Thanks, everyone! I'm leaving tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. I'm just so tired...and i haven't done anything yet except make plans! Thanks for the prayers. We need them.

Karen welcome! We have a lot of good chats & support with each other here
Mary, how are you doing? I'M thinking of you today as you say good-bye to your dad.
Hi everyone else. It's pouring rain here & it will be only 40 today. When it's 40 outside that means it's probably 40 inside, too as we have no central heating in our homes over here. I have to bike ride 40 minutes to my piano teacher's house today for my piano & tone chime lesson. IT's going to be a cold one, but I love the exercise.
Happy Thursday everyone!

Karen, it's not eating less, it's eating healthy --- you will start reading labels and find better
and often tastier foods to eat. There is so much good information here and many people in different phases of building a healthier life style. It's all good!!

Hi Everyone! I'm trying to get caught up on everything that is going on. It's hard being new to keep everyone straight. But hopefully I'll be here more often. I'm looking forward to a new beginning with December 1. I know what I have to do - exercise more and eat less. I just have to find the motivation to do both of those things. Trying to get outside every day even in the cold weather is one of my goals for December.

Good Morning Team .....WOW ! it's the last day of November already isn't it?

Later this evening I'll open a new chat thread for the month of December and close this thread.

It's a beautiful day in SW Florida and even a little cooler today .

..................GALS WAGE LOSING BATTLE....................

Mary announced that she was going to start a diet to lose some pounds she had put on recently.

"Great," Sue exclaimed. "I'm ready to start a diet too. We can be dieting buddies and help each other out. And when I feel the urge to drive out and get a burger and fries, I'll call you first."

(Story continues below)

"Wonderful," Mary replied. "I'll go with you."

Oh friends...life is never easy. My daddy passed away last night from complications of Alzheimer's. If he'd lived he would have been 90 on Christmas Day! My mother and 2 of my sisters were with him and they said it was very peaceful, like my husband's. But it's another overwhelming blow to our family in less than a year. Today it's 11 months since my husband passed away. Thanks for the well wishes and please keep my whole family in your prayers!

Good Morning,

It's a foggy morning and it got much colder last night but the sun might come out this afternoon. Today we are having our yearly apartment inspections, making sure things work that are supposed to and that everything is 8 inches away from the baseboard heaters. I never turn them on as I use a small ceramic heater that has a fan

Yesterday was our monthly council meeting here. We have had a problem with the color our halls were painted. It is too dark. The female architect decided what colors, not ever seeing the inside of our building. Well, the first coat was a dark tan, then we complained and now it is a baby poop color. Our manager was out sick when the current color was painted and she was appalled when she saw it. So today the painters will be back to apply a lighter color. We only have windows at the end of the halls so it is dark and dreary. As we get older, we need more light and that woman obviously doesn't know anything about older folks' needs. Now we are afraid to see what color carpet she has picked out for us. It doesn't make any sense that we don't get a vote on the colors since we are the ones who have to live with it.

There is a grand opening at the grocery store today so there should be a lot of good sales. One that has been open for 70 years sold last month to Shop N Kart so now there will be two SNK's within 6 miles of each other. So as soon as I have my inspection, I am going to head over to the sales.

Time for me to get dressed and things straightened up in here so have a good day.

Lynn and Mary in my prayers and on my mind. God Bless you both.

I am doing fine. My incision is almost all healed, just a bit to go. Had a good weekend with my cousin.

Ellee is sick now, so I will be going over in the morning as she will be home from school. Brielle has bronchitis, but actually they both are getting better by today, sick most of the weekend. Will be with Brielle on Weds. Poor kids.

Wishing you all a great week. God Bless you all my friends, new and old. Sorry I have not been able to get to know so many of the new people, but maybe in a month or two I can sit at the computer more often!

Have been reading the chats from my teams, but have been absent from chatting myself. It seems that by the time I do my everyday work on Sparks I have already spent a lot of time on the site.

Mary and Lynn, know that my prayers are with you both as you get on with your journeys. I know that at certain times it is almost more than you thnk you can handle, but handle it you will, as you have already done so.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Even though I wasn't able to go to Madison, WS with my son and daughter-in-law, I had a lovely time with my daughter, her family and very close friends. There was 15 of us plus two 18 months old, a four year old and two dogs. Nothing quiet of boring and great food. Fortunately I was sitting where I couldn't get out which limited me to only one plate full - no seconds. Didn't get on the scale - will do that next week.

It is hard to believe that this is the end of November. Everything is brown and rather drab. By this time of the year, I want beautiful white snow (no ice). My son is coming over tomorrow on his lunch time and help me bring up my Christmas decorations. Every year I think I will just get a smaller tree and downsize my decorating, but then change my mind. It used to be that I could bring everything up from storage on my own. It becomes a chore when I have to ask others to do it for me. Oops, guess that is my independence showing.

Have a good day and take care of yourselves. emoticon emoticon

Good Morning! It's mild out for a moment while we wait for the cold front to arrive --- I'll take this nice, mild morning. Had a few pieces of furniture reupholstered -- the guy did a great job! I'm more then pleased with the result. The cats are hard on some of the furniture, but right now it looks great, especially the love seat. Going to the gym today and then a bit of cleaning. Found a new Kashi cereal I like, not as much as the cinnamon harvest - it's called Heart to Heart warm cinnamon --- think I must be a cinnamon fan! hahaha --
Mary & Lynn -- prayers for strength coming your way -- you are both incredible!

A quick good morning then I head back to work. It's been a full week but a good one. These next 4 weeks will be hard on me, I'm sure. I had some weepy moments thinking how a year ago this weekend we bought my car and life seemed so normal. But I'm doing well and that's important.

Lynn, you've done more on your own in a month than I've done in 11!! I hope the move is a smooth one. Your circumstances are totally different than most women and this move will give you a sense of peace, I hope. Going through all of Dave's things has taken me 11 months and I have NOT moved---so of course you've had down moments! But I think once you're settled and near your kids you will be okay. Hugs for a good trip!

Sammi, thanks! I hope your Small Mall has all you need and want! Even though I'm in a big city, everything I need/want is within a mile or so and I don't venture too far myself!

Brenda, you are a survivor and have risen to the top! You amaze me with your resilience. I hope I can do as well as time goes on. My middle son keeps telling me I need to learn more and do more for myself. I cried before he left yesterday and told him I've never done as much as I have been doing----and I'm so tired of learning!! But you're a wonderful example of taking charge. Can I be you when I grow up??!

RW, I love the Santa outfit! And I love strong coffee. I'm having some right now. Happy day to you!

It sounds like you're on the mend, Bonnie. Hooray! And I'm so glad you're going to have company. I would imagine that will be a wonderful thing. Happy week!

You're quite the adventurer, MN...an elk hunt! I went deer hunting and duck hunting twice with my husband over the years but I always wanted a real potty and a hot shower...I'm not a pioneer woman, lol! hOpe the exercise was great.

Okay...enough procrastination. Off to the shower and then to school...

My thoughts today - ready to get back to a schedule of regular exercise. I did some hiking on the elk hunt but it will be fun to see friends at the gym. Hubby is back on call with the railroad so that means he has no schedule.... this will be interesting.

I can do it!!

Hi,

I am finished packing. The movers will be here in the morning and I will pack the computer then. Everything is going good so far. Cried a lot today. I feel like I am leaving Kirk. I know that's silly but it feels funny to pack and move without him. I know I am starting my new life without him but I don't feel ready to do that. Anyway, I wanted to check in before I go. I won't be back online for a few days. I hope to get my stuff Wed or Thur. Have a great week and I'll talk to you all soon, Lynn

Doing pretty well. My incision is healing better, so I am glad of that.

Went to the grocery store yesterday, and boy are my legs and back sore today! Did good! My friend Diana carried it all in.

My cousin Shirley from Tenn, came yesterday to stay with me, then tomorrow, she is moving on to another relative. We have had a nice visit.

Prayers for all of you and God Bless. you are in my thoughts.

Lynn,

You have done an amazing job selling your house and doing all the sorting, tossing and packing and I bet you are exhausted, both mentally and physically. Over the years people have said that when you lose a loved one, you should wait a year before selling your home but I disagree with that. I think we need to just get on with our life and do what we think is best for us. Yes, we might get rid of a few things that we probably should have kept, kept things we should have gotten rid of, but it is only stuff. Since my last move I have pretty much sorted through my life 'collections' having sold or donated them. Anything that gives me bad memories goes out the door and I replace them with good memories. It's been just over five years since my husband has his stroke and I pretty much have things as I want them finally.

Sending good thoughts and prayer to you that your move will go smoothly and the weather cooperates.

I do love to shop, but I can go for weeks and not even think about it -- but then I see something new advertised and I have to go on line and find it or out to our tiny Mall -- small, but mighty.

Happy Sunday, friends! Lynn, I'm glad you got my card. Have a safe trip. I know we'll all be ready to hear how you fared. I'm so proud of you!

Michelle, thanks so much for the prayers! Yes, Advent...new beginnings! I don't know what time I'm going to Mass today---my middle son is dropping by on his way back home so I have to be 'ready' for whenever he comes. Kids! They never give a timetable! It's been a very busy week and I've gotten a lot done. Yesterday I gave a bunch of my hsuband's things to a church charity and I'll move some of my off season clothes into that closet. I saved back some favorite shirts and still have several shelves in the armoire to go through. It's a start.

Sammi, it sounds like you had a delightful time shopping. Hope it's a great week for you.

Here's to a time of reflection over the next weeks. We all have something to be thankful for. I'm so grateful for my real life AND Spark Friends!

Happy Sunday! It's sunny and going to be warm til later this afternoon --- then come the clouds, some sprinkles and colder air --- boo hiss ---

Lynn, have a smooth, safe trip --- hope all goes well for you.

The arts/craft fair was nice --- a bit smaller then last year, but some really beautiful things, paintings, photography, jewelry, neat pens and stuff made from pine cones, unusual and
lovely. Lots of little stuff -- I purchased a lovely spider with green and red legs to hang on
the small tree on the front porch --- will start decorating on the 1st.

Everyone have a beautiful day. Sammi

Weekends been great with all the family and today they'll be heading home.
I'm going to Manasota beach for a couple hours this morning it's going up to 82 today real nice !!

a little humor for today;

The little boy was late for Sunday school and the pastor, seeing him slip in, detained him and asked him the reason. The boy shuffled his feet uncertainly for a moment, then blurted out, "I started out to go fishing instead, but my dad wouldn't let me."

The pastor beamed broadly. "A wise father," he said. "He was quite right not to let you go fishing on a Sunday. Did he explain why?"

(Story continues below)

The little boy nodded. "Oh, yes sir. He said there wasn't enough bait for the two of us."

Happy Saturday to everyone here. Your adventures become mine in a vicarious way, lol. I'm going to try for a complete 'put everyting where it belongs' today as well as finishing up school work for Monday. A fresh start to the next few weeks...they're bound to be hard in many ways but life goes on!

Good morning! I'm getting into the holiday spirit! I usually don't get into the spirit until Christmas Eve, so this is a first. Last night,me and my two best friends went on a Holiday-Walk-About. This is where all the stores, shops and businesses in the downtown area open up from 6-9 and different bands, singers, choirs, and the like provide entertainment. The stores are all decorated for the holidays and they offer hot chocolate and cookies and popcorn and one church even offered dinner. We rode the trolley to our last stop, a nightclub that had a jazz band playing great music. Okay, here's my confession, I did have one glass of wine. It was a wonderful night, sooo, today, I'm gonna get started on decorations..at least that's the plan right now, it's still early. emoticon

Good Morning! The sun is coming out and I'm on my first cup of coffee --- there is an arts and craft show in Ozello today. Went last year -- it was really nice -- lots of different stuff to look at and just the right size. My brother called me on Thanksgiving so I was able to talk to him, his two daughters who were there for dinner and his wife. Looking forward to being outside and walking around -- did the recumbent bike yesterday instead of the gym --- 40 minutes -- trying to get back to an hour. Not looking forward to the cold front coming in tomorrow night. Hope everyone has a great day! Sammi

Mary and Lynn

God Bless you both for your strength, courage. Prayers for you both during this holiday season.

Stopping to let you know I am ok. Babysat all day Monday, Tuesday and Weds. the first two days, Gracee was very sick, so I was there with her. She is much better now. Strep throat and ear infection.

Thursday, all of the kids were home from school, and we spent most of the day together. I enjoyed all of them, but was very tired by yesterday.

Had dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousin, mom and dad at my aunt and uncle's house. Had a lovely dinner and visit.

Today, just resting.

I am doing fine, but I have a lot of healing to do, so I am sleeping a lot, resting as well.

Hope you are all well, and God Bless

Lynn, I'm so proud of you! We've done several non-traditional holidays this year so I felt up to giving a 'real' Thanksgiving dinner a try. DAve was a fabulous cook and had been doing all of our cooking for the most part for the last 5 years or so. It was hard to not turn around and see him in the kitchen this year! But all the kids brought something and we did just fine. I'm glad you made the best day you could. I gave away lots of underwear, socks, and sweaters on Wednesday and will bring a big load of dry cleaned clothes to a church charity tomorrow. We're doing it 'our' way and making a new start. Here's to an easy move...I sent you a card and hope if it doesn't get to you today you'll have it forwarded !

I had a pretty good Thanksgiving. My (20 yr old) twins got here last night, with the grandson who is 13 months. Kept busy going through some of Kirk's things. I hardly cried at all. I went to visit a lady from my grief group for about an hour. I didn't stay for dinner since I had to make supper here. We had Terriaki steak, broiled shrimp, rice, and veggies. They bought me a lemon pie which is my favorite. It wasn't a traditional Thanksgiving dinner but it wasn't a traditional year. Next year maybe I will do the regular stuff. Besides I have to use what left in the fridge before I move on Mon. My oldest daughter is taking the Megabus and will get here today at 6pm. She is staying overnight and driving Kirk's truck back to Mpls. Her dh is going to sell it for me. I am not a crowd lover so shopping is out for me. And besides whatever I bought, I would have to pack and move it. lol Lynn

I'm not shopping, either, Brenda, so you're not alone! I'm glad you didn't lose power and that you were able to be with a few other people. Not overeating but still feeling stuffed---the best of both worlds!

I had a lovely day. All my kids were with me and my SIL and younger son's fiance. Everyone stayed til 4:00---a record in our 'eat and run to the other relatives' household. The Austin son went with me to visit Dave's mom today. He brought her belated bday gift---an Elvis lamp! She was delighted and told all the nurses to go to her room and see that "Elvis was IN the building!" I have bills to pay and things to put away. My gym closed at 1:00 and I didn't realize it til too late. I'll either take a walk (it's really nice today) or do a video.

Don't spend too much or eat too many leftovers, friends!

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family - and I did not overeat. For some reason I did not sleep well last night so I'm just having a quiet day at home. The weather is so nice I decided to go out for a walk - it's great to be able to so that again. Hubby wants to go to Home Depot tonight to check out the Black Friday sales - we'll probably grab something to eat out. I do most of my shopping on line since I really hate the crowds in the stores. After a busy day I hope to be able to sleep better tonight.

No one is posting this morning so you all may be out shopping for Black Friday or sleeping in. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Myself, I never go out in the crowds to shop, no matter what is on sale, it just isn't worth it to me. Things can happen in the crowds and tempers flare and it could be very scary.

Our power stayed on here but Centralia five miles up the road had power outages most of the day. A few people from there came here for dinner so they got a hot meal and a warm place to sit and visit. Our meal was delicious! I only ate one plate and one piece of pie and was stuffed the rest of the day. I couldn't even eat dinner last night, just a small bowl of fruit salad. It rained and the wind blew most of the day but our rivers have not overflowed so far, in our area anyway.

Have a good day.

Whew...I'm with you, Brenda---my, how this group has grown! And I'm a new person myself, lol! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today. Despite my trials this year I am truly blessed with fabulous children, dear friends, a paid-for house, and many things to explore in life.

Brenda, since Dave was in the hospital last Christmas and passed away right afterwards, I decided to have a non-celebratory year, too. I'm sure my friends will understand about me not sending cards or decorating. I want to cocoon myself. I will put twinkle lights in a ficus tree that my daughter's in-laws gave me instead of a floral arrangement and that's it! But I'll have the kids with me and that will be all I need.

Here's to family and friends, peace and contentment in everyone's life, as much as can be.

Decision was made, or maybe I should say my back made my decision to forgo going to Madison, WS for the holiday. Not sure if it is weather change or what, but my upper back was really hurting on Monday. Tuesday somewhat better, but the thought of riding for 4 hours, plus sleeping in a strange bed wasn't appealing to me. Thankfully, I have a very understanding family and they understood where I was coming from. This morning the back felt pretty good, but running errands this afternoon let me know that I really did make the right decision.

I know I will be missing a really fun time but we will be together at Christmas time at my son and daughter-in-law's here in town. I will be spending Thanksgiving at my daughter's with the family and some very close friends. This is pretty much the group that goes to Lutsen, MN for Christmas so we are all like family. There will be 15 of us plus my granddog, Pagoda.

Wishing everyone a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving. emoticon

Sandi,

Your husband is very lucky to go to the Macy's parade. I just hope the wind doesn't blow too hard and it has to be cancelled. I saw a blurb about it on the news yesterday. Keeping everything crossed for a good parade. I always watch it on tv and enjoy it emmensely.

RAINSAYER,

I have never been to Subway even tho we have one here locally. Eating out is not my 'thing' because I like to know what is in my food so I cook all the time.

We are having dinner here in our building so I am making a fruit salad, half canned and half fresh with Greek yogurt dressing. There are a lot of apple and peach pies in the freezer leftover from our bazaar so a few of them will be put out. There will be about 30 residents but not too many have said what they will bring for side dishes. There are a lot of really good cooks here so whatever they bring will be delicious. I don't plan to overindulge.

Enjoy the day.

Hi Everyone! Wow! This is a big active group! I love Subway too. I love the 6-inch veggie sandwich and they make the best salads. It's just the dressing I have to watch out for!

I made 2 pies today. I don't care for pumpkin pie so that won't be a temptation. I won't be able to resist a slice of the cherry pie though so I won't even try. Instead I'll try to eat sensibly throughout the day so that I can have that one indulgence.

I need to start exercising. I saw someone mention Curves and taking walks. I've got to get moving soon. The cold weather discourages me so.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Finished running all my errands this morning. I'm putting hubby on a bus to Manhattan so he can spend the night with his daughter and her husband. He has never seen the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in person (I have). He will meet Kelly in the city, spend the night at her apartment, go to the parade in the morning, and then they will drive home for Thanksgiving dinner. I am having a nice evening for myself - complete with dinner with a friend.
I have so much to be thankful for this year - especially the success of my hip surgeries. It feels so good o be walking again.
Hope everyone has a happy, healthy holiday!

We are having lots of rain today but it's suppose to be better tomorrow. I'm making stuffing and fresh cranberries to bring to the dinner my sister is having tomorrow. I usually make one of the turkeys but my oldest son is making it this year. I am cooking a small turkey for me and my hubby as when dinner is over tomorrow there is never any leftovers as there is about 30 for dinner. It is always a good time as we also plan for black Friday shopping. This year I can make the list for them but I can't join them as I have to work all day so I guess it's a blessing in diguise as I will be saving a ton of money that day lololol. Who am I kidding I probably go out after work. lololo Everyone have a happy day and enjoy.

Happy Wednesday,

Our flood warning have been lifted for today but more heavy rain is forcast for tomorrow so anything can happen. With all the rain the trees are falling so will keep my fingers crossed that they don't fall across power lines and interrupt dinner plans. Most of the storm damage is towards Seattle to the Canadian border. Many houses are in danger of sliding down the bluffs with the ground so saturated. Our town is south of Seattle about an hour away from Portland, OR. Portland is getting hit hard along their coast.

AD,
It's good to hear from you. This is an emotionally charged time now for many of us. I will be glad when all this hullabaloo is over and I can emerge from my cave. I still cannot handle Christmas hearing everyone talking about family and plans to get together. I gave away all my Christmas decorations when I moved here last June. The only thing I CAN do is send cards. That doesn't bother me but get me in a group this time of year and all I want to do is cry so I stay away. I'm pushing myself just going to Thanksgiving dinner downstairs tomorrow.

This group is getting huge and hard to keep up with everyone but I give it the old college try. It is intimidating to miss a few days and then try to read all the posts.

Sending good thoughts to all of you and hope you enjoy the holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving,
I've been missing for awhile . I've read the post and their are so many to catch up on. I've been back to curves after being out of their for amonth or so due to being sick. Better now just have a cough to battle. I've been down in the dumps alot lately everything makes me cry so i've decided i need to be back on my anti depressants. So this week i've started them again. I came off them in June and thought I was doing pretty well but I guess not. My doctor told me that I would know when I needed them and to start when I do. I didn't think I ever would again. I wanted to think I was better but I guess not

Hi! I sure do miss you guys. Believe it or not, I think about you all often! :-) I will try to read and catch up throughout the day. I'm so glad I am off work today (and of course for the next two days). I plan to work on my research paper and Power Point presentation and bake a pie and pumpkin bread to take with us to my sister's house tomorrow (she lives in Richmond, VA which will take us about 2.5 hours to drive). Friday, one of my brothers, his wife and daughter will come by for brunch. It will be a fun, but busy time off! DH promised he would clean the house since I'm swamped with school work.

Penny-I see you will have a hysterectomy soon. I had one done last year. Feel free to contact me if you want to ask questions, etc.

Hello Maggie. I hope you all have a good Thanksgiving. Don't overdo!
Went shopping tody to hopefully find something to a wedding next month---no luck. It is hard to find anything that fits me here in "The Land of the Little People"!! Guess I'll just have to dress casual...
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Maggie, I love subway -- my hubby and I stop in about twice a week --- my favorite is a salad -- half lettuce and half spinach with a few tomato slices, a couple of jalapenos and sweet onion dressing --- yummy --- also like their tuna sub --- I can't quite finish a 6" -- give the rest to hubby ---

Welcome back Karen --

Hello Karen, it looks like you and I are in the same boat. It is so nice to have people here to share with and receive inspiration. I've just been on this for a week, but I have it linked to my facebook and between the e-mails and little reminders on FB, this is a very helpful tool. I may even be able to make it through the holidays without blimping up.

I found a great site to help me with my nutrition. It is a calculator for Subway Sandwiches. Since I live very close to a subway, and I hate to cook for me, it comes in very handy. Tonight for dinner I will have a 6" subway sandwich with Turkey and Pepper Jack Cheese... toasted, with lettuce, tomatoe, onion, bell pepper... all for only 311 calories, and gives me 19 g of protein.... Just had a tall glass of ice water to hold me off till dinner...

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and yet I'm not. I've been on SparkPeople off and on for years. I need to get back to counting every little thing. I'm not gaining, but I'm not losing either. And, look out, here come the holidays! So, I hope to be stopping by here a lot more often. And I hope I'll be able to get to know all of you here.

Good Morning! A little bit of a late start this morning --- ready for today --- I remember when I lost my first husband how much I disliked some of the comments people would make --- when I talk to someone who has recently lost a loved one I usually say "there are no words" because you cannot know, even if it's happened to you, what the right words are to comfort that person.
It takes time and learning to remember the happy days not the last days --- I am blessed to have someone to love and who loves me --- I pray for comfort from family and friends to help you through. Blessings, Sammi

It's 4 in the morning and I just woke up and raced to my computer. I was a bad girl last night, (the sugar munchies got me) but will get back on the wagon today. My days and nights are mixed up, but does it really matter when you are a "bachelor without kids at home"???

Sandi - Wow, did you have a busy day, You are an inspiration.

Lynn - I lost my husband 4 years ago. My heart goes out to you. I find comfort now in pictures and have one special one out to remind me how much I was loved. Time will help but nothing will totally heal.

Michelle - Hi there. hope you have a great day.

Hi All,

I am taking out old photos of Kirk and me. Sometimes I think I can't remember what he looks like. I remember the way he looked at the end and I can't remember before that. He's only been gone 7 weeks and I can't remember. I went to a seminar at the funeral home and the speaker said you need to answer "Who am I now?" It's a tough question. He has a good book out called "Cry Until You Laugh".

Anyway, I am still packing. It will be good to see 3 of the kids for Thanksgiving. Last week I didn't leave the house for 5 days. Good thing I have a dog because I go for days without talking to anyone but her.

Have a good week and a Happy Thanksgiving! Lynn

Had a productive day today. Got another dresser cleaned and reorganized, and found some important papers I had forgotten to file. Then I designed my outgoing address labels for my Christmas cards and successfully printed them out. I put a border of little lights around the labels and they look really cute.

Went for my last physical therapy session today. Glad to be finished - and I accomplished my goal - no more cane!

When I got home I finished a knitted bunting I have been working on for my new grandson - just have to sew on the buttons tomorrow. Started working on a cute little pair of overalls. I love to work on crafts in the evening while I watch TV. It keeps my hands busy so I'm not stuffing my mouth.

Oh, what a day, but I accomplished so much---and on my own, I might add! I had the foundation leveled today. All went well and they did a nice job, I think. When I have more money and extra time I'll have to get a crew to float the seams in almost all the rooms but I can paint myself this summer. I also took my car in for a recall and got my tires rotated.

Brenda, I just put the turkey in cold water for 2 hours, then back into the fridge. It's 16 pounds and was frozen solid. I just wanted to get it going. I left it in the sink overnight one year...called the Butterball people in a panic on Thanksgiving morning and they told me to look inside and pull out the package of giblets....it still had ice cicles on it and they said it was okay---we survived, lol. But thanks so much for your concern. I do try to be very careful overall. I have pictures of Dave alone and with me, the kids, our daughter's wedding, etc. all over the house. The funeral home gave us a lovely large portrait and that's in the living room. But if pictures make you sad or bring back bad memories you need to do whatever you can to stay positive. Hugs!

Sammi, congrats on losing this week. That's a great accomplishment!

i have an appt. with my attorney tomorrow in hopes of settling the last of Dave's estate. I'm looking forward to my kids coming here for Thanksgiving!

Sammi,

The pictures I have not hung are just nature ones, not family pictures. Family pictures are in the albums that are still packed away in a box in the closet.

We all have our crosses to bear and deal with things in our own ways.

Lois,

I hope you feel up to going to dinner with your family. You are blessed to have family that loves you and wants to to be with them.

Yes, replying to all the posts is daunting but I try to keep up everyday but I don't always post.

Have a good day.

Haven't been posting lately so really far behind on what is happening. After reading some of them today - I am completely exhausted, sad for some and happy for others.

Quiet weekend - reading, knitting and catching up with some friends. Laundry today - our laundry room is down the hall so will get some extra steps. Have to make a decision as whether or not I am going to go to Madison, WS on Wednesday with my son and daughter-in-law. My granddaughter (who was married in May) is having Thanksgiving this year. It will be a very busy weekend and not sure, if how I am feeling today, I am up for it. I love being with all of them, but I need some down time, too.

Timer just went off - next trip to the laundry room. Have a good week and a safe wonderful Thanksgiving (for all those who celebrate it)..

Brenda, I lived in Seattle for a year -- that's where I lost my first husband to cancer --- I did just the opposite -- I made collages of pictures of him and surrounded myself with them -- I loved seeing his face everywhere -- I guess you have to do what works for you. Bless you.

Happy Monday!

Our snow event didn't happen here in the valley but it is cold. Now we are expecting a huge rain storm beginning today for the next couple days. No rain here yet but I can see it on the news north of us. They are crashing on the freeway. We may have rivers overflowing their banks in the next four to ten days. We are right in the flood zone but our building is on a hill so we will be all right. although stores may be closed so I am prepared as much as I can be.

Mary,
When I read that you have your turkey in the sink in cold water, red flags went up. I thaw my turkey in the refrigerator for three or four days ahead of the 'day', then put it in the sink in cold running water to finish thawing if needed. I am very concerned about keeping the bird at the right temperature in the thawing process or that could cause sickness. Of course, I don't cook a turkey anymore as I opt for a whole chicken instead. Just for myself. This year I will be joining the residents here for dinner. It was two years ago that I had a turkey dinner when I cooked one for the residents where I used to live. Now my friend who still lives there has taken over cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for those who have no place to go. Our dinner here will be a potluck for all the trimmings, management is buying the turkey.

My walls are bare since my husband had his stroke five years ago and everything changed that instant. I can't bear to put up the pictures that went with us with every move because it brings back painful memories. I sent about half of them to auction when I moved here, thinking I might hang the rest. So far they are sitting beside the freezer in the corner of my living room. Maybe someday I will put them up again...........

MACI,
Have a great holiday and it will be great to hear about your adventure when you get back home.

Bonnie,
I am glad to hear you are taking it easier now and giving yourself the healing time that you need. I understand your need to get back to doing everything you like to do because I am the same way.

Everyone else,
I love hearing from you all but it is hard to remember everyone's message without opening another window to read them as I am replying. So have a great day.

Good Morning Maggie -- I've been down to the St. Pete area three or four times --- I'm trying to remember the name of the restaurant that I've met friends and family -- they were usually staying in or near Fort Myers and it was in the middle for everyone --- it's something like Sea Critters -- it's right on the canal --- people pull up outside in their boats. Anyway, I love the feel and the food there. I've been up and down a pound the last week --- good luck to you on your Spark Start!! emoticon Sammi

Good Morning everyone --- it's a lovely morning -- went to a craft fair yesterday in the darling Yankeetown --- it is such a cute place along the canals surrounded by trees --- need to win the lottery so we can buy a little house there for weekends on the water --- ah dreams, such fun.
Picked up a cute tie dye tee shirt and a few more plants --- it was just lovely walking under the big oak trees looking at all the neat crafts. Do have a wonderful week and eat smart on Thanksgiving. Blessing. Sammi emoticon

Sammi, how wonderful that you found a whole new life! I'm so glad. I'm still trying to find out who I am and 'where' I'm going!!

Bonnie, never worry about addressing everyone...it's so hard to keep up...but we're all glad to hear that you're on the mend.

I spent the afternoon taking things off walls and bookcases. I cleaned well and will enjoy putting things back in different places tomorrow or the next day. I went to Kroger's and got most of what I need for Thanksgiving. The turkey is in the sink full of cold water and I'm sl glad to be home!
