If you are having pain on the bottom of your heel, you may want to look at shoes with a good arch support. It is often plantar fasciitis that is the culprit and that needs a good arch support. I know the times I haven't remembered and bought shoes with poor arch supports, I payed for a long time until I either gave the shoes up or bought insoles that took care of the problem.

Just a thought.

I love Ryka and Reebok for that reason. good arch supports. I loved Vionic on my feet but have bad knees and they "realigned" them which caused the problem to be worse. I'm hoping that fixing the knee issue will allow me to wear them. Otherwise, I'm out a pair of really comfortable shoes.

I just found out that the Reebok Easytone, the sneakers that I love, are still available on Amazon. They're almost out, but I bought 2 pairs. I will continue with this wonderful brand until I can't find them online. Therefore, I will continue to follow this post to see what others suggest.

The specialty stores are nice, but out of my budget right now. We have one in Princeton.

I looked into Vionic, but I hate to order online. And the reviews were kinda mixed. Years ago I wore Ryka for a short while. Looking into them again. From the reviews, they seem to run a half size small. I love new balance, but haven't found any I like or that will support my heel. The last pair I purchased were Nike from their outlet store. They were comfortable at first, but the more I walked (am walking), I notice I need more cushion/support at my heel.

DSW, MJM and Kohls tend to carry sneakers at a discount. Will stop in there next week.

Happy stepping everyone.

Guess I should find one of those specialty stores. Are they a chain that you could tell me about and I could maybe find one locally, or are they just stand-alones? I need some new sneakers too. The ones that I used to get for years have been discontinued by Reebok. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for responses!

There are a lot of really great shoes and different people wear shoes for different reasons. There are specialty stores that watch your walking or running and will help fit you for a shoe that is comfortable and supports your feet and helps your walking/running.

The next suggestion is to go to a good sporting goods store and try on several different shoes and spent a while in each of them walking around in the store. If they are comfortable, they probably will be OK.

Be sure to go shopping late in the day when your feet are more swollen so the shoes will fit better your more "natural" size.
