#2 I believe in moderation. I have no truly forbidden foods although I don't eat some foods much of the time for health and other reasons. I find that if I have something on a "forbidden list" that I will for sure eat it and crave it. And if I eat it, I will go crazy and have a bunch.

For example, I avoid beef as it seems to aggravate my arthritis. I couple of weeks ago, my son and I stopped at an old place that had no choices except beef. It was very good and I'll be good for another year without any more beef. But I didn't put it on a forbidden list, just an "occasional" list.

Since my last doctor's visit and I am allergic to so many foods, almost every medication, and allergies galore, I'm going to try (yes, TRY) to cut out wheat, carbs and sugars. Huge task, but my doc gave me the book Grain Brain (gluten free, yuck), which really opened my eyes to what grains do to our brain, then do the best I can. The key is really "do the best I can" and let the Lord take care of the rest.

I buy a lot of candy I don't like but my children and grandchildren enjoy. I also will buy some that I enjoy and open it when there are others present. This way, I enjoy a bit and don't feel deprived yet still avoid the pitfalls of a houseful of candy calling my name.

I feel guilty of course! That's the normal feeling if a person makes a goal and doesn't do it. I think beyond the "reasons" we know we are sabotaging our progress unless something truly comes up we can't work around. Then we don't feel guilty.

I guess my program has been walking. I started walking during the summer and I still walk most days now. I bike too which keeps it all fresh. I need to add some upper body exercise in soon but haven't figured out what yet.

This year is all about me and my quest to unload this extra person I have been hauling around.

No big deal. My life is such that when I work, I miss a workout, I have been caring for my mother and grandchildren. Things like that really cramp any exercise beyond some simple stuff. Only on "free days" can I take the time to exercise.

Slightly guilty, but I usually find a way to be more active the next day.

I will continue to add to what I've been able to do since the MD gave me restrictions from the surgery. I'm adding more and more to my walking. I will also add strength training and yoga - but only the ones that I feel that I can do comfortably. I'm trying tog et off the pain meds, so I don't want to do too much and need to have to take them again.

I will basically stay to the same program, but try to be more consistent. Joining the fitness center is great for me, because I am learning the different machines, so I never have to do them the same everyday. My trainer is working with me, so I find that challenging and fun at the same time.

My program, and Spark allows me to make my own, includes eating healthy and planning those meals and snacks. Taking lunch to work really helps me avoid impulse eating. I have some days off during the week so I plan some walks around that time.

This time of year is perfect for walking. I can easily walk outside until Thanksgiving week, especially when I can choose the time of day to do it.

I have several walking paths staked out for the weekends. I have an achievable goal at my local mall where I walk every morning. I am starting body modality DVD's tomorrow for healing my muscles and keeping me flexible and just simply loving myself fit.
