Good Morning,

Summer is here this weekend with record breaking temperatures, 92' F today, possibly up to 100. This is Seafare weekend in Seattle so I am all set to watch the hydroplane races tomorrow on TV. I filled my ice cube trays. Cold meals and fruit is the plan today.

It's good to hear members are healing and feeling better, running races and keeping busy with family.

Have a great weekend.

Suzanne, I so envy your gardens -- one of the nice things about Maryland is the great soil. It's much too sandy here to have outside gardens --- I have plants in pots front porch, back patio and bird/sunroom --- a few plants in the back up against the house, but otherwise all potted. A few native plants in the front of the house -- they do ok, but when the humidity is high it's tough.

Enjoy your classes. Sammi

Good morning!

Last night I went to the viewing of a dear young friends mom -- she was being so strong. So many people showed up to show their love and support.

It is getting close to the beginning of a new school year, so I am kicking up my workouts while time permits. Today I am doing a 'double' at Jazzercise. I will do a regular class then they have a circuit class. I had a good breakfast and am letting that settled before I go.

Shiree -- Good for you! Are you going to do any other runs?

Michele -- The weeding never stops, I just move from one garden to the next! HaHa I over the past 16 years I have put in two walk through woodland gardens two large perennial beds, an herb garden and foundation beds around the house. I work on a garden or two a day -- about an hour or two here and there. Today I will hit the woodlands (they are not looking too bad). It is going to cool off this week, so I will tackle the front perennial bed. I want to redo/move plants in there this fall, so I need to prep it.

I did order 6 black raspberries and 6 black berry plants --- for hubby to enjoy! I have the one bed dug and ready for when the plants arrive, and need to double dig the other bed. I will do that when it is a bit cooler.

Michele -- I forgot, the school's in Japan are year round, correct? How do you like that? How do they work?

Sammi -- Good for you trying yoga-- it is not for wimps. I love yoga! I don't currently do a program, but grew up doing it regularly. I still do some basic stretches and stability moves to maintain. It has become incorporated into my after run cool down routine. Flexibility is so important!

SmokeyB -- Enjoy the day with hubby and friends!

Fiona -- glad to see you back. Take care and I will make it a point to check out your blog!

Well, it is about that time -- I need to get moving to get to those classes!

Good Morning Sparklers --- it's another lovely day. We should get some rain this weekend with the tropical storm headed to the Gulf.

Shire, way to go --- congrats.

Fiona, welcome back -- missed you. Keep feeling better.

Maci -- have you ever been to the Catamaran -- I love to walk around the grounds and see all the birds and ducks and ponds --- when we lived in Scottsdale, we used to stay there once or twice a year. Even the lobby has that neat waterfall ---

Michele -- enjoy the liquid sunshine --

I did my first ever Yoga class yesterday -- I'm not going to decide how I feel about it til after the next visit -- it was very different then I expected. I think I liked it.

Have a wonderful weekend Spark Friends -- Blessings, Sammi emoticon

MICHELE Glad you are having rain.

Today I am spending time with husband and friends. This is the day I eat the foods I want and not feel guilty. By the way I have no boat. I used that to show I have not exercised for awhile due to being ill.

All have a great week-end. Next time

Hi everyone
Just popping in to try and touch base. I have been so busy.
Thank you for missing me.

If you check out my blog (below) you will see a bit of what I have been trying to do and get caught up with things.

Things has lessened in the meetings etc so I am now gaining a bit more me time.

Omg, I am so pist! not really. but I wrote you all earlier today and it has magically disappeared. grrrr. Thankfully I still have my notes, I write a little note everytime I talk on this team to remind myself what I want to say to each one of you. It's very handy and a good idea!!! I just take any paper i have used fold it in 4th's and tear it. I use the back, this lil stack of papers for my notes, no waste.

*Mich- YOur hubs is really lucky, everyman wants to have a brd baking amish women type. How lucky you are to have your doc take the time for special treatment , you deserve it!
*Bonnie- hope you had fun at your fam reunion today. That is so sad about your friend/neighbor. My gma died at 52 when my mom was that age of ambolisms/stroke, that is why when my arm started acking for no reason I ran to the ER!

*Shire- Perfect plan for your 10Ks , I used to play up to 6 hrs a day tennis (2 matches instead of 1) and loved it, but just knew it couldnt' be good for injurys, so I chose to slow down too, I only play 2 to 2.5 hrs a day now (1 match) but play 5 to 6 days a wk. This is the first time I have had an injury and it wasn't even from tennis, go figure!

*Shanti- I am a totally nice dirty fighter too! I play competitive tennis, league matches all around SD county, I tell ya, competition does not bring out the best in some. when we are playing someone who is mean and critical, I tell my partner , don't let them get to you, it will ruin your game, if we decide to be happy instead, they will ruin their own game. Hey, we are the #1 team in our league. (wonder why) and noone can say we wern't nice and have great sportsmanship!

*Sammi- I hope tonight you had a "yeah, I feel good" celebration dinner! You have such a good attitude.
*Iner- welcome! glad you joined us today.
*Smoky- I was laughing when you said you were having a sea food diet, the only one of those I ever heard of and have claimed myself is a "see food diet" swim girl swim!

*Ama- What a great blessing this morn to get your movin. OMG losing your mom so young is so sad, I hung out w/my mom today at the beach/pool , she had me when she was 16 so we have alot in common. inc and esp family. I can't imagine life w/o her even though sometimes she drives me nuts! Weed and Dunk sounds like a perfect plan!

Today was awesome, went to the beach and my bros condo pool (looks like hawaii, waterfalls, tropical plants, coy fish etc) w/gkids, & Mom today, It was at the end of my street! I can see the beach, he lives on it! The older gkids (Blake 11, Leah 10, Addie 9) all taught Brianna (5) how to swim, and she swam clear across the pool 4X w/o help, than started doing frount and back flips in the water, than started doing handstands;. It was amazing, she started doggie paddling, than went to underwater swimming, than started doing the swimmers crawl, than she watched the older kids do the backstoke and guess what, she did that too. . She was fully swim trained by the time we got done, Plus we showed her how to float on her back and she did it no prob. If I wasn 't there to see it i would not of believed it.

Penguine -- it was good! I have lumbar stenosis, so I (literally) feel your pain, though I'm not having an "episode" atm. I had an energy drink early this morning, then started out. 1 mile run, 1 minute walk. After about 6 miles they got really long there for awhile, and then I realized I forgot to do my Gu at the 5-mile mark. Then I felt fine again.

One new thing -- got 4 miles into it and could NOT talk myself into not having to pee. Usually if I have that problem it's "runner's trots," but no, not this time. I finally found a spot on the trail that had no ditch and some really tall weeds between the path and the soybean field! Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. :D After that, no worries.

It was a good run. I felt strong clear through the end. My hip area felt tired, but no foot pain, no back pain, and good lungs. It took me about 2:05 to do 10.5 miles. Not a great pace, but hey, I burned a lot of calories! (1724.5!).

Still sending prayers for that pesky left eye to begin to cooperate!

Thanks to all of you for all of the prayers I know they are helping.

To those of you with husbands who have difficult times, congratulations on no involving yourself in the madness. It seems that they all come out of it after a while, so good luck during the rough patches.

Not going to write much now, need to get into the pool for a bit, then go to the Credit Union, the chiropractor, then get ready to go to reunion later this afternoon.

Michelle, thanks for checking on Fiona. Good to know her son is better, and hope she feels better soon as well.

Have a great weekend my friends. I will check in this evening or in the morning, if I am not too tired.

Just thought I'd drop a line to say thanks for good wishes on my run. I was worried about it because two weeks ago I did a 9-mile run that was not good. But the night before I had had an upset stomach and little sleep, and I think that had a lot to do with it. This time I ate well the night before, got a good night's sleep, drank an energy drink before, and a gu about half-way through the 10.5 miles. I felt strong all the way through to the end. I'm doing a Jeff Galloway app called Easy10K, and he advocates walking breaks. I want to run for as many years as I can, rather than win races, so I'm trying to run sensibly. After each mile on the long run I walk for one minute. It really makes a huge difference in not only the run, but the recovery.

Thanks again!

Good morning all! Providence has had a way of watching out for my health this summer -- I got up this morning and was trying to talk myself into a run when a friend texted me to go with a run with her and her baby... of course I went with her! What a great run, and with a wonderful friend. Can't get better than that!

Today I do need to go to a viewing. A friend of mine lost her mom to breast cancer. Her mom was only 53. My friend, Sarah, is only 27 and will not have her mom around for her wedding, the birth of her children and more... I cannot even imagine her pain and sense of loss.

SmokeyB -- glad to hear you are feeling better. Soon you will be back to all those activities you love!

Shire33 -- Good luck on your race! You have done so well and are in inspiration!! Where is your race? Make sure you drink a little at each of the water stands along the race. They provided an energy goo pack about half way through mine -- a much appreciated boost!

Marija -- It is a small world indeed! How do you like Kensington? From what I know it is a nice place. I am in an area that is rapidly developing, but still has its rural roots. When I run, my trail takes me along a dairy farm -- mmmmm fresh country air, haha!

Sandi -- looking forward to hearing about the concert!

Michele -- I had to laugh when I read your post on your husband "living out loud" Dang, so true... I think I may just borrow that; if only to keep my own sanity! Lol Glad to hear your eyes are doing better! Thanks for checking on Fiona, glad to hear she is doing okay.

Patti -- Welcome! I can appreciate your frustration with the lack of movement on the scale. It took me a year to lose 20 pounds, but in that same year I lost 2 sizes! Remember, that muscle is so much more dense than fat, you are moving and toning. Don't lose heart. As long as you continue to move and eat what you truly need, it will move you towards greater health.

Maci -- Hi! Glad to see you feeling better. Yep, I need to check in with the challenge -- got to find it again! haha School starts again in about 3 weeks. Going to need to work hard to manage my time to check in here for motivation. I have tweaked my eating habits and improved over the summer -- no movement in the scale, but that will come. I did need to buy a "modern fit" size shorts instead of my usual "curvy" so something is happening. The measuring tape is my true friend. The scale, well, it will come along!

Bonnie -- Wonderful news about your dad! Enjoy the reunion.

Shanti -- I agree with you. It has taken a long time to learn to live well with someone with depression. We cannot fix them. The best way to help them is to be there for them, while taking care of ourselves. Recognizing the times that painful actions/words are from their illness is important.

Michele, Shanti --- do your hubbies remember their actions/words when they are low?

Sammi -- So glad to hear you and hubby are in a better place!

Off to check in on the christmas challenge and get some weeding done -- dang it's hot out there. I think the weeding is going to go like this... pull a few weeds, go for a dunk in the pool... pull more weeds... dunk again... repeat! HaHa

Until tomorrow, take care!

Suzanne

Hello all.

I have just contacted fiona on facebook. (she seems to be on the same time zone or nearly as tokyo)
her son daniel is all better & back to work.
She said she has been rather busy, & is now fighting a cold & doesn't feel like doing much of anything. Her knee is acting up, despite taking it easy & not exercising. She will be back with us soon.

Have a good weekend, all!

Bonnie, I'm so sorry to hear about your parents' neighbor! Sixty-three is quite young. I will keep them in my prayers

Sammi How wa s your yoga class? Are you going to continue with it?

Shanti, you are so right about husbands. I am ignoring his bad moods. I can't control them. they aren't my fault, & it seems no matter what I do, until he diecides to come out of it, I just have to let it be.

Fiona has a facebook site---I will go there & leave a message for her. Maybe that way we will hear from her.

My eyes are better, at least the rt. one is. Yesterday (thursday) Dr. Koyama couldn't take the stitches out of my left eye---the wound isn't completely closed yet. He is opening his small clinic in Tokyo on Sunday (he is closed on Sundays) just to take a look at my eye. My husband Tad, who happened to be best elementary school friends with Dr. Koyama, is going to go with me. I'll keep you all posted.

Have a good weekend, all! Bonnie, enjoy your reunion. Please fill us in on all the details! Love to hear about your adventures!

Hi Everyone! emoticon

Bonnie- Im sorry to hear about your parents neighbor. When our loved one go out the door we take it for granted that they will return at the appointed time, we are never prepared something like this. When the time is right please tell Pat that her decision to donate her husbands organs is greatly appreciated by many. What a wonderful gift she is giving to others.

You are so right One day at a time, and I will add be forever grateful for all our many blessing. Enjoy your family reunion.

Michelle-You fight dirty just like I do, making your husband Amish bread, when he is living out loud. When my DH is starting down the path of depression sometimes I make one of his favorite food for him, its a quiet way of saying I love you, and it remind me that it is his problem. We will kill them with simple acts of kindness. lol

Maci- Keep listening to your body, allow it to heal and then slowly build it back up, you will be glad that you did. I wish I would have done that after my accident, I pushed on not allowing the healing to take place and ended up with problems. Finally Im getting back to almost normal, if I only knew what normal was.

Patti-Welcome to our group! Im with you cant wait for school to start, JRs first day is Sept 4th.

Sammi-Enjoy your yoga class.

Im excited we finally found a Respite Aid to help with JR. They spent a little time together this week, all went well. He will be taking him on outings once a week that will give me a much needed break. We did go on a few enjoyable bike rides, until JR decided to fix my bike, it wasnt broken at the time, now it needs major repair. We go for walks with the dogs, when he is willing, its usually once or twice a week. DH has been working 65 hrs a week so Ive been on my own most of the time, if I want me time I have to wait until he is here to take JR.

Has anyone heard from Fiona? I hope she and her son are O.K.

Well its off to bed.
Have a happy Friday!

Shanti

MACI

Glad to see you feeling better and up and around.

MICHELE

Prayers for serenity. How are your eyes doing?

SHIRE

Good luck with your race, see that you have also come a long way already, congrats.

I wanted to talk to everyone, but my eyes are closing.

I think Maci said most of what I wanted to say, so just reread her post! LOL.

Dad is pretty good today. he and Mom went for a walk this evening after the sun went down. Think that gave him a good feeling.

Our family reunion begins tomorrow, it is at a campgrounds about an hour from home, so we just drive there and back each day. NO camping for this old girl!

Thinking that Dad will make at least one day. He cannot legally drive for 6 months after having passed out, so mom is the driver now. Did not realize it was a law until the cardiologist told us that. Sounds like a good law.

With all that has gone on this week, I am asking for prayers for my mom and dad's wonderful neighbor Pat, and her children. She is 56, her husband 63. He passed out on Tuesday at work, fell and hit his head. Fractured his skull very badly. I guess they had a little time once she got to the hospital to hold hands and talk a bit, but his brain swelled so severely that there was no hope. Not sure if he died from whatever made him pass out, or from the fracture. There will be an autopsy.

She is donating his organs, and the hospital is very good and letting her know what is going on with that. I know it is giving her some solace. I saw her this morning, and my heart is just broken.

Once again I am reminded to live, One day at a time.

I am both physically, mentally and emotionally drained at the moment. Had the girls all day today, so that helped to feed my soul, but I am just so sad.

God Bless you all my friends, old and new, and prayers.

I am not sure if I will be able to sleep for a bit, but am going to lay down soon. Good night dears.

Maci, it's so good!!! that you are feeling better. Remember, slowly, girl! I have a lot of experience in back problems.

Patty, welcome! We have a lot of good support here. We are all like a 2nd family to each other. We talk/ share a lot, & it's not always about weight.

I just finished making Amish bread. I put wheat germ into it. Whole grain/brown breads are nearly non-existant here & my husband likes his bread\ toast for b-fast. I usually just eat oatmeal. I was very successful at it, so I'm going to try it again.

Now, onto lunch!

Hello all!

I'm pretty new here. I must say, I'm really inspired by all of you... just looking at your tickers! Fantastic progress!

I've just recently joined and recently gotten back to focusing on shedding the excess 25 lbs or so that have crept on in the past few years. Eating-wise, I'm currently trying out the "Belly Fat Cure" plan. I've done low-carb diets before, but not for long. This is one I think I can live with, because it does allow a small amount of whole-grain products and just encourages you to be aware of the hidden sugars in everything.

I really, REALLY need to get back to being more active. I had been working out like crazy, starting last fall. For four months, I did nearly an hour a day of cardio dance, six days a week... hoping to shed some weight and maybe sleep better (insomnia is one of my HUGE problems right now)... and I think all I did was over-stress my body. I was going at it too hard! I didn't lose an ounce and although I felt more toned, I wasn't sleeping any better. Then one day, I just sort of got frustrated and stopped. I think it would be a good thing to get back to... but just maybe for 20-30 mins, 4 days a week.

I have a 16-yr-old daughter who is disabled, and now that she's been home all day on summer vacation, I don't have as much freedom to get out and walk or do as much. School starts on August 29th!!! The countdown is ON! She loves school, so I think she will be happy, too.:)

Keep on keeping on, my friends!

Glad I found everyone! Going to a really good concert tonight - the "Golden Boys of Rock & Roll". It was supposed to be Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, and Fabian - but Bobby just had a double organ transplant. Rumor has it that Lou Christie will substitute. Anyway - it should be a blast!

Hi Everyone, Week is flying in a good way. Thanks to everyone for listening. It helped because I changed my outlook and am seeing that I have many happy people around me - Sparkers included. Sounds as if health issues are resolving, slowly but surely and I am happy to read that. I wish all you sports warriors Olympic triumphs.

Wish me luck with my 10-mile run tomorrow. I'm nervous about it. But I'm prepping today by how I space my meals, what I eat, getting enough sleep, and hydrating. Taking along a "gu" energy gel packet for half-way through. I'm looking forward to it, in a twisted kind of way. :D

I have 16 pounds to lose yet, and I'm feeling really motivated to get busy with it.

Good morning,

Finally able to eat. Mouth not too painful. I slept for three days straight and on 2000 mg a day of antibiotics. Not going to push it with exercising until next week. Would like to do the Christmas challenge. Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning Sparklers --- found you!

Maci, so glad you're back --- keep on healing.

Laurie, your walk sounds great -- I walked at the Mall at 7:00 a.m. -- did my two miles --- it's so nice and cool early and just a few worker bees around.

Everyone sounds good -- going to check out a yoga class tomorrow morning -- I'm trying to change up some of what I do --- almost was at my goal -- just a bit more. Then on to the Christmas Challenge.

Blessings Spark Friends, Sammi emoticon

Good morning all -- I am going to college park to spend the day with my DD today, YEAH!!!

Maci, it is good to see you posting again. We missed you! I do agree with your post about people, that you cannot change the way people act (that is something each individual is in charge of...). It is frustrating when people are 'political,' personally, I think being that way must be exhausting. It is much easier to be straight up with folks and to accept people for who and what they are. I am not saying you need to like everyone, just accept them.

good morning sparklers! I can't sleep, truthfully I have slept enough for a mo of rest since my injury, maybe it's a good sign that my body wants to wake up and get back to moving again! It's as tired of being sick and tired as my mind is! Today I am really ackey, but am determinded to keep moving. You are right I must be careful to not rehurt myself, yesterday I filled in my tennis matches w/subs for next wk too. Oh do I miss my tennis, and tennis lunches, friends.

*Laurie, your walk sounds so fun, and you even jumped in the water too? Awesome.
*Nina- I am putting in your * for cking in for the christmas challenge. No worries we have 4.5 mos to catch up to the goal. I haven't even lost a pd yet, so girl you are way ahead of me.

I think the hardest thing in life besides eating right (teehee) is learning how to not let others actions get in our head and ruin our lives. What I have found is that they are just living their lives outloud and really don't care what impact they create. You can talk till your blue in the face and they don't get it. They don't care because they don't feel it the same way. I am a tennis captain of 12 women + subs I have learned you can't change any of em, told to me from a past captain, the loud ones will stay loud, the late ones, mean ones, poor sportsmanship ones, nice ones, caring ones etc will stay exactly who they are. You cannot retrain grown ups who don't want to change. Best to learn to remember that what they are doing or saying is really them living themselves outloud. Ignore it! It isn't going to go away, and you arn't going to change it. Enjoy the good parts!

Thanks Marija, and thanks again everyone! Last night an acquaintance told me about various sociable fitness opportunities, including Wednesday morning hikes. So this morning I got up early (for me) and went on a 5-mile hike through woods and across a low tide sand bridge to a smaller island. (I thought the access would be like a narrow spit, but it was a wide expanse). I even wore my bathing suit and went in the water while the others were eating. Woo hoo! I think all I needed was a bit of fun. I love walking/hiking.
Good luck dealing with the nasty people. I know they don't listen when we tell them to stop.

Hi fellow Sparkers!

Whew! I missed one day reading the board and so much has happened! I didn't lose even 1 pound this week. Can't figure out what's going wrong. Maci, will you please put me down as not having lost this week for the Christmas weigh-in? The week before I only lost one pound. But I'm NOT giving up!

BONNIE
So sorry to hear about your father. i thought I read somewhere that he's doing okay now, but I can't find it to verify. How is he?

BRENDA
So glad they finally figured out what the heck is going on with you! Hope you are well on your way to not suffering.

MACI
Welcome back! So glad you are feeling so much better. The challenge I always have when I start feeling better is to not over do it. Take it easy.

MARIJA
I'm so sorry that your brother feels free to make you the butt of his jokes. What I wanted to suggest was that you might just want to stay away from him totally. I wonder what makes him think that it's okay to treat anybody like that -- much less his sister. Have you ever expressed how much it hurts you and that you want him to stop. It's totally up to you, of course, if you want to continue to take his ridicule. But it sounds like you're turning over a new leaf by working on yourself. Maybe this is another place you want to turn over a new leaf?

I can't remember who asked the question about who was the swimmer from my town -- it's Ryan Lochte (sp?). I read something a couple of days ago that said that he isn't the only one!

NJ
Thanks for starting the August thread! Hope all of you have a great day tomorrow. I'm headed to bed. Am going to see my grandkids tomorrow. Hurrah!!!

Maci, you have a really healthy attitude towards the negative people all around. Have to keep reminding myself that people have unseen challenges worse than mine. I think I'll try that "walking around the house" thing to keep my neighbor from spoiling my good mood. She's the one who is manic depressive, and chanted all the bad things she could think about me, to the lawn care tech about 3 weeks ago, until he had to go to his truck to get away. She's even confronted me in my own garage to tell me all the awful things she can think about me, and that the other neighbors thought so too. I always keep my voice down and politely excuse myself and go inside, but if there are real witches with capital B's around, she is one. I could use a protection spell. Or maybe exorcism?

Hi all my team friends, I have been flakey w/my sparkin the last 1.5 wks. Most of you know I am about as active as they come, I pulled something in my neck/back 1/2 way through the month and have been couch ridden since. My next door neighbor lady asked my hubs if I broke my neck , because my car hasn't moved and I am usually off and running my 8am! today is my first day moving. I am bound and determined to start my healing now! Yesterday I got off the "big" pain pills and today I am only on muscle relaxers, I am gonna move slowly today, and spend lots of time in the jacuzzi. Wish me luck!

Are you loving the olympics? The girls gymnastics team is amazing, it was awesome watching them last night. The swimmers are awesome too. I love hearing their stories.

Dealing w/others: grrrr I find most people are just bitchy! When I run across anyone who wants to be unhappy I give them a hug, and move on! Lifes to short to let anyone take away your joy. My life motto is "I'm to blessed to be stressed, to rich to bitch, and lifes to neat to overeat" I say that to myself alot. I had to learn to stop the crazy mean people from being inside my head. I Live across the street from my DD;s EX who she left last yr, and the man is determined to ruin my zen. I just visualize a shower curtain between our homes and think if he gets in my head, he wins. Than I say my motto again and again until I start believing it. Believe it or not it works, it takes time though. I also walked around my home saying prayers of safety, and repeat the word justice be done! when it gets really bad. It has slowed down. thankgod. (I'm talking slashed tires kind of stuff here) If I can get through this crap and still see the goodness and joy in the world you can to!

Well time to get moving, my goal for today is to move instead of sit, I liked you said that Ama, I am gonna be back to my best by the end of this month if I can help it. Today the sun is shining and as my motto goes "I AM" time to enjoy my new ability to walk around my home, maybe by this wkend I will be able to walk the beach again. Life is good, sometimes we just have to see the good around us. Today i am lookin!

Oh Christmas challenge weigh in is today! If you didn't lose no worries, post anyways so I can put a star by your name! we have 4.5 mos left, plenty of time!!!

Wow -- August already! This summer, even with all the studying I have done, has been a good one. This week I have been back on track working out each day and moving (instead of sitting) the rest of the day. It helps that my gardens are in serious need of attention! haha

Today is a bit rainy, so it might just be the perfect day to take an hour or two to go in and reset up my desk, demo desk and lab benches.... or maybe I will stay home and read... stay tuned for my decision! emoticon

I send my thoughts your way for your dad and hope the meds adjust.

Michelle,
I have a picture in my mind of a pirate with an eye patch, get your pirate on while you wait to heal!

Nina,
It's OK, advice is welcome. I am on pins and needles when I say anything to him, waiting for him to pounce and make an issue of something. We have a long history, and there were many times he was in my corner as a big brother, but it seems as we grew older the separation grew further. I have to tell you with all my complaining I am a lucky person and blessed and he is not. Some of our luck we make, some is given.

Shanti -

My aunt told me that when my uncle died cardinals would come to her backyard and she found solace in that and now I look in nature for hope, its always there isn't it?
I do understand that he is unhappy and has a short fuse now, but that doesn't mean I have to accept the abuse, especially since he won't help himself. I admit I can give advice only from a certain point, since, obviously I don't do all the things I need to do to help myself, but I don't have the right to dump on others because of it.

Laurie:
I am a day late (always the case with me) but, Probably you have gotten a check-up first. Much as I hate doing swim laps, when I get out of the pool I feel great. Walking doesn't do that for me. My grandkids keep me young, but also tell me how old I am.
Seems as if everyone is on the same page here about prioritizing - take it easy on the chores, save your energy for fun.

I think it is a mental thing, too. Find things to love, things to do. And great connecting with a friend.

dahligrower - Mary - arija, my brother is just like yours. Except that he doesn't think he's being obnoxious, and has a little laugh when he needles me and needles me until I've had enough and I get mad. I think the little laugh is his way of saying he's better than I am, and that he won!
It's been going on for years, so I can completely sympathize with your pain. Instead of eating my frustrations, though, I avoided all places where he would be. Your moving away is probably the best thing you could do for yourself. Good for you.

SHARONPENNING -
Congratulations on your daughter's grad. Babysitting is tough job, especially 12 hours a day

To all my spark friends, have a good day...Marija
