Well early church and 10.00am service plus walk around the town door knocking.
Apart from that no real exercise but my knee is still sore. Seems to flair up after a long walk like last week.

We had a lovely family meal last night and playing cards with the cherubs, love this family time.

Now just blobbing out a bit before I think of something for tea.

Thanks for double spacing everything. It was very easy to read. Have been missing you, and glad to hear from you.

I can read the posts ok if the paragraphs are short. It is the long ones that I have so much trouble with.

I have my 40" tv as my computer screen, and still have some issues. My eyes are not good, but I have always been very glad that I could see at all! I have muscle problems in my eyes, and they don't always focus together, even with the prisms in them.

Do really well, actually because of the glasses, but when I am tired, my eye will wander. What fun!

I want to take the time to read your blogs, but my time has been so limited. God Bless and help you with your Dad being there.

MACI

Good luck the brokers for your daughter. I can't say anything, I have always had to learn everything the hard way myself. Hope it works out well for all of you.

Love the movie. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Bill Nighy and Dame Maggie Smith were also in it. Too tired to think of the others. Great cast, sweet little movie. I found it charming.

I sure wish these idiots would run out of fireworks. I am so tired of hearing them go off. Don't know how they can afford that stuff. Just a waste of money as I see it, but I guess they wouldn't care for my glass and pottery collections.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friends.

HI Ladies, Uggg I am so full of stress right now, it's tough to type. grrrr my youngest DD Emily is buying a home from us, escrow closes Mon, she was told last night if everything isn't signed and in by today than she will owe more monies and penelity fees for closing late. They finished the papers today! NOw way to get it done on time, and the closing statement is alot more fees, moneys than the origional. The broker is to busy "IN MEXICO" to help answer her Q's! Sounds like a big mess to me, but hey we tried to get her to use our secure banks, escrow people etc, she was intent on using this guy that promised her to do it all for "Free" Oh well what can you do when your kids won't listen. We even told her to move in for awhile and make sure she likes it the payments are less than hers will be, nope! grrrr. NO worries it will all work out , i got her an appt with another broker that is highly recommened and is local to look over her paperwork. Well known by my bro and friends.
Thank god he was willing to meet w/her, to ok the paperwork or not.

This morning was awesome! we all walked to the 4th of july parade together, the ocean was sparkly and beautiful on the way, we all got decked up in R/W/B and cheered for everyone. It was so much fun. This afternoon going to try and relax and not eat like crazy! saw a few movies yesterday for our movie marathon: Brave! (good, prob the best!), Magic Mike (naughty but good story), & Rock of Ages ( good story too, musical) rock and roll movie, none were Academy award winners but fun to watch. It was nice to spend the day at the movies w/hubs. Got home late. Tonight planning on watching a netflix movie! HOpe everyone is doing good and has fun plans for the 4th.

*Bonnie- I don't dare try the grams and frosting combo, sounds OMG good! Your parents are such go getters! My mom's active and fun too! She did the parade w/us this morn,. I love sweets too! yummy. Loved picturing your bro w/the kids. Please let someone else hold the leashes, you don't need any of the dogs pulling on you. heal up safely.
*Brenda- You grew up like my hubs. In Oregon they didn't even have running water. they had to hike the hill to the well. We had a power outage once, for 1/2 a day and it changed peoples lives, we all have back ups now, the prob isn't the outage, it's not knowing when it's going to end. Fear can set in!
*Fiona- I would rather walk bunddled up in the chill, than roasting in the heat. Good for you for keeping going.
*Dalia- (mary) I loved that story too! It wasn't written from me, it was a blog i found, but I loved what her hubs said. When I read it to mine, he did say that's how i feel!
*Mich- Ask your DR about the fan blowing "on" your eyes while recovering. It may irritate them. Good luck on your surgery, we will all be wishing you well and fast healing on the 4th.

Brenda, it sounds like you do some of the same things we do here in Japan rather than turn on the a.c. People over here tend to "endure" or put up with difficult circumstances. I love the a.c. but will probably not be using it much due to an electricity shortage here this summe.

Bonnie I also thinkyou are lucky to have such healthy parents! My dad will be 82 in July & suffers from dementia. He was never very social, always working, working, working. He sleeps a lot now. Mom will be 80 in Aug. & gets around on a cane. Her mind is sharp. It is just her body that has betrayed her.

And no, 7-4 is not a holiday here--that is s trictly an American holiday. However, my family'S values & daily activities are mostly "American-like" so we will celebrate in our own way with a bbq probably at home the following weekend.

Happy 4th everyone!

You are so right, I am very blessed that I have my parents, AND that they are in relatively good health and able to do what they want. They keep very active. My mom played golf this morning, and plays at least 2 to 3 times a week when the weather is good. My dad works at a local bowling alley for a few hours 5 days a week. He gets to bowl free whenever he wants. He also bowls in 2 leagues a week during that season. He bowled his first 300 game 2 years ago in April when he was 84! Mom does water aerobics at the Y 3 days a week, and dad walks a mile every day. Mom is 84, and Dad is 86. They have been married for 64 years.

My goal is to be them when I grow up!

Gloria and I took Terry to the airport this morning. We stopped after and had breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

We are going to the movie at 6:00pm to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, with Dame Judi. Looking forward to that.

MIchele

Prayers and good thoughts coming your way. I laughed when you said you were having your surgery on the 4th. I'm thinking, on the Holiday? Caught myself and decided it was probably NOT a holiday in Japan. Feels like you all are right next door!

For all of you in the States, have a great 4th. For the rest of you, just have a great everything!

God Bless.

Good Morning Michelle,

I just heard on the news there is a huge power outage along the East Coast since last night from a storm and it may be a few days before the power is back on. Those poor people won't have any relief from the extreme heat. Even the White House was dark. It's raining again this morning.

We have built in air conditioners in our apartments plus one at each end of the halls and in the common rooms. I never turn on mine. If it is too hot, I just leave my door open and get the air from the hall. We had really high temp's a couple years ago so I made a bunch of ice and put it in a tub in front of a fan and that helped cool my apartment. That was at my old place and we had no air conditioning except in the common rooms.

Sending prayers to you for your eye surgery on the 4th.

To everyone else, have a great weekend and holiday.

Bonnie, so glad you are feeling a little better. It is so much fun to spend time with family, isn't it?!

Maci, I too, loved your post! Good for you that you finally are in love with yourself! I am slowly learning to love myself as well. I have always been my worst critic!

Fiona, I hope your weather warms up a bit.

I had to go out to buy a new fan today, as the one we bought last year broke. We won'T be using the a.c. too much this year, as Japan is trying to conserve electric costs. I start my pre-surgery eye meds. tomorrow for my up-coming surgery on the 4th.

have a good weekend, everyone ! happy 4th of July!!!!

Bonnie, I do like a few sweets but I don't eat them, I always want them but I have a lot of will power. I can get enough sweetness from eating an apple or low sugar preserves.

I'm glad you are doing well and following the guidelines so you don't overdo and hurt yourself.

Good that Terry got to visit for a few days. You are lucky to have your mom and dad. My mom died in 1958 at age 37 when I was sixteen and I only met my dad a couple times.

Have a nice walk with Deter, you sound like a perfect pair. Have a great weekend. I plan to stay home.

I also remember, now that you mention it, about not eating out of the cans. I have not had canned frosting for years, but I think it comes in cardboard or something like that. Maybe that is why it did not bother me! We did have a frig and a tv, but the tv screen was about 9 inches!

I really do envy you that you don't like sweets. I really do love them. I like all food, not much I don't like, but I do have to watch the sweets.

MACI

I was so moved by your post, that I forget to mention that I too feel that this journey can only be successful in the long run when we do learn to love and appreciate ourselves. So glad you like looking in the mirror.

FIONA

Glad you were able to get out to walk.

Did not sleep but about 2 hours last night, but I did not feel bad today. Guess because we had a nice day in the pool. My brother got in and played with the kids, and they had such a great time. He doesn't get home often, but he always leaves an impression on the kids.

Mom and Dad came as well. Dad came in the house in the air after awhile as he can't get into the pool. After the kids all left, they stayed and visited with Terry and me.

Went to Dr Mike for an adjustment. He was pleased that back is loosening up. Told him I thought it was helping to be in the pool and he said yes, but, don't get Crazy on me. He knows that I can do too much and hurt myself again. I am not doing that this time. Can't swim yet, just walk and play in the water a bit. Told me I can begin to walk some, so that is good. Gloria and I are going to take the dogs to the park, in a day or two, and I get to walk Deter, they say he has a "blown" tire, as his back feet don't work so well. He is a bit over 14 years old, so he does pretty good. She will take Fritz and they can move it. There are lots of benches close to each other, so Deter and I will do ok.

Gloria and I are taking Terry to the airport in the morning so he can go back to Galveston. We had a great visit, but he is ready to go home.

Kind of quiet here, so I guess we are all having a busy weekend.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my friends.!

When I was growing up we were told not to eat out of cans because it wasn't good for us. Also not to leave leave unused food in the can and store in the refrigerator. I think in those days the cans were lead lined or whatever it was. I learned to cook from scratch, not out of a box. Wheaties came in a box. When the TV dinners came out they were quite a novelty and weren't that good. We didn't get a TV until I was 11. We didn't have a refrigerator, we had an ice box. The ice house was down the street from our house and I would take the wagon to get a block of ice.

Forgot to mention that I too have eaten frosting from the can, BAD sweet tooth. However, I found it is much better on Graham crackers! Sorry, bad to say. Don't do it anymore, but...

I read this blog today and decided I wanted to share it with you all:

For the past 6 months I have forced myself to wake up and take ten minutes to stretch and flex.

I live in a 70s style house which the redneck I married thinks is in fashion so there is no taking into doing any renos. Why is that important well in our bedroom we have two huge floor to ceiling mirrored closet doors! I have always hated these doors. For years they would reflect a sad. old looking fat woman!!

Personally I have always had trouble looking at myself in the mirror or in pictures because I have always thought I was ugly!! Well I decided I had to change how horribly I had been treating myself.

So every morning I spent ten minutes stretching out on my bed watching myself in the mirror. At first I could not look in the mirror. I also had a hard time touching my toes. But day by day things got easier.

This morning as I was stretching I noticed I didn't have any sore spots, or aches or limits to how much I could reach. So I was standing in front of the mirror smiling at my reflection when my hubby (who I had not noticed was awake) said "I am so glad you are in love with yourself". I started to blush and then he said "it's about time because I've been in love with you for years" of course then my waterworks started.

Of course the fact that my red neck said something sweet made we cry but the overwhelming fact or A-HA moment was it was true I do love myself. I love the way my body looks. I love how I feel and I love that I can even appreciate any of this.

I love myself enough to work out, eat properly, and take better care of myself!!

I think that simple fact of cutting myself some slack and finally loving who I am is by far the hardest part of this journey but also the most important.

Thanks for listening.

Glad you know what to do about the tick. Hopefully, you will get better fast because of getting on the antibiotics as soon as you did. Feel better.

MACI

Yea! Glad to here your good news.

SANDI

I am over the moon to hear your good news. I know you have gone through quite an ordeal, good to hear you are so much better.

Glad to know your Teddy Bear is doing better.

MICHELLE

Prayers for good results from your surgeries.

LYNNE

LOL

Good to hear from you. You are in my prayers always.

Glad you are taking no chances with the skin stuff. My mom has had quite a few removed from her face. She grew up on Lake Erie and they all just lived in the water and the sun. I am trying to be vigilant myself.

So good to know that you are enjoying your Grands so much, and making friends with people who know your pain. Good luck figuring what to do with retirement.

My eyes can't read anymore, and my mind is forgetting what I wanted to say!

Those of you I have missed, Hope all is well.

Prayers for those of you suffering from rain and flooding, and those living in fear of the fires.

Weather is pretty tough to take.

I would like to ask that those of you who type paragraphs without spaces between to perhaps, double space between at least some of your typing. I am having a lot of trouble reading the paragraphs that are 1 and 2 inches long. My eyes don't work that well, and it is a real strain for me.

If you could try to double space more, I would be greatly appreciative. I sometimes just have to stop reading.

Max spent the night with me last night, and it was a great time. Have now had 3 of the 4 greats over night, will see if Brielle can stay the night, might just have to take her out to dinner.

High of 102 degrees today. Had to wait until the sun went down to get into the pool.

Might have showers tonight, we'll see.

Enjoying my brother and sister in law being here. Terry will go back to Galveston on Sat, then it will just be Gloria and me until July 27 when she goes back. Have been very nice.

Nieces, kids, and mom are coming over to swim tomorrow.

Am a bit taken aback this evening. Found out that a young friend of mine, haven't seen him in quite a while, had been ill with cancer and died.

Even though I have not seen him in so long, he was young, and I never thought I would not see him ever again. I am very, very sad tonight.

God bless you all my friends.

*Brenda, eating from the frosting container is very common I am told. It's preety darn yummy, but not a good habit to start, I bet yours is much better yum! Hope they had what you were looking for at Walmart, if not I am sure you found some other things to buy! Love walmart!
*Dalia- I couldn't have had any of those names, I have never been well behaved enough to be called anything like that! teehee. I can't remember how I erased the diet made for you, but I did that right when I started posting. I always put in my own foods. IF you click the favs everytime you post something you will build up a good list. Most my foods come from my fav list. Another thing I learned is that you can put in a place. Today I put in souplantation(ate there w/fam) and all their foods came up and I was able to post all my lunch that way. Just play w/it awhile and it will come to you. It's very helpful once you get the hang of it.

Hubs is almost here today, and I know I wont want to spark when I see him, so I am closing out my posting now. I have only about 300 cals left for dinner, I think we are going to walk to del taco and get 2 tacos,. 130 cals each and be done for the night. Ate lots of healthy stuff already. On track, loving life and had a great day w/my gdaughter shopping the mall. Had lunch w/mom & DD, mom was abit upset she just got news she had diabetes. She is prob the healthiest person I know. She eats well, takes care of herself, and lives an easy life, inc yoga/swimming etc. If she is in trouble w/health there isn't much hope for the rest of us. I guess we just gotta do whats in frount of us. The reason she found out is that her eyes were going blurry and they were having a hard time getting her a good glasses perscription. She is terrified of her eyesight going bad. She is only 67. She expected to hear perfect health!

I enter every bite into the nutrition trackers and it isn't that hard-because I figured it out. If I can do it, you can too, Dahliagrower! LoL

I went to Walmart this afternoon and bought a digital food scale that measures, grams, kg's and pounds and will weigh up to 10 pounds. It also weighs the container that you put the food in, push the button and the scale goes back to 0 and then weighs the food. How fun! Another obsession for me to play with. I'm retiring my old number scale.

Sandi, I'm glad to hear your good news about you neck swelling and your litte Teddy Bear.

Lynn, it's good hearing from you and that you are keeping so busy. Try not to overbook yourself and save time for you. Loved your joke.

I think I have eaten frosting from the can. I remember frosting cupcakes one time, and then had leftover frosting, which I refrigerated. Well, you'll never believe this, but that frosting called me. I would open the can, dip in a fingerful like peanutbutter and then eat it. I'm so ashamed of myself now, but in my thinner days of running after children, it didn't seem to stick to my hips like things do now.
For the last 4 days, I have started to journal my foods again. i just can't figure out how to put my meals in the foods tracker, but i keep adding things to breakfast or lunch or dinner, and somehow they show up under whatever foods they seem to have chosen for me to eat for the day. Does anyone really eat what it on that page? Or do you all add your own foods. I'm not good with the exercise pages either. My exercises don't exactly show up there. SO i had to make my own favorites page with as close as i could come.
Went on a senior van trip (I love those. I am the junior senior) and as we were climbing the stairs in this historic house of Gideon Granger, who was postmaster general under presidents jefferson and madison. He was a lawyer who moved to Canandaigua ny in a 13,000 square foot house. His wife's name was Mindwell. When we commented on that, we were told that in 1700, it was very common to name your daughter mindwell, obedience, silence. I guess mindwell wasn't so bad after all. I never could have lived with silence.
Anyway, as we were climbing the stairs, someone behind me said I was getting downright thin. Oh, i love those blind old people.

MACI, For the life of me I cannot fathom the thought of eating frosting out of a can. Nasty! I am so glad I don't crave the sweets. If I ever do make a cake I will make the frosting from scratch. Buttercream is the best! as far as I am concerned.

I hope you all have a great day. I am almost out the door on my way to Walmart looking for a digital food scale. I have an ancient scale with the numbers and it is just too hard to figure out the exact weight. I am doing well, lost a couple inches around and feelin' good.

Hi girls, I just wanted to remind you that JEMS is on this team below on the "motivation and encouragement" area. Bugzy and I do it everyday, Wendy dancer just joined us last night, we would love for you to join us too. I swear it works! Could one of our leaders please put it as a sticky subject??? So it's easy to find for all. I was given this format the first time I ever lost my wt a few yrs ago. When I do it, I keep on track, as soon as I quit I start gaining again. I have lost almost 30 pds each time I have done it, than poof gained it back when I thought I didn't need it anymore. Kind of like my sparks. It's fast and easy, but keeps you accountable.

*Lynn- you are amazing, how you have taken the reins on your life. Good for you. I know you are helping lots of other ladies like yourself too. I remember you going through all your sad and hard changes. Keep up the good work you are an inspiration for all of us!
*Mich- So happy it's workin and your workin it! Keep up the journaling and join us for your quick Jems below!
* Shanti- Wow- sounds like your hot! (and it's hot outside too!) teehee. OMG I would melt! Enjoy the AC whereeever you can find it!
*Linda- ck out the Jems below and join us!

To all my other sparksista's out there, Big hellos, have a great thurs! Off for gma day w/Addie, we are gonna get all her gift cards she got at christmas and go mall shopping today. woohoo! Meeting mom for lunch at souplantation, I am really gonna have to be careful there! Looks like it's gonna be soup / salad for dinner tonight! 1 plate is my goal! Today feeling good in my clothes, good in my thoughts, and proud that the frosting didn't become apart of my body today! No, I cannot have it in the house, it seems either can others! I am not alone! I put it in the garage. If that doesnt work I will just have to rebuy it or bring something else to the 4th! cupcakes are a staple at any of our fam get togethers. I love bringing them, making them, and eating them!!!

Lynn Thanks for the joke, I love it! Hey when are you going to have time to read the retirement books? You are doing more than a lot of people who have full time jobs. It sounds like you are really enjoying your grandkids and all the groups that you are involved with. Im happy for you.

You are not being paranoid about skin cancer, everyone needs to be check out once a year. Remember an ounce of protection is better than a pound of cure. Best wishes for you.

Michele- Best wishes for you as well. If you start to worry just think of Lynns joke, Im still laughing at it.

Sandi- Hope both you and Teddy are doing well. I know you are so ready to get the word that your neck is all healed, it has been a long road for you.

Suzanne- I agree, cant we figure out a way to take the rain and flood waters from Debbie and dump on to the Colorado fires. I hope your sons are safe and doing alright.

According to the weather report is may get up to 100 tomorrow. I think I will take the dogs for another walk before I go off to bed, and then go again early in the am before it gets too hot.

Sweet dreams to all.
Shanti

Maci you are so strong that you can have that "poisonous" stuff around in the house---not me! I'll be the street-thrower again! And thank you for the JEMS again. I have been faithfully journalling & it is actually working!

Lynn love the joke!!! Made me feel better, b/c I'm just about to leave for Dr Koyama's office (eye dr.) to have my eyelashes cut off for up up-coming surgery.

Have a good weekend, all!

Woah! I posted a few hrs ago, and it's not here! what happened? anyways all is good, I had a bought of frosting maddness tonight, but I was able to move it out of mind. It was all I could do not to rip open the container and spoon feed myself into cal hell! I bought a cake and frosting combo to make for the 4th, and after I brought it in the house all i could think of was eating the darn frosting, anyone relate. Cals are done for the day, I am at max. What I remember about the msgs was the teddybear had surgery. Poor teddy. My teddybear is all snuggled on the couch right now, and poor mich has to have her eyelashes cut off. Mich- no worries girl, they will grow back in again quickly. Just think of how quick the hair grows on your legs! By sept you will be all back together, better than ever. If you stick to your "plan" you could be thinner and feel better too! I would definatly rethink that idea. You know how to be at least 10 less by then.

Tennis was fun this morning, played w/a bunch of older ladies today. lunch was nice too. went walmart shopping afterwards. now home, rented the Artist from the redbox. the musics playing just waiting for me to press play. Life is good! sometimes we just have to hide the treats so we can think sanely!

JEMS- Journal, exercise, meals & success's (here is my jems today!)

J- tennis, lunch w/Kathy, walmart, home to watch the artist!
E- 2 hrs tennis.
M- w/i cals. just under 1500.
S- did dailys! plus moved the frosting & cake mix out of sight! chose good choice at lunch, shared for 1/2 cals.

My dailys: vits, sparks, jems, ex, and only F&V;s after 8pm.

Hi All,

I went to the dermatologist last week (it took me 6 weeks to get in). I told her I am trying not to be paranoid but my dh did die from skin caner and I have a couple of spots on my nose that I want checked out. They were pre-cancerous (what the heck is that?). They put some stuff out of a gun to freeze them and said I should come back for a full body check. The spots are red but they will turn black and fall off. lol I am wearing tons of coverup like I was in high school. lol

I have been busy with some of the women's groups and widow groups too. I took the grandkids to the movies on Wed and mini golfing on Thur last week. Today we went to the movies, the library and DQ. Tomorrow it's the zoo. I am haivng a lot of fun with them. No babysitting next week....holiday (july 4th). The summer is flying by.

We had a blast. I led my first widow/widower group at the YMCA today. It went good. I need to bring more Kleenex. I should have known that!!

Linda can drive!! So, I am retiring from my PT shuttling 4 times a week.

I got some books at the library on retirement. Not the finance part...just what to do with all the spare time. I think I can split it between babysitting, church stuff, widow groups, volunteering and girlfriend groups. That is the plan that I am working on anyway.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the summer, Lynn

What's in a name?

The famous Olympic skier Picabo Street (pronounced Pee-Ka-Boo) is not just an athlete. She is now a nurse currently working at an Intensive
Care Unit of a large metropolitan hospital. She is not permitted to answer the hospital telephones any longer. It caused too much confusion when she would answer the phone and say, Picabo, I.C.U.

So glad to hear it!! Well you will go to the dr. on Tuesday, me on Wed, to have the cataract in my rt eye removed. Will have to wear a patch after that. The 2nd surgery will be on the 11th next month.
I am going to the pool this morning (thurs) & it will probably be the last time until Sept since I won't be able to goall of July & the pool is closed to "free" swimming during the summer months b/c there are classes for elderly people only.
Have a good weekend, all!

Teddy had surgery to remove the polyp in his ear. I have him home and so far all is okay.
My neck is doing very well. I din't have to see the surgeon until next Tues. and I don't think it will have to be aspirated. Thanks for your concern, Michelle. It means a lot.

The weather was so perfect today I went to the beach. When I got home I had a message from my groomer - my poor little Teddy bear (who has an ear infection and a polyp in his ear) started bleeding from the ear as she worked on him. She called my vet and made a 5:00 appt for me - so I'll be leaving in a few minutes. The bleeding has stopped - but he still needs to be checked.

Maci - excuse my senior moment - I can't remember what JEMS stands for. Please remind me before I drive myself crazy trying to remember.

hi everyone,
weathers been clearing up finally-almost a week of rain is enough for now.

I got a message from Auntie Darling to share with the team,

"Hi,
I'm so sorry I've been MIA on the team. I've posted a blog to explain why if you could do me a favor and tell the team I miss them and not forget I'm here.
Thank You
Auntie Darling "

hope all's well --rw

Good morning!

I am feeling better thanks to the antibiotics!

Those fires in Colorado are giving me a bit of angst now -- they are getting a bit too close to my boys. My oldest called last night after the waldo canyon fire erupted over a ridge and was now in western colorado springs. I am hopeful that interstate 25 will help slow/stop the fire. There are showers in the forecast -- rain would be good. Now there is a new fire in Boulder, Colorado from a lightening strike. My other son lives south of Boulder. Joy.

Can we just send the rain from Debbie their way?

Good night ladies, I wanted to post to those who I hadn't posted to since my last real post.
*Linda- I can't imagine a gater stopping the fire dept. Be careful driving in all that rain and flooding.
*Fiona- Thanks for cking out the blogs, it's been fun doing them. I am learning alot. Great job walking in such confusing weather, that's dedication. Big woohoo for you!
*Sandi- Lawnmowing sounds like great exercise. Our mower was stolden last night, so i may be joining you. Someone saw a guy walking up the street at 4:30am pushing one, I wish I knew who it was. Glad the lump is gone.
*Shanti- what a fabulous way to start the day while camping w/friends. We could use some rain here too! (after tennis in the morn)
* Mich- didn't hear from you but know you are worried about your upcoming surgery, I hope you are doing good today.

*for those I didn't mention, big hellos to all. LIfe is good today, On day 99 till my trip to Florida and I have been fortunate to be able to stay on track since my countdown. I do have to say though, this time of night I sure get hungry. I am learning to live w/it, I have learned I will not die of starvation between dinner and bkfst! Good night all, sweet dreams!

Hi Everyone!

Had a wonderful long weekend camping, weather was perfect not to hot, no rain. I managed to eat healthy most of the time, however I did indulge in a few treats at the Memorial Service. We were camping with a group, some of us got up early for meditation and yoga on a hill over looking the lake, nice start of the day. emoticon

Suzanne- Sorry to hear that the tick got you, they are bad here, Missy told me that they are bad up where she is as well. Glad you got the antibiotics, hope you are feeling better.

Sammi, Linda, Debbie, & RW- Hope you and your families are O.K. From what I have seen on the news Debby is sure causing some problems, hope you are fairing well. The news showed some of the flooding in FL. It is so sad, and then having to worry about snakes, fire ants and gators is scary!

A few years back a small one came through here, the path was just a block away from my house, it got slightly stronger a few blocks east of us, tore the roof off the school, and then hit some houses and apartments, and from there it went over the park and into open field, without doing too much damage. It was scary to see all the damage, we were fortunate no one was hurt, and mostly trees and roofs were damaged, The odd thing is the school was much in need of a new roof before it was hit, taxpayers were in an uproar over replacing it, or patching it. I guess God and the insurance company gave them the answer.

Stay safe, my thoughts are with you. emoticon emoticon

Michele- I love what you told Bonnie about dogs, the only things is both my dogs can get mouthy. They get their request known! Between JR and the dogs, I dont know who is worse!

My thoughts are with you as well with you upcoming surgery. I know quite a few people who have had this and all said they are happy with the outcome. emoticon

Theres another heat wave coming in still no rain, our grass is brown, the trees are starting to wilt. I was talking with a friend this am about all the rain we had this spring, and how we wished that it would stop for a few days, just another lesson Be careful what you wish for! emoticon

Sweet Dreams to all!
Shanti

Yes Maci it is very good. I have enjoyed reading it.

Sandi good on you for doing the lawns with the push mower, you use so much more muscles doing things like that.

I am going out for my walk. The sun is shinning but it is so windy. I will wear layers and take them off as I warm up

Just wanted to send a msg out to all that chap 3 is done! and posted on 2 blogs, part 1 & part 2. If you haven't heard about the blogs I am writing, they are great! I am reading a book from a girl that I have seen on oprah many times, her name is Stacey Halprin. She lost 350 pds and has kept it off over 10 yrs. She wrote this book with the help of her theripist and from a group of "winners at wt loss" they all have beat the odds and kept off their wt over 5 yrs. She has some great insites into why we gain it back and what we need to do to keep it off. BAsically work from the inside out, while working on the outside in. great stuff! Please read it starting on Chap 1 and see if any of it does you any good. I know it is helping a small group of us get and stay on track. Best way to read is to print all!

The weather was so perfect today that when I got home from taking my mom on all her errands and getting my hair cut I went outside and spent an hour pushing the lawnmower. The front yard looks great and I fell good after all that exercise. Hubby can take out his tractor and finish the back when he gets home. If he doesn't - I just might use the push mower tomorrow and get some more exercise minutes in.

The lump on my neck is finally gone. I have to go back to the surgeon next week to have everything checked out again - but it looks like the surgery was a success and the after effects are finally over, too.

Its rather chilly today but at the moment the sun is shinning.
There is snow down south so the wind is icy.
Off to work. DS is home as he has an ag training day down at the church. This afternoon I will be doing some catchup around here and if it is still fine go for a walk. Haven't been for a long one for about a week and missing it. If not I will do an exercise DVD
Homegroup tonight

Hi All! OMG the scale read today 156.8 twice! that makes it official. When I started posting with you all a few wks back, It was 165. And I was all over the place with my food choices. Since then I have been on track and lovin life again. What I have learned is to not stop sparkin, or else!!!
*Bonnie- Have fun w/bro! No worries the kids can care less if the pools cold or not, they will enjoy it! You can watch them from the window w/your jackets on!
*NJ- Rain would be a nice change right about now! after tennis.
*Sammi- Tornado Watches? OMG Have you ever seen or been in one?
*Ama- I can't believe "you" got a tick. I thought only the dogs got them. I live in the suburbs so we don't see things like that. Hope you feel well soon.

This morning the weather is perfect, played my tennis match (fun) than my tennis doubles parter and I parked at my home and walked to the beach/harbor for lunch. It was really nice. It's 1/2 mi at the end of our street! We are up a small hill so you can see the waves from my frount porch and feel the wind always. It's really nice, Our home is alittle beach cottage in San Diego county. It is the closest to the beach you can live w/o being rich! we love it. Life is good , time to go clean something.

Hey there -- i don't know what locations are troubled by deer ticks, but please be careful. They are awful this year!!

I have pulled off a dog tick, and several deer ticks this summer -- but I missed at least one. Yesterday morning I woke up to a fever and found the telltale bulls eye rash. I am on antibiotics right now and feel tired and achy.

Ok, it's raining again this morning -- yesterday it didn't start to rain til after I ran my errands.
I was most thankful for that. Seems like Tropical Storm Debby is sticking around for the week. Don't mind the rain, but the tornado watches are scary.
Linda, so far so good --- have lots of puddles and tv and internet connections off and on.
Congrats Maci - way to go!
It really is an amazing thoughtful, supportive group.

Hi Ladies and RW! Guess who is the new champion of the "Snowcreek summer solstice doubles tournament in Mammoth?" yes Me!!!! woohoo. what a great wkend, in so many ways. First of all Mammoth was absolutely beautiful. camped on a mtn lake, went to a natural hot springs, had fun w/2 sets of friends, had warm campfires, jacuzzied in a few places including the spa where the tournament was played. Plus got a spa treatment, and had a great fun wkend w/hubs, took lots of walks in the pinetrees too! Only fumble was all our food was eaten by the bears! We were sound asleep in our camper but the tent campers around us got to enjoy being frightened to death of the bears we had in our campsite. Hey at least they get to have some good stories! teehee. I stayed on track the whole 4 days. Did my JEMS plus write gratitude and things I am proud of lists while gone. (5ea) Today is day 100 till I leave for my cruise, and I am bound and determinded to JEMS everyday till then, do some form of moving 30 min a day, and eat around 1500 cals everyday. I am almost there already today, so it looks like it's ice water the rest of the night! I always keep the option open though if I get starving, I can eat fruit and vegis anytime.
Hope all are doing well! Missed you all, will read backwards prob tomm and see what you are all up to. by the way I do jems everyday on this team under the "motivation and encouragement" area. Join me and bugsy if you want! Happy Monday all!

Hi Everyone, I found a public library that would let me use the Internet, so here I am. I miss you guys. We are on our second week in Florida. The first week with my daughter, her husband and 2 grands was pretty grand. We were at Orlando at a timeshare that we own. The weather was overcast but doable for swimming, so I did my 40 min of laps every day - Yah!. The family (without us) went to 1 theme park for 1 day, we paid for grandson, grand daughter was under age. My daughter was talking to me a lot about her husband. They are having real problems. I have trouble hearing it since it sounds a lot like my deja vu with my husband. My heart breaks for her. I told her (and her younger sister also told her) that she needs professional couseling. But I know for a fact if the other party (husbands) don't want to change, things stay the same, but I kept telling her SHE has to change to make changes. I told her I can't be her counselor I am too close. And I see that she "vents" and that releives her for the time being. Same as I used to do. I think I may call my old therapiist to talk about it. I am a terrible sleeper and now wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it.
We are still in Jensen Beach Florida for 5 more days and the wannabe hurricane is causing trouble, we can't go swimming at all, but have walked on the beach and hour yesterday and today. That is the only exercise I am getting.
This is not the worst thing to happen, but it seems like every time we go away, there is terrible weather so I am frustrated. But everyone is getting crummy weather and it really makes a difference to attitudes, don't you think when we have sun?
I may not be online until Sunday, so for now I wish you all well...Marija

Hello!

It did take a bit, but I got through all the posts. I do have to agree about the positive support from this group. You guys are the best!!!

This weekend was good -- we spent the day with hubby's family. Fortunately the weather was a bit cooler and low humidity. I made healthy, side salads, and salsas that I could eat knowing there would be salt and fat laden food to tempt me. I did pretty well, but had a splurge on some 'coffee cake' muffins. Even with that, I stayed pretty close to my goal.

I need to call the dr today -- the ticks are really bad this year (probably due to the mild winter). I have been knocking them off myself every day, and missed one. It was engorged, and did not realize what is until after I took it off the wrong way. Now I have that wonderful bullseye rash and a few other symptoms -- oh well, a course of antibiotics and I should be good to go.

I need to get a hold of the dr's office and study -- getting down to the wire with the test and I still have a bit of material to cover. There is no way I want to take this test again. The first time pass rate is not high, but I am hoping to be one of the few to do so.

Bonnie, it sounds like you had a very busy day! Dogs are as energy-zapping as kids, but not as mouthy! LOL

Fiona, I often do DVDs when it rains outside. I used to push myself & walk/go to the pool in the rain. I guess I'm getting too old to do that anymore.

The sun is out for a few moments. My swim was great this morning, but I think I'm going to tak an afternoon walk.

Hello Smokeyblue. I don't remember you from before---are you new to us? If so, welcome! We have so much support here. Lots to chat about!

quickly read the posts, but very tired tonight.

My brother arrived this morning with their two dachshunds. My friend Nancy was here for breakfast and pool time. Fixed us breakfast, and then he was here, so fixed him something as well.

We visited for awhile and then went out to the pool and he went to take a nap. Had a lovely day. They have just gone up to bed, so I am checking in.

Had fun with the dogs also. They were all over the place checking it out. My poor cat spent most of the day under the bed. She is out now. For being close to a feral cat, she rolls with the punches. She is out with me now.

Wishing you all a great week. Enjoy!

Linda by Sunday was busy as it usually is theses days. I had only one church service to attend so that was a bit of a sleep in for me. We did the walk around town door knocking so I had a bit of walking but no great speed. Then when I finally got home in the late afternoon I had washing to sort and then my DS came over for tea so that was nice.

Brenda I did a google search for the pic and its is similar to a Victorian Sponge just with chocolate on the top, I sure looks yummy though!!

Its got so cold here and the rain is still here so I might have to do a DVD instead, seems a warmer choice!!!

Fiona,

If you do a search for Boston Cream Pie recipes I'm sure you will be able to see a picture of one. I have never actually made one. The shortcut would be to bake two 8 inch round white cakes, split in two, fill with vanilla pudding and drizzle thinned chocolate frosting over the top.

I was watching Clint Eastwood movies this morning. It was a marathon. I have a lot of movie channels so I do a lot of channel surfing. I saw a good Brad Pit movie. too, called The Legend of the Fall. It was really good.

Have a good evening.

Smokeublue you would have lost of lot with walking in the heat.

Had an interesting morning running around after everyone as they slept in and had to take DD to the bus stop as it was pouring. Now there is a bit of blue sky so I am hoping by the end of work at lunch I will be able to fit in a walk between the showers.

Hi everyone!

Fiona, I think the same as you do--finish off the day, don't punish myself, & go on

Brenda, boston cream pie sounds so good, esp for b-fast!

DG speaking for myself, I am honored that you feelyou can tell me anything. None of us are perfect, You have done the best you could do with your kids. there is no such thing as perfection in this inperfect world. If anyone of us were perfect, we'd be upstairs with God ruling the world now, wouldn't we?

Hi RW It is also raining here. Still in our rainy season.

Going to the pool this morning

Fiona,

I found a recipe for the Boston Cream Pie and put it on my blog if you want to check it out. I found it on Ask.com

I ate my Boston Cream Pie for breakfast yesterday morning and it was pretty good for a commercial cake. They used strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries on the top instead of the chocolate. The strawberry sauce is very sweet. Myself, I would have just put sweetened fresh strawberries over a slice of the cake, like a shortcake. I didn't go over my calories for the day either.

Actually it isn't a pie at all, but a cake. Don't ask why they call it a pie because I don't know.

It's raining again this morning but is going to dry up. I guess there was a lot of thunder and lightning with all the rain but not in our area. Just the steady drizzle.

Enjoy the day. I'm watching movies all day.

Brenda
