Welcome! I agree with frugalgal - you can lose weight without exercising, which is especially important to keep in mind if you have physical limitations. When I started I made the conscious decision NOT to exercise at the beginning because I wanted to concentrate on my diet and I thought that going hard on both exercise and diet at the beginning would just be too hard for me to deal with. Eventually I slowly added in exercise because I generally like the way it makes my body feel and it's healthier for me, but it's not my primary weight-loss tool.

Good luck and hope to see you checking in with the group!

Welcome to the group.

Please make sure you check with your doctor about the exercise since you are going to PT.

God Bless,

Hi and welcome! You and I have several similarities as far as age, weight and height. I'm 54 yrs. old, 5' 3" and you can see my ticker weight.

Others may disagree with me on the importance of exercise for weight loss. But from what I've read over the years, exercise is important for cardio and toning, and not so much to do with weight loss. I looked up a random websites about burning off food with exercise. Here is just one I found: spoonuniversity.com/lifestyl
e/how-long
-it-takes-to-burn-off-the-ca
lories
-in-your-favorite-junk-food
I don't think any of these foods are "bad" foods, but just wanted to share that losing weight has more to do with how much we eat. So, rather than killing ourselves with exercise to burn off too much eating, we just need to eat in moderation. Easier said than done. Like you, I'm a person who eats out of boredom and any other reason on earth. I think we need to simply find ways to occupy our time rather than eating. (Talking to myself. lol)

As far as exercise, I would exercise because of the way it makes you feel rather than for weight loss.

Wishing you the best on your journey!

Eat only when hungry.
Eat exactly what you're hungry for.
Stop eating as soon as you're satisfied (not full).
Do this consistently and you will lose weight.

Hello Everyone I'm gonna have to really get in gear if I want to lose any weight. I'm at 200 lbs. and at 5'3" it really don't look too healthy. lol. I just don't know what to do. I have COPD so I just cant go like I used too. I turned the big 50 on the 2nd of this month. think I'm just going to join a gym so I can use the machines. although both my hips hurt. I'm currently in PT for that. For the last year all I done is eat when I get upset or bored. this has got to stop.
