Great post Krys!

Through out my weight loss journey, I've discovered many things that I love. I will try anything once. I love exercising. I used to do it all the time before I gained all of my weight. When I was heavy, it was just too hard to do it. Now I'm trying different things and making challenges for myself. The foods I eat are now different. I eat so many more fruits and veggies. I love trying new things. You need to keep an open mind and be willing to try things cuz you never know if you'll like it or not.

I have found walking the one thing I can enjoy and can do whether I'm doing well fitness wise or not. It is something I can do with my children and grandchildren, my mother, myself.

The dog and I enjoy walking and feel better when we've walked either together or apart.

This is so true!
It is hard to continue with a lifestyle that you do not find enjoyable. Sure there are some days when it is hard to get moving but, at least I do, once I get moving I truly enjoy it!

Are you enjoying your Successes?

You'll never achieve real success in your lifestyle change unless you like what you're doing and like what you're eating! It's true. If it hurts when you exercise or if you do exercise that you don't like doing, chances are you'll quit is a short period of time due to lack of interest! The same is true about what you're eating. If you're forced to eat things that are not what you like, chances are you'll give it up and return to your old eating habits.

The trick to this whole lifestyle change is to enjoy what you do and enjoy what you eat! I'll let you in on a little secret... If you create a list of all the foods that you like, all the food that you'd like to try and do a little research, you'll find that (apart from junk food) you're probably eating really well! Sure your portions may need to be looked at and the quantity of each food may have to be looked at but generally, most people know what is good for them when they prepare a regular plate of food! Now... once you find out all of the foods that you like to eat,the next step is to pick the food with the best nutrients (like green leafy vegetables like spinach, lettuce, kale, collared greens, beet tops, Swiss chard just to name a few, add a small potato or some rice (I had to cut back all white potato, rice, white flour products and white bread) then add your protein like black beans, brown beans, lentils, chicken, fish or red meats. Remember... everything in moderation. Make sure your portion sized are correct and you're on your way to a healthy you!

The next step is your exercises. I realize that everyone is different and some people can't make it to a gym... but there are ways to exercise that you may like that don't involve gyms!
Just a little note here... I am a member of a gym and I love it but there are those that simply don't like gyms... For you I offer this solution. Start a list of all the activities that you like to do such as Bike riding, hiking, swimming, running, jogging, walking, playing ball, soccer, climbing a tree, Bocci, lawn bowling, Horse shoes, kite flying, swinging on a swing... The list could be endless. These are all exercises... or how about gardening, cutting the grass, edging the grass, painting, sanding wood, cleaning house... It all adds up! Choose the exercises that you like and enjoy it! You don't have to lift weights or go on a treadmill if you don't want to... Just enjoy the exercises that you want to do!

The more you love what you're doing, the more successful it will be for you. Don't set compensation as your goal...just do it for the enjoyment of it! Your compensation will be less pounds to worry about, a great new look and perhaps a new wardrobe... why? Because you deserve it!

Remember: If you enjoy what you are doing and enjoy what you're eating in the proper portion sizes you won't pay the price of success, you enjoy the price of success because you'll have earned it while enjoying it!

You deserve all the good things that life has to offer you... the work... the play... the food... the drink... Let life be your reward! Don't punish yourself...

It's time that you enjoyed your life to the fullest! You deserve it! You know you do. Don't wait for your life to change... Make the changes that will get to your ultimate goals! The time is now... Leave your past in the past and excel to your new future... The new you! The you that you want everyone to see!

It's not too hard to change your lifestyle... you just have to do a little research, plan how you want to proceed and start... The first step is always the hardest but once you've made a few small steps... more are sure to follow. You have unlimited support through Sparkpeople and all of the fabulous people here, you also have everything you need to track your food intake, exercising, and other great stuff! Take full advantage of everything that Spark People have to offer and soon you'll be on your way to a new you! For those who have already made it to their goal weight and are staying on track... CONGRATULATION'S! You deserve it... you worked hard for it!
