I usually snack two or three times a day, but one of them is my mid day meal. A full lunch meal would make me too drowsy after noon.

Days off early or it doesn't happen. Working days since I walk over 10,000 most of those days, and am gone 14+ hours, I call it good. This means about 4 days a week of exercise.

How do you squeeze in exercise?

First thing in the morning

During my lunch break

By walking and being active all day

Late night when everyone's in bed

While cleaning, doing chores, and cooking

Yes, it's important to set goals. For me, it's about eating healthy and staying active. Plus it helps that I am aiming for 10,500 steps a day, and I log my miles on lbl.exercise.gov for a virtual walk across America. I just want to see how long it will take me to cross America.

I'm not in a hurry to complete but to do as best as I can for me because I am not in completion with anyone else.

And last but not least, since I've set those goals of eating healthy and staying active, it's helped me to focus on tasks at hand around the home such as pruning my holly bushes. A chore which is taking some time to so. So check out my blog where I have pictures of the bushes that I have been pruning the last few weeks in this very hot weather, a few more to do. I am trusting that I will have them finished by late Tuesday before yard waste comes to pick up a good number of bagged holly leaves.

Today, I am taking a break from pruning and doing some walking instead.

If you see a turtle sitting on top of a fencepost, you know he had help getting there. ~ John Maxwell

HI TCANNO. How are you. I was wandering where you was. Long time since I saw a post from you.

I don't like to really sit goals. I just like to go for it. Sometimes you set goals and never reach them.

Sorry but I have been busy and just got back to these weekly questions.

Yes set your goal after you reach your goal weight after all it is not the end of your journey.

second part,

I think trying to beat your PB goes a long way to keeping you motivated but you may need to change this for something else as you will run out at sometime.

My ongoing goal is to maintain within a range of weights as weight will going up and down anyway.

I try to set goals all the time, but it doesn't always work. Reaching at least 10,000 a day is a goal that I can reach every day and that helps me to feel good about myself and makes me feel that I can achieve any goals that I set.

I find that setting goals only stresses me out, so No, I don't anymore.

I do, however, set the goal of 10,000 steps a day and usually hit!

Personally I think setting goals helps a lot, because it also makes you visualize the things you want for your life, and that will make things start to happen.

I motivate myself by setting small, managable goals in multiple areas of life because I easily get frustrated, taking on too big a chore can do that for me.

I find setting goals helps me as long as I don't set too many and struggle to keep up with them.

One goal that helps me is to not eat unless I'm truly hungry.I try not eat out of boredom or stress, both of which are hard for me.

I like the 10,000 step goal; I hit it most of the time, feel great when I go over 12, 000, and it does make me get off the couch and take the dog around the block one more time if I am only at 9K .... I know my activity has increased significantly since I began really using the fitbit!

For me setting a n activity goal like so many minutes or steps per day helps logging in every day. I like the spark guy suggestion of at least 10 minutes of fitness activity. It is a mind game for me if I do a little I want to do more.

Do I think it helps to set goals including but beyond weight loss?

Yes, I do! Setting my mini goals and sometimes GRANDOUS ones, which I've finally found out they never work out, is IMPORTANT! I choose to set these goals, as it's a guardrail for me to keep me from free falling over the edge of the ditch. I also need them beyond, weight loss, as I was in maintenance at one point, and let me tell you, it's so much harder to be in maintenance, than to actually lose, which causes a lot of stress, and that's something I need to also turn into a baby step, so I can see those mountains, we (God and I) have to move those mountains, or we speak and they crumble at my feet! Yes I believe it's very important to have those mini goals!

What kinds of goals keep you motivated to stick to your program?

I love all kinds of CHALLENGES, as there's one going on somewhere, no matter where you may be. What's really the clincher, is when several teams have the same challenges going on, so you get to know someone else and then perhaps, become friends!

Blessings!

To some people's sitting goal is good but if I try to set a few goal I am going to fail. So just take one day at a time.

But I do have a goal to walk everyday for two hours. I must walk. It really make me feel so good. I walk five day's a week. My body feel so great.

WOOHOO more energy.

Even when I started losing weight, I didn't set a weight loss goal. I set behaviour goals instead and later started calling them "resolutions"

Some of them have been about fitness:
*yoga twice a week
*weight training twice a week
*walk 18,000 steps a day

Some have been about eating:
*say "No" to birthday cake
*eat cheese only at restaurants
*no peanut butter allowed in the house

Some have been about attitudes:
*act the way I want to feel
*don't take things personally

Those are all things I can control, losing weight will be a by-product

emoticon

February Resolutions
*15,000 steps a day
*act the way I want to feel
*don't expect praise or recognition
*meditate daily
* average over 15,000 steps a day

I think it is very important to set goals outside of weight loss. In fact, it is probably more important as these are the behaviors that will help us succeed in the weight loss goals. I set some fitness goals, some eating goals, and some other goals. I always have the weight loss goal but none of the goals are for EVERY day.

Goals to walk to places helps keep me motivated to be more active.
Goals to sleep 7 hours a night keep me from staying up with a good book or movie but it also helps me feel rested and less likely to binge the next day.
Goals to eat fruits and veggies every day helps me eat healthier. I still have chocolate each day but find that it is also important not to make any food forbidden.

I also set goals to do these things 4-5/7 days as I want some "wiggle room" if I have a hard day or just can't do something one day.
