Too bad, Michele. Try it two ways: highlight

and make sure you have the whole string, or go to Community tab and type in the group 50+ with 10 to 24 pounds and then click the August thread. This one is closed now.

Brenda I'm so glad for you that you have a good friend who made you go to the dr.! We often forget to take care of ourselves, don't we? Sometimes I think our bodies just change for no apparent reason. I hope you continue to feel better.

Bonnie, good to hear your dad is doing well. I keep you in my prayers.

If we ever get on the Aug. chat thread, please let me know! You are all second family to me.

blessings to all of you

Good Afternoon everyone,

I went to my regular doctor this afternoon and he said I am having allergic reactions to something and I probably didn't even have a yeast infection. The meds I am taking are for allergies and it is working. My downstairs neighbor came up and threatened me with bodily harm if I didn't go see my doctor. I had to promise her I would call them and get a second opinion. I haven't changed detergents or eaten any different foods so who knows what is going on. I soaked in an Epsom Salts bath this morning and it seemed to help. The rash on my arm is going away. Makes me wonder about the doctors at Urgent Care because they never did call me to tell me my lab reports. If I am not feeling better by Friday morning I am to call my doctor back. I've had no fever.so that is a good sign.

The power was out at the doctor's office so the repair crews were out trying to find the source. I thought they had the lights turned off so the office would stay cool.

Bonnie it is great to hear your dad is back home. Now maybe you can get some rest.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. My dad came home today. They tested everything, and can't find out why his heart rate dropped. Hoping it was just an isolated incident, can't do much else.

He is 86 years old, I want him to enjoy what time he has left. Think he will be ok for a while longer.

LAURIE

Good idea to get out more. Hope you enjoy the friends you will be with.

BRENDA

Hope you are better.

MICHELE

Hope you eye is healing.

SAMMI

Are you feeling well these days?

Take care my friends.

I don't know how to begin the new thread, I think that Maci, and maybe Fiona know how. Sorry, if they do not start an Aug thread pretty soon, I will try to see if I can learn to do it.

Give me a day or two to wait for them.

Laurie I agree with Sammi---exercising with others can be a lot of fun. When I do aerobisc, I enjoy doing it with others. I always swim by my self & I also walk by myself just because there is no one to do it with.

Another hot day here. I have to go to Dr. Koyama to have the stitches taken out of my left eye.

Yes, Sammi, where are fiona & Maci? Hope you both are well. Hope you are well today. I think of you & keep you in my prayers.

Laurie, it always makes exercise and walking more enjoyable when you can join friends --- goes more quickly and makes you look forward to the next time. I do my bike at home, but prefer to go to the gym and people watch.

Michele, prayers for healing.

Bonnie, prayers for your father --- good for him for keepin on keepin on.

Brenda, glad you are feeling better. So blessed to live in the company of other caring people. What comes around, goes around.

Dahlia, uplifting and wise.

Maci and Fiona, where are you and how are you.

Thank you all for your suggestions and words of wisdom. And thank you Dahlia for your question. I do have a gym membership and love to walk, but I often feel I don't have time to get out there, so I just exercise at home. But doing it at home alone is starting to get to me (I also work at home). Tonight an acquaintance mentioned that she goes walking with other people twice a week and to the gym once a week, and she said I was welcome to come. I think this is just what I need to inject some joy into my exercise routine and make some other aspects of my life seem less blah. I suspect that boredom and loneliness has been a big part of the problem.
Happy midsummer to all (happy midwinter if you're in the southern hemisphere)!

Bonnie,

Many emoticon and prayers for you and your family that your dad improves quickly. It is good he was with family when he passed out so that he was helped right away. Who knows what may have happened if he had been home and passed out in another room and your mom wasn't near by.

Brenda, Michele, and anyone else having issues, I am sending prayers.

I was able to skim the posts, but am very tired, so just want you all to know I am sending good thoughts and prayers to all of you as well.

My dad passed out yesterday, and spent about 11 hours in the ER. Lots of test, etc. All negative. Got my mom and the girls to go home, and I stayed with him until they got him a room about midnight.

Today, more tests. It seems that the cardiologist thinks he needs an adjustment in his meds. He has a small aneurysm that cannot be repaired, and one that has been repaired. So, they give him drugs to keep his blood pressure low.

Yesterday, he passed out because his heart rate dropped to about 50. Right after he passed out, Ronnie, my nephew in law, he is a EMT, could not get a pulse in dad's right arm, and only 50 in his left.

They have taken him off all his meds, and are observing him in the hospital. They are hoping the med adjustment will solve the problem. If not he may have to have a pacemaker.

He is 86 years old, and has some health issues, but he just keeps on going, and keeps himself physically active and on the go. So, hoping that he will have some more time.

My mom is a real trooper. She just deals with it all, and stays calm.

Anyway, it has been a rough couple of days, so that is why I missed yesterday, and am just catching you up today.

Bed soon, so goodnight all!

Bonnie

DG, it seems as tho I am allergic to a lot of drugs, now I have four on my list. I take no prescriptions on a regular basis, staying pretty healthy and I don't like going through this. I wish I knew what caused it but may never know.

Michelle,

Still praying that your eye heals the way it is supposed to. What a terrible thing to happen.

The sun is shining brightly today and here I sit indoors resting. I took a nap on my little loveseat for about an hour this afternoon so am feeling a little peppier. I cleaned and sliced a cantelouple for dinner and snacks.

Take care of yourself.

Brenda, I'm glad you're feeling a little better. That benedryl is versatile stuff. Makes skin stop itching, dries up runny noses and helps you sleep (the pm in Tylenol PM). What you described sounded a lot like an allergic reaction, but i always hesitate to give an opinion that might make things worse if I was wrong and you listened to me. I also agree you have some very nice neighbors. Sounds like you qualify as a nice neighbor too. They're lucky to have you living near.

Michelle, sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with this surgery so far. Better days are coming soon. Droopy eyelid doesn't sound too permanent to me. After all, it's been through some trauma lately. Several times in fact. When i had shingles last winter, my eyelid was pretty droopy from being swollen. Took a little time but finally shaped up. Keep us posted on how you're doing please.

Laurie, the ladies are right about prioritizing things. Not everything is equally important. At the same time. For instance, houses need to look very good for company. Except for those who have already seen it looking nice once so they don't need to be reminded every time. Either does family. Unless of course you want to count housework as exercise, and "my fitness" has housework as a choice for exercise. Never have used it but it's there. Do you have a health club membership, or are you planning to walk and bike for fitness?

Brenda how wonderful for you to have such good, kind neighbors! I'm glad you're feeling better.

Sammi, I still send prayers your way. You sound positive.

My left eye isn't doing so well. Had to be restitched last Saturday after the stitches were taken out too soon. It is droopy & I can't open it up very much. Hopefully, as I beccome more patient, this will take care of itself. Hve to have the stitches taken out this coming up
thrusday.

have a good day tomorrow, all!

Good Morning everyone,

I went back to Urgent Care last evening and found I have been having a allergic reaction to the medication. Now I am on another medicine to counteract the swelling, itching and pain and finally slept last night, only waking up once to slather on more itch cream.

My neighbor, Ruth, tapped on my door just before I left for Urgent Care with a plate of baked chicken, stuffing and rice. She even cut my chicken for me. I ate the chicken right away as I was starving, only having a slice of toast with peanutbutter for breakfast. I haven't felt like eating much the last few days. When I got back home Faith at the other end of the hall came to my door to see if I am all right. She has major heart/breathing problems and can't walk very far but she came to my door with her walker to check on me. I am glad I moved here because this is where I need to be with caring neighbors. When she went to the hospital last time we all went in and cleaned her apartment for her and she was thrilled because she had not been able to do much. She has a caregiver now a couple days a week.

When I went to the drugstore to have my new prescriptions filled I told them I was allergic to the last two meds so that is in the computer. For sleeping I am now taking two Benedryl before bed and it worked pretty good. Nelson next door returned my heating pad and offered me some of his sleeping pills but I told him 'thanks but no thanks'. I'm taking MethylPrednisolone tablet pack for the next six days. It says to 'keep patient under close observation of a physician' so I guess I'd best be aware of what happens, if anything. Scary.

I love the story about the Hummingbirds.

Have a great day everyone. Thanks for being here.

Good Morning Sparklers --- the sun is out for now --- it rained almost the entire day yesterday, a total surprise. The temps were down and it was refreshing having a rainy day.

Linda, I agree -- as you get older you find that all priorities are really not -- I have good energy days and not so good --- what gets done gets done. It's important to be flexible in life.

Shanti, excellent words of wisdom. Thank you for sharing the hummingbird story --- I have always been brightened by their presence.

For me it's the small things that make my day happy. Lovely clouds, hummingbirds, flowers, beautiful birds, cats playing, a smile, a kind word, feeling good.

I hope Michele, Maci, Brenda and Fiona are all doing better today. Blessings Spark Friends.

Laurie - I'm just a couple of weeks away from 60 too. I've gradually come to the conclusion that some of the errands and "responsibilities" may be optional, instead of required. Sometimes it's more important to take a (brisk) walk with a friend or just sit outside and read a magazine. My house is not as dust-free as my neighbors and my toenails aren't polished and my dinners only take 20 minutes to fix (no fancy cooking unless it's a special occasion). It's now ok to focus more on what YOU need and what keeps you energized/happy.

If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.

Sammi- When I was a child someone told me that hummingbirds are sent by the angels to bring blessings to you. I had forgotten about it until my best friend had cancer a few years ago, I noticed that there were hummingbirds at both her living room and bedroom windows everyday. When we went out into the yard, they were in the garden as well. One day her daughter said to me ďGod really loves my mom a lot, look at all the hummingbirds he has sent to bless her.Ē Prayers and hugs for you and your husband.

Laurie- Look at what you can do today, one day at a time. Yoga for 10 min in am, and again just before bed. Walk around the block after dinner. Baby steps, you will soon find that you have more energy.

Sharon- Tell your daughter congratulations on 200hr certification. Encourage her to enjoy the journey and to teach. Maybe you can get your little walking partner back when she does so.

Marija- You mentioned that your brother use to be the best brother in the world, now he is nasty to you. You also mentioned that he has some major medical problems. Could it be that he afraid, and knows that he can get away with yelling at you? JR gets nasty with me, we are working with a therapist who comes to our house, after getting to know JR, and watching the way he is toward me, the therapist told me that JR is afraid that I will leave him. JR has lost so much in his short life, he is afraid to get close to me, he is afraid that I will leave him like so many others have, he is trying to control it by negative behavior. He is saying through his behavior, everyone leaves me, you will to, so letís hurry up and get it over with. We do not have to accept their behavior, just accept that their anger is based on their own fear and pain, not on any thing that we did.

Brenda- Hope you went back to the Doctor, Iím so sorry that you are going through this.
When you feel better please tell us more about your little sandwich/soup restaurant, I would love to hear more about it.

Lynn- I think others have mentioned about your windshield, please get it fixed as soon as you can, if you havenít already done so. A broken windshield is a safety hazard, the windshield is like a support wall on a house.

Did you ever notice that we complain about the weather all the time? Itís to hot, to cold, we havenít had any rain, itís raining again! It just makes me laugh when we go from it hasnít rained to its raining again.

Prayers for everyone, that you all find inner peace, and the strength to meet your goals.
emoticon
Have a great Tuesday.

Shanti

Hi everyone! I'm a relatively new member, and I check in daily on the Goals/Resolutions thread. I'll be 60 this year and still have to make a living, eat, sleep, do housework, run errands, etc. I'm in good health but definitely feel like I'm slowing down, and I even need to lie down for a while every day. I'm reposting my question from another thread because nobody has answered it yet. Here it is:

As I age I seem to have less "time" (energy) for work, exercise, and everything else. But at the same time I need to exercise more to keep my weight down, energy, flexibility, heart health, etc. How do the rest of you deal with this contradiction?

Thanks,
Laurie

Today was not what I expected. Left for the dentist at 8:50 AM and they tried to call me at 9:10 AM to let me know the partial was not done. So back home to soft food and soup. Got a call this afternoon they want to see my at noon tomorrow for a fitting. That tells me that even tomorrow will not be the end of it. I obviously was not aware of nor asked enough questions as to what to expect through this whole procedure. Probably better that I didn't know. Oh well, it is what it is and evidentially it will be all okay.

Hi everyone! It's storming again today (as it did yesterday). I can't believe we are getting so much rain, but my yard and gardens are certainly a lot happier.

MARIJA
I was wondering if it's okay with you if I offer up some suggestions and comments about the situation with your brother? I understand if you prefer that I do not.

I'm back to painting today but getting a very late start. Better get going. Hope all of you are having a good day!

hi there --

There is so much going on and so many of you are suffering so and here I sit worried about a test, that if needed I can retake. It puts it all into perspective.

I am just thrilled that we are all here to support one another.

It appears that providence was looking out for me this morning... I woke up lazy and talked myself out of running then got a text from a dear friend. We ended up running together with her baby (in running stroller) -- It was so good to run and chat with her again! It made the miles fly by! Her baby slept through most of it and is simply adorable.

I need to figure out how to add my pic to my id box ... will get on that... later!

My Saturday was a "take care of me day"-nails, hair, facial, stretching, a little strength exercises and to bed early. Did great on the food plan.
Sunday was awesome! Went to my daughters graduation. She just finished her 200 hours for yoga teaching certification. And I thought the yoga was a fad. Seems she's been doing it since age 16, but really hasn't talked about it much. Anyway, since she's done I will no longer have my grandson 12 hours a day 4 days a week. Today I have him for a couple of hours, but we will go for a walk and the time will go quickly. I can walk a little faster with the stroller instead of my walker, so I can count it as my exercise for the day!

Marija, my brother is just like yours. Except that he doesn't think he's being obnoxious, and has a little laugh when he needles me and needles me until I've had enough and I get mad. I think the little laugh is his way of saying he's better than I am, and that he won!
It's been going on for years, so I can completely sympathize with your pain. Instead of eating my frustrations, though, I avoided all places where he would be. Your moving away is probably the best thing you could do for yourself. Good for you.

Ginger, i knit and crochet both. Right now i"m crocheting an afghan of my own design. It's a favorite because it goes so fast, and looks complicated while being very easy. I needed a wedding gift with only a few weeks notice.

hope everyone else is doing all right today. As so many of your have said. One day at a time. Remembering that has helped me get through a lot of days lately.

Hi Everyone, I haven't sparked in a couple of days, trying to get my plan together. I am hurting and using food to avoid how I felt about my brother's and sister-in-laws recent visit.I have not gained weight, but haven't lost either. My brother and I (or should I say I?) have been having issues for awhile now and I am sad and angry and essentially avoid him. For a long time at get-togethers I have been the butt of his and my cousin's jokes. I mentioned this behavior to another cousin (sister of jokester #2) and she said that if she sides with me they will turn on her. Her mother, my aunt when this was discussed said that her son and my brother are so unhappy that this is their way of blowing off steam. My husband says (rather smugly that this is my family dynamic they ridicule each other. He won't discuss his family dynamic). Typical of an female in an abusive situation I keep thinking it is my fault. and if I change he won't make fun of me or disparage me. I know I am a pain in the neck and a know-it-all.
When I moved to Maryland and away from Christmas and them I am truly enjoying my holiday with my children and grandchildren.
When I see my brother or we speak he is rude, will yell at me. He has had all kinds of health conditions - back, hip replacement, had to be redone, knee replacement, had problems, heart attack, two stents is on all kinds of meds, and again I make excuses for him because if these conditions. The ironic thing is he is very loyal and wouldn't think of not staying in touch or visiting us. When we get on the phone with him I put my husband on because he won't yell at him or look for ways to be nasty. I am so sad. He used to be the best brother in the world.I want to cry at the loss.

Now to get outside of myself:

Sammi -
Are they offering you any other medical options rather them watching him decline? With all the advances in heart care my hope is there is something that will help him.

Bonnie,
Thanks, seeing the pie chart was so routine that I forgot that that's a good way to track my fiber

Maci -
How's the back? Are you on your feet? As someone who had back surgery I had to find alternative exercises as well and found lap swimming. My husband was a great athlete - racquet ball, squash - he could hit shots behind his back! Then he aged and had to find alternatives, but more to the point he is better at gauging his ability and skills, plays volleyball now and is happy. I am sure you will find something, but there is nothing like the first love - in your case tennis.

Michelle -
You are having an awful time with that eye, I hope it starts behaving for you and you will soon be over the problems. Regarding the fiber it is reaaaalllly good for you and flax seed is supposed to add to your fiber. I read that in the US what with picking things early, shipping and antibiotics in everything we are not getting the nutrition we should just eating our basic healthy diet. I do a lot of farm stand while stuff is in season and it local tastes good.

Lynn - I hear the pain in your posts. You are fantastic to be going so strong in your grief.

Lois & Ginger - nothing like dental work for an eating plan!

I wish you all a good Day, talk to you tomorrow.

Marija

Good Morning everyone,

This is the second night of not sleeping with my rash and I am in agony. Hoping to hear the lab reports today and maybe I can find out what is causing it. I go to bed and collapse for an hour or two and then wake up itching. Then toss and turn. I even sprayed full strength white vinegar on it during the night but all that did was burn. I have tried creams and ice packs but nothing is working. Yesterday I was up at 3, made it to 5 this morning. I've lost a half pound because I don't feel hungry but I try to eat healthy and drinking lots of water to flush my body of toxins. I think the medicine is poison to my body.

I am not a complainer but this has to end before I go completely out of my mind. I took the other pill yesterday and am wondering if the medication is causing the rash. It is swollen and warm to the touch.

My insurance is only for liability and doesn't cover glass but it only cost me about $250 last year to have my windshield replaced because it was chipped and leaking around the edges and no covered parking since moving here. I got the Fair Special price. They will go to the car for people who work. They are just down the road a couple miles so I just took the car there and walked around town while I waited. I drive a Jeep Cherokee Sport and they are known for leaking windshilds. We bought it new in '93 and it has 197,500 miles on it. I keep it in good working condition as there is no way I can replace it. I love my Jeep. Selling my crocheted items has paid for car repairs.

I haven't done a lot of crocheting this summer but I sold a lot here for Mother's Day. I have a good stash ready to go. We are having a bazaar next October so I will get busy making more cotton dish cloths. Everyone likes them and they are fast and easy to make. It also keeps me from mindlessly snacking because I have to keep my fingers clean. I have to plan to eat.

Sammi, still sending prayers to you and your husband. This is so very sad. My heart goes out to both of you. Stay strong.

Lois, I hope your mouth issues are fixed now. Keep knitting!

Nina, I have never painted much of anything. My first husband was painting our house inside and I tried to help but he told me I wasn't doing it right so I quit and never tried it again until I opened a little sandwich/soup restaurant and I did a fine job on my own painting the kitchen.

Mumsey, I hope your son is doing better by now. It is good that you can take care of him.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Sparklers --- thank you so much for all your good wishes and prayers -- I feel blessed to be in the company of such caring people.

Ginger, good wishes for a positive experience and a good outcome.

Michele, hope today finds you on the mend and joyful.

We are planning to go to the gym this morning -- need to exercise the stress away and get rid of that last half pound.

The plants on my front porch are drawing hummingbirds -- love watching them.

Enjoy the journey and have a wonderful week, Blessings, Sammi emoticon

Hello everyone!

I've been busy painting, painting and more painting! You would think I'd be done by now, but I guess I'm pretty slow when it comes to cutting out along the edges. It's looking really nice and I;m happy with the colors, so I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

I did take time out to watch the Olympics opening ceremony and some competition. My daughter and I really enjoy watching them, so it's something we do together as much as we can. Does cheering count as exercise?!? ;-) One of the swimmers is from my small town and he's won at least one gold (don't know about today) so far. Woohoo!

I'm slowly reading through the posts to catch up.

BONNIE
Thank you so much for your feedback! I actually saw it a couple of days ago and checked out the nutrition. It looks like I'm mostly staying within the guidelines on the pie chart. I was above and below by 1or 2 percentage points on some days, though. I'm hanging in there though 'cause I feel so much better. Hope you find a new tenant soon!!! I'm glad that you will be able to do something to keep stress at bay.

LINDA
I live in north central Florida. My sister lives in the Tampa Bay area.

MICHELE
I'm sorry you're having so many issues with your eye. Hope the new stitches help it to heal.

MACI
So sorry to hear about how you've were hurting so much! It is weird how one can have pain in a certain area, but the problem is somewhere else altogether. (I think it 's called referred pain.) I'm so glad it's something that will pass and I hope that you're feeling much better very soon!

SAMMI
Am so sorry to hear about your husband's heart condition. By any chance is he a candidate for a heart transplant. I pray that you will both be able to have a peace about the situation. Please continue to let me know how you and your husband are doing.

LYNN
I think most insurance policies cover cracked windshields. And there are mobile businesses that will actually come to you to fix it. My daughter actually had someone take care of it in her parking lot at work and it didn't take long. You could get a referral from the insurance company. Just some ideas... :-)

LOIS
Is your mouth feeling better yet?

SUZANNE
What test did you take? Hope you did really well!

FIONA
I can't believe how difficult tonsillitis has been for your son. Has there been any discussion about removing them? I hope he's better soon!

May God bless all of you and your families.

I don't knit, but I do like to crochet. Haven't in a while, need to get myself started on a project. Been pretty busy this summer, maybe when it gets cooler. Once I get going, I do enjoy it.

Have a great Monday all!

You made me smile, Lois. Knitting as exercise. A friend of mine remarked "It's not fair. No matter how fast I knit, I just can't lose any weight".
Knitting and crocheting help me, though. i find that when i watch TV, there has to be something in my hands or there is something in my mouth.

Sammi, stay strong and know that many are praying for you and your husband.

Taking a break from watching the Olympics. My favorites are the swimming, diving, and gymnastics, but find I am getting hooked on some of the other venues. Not getting too much exercise in, but lots of knitting.

fiona, Suzanne & Bonnie, I kept you all in my morning Rosary as I did my walk this a.m.

Went to the dr. Sat afternoon. He had to restitch my left eye b/c the contact lens he had me wear scratched oopen the wound instead of helping it. I could feel the needle go in the eyeball this tiome as he gave me the anestyhesia. It was a little uncomfortqalbe. Now my left eye is completely patcyhed (unlike before where I had a clear plastic cover over the eye after surgery) It is definitely hard to walk around.

today, Sunday, I have to go into his office, even tho. he is not open for patients to check on my eye.

Sammi & Brenda, I just can't imagine what you are going through. My heart goes out to you both! I will continue to pray for the both of you, as I can not do anything else. Please keep me infomed! I care.

Maci, so glad you are having a better day. I agree with Brenda---eat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream---definitley less fat & calories, & you won't blow all the hard work you have done. Take it easy girl!

Sammi, my heart goes out to you. I lost my husband 40 years ago to a heart attack. They didn't have all the bells and whistles that they have now. Hope that they can find something to help him.

Olympics - loved the opening ceremony and will be turning in a lot the next days. Amazing the dedication. One and one/half days till I get the partial - the up side I have lost a 1/5 pounds so far. But, I don't recommend this on a daily basis.

Peace and healing to all.

Ladies, thank you for your kind words.

Mary, unfortunately, my DH had a massive heart attack last June -- then bypass surgery --- his heart is only at 15 to 20% capacity and he has a defibulator implant. This helps his shortness of breath, but his heart is getting weaker --- they are going to try a few more meds, but his heart will continue to get weaker. I am inside out about it and trying to stay strong for him.

Blessings, Sammi

I totally agree with you girls. We have to ask questions and make sure we get our point across. If I have a Dr who does not listen to me, and answer my questions, I get a new doctor.

We are having a nice day today. It is only 80 degrees. Some sun and some shade. Very nice out.

My friend was having a garage sale, and I went and sat with her for a couple of hours. I am very tired. Only about 3 hours sleep last night, so now I am home and just going to relax until bedtime.

SHARON

How wonderful that your daughter is happy to have you, and make a place for you to have your own space. What a blessing. And to see your grandson daily. YEA!

MARY

Glad you are having some nice weather too.

We did get some rain, but not really enough. The farmers in our area are really hurting. So the food prices will be high and the rest of us will be hurting!

It will work out somehow.

The medical profession has really changed and we need to be our own advocates. I also believe in asking a lot of questions and reviewing the internet. My husband and I see his specialists together. Keeping husbands healthy or at least managing their health issues is a full time job.

Good morning all. I sure am glad I live in the Bay Area. I don't think we've had a day over 80 yet this year. Mostly 70's. I do not tolerate extremes very well, so this is so much better than Michigan or Chicago. There have been days where I didn't want to get out, but no days that I couldn't. (Read "no ice and snow"!!).
My heart is with all of you who are having issues. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter. She asked me to move out here with them, and they bought a house with a "mother-in-law apartment" for me. I get to see my grandson every day!! emoticon

Good morning everyone.
It's a rainy Saturday. Rain three times in a week. We are so lucky the heat wave has finally broken. All those near 100 degree days and in upstate NY too! Unheard of! Usually we complain about 80ish days.
I may have to go to the gym today as being in the house makes me sedentary and all the weight settles to my rear.

Sammi, I know your news was upsetting, but i have a phrase i use lots. "better living through chemistry". There is a pill for just about anything that ails you. I suspect your DH is taking some form of digoxin. That makes his heart beat harder. With a little adjustment in his routine, he may have as many as 20 years left in him. It's just a matter of adjusting to the low energy days.

Same for you, Maci. Good thing you had your daughter around to tell them to prescribe the right things. We mostly have to be our own advocates. Remember the days when people treated doctors like gods? 50% of doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class. And do you know what they call the person who graduated last in the class? Doctor!
I think my doctors consider me a difficult patient because i want to know what and why and how. And give my humble opinion. But I get what I need.

Happy weekend everyone. Hope you get to do something fun with someone nice.

SAMMI, Maci, and Brenda

I sending many prayers and blessings for the trouble each of you is having. God Bless and give you strength and peace.

Well, my Terry and Gloria took the dogs and left about an hour ago. It was a great summer, and I loved it all.

Right now, it is nice to hear my house so quiet.

My brother is a banker, so we talked this morning about my financial situation after they are no longer sending me money. I am going to send him all of my financial info, and he is going to figure out a small personal loan from his bank that will give me low payments. That way, I can just live by myself unless someone comes along who needs my house, and I think I can need them. It will take the pressure off me so I don't two make any effort to find a new roommate.

This stuff always works out one way or the other. Just another reminder to live one day at a time, and to let go and let God.

Have a great weekend my friends.

Boy, what a night. I woke up just as the opening creremonies opened the Olympics at 2 AM our time so watched it for a while, read my book and was able to go back to sleep until 5. I leave my bedroom TV on low all night so I don't hear Nelson next door coughing, snoring and moaning all night. We joke about sleeping together every night. LoL

Sam, who lives downstairs called me and said she and her daughter are bringing me some shelves and did I want to come downstairs and get them? Told her I couldn't come down because I can't get dressed so they brought it up. Now to see if Steve will come and put them up for me when he comes to town to pick up my coffee table.

Sam's daughter is moving to North Carolina next Tuesday and we say 'good riddence'. She told Sam that she won't contact her anymore once she's gone. What a witch she is. I met her a few months ago and wanted to slap her for how she was talking to Sam.

All I ate yesterday was a banana, small chunk of chicken breast, half a tomato and a bite of cucumber, then a cup of plain Greek yogurt for dinner. I took the first pill and it made me loopier than I normally am. Drank about a gallon of water and a few cups of coffee with half and half. I take the other pill tomorrow. Both pills were $19 each but I only had to pay $2.20. My inner thighs are red and itchy and hot and it is driving me wild. Hopefully it will go away. I use a can of frozen grape juice wrapped in a towel as a compress and that helps. I put some itch cream on them but it hasn't helped so far.

Bonnie, you are so right. I don't do well having to stay in and be lazy. I didn't get bored, just sparked and played games and watched TV. Hopefully you will find someone to rent your upstairs soon. That's awful that Gloria won't be able to come visit anymore like she want's to. Things will work out, I'm sure.

Sammi, sending good wishes to you. Thanks for your kind words.

MACI, eat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. It is just as good as far as I'm concerned. I know how hard it is for you to stay down but we have to do what we have to do.

Have a good day. I might check back in later on.

Good Morning Sparklers -- love early mornings -- drinking my first cup of coffee and watching the birds outside -- mostly cardinals, a hummingbird, crows, wrens and finches.

Spent yesterday digesting the news from Thursday -- gathering strength for what lies ahead.

Maci, so happy to hear you are on the mend.

Brenda, have been there, hoping today feels better.

My favorite hotel in Vegas is Ceasars Palace. My hubby and I were married in a chapel
in 1988 --- it was so wonderful --- the retired preacher who married us was terrific --- I remember he said the most important thing to remember is keep communicating with each other and you will have a happy marriage.

Blessings Sparklers, Sammi

Hi ladies I have a moment of reprieve, and I decided I am gonna spark! I just got out of the bathtub and my pain is mild now for the first time today. Grrrrr. I had to find replacements for my matches this wk, there is no tennis in my immed future. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers,

Someone said well at least you will lose some sick wt. Prob is that i never lose while sick because when I eat it's the only time I feel ok. My mom brought over a 1/2 gal of ice crm and I finished it off today, luckily w/so many visitors at my home it was 1/2 gone before i dipped into it.

Am kind of being abit selfish and just looked for things written to me, I know my reprieve from pain is only momentary. Trying to get the basics done. Hope this post finds everyone doing good! Its only 4 days away from w/i for the christmas challenge, don't forget to ck in on the thread. Even if you didn't lose, I will know you are still on track w/it. I will be on top of it!

This is about as much energy as I have today, so gonna go sleep again! Happy Sun to you all!

Good to have you back. Hope your test results are good! I am sure they are, but the waiting is such a pain.

Good you had such a nice vacation break with your husband and all went well.

BRENDA

Sorry to know you are having issues, that is tough stuff. Good to know your meds will be done on Tuesday, and you will be back to normal.

Know you are not very good at sitting around, so hope you have a good rest, and don't get too terribly bored!

Terry's plain was delayed, but he arrived only about an hour and 15 minutes later than expected, so that was good.

They have just gone to bed, and will get up in the am and pack the truck up and go home.

Sadly, because of some things that Gloria has recently found out about her new job, they are not going to make time available for her to come back here periodically, so I am now going to have to find someone to rent the upstairs.

She will pay me for August, and probably if I can't find anyone, for Sept, so hopefully I will have a new tenant soon.

If you want to make God laugh, make a plan. It will work out, it always does, just not the way we were planning.

Have a great weekend my friends. God Bless

AMAZONIAN, glad to have you back. Keeping my fingers crossed for good grades on your test. Vegas sounds like a blast. Good that you could take the trip and get the bonus room.

Well, I ended up going to Urgent Care this morning for a female problem. I got some meds to take and now I can't drive because it might make me dizzy. I talked to Romona a little while ago and told her I can't help her today but her caregiver brought some boxes and got them packed. She is still waiting for her daughter to bring boxes as they are moving her out tomorrow. I told Romona I will go to her new apartment and help her unpack. By Tuesday I will be finished with my meds and able to drive. I do not like this at all but this was something I could not heal myself. Actually I let it go on too long because I thought it would go away. Not. The doctor will call me in a couple days to tell me the test results from the lab work. She said everything else looked good otherwise. I was in and out of the clinic in an hour, which surprised me because it is a walk-in clinic. The waiting room was packed when I left. I didn't feel like driving a half hour to my regular doctor, besides I may not have been able to get in today and couldn't let it go over the weekend.

I am going to laze around today as I didn't get much sleep last night from the itching.

I'm hearing about the storm on the East Coast. I hope everyone stays safe.

Hello there!

It seems like it has been forever since my last check-in. From a quick check of the posts, it seems as though a lot has happened during my absence -- I won't even attempt to address all of the events, except that I am so glad to see that it seems all are on the mend.

I took my test 7/21 and will find out the results in about three more weeks. It was 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours. I knew the content to all the questions, but I was very rushed since there were many math related questions (no calculator) and many involving significant reading passages with long winded responses. I think I did alright, but there was no time to check my answers -- hopefully, I did not screw up bubbling in the wrong answers.

After the test, I came home and drove to the airport. I met hubby in Vegas for a much needed break! It was great! We saw Xumanity, Penn & Teller, and Bodies - The Exhibit. We also checked out the casino attractions. The Venetian, Bellagio, Cesear's Palace, and New York/New York were my favs. I lost both dollars that I put in the slots (no, I don't see the point in putting hard-earned money into an almost certain no win scenario), but I had fun for the 2 minutes I played with the $2!

The coolest thing was that since my flight arrived in vegas after midnight, they had run out of rooms -- since mine was already reserved, we were upgraded to a corner spa suite! Ooh La La!!! Very nice indeed! I was not a huge fan of the Luxor (where we stayed), but hey the deal I got could not be beat --- Round trip flight + $18/night for room!

We walked A LOT -- and even though I did not track my food, or exercise, I maintained my weight. Today I am back in the swing of things and will complete my log ins shortly.

Looking forward to the end of the HHH Days here in MD -- It was cooler in Vegas!!!

Good luck with your tooth and your surgery. Hope you feel up to your bike ride, but do consider if you should go that far. Don't want you to get sick and loose your strength.

Good way to put it, "ready to start living this new day". I will have to remember that.

BRENDA

Probably a good thing your friend had no more boxes, you could have worn yourself out!

I knew you would work out a system. Sounds as though it worked very well as a "production line". Enjoy your fruit.

FIONA

Glad to know your son is doing better today. Yesterday I am sure was a difficult one.

Prayers he continues to improve and recover quickly.

Woke up early, went to the bathroom, and read for an hour, then slept another 2 hours. Just lazing around now.

Have taken my thyroid, have waited my 1/2 hour, so will go get some breakfast and coffee in a minute!

Have a blessed and happy day today and a great weekend.

Hello everyone and Good morning,

Had a good sleep and ready to start living this new day. Looks like it rain again and this is the fourth night it has rain. The vegetation is looking better but do not think its going to be enough for the farmers. The temps are cooler, in the 80s today and all week-end. I can do some cooking and spend more time outside. emoticon . Today I am going on a long bike ride maybe 50 miles, I do not know for I am battling a tooth infection. Having surgery on Monday and not looking forward to it. My energy is has been low but I have been on antibiotics for a couple of days, so maybe my energy is better.

MUMSEY5 - Sending prayers to you that your husband has a speedy recovery.

All have a blessed day.

Hi Everyone,

Wow, everyone has had a busy day. I'm exhausted but it was a productive afternoon packing the boxes I took over. I sat knicknacks on Romona's walker and she sat there and wrapped them while I was taking down the pictures and packing them. Then I filled all the nail holes with white toothpast. Worked like a charm!

Romona's family is hopefully bringing more boxes in the morning. I could have done a lot more if I'd had them. They are getting a UHaul and moving her out Saturday. She will call me in the morning to tell me if I need to go back and pack more stuff. There is still the kitchen to do. I found some prescription drugs in her closet that she didn't even know was there that were filled in 2008. Well, I took them to the drug store to turn them in and they said they are not allowed to take old medicine that I need to take them to the courthouse and they have a drop box at the Justice room, wherever that is. That is news to me! Several people told me to take them to the drugstore but I think it is used syringes that they take. We are all confused. Lol

On the way home I stopped at the produce store for apples, canteloupe and red leaf lettuce.

Sammi, I am sad to hear the news about your husband. Sending prayers to you.

Michelle, also sending prayers that your eye gets fixed and heals correctly.

Sending good thoughts to everyone else, my brain is foggy now so I am going to sign off.

Glad to know that your dental work is done. Sending good wishes that the dentures are made well, and fit you correctly. Good Luck.

LYNNE

Boy are you keeping busy! I can totally identify with the taking care of the kids part of your life! There is such joy in it, even though I can get VERY tired.

Very glad to see you active and out among people whom you can work together with to make your and their lives better. God Bless

MICHELLE

Good luck at the dr's tomorrow.
Well, am going to turn the computer off now and watch some tv, while I catch up with the 3 days of newspapers I have not had time to read.

Will be sleeping in in the morning!

Sending prayers for Maci, Sammi and her husband and for everyone else.

Just checking in for an update. Had the dental procedure on Tuesday afternoon, but will not get the partial until Monday morning. Needless to say I am not going out in polite company or any other kind until Monday. Everything went well, only have discomfort where the novocain was injected and the area where she had to dig out a root. I had originally thought I would be getting the partial the next day on Wednesday, but that changed. Soup, Soft Food and No Photos Please!!!

Hi All,
I am having a busy week! Yesterday I left my house at 6:30 am to go babysit. Then went right to young widows group. We met at a lake nearby that has lots of bars and bands. We just got our food and it started to rain :( We had a good time anyway......with unbrellas. I didn't get home until 10pm. Long day to be gone. Today babysat from 6:45 - 5pm. Tomorrow I lead the young widow group from 10:30 - noon at the Y and then I need to get some stuff done. I am leaving at 7am on Sat morning to go to the widow's retreat.......I get home about 6pm Sunday. It is my first overnight one and it is at a retreat center in the woods. Tomorrow I will need to do laundry etc before I go. I have been doing pretty good on the eating. I have been doing the exercises (and I am sore)......but still need to add more cardio. Yesterday my windshield cracked.......it was about 12 inches long. Today it is 16 inches long. I don't think I have glass coverage :( I don't even have time to get it fixed. I hope it holds until next week. I get to sleep in on Tues........yay! I think about you all the time. Have a great weekend, Lynn
