutes!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

Let's have a Fire Drill! Go get the hotspots cleared off in your Living Room. You know the piles that I am talking about. The ones that just grow and grow! Put that fire out!
Take 10 minutes and put things away where they belong and toss the rest.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

Check the floors in your living room. Look at that two inches all the way around the walls and baseboards that seems to get missed with the vacuum and the broom. Your mission today is to use the vacuum and really concentrate on that area, you can also use a vegetable or toilet bowl brush to loosen the hair and dirt that gets caught up against the wall.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes.
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Zone 4: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends:

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your bedroom. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your bedroom, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

PS. Don't forget that if you miss a mission in your emails you can always get them at our website www.FlyLady.net and click on the Launch Pad.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends:

Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go!! If you do not love it, send it right out the door!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

Wednesday is Anti-procrastination Day. We are going to straighten up the floor of your closet! Are the shoes piling up and you can't find two shoes that are a like? Do you think you have too many shoes? While you are lining up your shoes; pick two pair to give away or throw away. The next time you are looking for the pair of shoes that match your outfit, you will smile because you will be able to find them without getting down on your hands and knees. This will put another smile on your face and keep your hair from getting messed up.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends:

This week, we have been tackling clutter in our bedrooms. So, today we are going to clean off the nightstands! Get the tissues, cups and stuff that has piled up, toss and put away. Then grab a feather duster or dust rag and dust the surface. Place a pretty candle or picture there. Something that is new to that spot that you love to see.
Waking up and not seeing a pile of things on the nightstand and a pile of clothes will make your morning a little brighter!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends:

Today is the last day in the Master Bedroom. Take 15 minutes to declutter your dresser. Get the things off the top of your dresser that you have placed there that you were going to put away later. Later is now. Take the time to take care of this; it really makes a great difference.

Sneak Peek for the Week

March 12 - 18, 2017

This week we are in Zone 3: The Bathroom and One Extra Room

This month's Habit is: Getting Dressed to Shoes
Zone 3: Mission #1 Monday

Dear Friends:
This week we are in Zone 3. This is the main bathroom and another room of your choice. Our "other" room is going to be taking 5 minutes at those stash and dash spots in your home. Maybe it is the basement, a corner in your bedroom, the guest room or garage. Just 5 minutes each day to put a dent in the stash and dash piles we have built.

Your mission for today in the bathroom is to wipe down around the base and the back of the toilet. This is an area that we all seem to forget about until we notice it on day and it seems too far gone to do anything about it! Grab a rag and some general purpose cleaner and wipe down the toilet from the bowl downward, the floor around the base and behind base. This is a quick and easy mission to do!
Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to take a trash bag and just toss anything you can see that needs to be thrown away or recycled.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends:
We are back in the bathroom and your mission for today is to clean our your bathroom trash can. Use the tub to fill the can with hot water and add some general purpose cleaner or dish soap. Let it soak and then scrub the bottom, the sides and the outside. Turn it over and let it dry in the tub and then put it back before someone needs to bathe and ends up taking a shower with the trash can! This is so simple and makes a difference.

Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes gathering up anything that you can donate or give away that you no longer love, use or need.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends:
It is Anti-procrastination Day! It is time to take a look into the medicine cabinets and toss the empty bottles and boxes that are taking up space. While you are doing this also take a look at the expiration dates on the medicines that are there. If you have some that need to be gotten rid of take care of that as well. Grab a damp rag and wipe down the shelves. Don't take everything out, just lift, wipe and put back.

Your Mission for the Stash and Dash space is to spend 5 minutes putting away the things that have a home, you know where they go but you tossed the in a pile while stashing and dashing because someone was coming over. The Stash and Dash spaces are just piles of procrastination.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends:
The bathroom sink is calling you! Let's shine our bathroom sinks and counter tops. Scrub the sink and the faucets, wipe down with Windex (remember to be careful that you are not mixing Windex with any bleach products, make sure you rinse very well before using the Windex). Take time to wipe down your counter tops and give them a shine as well.

Your mission for your Stash and Dash space is to go back again to throw away anything that needs to be tossed or recycled. We are going back to do this again because now that we have peeled back one layer it is very possible that there is more to be tossed or another space to toss from.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends:
We are in the last day of Zone Three! Your mission in the bathroom is to mop the floor. Now, you can do this with some hot soapy water and a rag or mop. There is no perfect way to mop. Just get the floor wet, wipe it and dry it!

Your mission for the Stash and Dash space is to do a 27 fling boogie in the space. Grab 27 things to throw away, give away or put away! Now you have seen how you can work on these stash and dash spaces a few minutes at a time every day and make a difference.

Sneak Peek for the Week

March 5 - 11, 2017

This week we are in Zone 2: The Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Getting Dressed to Shoes

Zone #2 Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

Let's take a close look at the gadgets and small appliances. When was the last time you cleaned out your toaster; opened up the bottom and dumped the crumbs? How dingy or dusty is your coffee maker? Do we even want to talk about the blades on the electric can openers? How about the outside of the microwave?
Wipe them down and make them shine. I am not telling you to drag out every small kitchen appliance you own and to scrub them. Just wipe down the fingerprints, dust, drips, dried food particles on the most used items. Make sure you unplug these items before you clean them!

Don't obsess, set your timer for 15 minutes and have fun!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #2 Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,

Let's go back to basics and get rid of the dirty dishes. Any dishes that are in the sink or on the counter or hidden in the oven, you know where you hide them, WASH them! Take the bull by the horns and just do it! Wash, them, dry them, put them away! If you have a dishwasher, fill it, run it, and empty it, if they all won't fit into the dishwasher then you have to hand wash those! No waiting for the next load! DO IT! Once you have finished taking care of the dishes, Shine that SINK!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #2 Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,

Let's have a Fire Drill on the flat surfaces of the kitchen!

Do you have a hotspot in there that is burning? Get out the trash bag and an empty laundry basket. Toss the trash and put the things that need to be put away in other rooms in the laundry basket. Once you have cleared the hotspots, deliver the other items to the proper rooms.

This might take a little longer than 15 minutes, if so, then work for 15 minutes, take a break for 15 and go do another 15. Let's put out those fires!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #2 Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,

Today we are going after the big appliances!

I am not telling you to clean your ovens and tear apart your refrigerators. Just wipe off the fingerprints, the spills and the dried food that gets stuck on the stove, the dishwasher and the refrigerator. Wipe down the doors, the handles and the surfaces.

This is not a detailed cleaning mission where you need to spend hours scrubbing, just 15 minutes to surface clean your large appliances.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #2 Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,

Your Mission for today is to fling your way through at least one shelf of your pantry. We all seem to have items in our pantry that we will not use, that we keep shoving to the back because one day we might use them. Donate these items to a homeless shelter, a soup kitchen or church pantry. Toss the open boxes of crackers, open bags of chips and out of date items into the trash.

Set your timer and have fun with this!

February Habit: Decluttering for 15 Minutes a Day
March Habit: Getting Dressed to Shoes

Zone #5 Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

This week, we are in Zone 5, the Living Room/Family Room for two days.
Today, I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #5 Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

For today put out the fires that are burning in your hotspots and flat surfaces. Put away what needs to be put away and toss what needs to be tossed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and go, go, GO! You can do anything for 15 minutes.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #1 Mission #1 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

We are going to have a multi room mission today, it might take you longer than 15 minutes to do it, so set your timer for each room and FLY through it!
For the Front Porch, Entrance and Dining Room, put out the fires that are burning in your hot spots. Get rid of the pile of shoes by the front door, get rid of the pile of junk mail and put away the magazines and school papers that are piled on the dining room table.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #1 Mission #2 Thursday
Dear Friends,

We are going to work in the dining room today. Take 15 minutes and work some more on your de-cluttering. Toss anything that can be tossed and put away anything that can be put away. We are working towards the dining room being a dining room and not a storage and pile up area. Keep reminding yourself that you are going to change your home 15 minutes at a time.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone #1 Mission #3 Friday
Dear Friends,

For today let's grab our feather dusters and dust off the leaves on our house plants and give them a drink of water! If you want bonus points you can pull of some of the dead leaves and blooms, declutter the plants! If you don't have any live plants but have some artificial arrangements, dust those off and dump any loose leaves and petals.

FlyLady Rebecca

Dear Friends,

This week we are in Zone 3: The Bathroom and One Extra Room

This month's Habit is: Decluttering for 15 Minutes a Day

Zone 3: Mission #1 Monday

Dear Friends,
This week we will be in zone 3, the Main Bathroom and another room. For today let's stay in the Bathroom only. The mission today is to wash the shower door or shower curtain. If your shower curtain is plastic and you can afford to replace it, put that on your list to pick up Thursday. If you can not afford just clean it the best you can with some cleaner and a rag.
Flylady Rebecca

Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,
Today we are going to make time for the office! I want you to pick a pile and set your timer for 15 minutes to go through it. Don't pick up more than you can get through in 15 minutes. I do not want you to overwhelm yourself. Rely on your timer for this mission.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,
Since tomorrow is errand day, I want you to get under your bathroom sink to see what you need on the list. Check mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toothpaste. Do you have any empty bottles, or items you do not love? Toss them out!
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,
Today is double duty with the main bathroom and laundry room. Take the rugs from your bathroom and wash them. Before you start the rugs in the wash wipe down the top and front of your washer and dryer. Then throw the rags in with the rugs from the bathroom! If you do not have any rugs in the bathroom, take this time to reboot your laundry. Don't forget to wipe down the washer and dryer though!
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,
Today is gong to be an easy one! Today I want you to empty the garbage in the bathroom, laundry room, extra bedroom, kids rooms, and the office. I usually get one kitchen trash bag and empty all of them in it so I only have 1 bag to take out!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #2 Tuesday

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

We are decluttering this month and I bet your trash can is getting a beating. Today let's take the trash out and wash out the can. Wipe the outside of debris, food, and spills. I like to spray mine with Lysol every time I take the garbage out.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #4 Friday
Dear Friends,

When was the last time you looked under your cabinets? Today let's focus on wiping those down. I never think of this, you know "out of sight, out of mind" thing. If you have a lot of cabinets this might take more than one day. If it does wright on your calendar to tackle the rest at a later time. Zone 2 does come around again!

The Master Bedroom! This is the one room that seems to get things tossed into it when you can't find any other place to put something away.
Your mission for today is to set your timer for 15 minutes and gather up some things that just don't belong in your bedroom. Spend 5 minutes gathering and 10 minutes on a delivery mission to either put things away or toss them in the trash!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,

It is anti-procrastination day and we are going to clean off the nightstands! Get the tissues, cups and stuff that has piled up, toss and put away. The grab a feather duster or dust rag and dust the surface. Place a pretty candle or picture there. Something that is new to that spot that you love to see.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,

Yesterday we worked on the nightstands and today we are going after the dressers. Get rid of anything that is not necessary. Instead of a pile up of cosmetics, place them in a ziploc bag and then store them in a drawer when not in use. For perfumes and colognes, toss what you no longer use and place you favorites on a pretty tray, plate or mirror. Keep this space neat and clutter free, you will love to wake up to the flat surfaces in your bedroom decluttered.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,

Today is the day to remake your bed. This may take a little longer than usual but so well worth it. Strip your bed and remake it. Get someone to help you flip the mattress, if you can't then try just to turn it around. If you have some fabric spray spritz your linens orif you have had any colds or flu's in the house lately consider spraying your mattress and pillows with an anti-bacterial spray. Then place those crisp freshly washed sheets and blanket on. Take extra are when making the bed.

Really tuck those corners in and fluff the pillows. An extra tip is to toss your pillow in the dryer with a dryer sheet for added freshness and fluff. Use your bedspread or comforter and make up the rest of the bed. Take your time and know how much you will enjoy getting into your bed tonight and how wonderful it will feel.

Maybe tonight you will go to bed a little earlier or stay in bed a little longer tomorrow morning just taking some time to enjoy something so simple yet rewarding.

This week we are in the bathroom and the laundry room. For today your mission is to declutter the empty bottles and used up bars of soap that are taking up space in your tubs and showers. This is a quick mission, just toss toss toss!

For the other room today, do the same thing in your laundry room! Toss the empty soap containers, fabric softener bottles and boxes. The empty spray bottles and bleach containers! Toss and toss some more.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,
Back to the bathroom and laundry room we go! For the bathroom your mission is to do toss old towels and linens that just plain worn out. Toss them out of your bathroom linen closets. You can donate these items to animal shelters and kennels.

For the laundry room you are to go diving behind the washer and dryer for those lone socks and dust bunnies that seem to multiply when they are back there!
Have fun! These are quick, easy and oh so satisfying when complete!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,
Back to the bathroom we go. It is anti-procrastination day and it is time toss the old cosmetics that are out of date and out of fashion. Trust me very few people can get away with powder blue eye shadow and orange lipstick. Let go of these items that you have been hanging onto because "someday" you might use them.

For the Laundry room, mate up those old socks or toss them! If they haven't found their mate by now consider them legally separated and toss them out the door!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,
Your bathroom mission for today is to assess your supplies in the bathroom. It is errand day and make a list of the items that you need to stock your bathroom. Do you need toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, soap or shampoo? Remember, nothing says "I Love You" like having enough toilet paper!

For the Laundry Room, do the same thing. Do you need laundry soap, bleach or fabric softner? Once again, nothing says "I Love You" like having clean underwear!

Flylady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,
It is the last day in the bathroom and laundry room! Congrats on working hard all week!

For the bathroom you are to shine your tub and sink! This is not hard, just shine them the same way you shine your kitchen sink. Do not obsess, just scrub, spritz and shine.
For the laundry room, wipe down your washing machine and dryer. It is amazing at how dirty these machines can get and we don't even realize it! No big deal here, just grab a general purpose cleaner and a rag. Spray and wipe. That is it! Do not get sidetracked with this!

This week we are in Zone 2: The Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Shining Your Sink
Zone 2: Mission #1 Monday

Dear Friends,
Into the Kitchen we go! This month we are Shining our Sinks, so this mission will go along with our Habit!

Grab those toothbrushes and get ready! Yep! Get an OLD toothbrush and some soap and scrub those kitchen sink faucets! You will be amazed at how much gunk and grime will come off around the handles. You shine your sink everyday but today we are going to make those faucets sparkle. While you are at it take that soapy toothbrush and scrub your rings that you are wearing that have gotten grungy and make them sparkle too!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 2: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,
Back to the kitchen we go! Your mission for today is to wipe down the doors of your cabinets. Use a damp rag and wipe down the fronts and the edges of your cabinets. This is really a simple thing to do but we have a tendency to ignore the cabinets because there is always so much more going on in the kitchen. Finger prints and grease attach themselves to the cabinets and make them a little sticky. A good wipe down will make such a difference. Remember we are taking babysteps! Small little missions that add up to a shiny kitchen.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 2: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,
After reading so many of the SHE Shouldn'ts on the website, I decided that your mission for the kitchen today would be to check your stove tops and ovens for things that should not be there. You are not to be using your oven as a storage place for ANYTHING!!! Check the tops of your stove and the area around it to make sure that you do not have anything that will melt or catch on fire. Now, once you have done this, grab a rag and some general purpose cleaner and wipe down the top of the stove, the knobs and the door of the oven.

Have fun and be safe!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 2: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,
Your mission for today is to set your timer, grab a trash bag and throw open the door to fling out the science projects, holiday leftovers and don't forget to check out the vegetable/fruit drawer. I am usually guaranteed a piece of fruit with a little fuzz on it that needs to be tossed!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 2: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,
Today is our last day in the Kitchen! For today I want you to grab your broom and your mop. Sweep your kitchen floor really well and then mop. There are several ways to mop a kitchen floor and no real wrong way. Hot soapy water and wipe. There is no "perfect" mop and no "perfect" way to do it. Just Do It!

Don't obsess and get caught up in perfection! It won't matter if you don't mop the way your Mother did as long as you do it. Remember House work done incorrectly still blesses your family!

This week we are in Zone 1: The Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room

This month's Habit is: Shining Your Sink

Zone 1: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

Your mission for today is to shake out your door mats and sweep off your front porch. Although for some of you that may mean using a shovel if it is snowing where you are!
This is a quick and easy mission!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 1: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

We are going to have a multi room mission today, it might take you longer than 15 minutes to do it, so set your timer for each room and FLY through it!
For the Front Porch, Entrance and Dining Room, put out the fires that are burning in your hot spots. Get rid of the pile of shoes by the front door, get rid of the pile of junk mail and put away the magazines and school papers that are piled on the dining room table.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 1: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

Today is the day that you will spend 15 minutes in the entrance way of your home. Grab all the mail, shoes and jackets and put them away! I am always so surprised at how much stuff seems to accumulate in that one area! This is one area that when you tackle it and you are finished that you feel such a huge accomplishment because it is what you see first as you come through the door!
Set your timer and..GO!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 1: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

Your mission for today is to check and see if you have any leftover Holiday Decorations still on your door and front porch. If so, take 15 minutes and work on getting them taken down and put away.
Make sure you don't over do it, set the timer!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 1: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,

Today, let's sparkle up the Dining Room Table and Chairs. If you don't have a Dining Room set, no problem, do this mission on the kitchen table.
Set your timer for 15 minutes. Wipe down the tops, the edges, and the legs on your Dining Room Table. Give the chairs a wipe too. Don't ask us about cleaning chemicals, use whatever cleaning and polishing supplies you normally use for your furniture.

When you are done, put on a pretty table cloth or some pretty candles. Your table will look lovely!

Sneak Peek for the Week

December 25 - 31, 2016

This week we are in Zone 5: The Living Room

This month's Habit is: Pampering

Zone 5: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

We are in the Living Room for a whole week! Now we get the question about family rooms and living rooms. What to do if you have both? Well, my answer is to do the mission in both rooms. I try really hard for the missions to take less than 15 minutes so it should not be too much of a time crunch to do both rooms if you have them.
It is time to go sofa and chair diving! This is when you remove the cushions from your sofas and chairs and start digging for the things that magically disappear in there. Grab these things, toss them and then grab your vacuum and suck up the little dust bunnies that like to multiply among the socks! I bet some of you will find a few things that people in your family have been searching for!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

For today really take a look at the knick-knacks and decorative items that you have in the living room. Could you declutter any of these? Do you have too many cutesy things that are really just dust catchers? Things that don't really bring you joy but have been there for so long that you don't even realize that they are there? Your mission is to take 5 minutes to get rid of anything that you don't love or use in your living room/family room.
For those of you that might ask me about things that people have given you that you feel an obligation to display: my answer is simple, you are under no obligation to have anything in your home that you do not love or use. This is YOUR home!! Release yourself from the guilt and obligation. Life is too short to live in guilt purgatory. You are FLYing!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

It is anti-procrastination day and today we are going after the neglected areas of our living room/family room. Grab a feather duster or dust rag and go after the tops of door jams, tops of pictures, molding, windows, corners of the ceiling and the tops of your curtains. Now
Do not get obsessed and start tearing the room apart. Just look up and dust!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

Now you had to know that if yesterday I had you look up that today I would have you look DOWN! Pull out the vacuum cleaner and get into the corners and along the baseboards. If you don't have carpet, get the broom up against the baseboards and into those corners. Get behind and under the furniture. I do not mean that you should move heavy book cases or entertainment centers to get behind or under.
Just take care of what you can!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 5: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,

It is our last day in the living room/family room so, today we are having a fire drill! If you have hot spots brewing, lets get them put out quickly before they start to flare up and out of control. Grab those magazines, shoes and papers that tend to magically appear. Grab a trash bag and fling anything that needs to be flung!

Sneak Peek for the Week

December 18 - 24, 2016

This week we are in Zone 4: The Master Bedroom

This month's Habit is: Pampering

Zone 4: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

We are in the Master Bedroom this week and we can't stress enough to you how important it is for your mental health to have this room decluttered. Being surrounded by clutter while you sleep is just not good for you. For today your mission is to do a 27 fling boogie in the bedroom, grab that trash bag and start tossing. Anything counts, old pantyhose to junk mail! Just toss!
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

Accessories can contribute to some of the biggest clutter problems! Today I want you to take 10 minutes and purge your jewelry boxes, chest, whatever. Now I am not talking about the family heirlooms here. I am talking about the costume stuff that we have collected, been given or don't even know where it came from jewelry. Remember the rule: If you haven't worn it in the past year - toss it, don't love it - toss it, and it doesn't bring you joy then you toss it. Those earrings that have been missing a mate for years and you have held on "just in case". Well, if it hasn't shown up by now, it is time to let go.
Let Go of the scarves and belts that you haven't worn in years and you really won't wear. They are just taking up space!

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your bedroom. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!
This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your bedroom, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

Today is the day to get rid of the dust in your bedroom. Dust the walls and the ceilings. Have you ever noticed how the dusties seem to creep up the walls? Then grab a dust cloth or feather duster and dust the flat surfaces of your furniture as well.
You will be so surprised at how much dusting you can get accomplished in 15 minutes.

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 4: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,

Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go. If you do not love it, send it right out the door!

Sneak Peek for the Week

December 11 - 17, 2016

This week we are in Zone 3: The Bathroom and One Extra Room

This month's Habit is: Pampering
Zone 3: Mission #1 Monday

Dear Friends,
It is time to clear off the flat surfaces in the bathroom. This means the edge of the tub, the counter tops and the back of the toilets. We have a tendency to let things pile up on these areas and usually it is just clutter. Toss what you can and put away the rest! Those shampoo bottles, hair ties and cosmetics. You know what belongs!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,
As you know that Zone 3 is the main bathroom and another room in the house.

Today that other room is the laundry area. Take 15 minutes and straighten up the laundry area. Put away the stray hangers. Wipe down the washing machine and dryer. Toss out all those empty detergent and fabric softener bottles that you have meant to take care of. You know what you need to do, just set your timer for 15 minutes and get busy!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends,
I know you had this mission in Zone 3 last month, however it is a good idea to do this one often!

I want you to take 15 minutes to wipe down your door knobs, light switches and phones in your home. As many of them as you can accomplish in 15 minutes. If you need more time, take a break and go back for another 15. Use plain rubbing alcohol on a rag or something that is anti-bacterial to get rid of all of the germs and hand-prints that have built up. Also, when wiping down the phone make sure you wipe down the mouthpiece as well.

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,
Today we are going back into the office, computer area or desk area! Take 5 minutes to empty your trash can and take a feather duster or dust rag to the room. It is okay if you have piles and you are still working on the clutter, just dust around the stuff for now to get rid of the dusites that have started to get really comfortable in there. You get extra bonus points for sweeping or vacuuming the room as well! Set your timer for ten minutes and don't get sidetracked!

FlyLady Rebecca
Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,
Today is the last day in Zone 3.

Your mission for today is to do a five minute declutter mission. No big deal, just grab a trash can and toss anything in the bathroom and your most cluttered room that you can for five minutes. When you are finished, that is it. See how much you can toss in 5 minutes.

Sneak Peek for the Week

December 4 - 10, 2016

This week we are in Zone 2: The Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Pampering

Zone 2: Mission #1 Monday
Dear Friends,

We are in the first day of the kitchen zone!
Let's take a look at the cabinets! Take a few minutes to check them out, I bet you will see that they need a little sprucing up. Just wipe down the outside surfaces. You will be so surprised at what a difference shining those cabinets will make!

There is no "right" way to do this. Depending on what your cabinets are made out of is what you will use to wipe the cabinets down. A wood soap, a general purpose cleaner, or just soap and water. A slightly damp cloth will work as well.
SO, put on a little fun music and FLY through this mission!

FLyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends,

Your mission for today is to de-clutter your silverware drawer, get rid of those leftover plastic spoons, wet wipes, sippy cup lids that don't have bottoms anymore, etc. We all have the stuff that just seems to pile up in that drawer!
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #3 Wednesday
Dear Friends,

Today is anti-procrastination day and we are heading into the refrigerator! Your mission for today is to set your timer, grab a trash bag and throw open the door to fling out the science projects, Thanksgiving leftovers and don't forget to check out the vegetable/fruit drawer. I am usually guaranteed a piece of fruit with a little fuzz on it that needs to be tossed!
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #4 Thursday
Dear Friends,

The shining heart of your kitchen is your kitchen sink. Your mission for today is to shine your sink. This is the first assignment that you are ever given. Even I forget what a powerful message that gleaming sink does for me in the morning.
FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 2: Mission #5 Friday
Dear Friends,

Today is our last day in the kitchen! Your mission for today is to clean off the top of your refrigerator and take a feather duster to the dusties that are growing in the corners of your kitchen ceiling. Please be careful when doing this! We all know that the top of the fridge seems to be forgotten about.

Having a great day. It's a beautiful day, so hubby and I took a long ride. Figured we need to enjoy it while we can. Too soon it will be cold and snowy and we'll be stuck inside more. Stopped at the store and stocked on on some groceries and got a deal on pomegranates for $.59 each, so bought a few of them as well as some other produce for the week.
We'll have a relaxing dinner at home tonight.

This week we are in the Master Bedroom

This month's Habit is: Paper Clutter

Renew Your Spirit

Each Sunday is the day to Renew Your Spirit. This is a day to take time for yourself and build YOU up with your favorite things. If you donít Renew Your Spirit, you canít renew the spirit of others. Here are some great ideas:

A movie at the local theater
A walk in the park
Curl up with a good book
Take a long hot bubble bath
Watch a favorite movie
There are so many ways you can Renew Your Spirit. Find some that work for you.

It's that time again! Time to do some much earned pampering! It is time to spend some time on looking after that beautiful face of your's with a facial pamper.

SEPT. 25TH, 2016

This week we are in the Living Room, Entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room

September Habit: Before Bed Routine

Before you go to bed, shine your sink. Do not have dirty dishes or cups in the sink. Either wash them by hand or put them in the dishwasher. It is great to wake up to a clean sink. Gather up your newspaper or mail and put them away. Get your clothes and lunch ready for the next day. There are many things to do before bed to ensure that your morning is less stressful before work or school.

Went to the park and read in the great outdoors. Hiked down into the gorge where apparently people like to sunbathe. Good thing we're not offended by breasts.
