Great ideas.

Hope other people will chime in with their ideas ... food ideas as well as any others.

I am not familiar with Judith Beck, I will have to look for her book.

God Bless,

My tools are more psychological, I use the techniques I was taught in cognitive behavior therapy. It means I realize and write down what thoughts I have and challenge / change them.

I have a food plan with 6 set eating moments: 3 meals and 3 snacks. If it's not time to eat, or if I want to eat other foods that are in my plan, I use thsse CBT techniques. (Similar techniques are described in the books by Judith Beck, like 'The Diet Solution').

Get your mind on something else for a half hour & the emotional hunger will go away. Sometimes it has to be physical: play the piano or other instrument; Watch (and participate} chair exercises (I record on DVD - PBS).

So far, here are some "go to" items I've got in mind to keep the Hunger Demons at bay. (These seem to work for me, but am not necessarily saying you should try them.)

water
sugar free gum
coffee
diet soda
iced herb tea, the fruity kind
yogurt (plain and a flavor I love)
single servings of nuts
single serving low-fat string cheese
single serving of breakfast cereal (ha ha ... I have already posted about My Brief Fling with a Whole Box of Cereal)
heck ... single serving of most anything.

What are some things you guys have in your tool kits???
