I found "At goal and maintaining" team but not sure if that is what you are referring to. I am just not ready for that. I can't share any joy when I am not there yet. But you may enjoy the conversation.

I picked up only three people so far in the new challenge which starts Friday. It may not work but I need to be accountable. So even if I just log every week it will keep me going in the right direction.

Someone had mentioned to me that she joined the maintenance team before she hit maintenance and that it is a very welcoming and active team. That was awhile ago and I still haven't looked into it because I feel like I have so much more to lose that I'm just not ready to talk about maintenance! But she said it was a good team...

I'll keep an eye out for the challenge and see what happens.

Yes I did notice the same thing very boring. I can't seem to find an active group except for Team Keto. That is the hottest group going with endless input on losing weight. That is my most enjoyable group. I think you could blend in because there are vegetarians on that group also because they use IF as part of their plan. But it does not appeal to everyone unfortunately.

I think I will go over completely to that "boring group" and start a 1# challenge again over there and see what happens. Not sure if there is any interest or if they are just not being offered the type of challenge they need? There is absolutely nothing happening here, except for a few of us.
There is a chat topic and also under sharing is 2018 chat group over there. I hope we can find something else of interest because spark groups are getting boring to me.

You go get 'em!

On a whole other note - do you find it weird on that other, unnamed team we are on, that people just go on and post about the weather and no one ever talks about their diet/exercise stuff? I mean, it's nice and cheerful to hear about the sunshine and all, but no one ever seems to talk about why they are here on spark? I wonder why?

Spiegy you had me laughing out loud picturing you cramming chips into your mouth, LOL. OH how I can relate to that. Thanks for the pep talk. Yesterday I had my pity party and finished off my day with a big piece of ( uh-oh) watermelon. Then I went to bed two hours earlier than usual.
This morning when I woke I said Okay, it's Monday, last week is behind me, and I will start again. I feel better today already. Thanks buddy.

You can do it, Kathleen! You have done it before and you will do it again. Why not think about it as a planned break like I did, and decide on the day you are just getting back to it. Have your last carb hurrah and then be strict for one day. Probably once you do it for that one day, you will get your mindset back...

And that water weight is real! Of those 8 pounds I was up as of last Tuesday, 7 are already gone now that I have been eating back on my program. Water, water, water. Hopefully this last pound will disappear this week. I know you can do it, too! We've been weight buddies for awhile, and you always come back and beat me by a few pounds!

Last week, on my last day before getting back to the program, I ATTACKED a bowl of potato chips and tortilla chips. It was embarrassing. I couldn't get enough of them crammed into my face fast enough. Man, those things are my kryptonite. I haven't had them in my house in a very long time and it was an ugly reminder of why... yeesh.

I just need to vent.

Why do I always get to a certain point in my weight loss and then shot myself in the foot? I fell off my diet last weekend and I am desperately trying to get back to what I should be eating. It just seems like I sabotage myself. Once you fall off KETO it is really hard to stop eating those carbs again. They are addictive.

Oh well. I just have to get back to it. Start again and keep focused on my goal. The scale is showing + 5 pounds and I don't want to gain it all back!
I'm hoping some of it is water bloat from all the salty foods I ate.

SPIEGY Sounds like it was a great vacation. Sometimes you need that break and having fun with family is really most important. That crepe must have been awesome!

I gained also, too much BBQ and then a wine and cheese party (of course I ate dessert) last night. Oh well. The scale showed a gained of 3 pounds today and I feel bloated. Back in the saddle today.

Well, I am back to the program after about 10 days of vacation and taking a break from calorie counting, exercising and worrying about my food intake. Shockingly, I can go right back to eating a lot of high calorie food throughout the day with NO problem. Ha! Goes to show the reason why I need to keep a tight reign on myself most of the time!

But this really was a planned eating and drinking vacation, so I'm not too upset about the EIGHT pounds that I put on in 10 days! Hopefully 2-3 pounds are water weight, and the rest - well, it was well earned. I will do my official weigh-in on Thursday as usual and see what that shows after a couple of days of calorie counting. emoticon

We went to cideries, wineries and microbreweries in Quebec, and made sure that we ate our share of poutine. And my son and I shared the most amazing chocolate crepe I have ever seen/had. SO. After about 15 months of worrying about every calorie - I needed and enjoyed the break. Back on track now for the summer. Have a great week everyone!

SPIEGY Sounds like a great routine you have going. Toning always makes the body look so much better.

Starting yesterday I am trying to be a little more restrictive with my food choices. Trying to keep the carbs really low and knock off a few more pounds. I had hoped to reach my goal weight by end of June but I doubt that will happen. One pound a week doesn't even bring me close to where I want to be. This is when I usually quite trying but I know I can keep going until I reach that goal. For me this is a huge change in my personality. I guess that change comes with age?

Everyone have a good day!

That's great! I stayed the same this week, but I feel good so I'm happy. I'm back up to 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and I am sticking with my 2 days of dumbbells & body weight exercises, and I can see/feel that the weight training is making a difference in toning me up a bit.
My stomach is slightly flatter and I can definitely feel my abdominal muscles under the squishy parts! Legs and arms are also getting some muscles that I can see/feel, although it doesn't look like it to other people! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I went a little off track with my eating yesterday so I stayed the same. DH brought home corn on the cob, yikes. I couldn't resist eating TWO with butter. Oh well, today I start again.

Yes, we have a bears here too. Scary when they are a little too close for comfort.

We had a hummingbird feeder hanging on our deck and it had been there for quite a few years without incident. Heard a noise 10:00 PM one night and looked out to see a huge bear on our deck. After he rearranged all my furniture bumping into it all, he helped himself to the feeder and carried it off to enjoy the syrup!
I was really shaken as I stood behind our sliding glass door peeking and watching him do his thing. Even though I was behind a glass door it was too close for me. We don't hang any feeders on our deck anymore and also stop feeding the birds in the yard during the warmer months. There seems to be more bear activity this year around here, not sure why.

Another sunny spring day! Yay!

I hope I am a pound down for my official weigh-in tomorrow, but I don't know. Right now I am the same but I "feel" thinner and I ate pretty salty food yesterday so I'm going to drink a lot of water/tea today and see if that helps with any water retention.

That's great! And a French themed party must have been amazing. I love French food. Mmmm...

So apparently we have a bear who considers our street part of his territory. Last summer there was a young looking bear that we saw a couple of times and called the police about, who basically didn't sound too interested. Then we didn't see him anymore and assumed/hoped he'd moved on. But we saw our neighbor from across the street on Saturday and he told us that when he went to take in his garbage can on Friday night there was a bear on the other side of it - which he didn't notice until he actually had his hand on the can. He wanted to warn us about it - said it was at least 350 pounds. We're in the suburbs but there are lots of wooded areas and we see a decent amount of wildlife and he thinks that a lot of them are coming from behind our house and cutting across and out the back of his. We have a little herd of about 6 deer that bed down a lot in the back of our yard, then cut across to the other neighbors.

SO. Bears. Definitely not an animal I want to come face to face with. emoticon

Well I came through this weekend okay and not gaining anything. Thursday we celebrated a birthday dinner out for our grand daughter who is now 15 years. Got lucky it was a steak restaurant.
Then Saturday I went to a surprise Paris themed 60th birthday party for a friend. Again, lucky!
All French menu. I avoided the sweet crepes and fillings but ate one savory crepe Brie cheese and spinach filled. And there was a lot of cheese to fill up on. So here we are Monday and I hope tomorrow my weigh-in day brings a loss.

Good Morning. The IF went very well. I lost 5 pounds this week.
Last Friday I did the IF in the time frame that worked best for me, only because I eat breakfast every day with my DH. I.stopped eating after breakfast 8AM on Friday and went until Saturday morning 8AM breakfast. So it was a 24 hour fast. It wasn't as hard as I expected. I did drink plenty of liquids and chicken broth to get me through, walked and kept myself busy. I also went to bed an hour earlier to avoid the temptation of eating something later that night.
I was able to pull it off because my DH had gone on an overnight fishing trip Friday to Saturday so I didn't need to make dinner on Saturday and no need to explain why I wasn't eating!
I only did one night of IF last week and I am going to try another one night this week and see if I lose more. According to what I read, most IF's are done twice a week. I'm glad I tried it. I need something to kick me back into losing. I haven't measured myself but my tops are a
lot looser and that's what I care about. I guess you could call me an apple shape. I carry most of my weight in my mid -section and legs are not heavy.
Have a nice day.

How did the fast day go, Kathleen? Well, my number are going UP instead of down. Right now I am 1 pound up from last week, but I am hoping to get it down by my official weigh-in on Thursday. I feel like everything is tightening up, which feels good, but if I don't go down at least 1 pound in the next 3 weeks I will stop doing the weight training. It takes away my motivation if there is no weight loss. Plus I'm only ONE pound away from being out of obese. At least, it was 1 pound until I put on a pound this weekend. I really, really want to get past that hurdle and into the "overweight" category.

Have a great Monday!

I hear that when you do weight training you gain muscle (which weighs more) but you lose lots of inches. They say weight training is really good for us and since you enjoy it......maybe you should measure your inches along with checking the weight on the scale?
I think if you look good and you are wearing a smaller size the scale is just a number.

Let us know how it goes! I don't do 24 hour fasts, but twice a week I do a modified fast from about 7 PM to 1 PM, then split my calories between a small lunch & dinner, which is usually just veggies and protein. Sometimes I'll add in a carb, but most of the time I don't.

I didn't lose anything this week, which I was sort of expecting but hoping wouldn't happen. I didn't keep my calories quite as low as the last couple of weeks plus I increased my weight training reps. My plan is to keep doing the strength training program until the week of May 17th. If I don't lose any more weight by then I'm going to stop and just keep on with the cardio, just like I did last year. Then I'll plan to add strength training when I am at goal...

I'm hoping that if I just give it a few more weeks my body will get used to it and release some weight and trim down. Although again, the last time I did it I didn't lose weight and I didn't trim down! Yikes! emoticon I really like how I feel when I do these exercises, but since my main goal is to lose weight, I am willing to postpone the weight training until I lose more... I will keep you all posted!

Just popping in to say hello. The weather here has improved greatly and the sun has been shining for a few days. So I have been walking outside each morning, breathing in the fresh air.

Tomorrow I am going to try something new to kick my body into losing some pounds. I have been stuck in one place for awhile. I will be doing an IF (intermittent fasting) from breakfast Thursday until Breakfast on Friday and then again on Monday until Tuesday. Only water, tea, black coffee through out the fast.
It will be interesting to see the results from two fasting days this week..

Good Morning MUMSY all the way in New Zealand! Autumn is my favorite season. We're into spring now, my least favorite time of year, and getting the garden ready for vegetable planting.
My DH is actually the gardener but I help where I can. I have a few small flower/herb gardens that I take care of.

Nice! I went to school in upstate NY, and 2 of my closest friends/college roommates still live up there, so lots of fond memories! Have a great time!

I was completely shocked this morning to see the scale hovering next to 171, especially since a few days ago it had been back up to 175! I stepped on and off about 6 times and 172 was the most consistent number so that's what I'm counting. I'm really trying to control my calories and add back some exercise so hopefully it will go down consistently.

I added back in weight training this morning (after weigh-in of course) and when I did it before it did NOT help my weight loss, but I liked the muscles I was getting, so I decided even if it makes me plateau or go up a couple of pounds I'm going to stick with it because I want to tighten up a bit. But I'm starting off very slowly with light dumb bells, so maybe for the first few weeks it will help instead of hinder. Hopefully... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello. I'm heading off this Friday for a three day quilters retreat in upstate NY. I am always better with food when I am not alone. They bring so much junk food and sweets and snack all day but I always come back weighing less. So hoping for a good loss by next Tuesday.

Hope your doing well.

Sounds great! I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things with both eating and exercise. I joined a walking challenge but missed today... I'm back up a couple of pounds after Passover... emoticon

Hello. This week is going well. Staying true to my WOE lifestyle. I am doing some extra walking also. Pumped my 5 mile walk up to 6 miles every day. Fingers crossed the scale moves down.

Good Morning. Here we go again, this time I will work much harder to lose one pound a week.

For a long time I held firm on not eating certain foods because they were not part of my WOE plan and I did well. Lately I've noticed that I am being influenced to eat foods that are not good for me. Today I feel back in control and will not be tempted by anyone or any foods!
I really need to do this, for myself.
Good Luck to all of you in the challenge.

LOL Matzo Balls. I hear you about holiday foods. This year I get to escape all the temptations on the Easter table. Our son and family will be in Boston and our daughter and family will be in Washington DC for Easter weekend, they all left today. So DH & I are not cooking this year. It will keep me focused on good choices and no carbs/no candy. Have a nice holiday.

Ugh, weight still not going down and it's been a month already. I stopped exercising for a few weeks and just started again, so maybe that will help. On the other hand, it's matzo ball season, so I may as well just paste those onto my thighs... emoticon

Good morning neighbor.
I am working hard to stay on my Keto plan. It's not for everyone but it appeals to me because it is the food I crave. Moderate protein, high fats, very low carbs. Problem is once you fall off it is tough to get back on. So it has been a challenge for the last two weeks. When I get fully on again the weight will come off faster than a regular SAD.
I can't believe we have only one more week to this challenge! The days seem to go by so quickly and here we are already looking at April!
Hope you are doing well.

Kathleen, great to see you back! I'm in northern NJ, neighbor, so we can practically wave to each other. My son is in school in PA so every once in a while we drive by the Poconos to go see him. Really sorry to hear about your 2 weeks without power!! The 5 days we were without electricity really threw me off; two weeks is outrageous. But good you have a generator - I saw two of our neighbors had them, and I was jealous!

Weight-wise - I think it's impossible to stay focused on it when you're in emergency mode. Crazy. I'm actually just kind of treading water, going up and down the same pound for a month. I'm not happy about it but I'm trying not to beat myself up. emoticon

Glad to hear from you, and I hope that everything goes smoothly for you for these last few weeks of snow season!!

Hello Spiegy. I didn't leave I just couldn't use the computer. We here in the Poconos were hit with a tremendous snow storm March 2. Got about 20 inches of snow and had power outage that lasted two weeks here. It took another week to get our computer up again. We used a generator for just the basics to get us through. My diet suffered because we just ate what we had in the house and in the freezer. Not sure where you are from but sounds like you had a lot of snow too. I see you are doing really well with pounds dropping. good job.
Me not so good, gained a few. So I really need to focus to get back on track.

A quick check-in. Wow, is it quiet here! Did everyone migrate over to the savvy seniors team? We were hard hit by last week's snowstorm last Wednesday, just got the power back yesterday, and the trees blocking the only entrance/exit to my dead end were finally cut and moved on Friday afternoon, so we were able to finally get our cars out. What a week!

Spiegy I agree about that lazy typing. LOL Annoying!

Having a tough week. I am finding it difficult to stay away from things I should not eat. Working hard at it but had a few little slips this week. Not good. DH brought potato chips and Doritos home. A bite now and then is NOT a good thing. ARRRGH Drinking lots of water to compensate.

I had a cranky middle-aged woman moment - I looked at the SP community feed and just couldn't click "like" on one more misspelled, shorthand, #hashtag everything post. Nope. Drawing the line. If you can't be bothered to write out "probably" instead of "prolly" I can't be bothered to like your post. I refuse to give a thumbs up to things that hurt my brain to interpret.

Also, what's the deal with all the close-up face pics with no text?

Sheesh!

Okay, then. Back to aging with grace and humor.
