have the sparkpeople walking device but don't really like it that much as you cannot see how you are doing like looking so see what you are up to. always have to go on line thinking about sending it back and getting the fit where i can see the results and can also compete with others who have it. still wearing device for now.

D) ALL OF THE ABOVE: All of these options will promote the slow healing process of sunburn. Remember dont give children or adolescents aspirin, because of the risk of Reyes Syndrome. Also, avoid creams and lotions with ingredients ending in -caine, such as benzocaine or lidocaine. Such products have the potential to irritate the skin further. They may also cause rare, but serious, medical complications, especially for children and adolescents.
The best thing to do is allow your skin to heal on its own and at its own pace. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, it is essential to keep skin that is recovering out of the sun, especially if your outer layer of skin is peeling or has peeled off. Contact your health care provider if you have any complications like extreme blistering or signs of an infection.

It is here as well. Once when we lived on the ocean, my husband got quite burned and was unable to put his boots on without pain. He went to the emergency room and was threatened with disciplinary action for "destruction of government property" for getting a sunburn

Needless to say, the next morning he marched to work in his combat boots. The skin beneath bled but he went to work.

How do you treat sunburn?


A) Keep your skin cool, moist, and avoid any more exposure to the sun as your sunburn heals.

Part of it is specific, like I want to lose 50 lbs within 18 months (33 done) plus I want to get my blood pressure into the healthy range (accomplished) but some of it is also vague, like I want to feel fitter and healthier and more comfortable in my skin (and my clothes as well, of course).

My goal is very specific: I want to avoid diabetes at all costs!
I am not diabetic or even pre-diabetic.

However, there are many that are diabetic and 4 times as many that are prediabetic and all these people do not even know that they are diabetic or prediabetic.

But I've seen and lost too many dear people to this terrible disease.

My mom died from its complications: heart disease~leaky heart valves & mini heart attacks, kidney failure, and loss of vision.

Just recently a very dear friend, 70 yo, passed away from it. She had a massive heart attack several years ago and had been in heart failure ever since. Most recently, she fell broke her hip. Had successful surgery but because of diabetes was not able to get enough oxygen although on it, because her heart only quivered and not pump. Also loss of vision.

Then my brother-in-law who is 1/2 Cherokee lost all members of his immediate family to diabetes and he himself is now a diabetic with neuropathy in both feet.

And yet, another dear lady from church, 50 yo, just got the shock of her life when she had a shin bone injury that would not heal, she too found out she was diabetic.

According to "Diabesity" by Francine Kaufman, MD, former president of the American Diabetes Association, the ratio of unknown diabetes to unknown Prediabetes is 1:4.

And most diabetics blood is very thick, because it is loaded with sugar just like maple syrup and will not be able to carry the oxygen so necessary for the life of the tissues and organs, hence the amputations of the extremities and injuries that will not heal. This is one of the many reasons why corn syrup is so bad for you. And also anything that has a high glycemic level in it. Because what you don't burn off will convert to fat which equals weight gain.

Also, the extra fat does some terrible things to a person's hormones, thus setting up the possibility of developing cancer for both men and women.

Many have died as a result of this disease's complications, so yes, numbers are important and those would be the ABCs.

A1c for blood sugar
B for blood pressure
C for cholesterol
