Now a third day where I am too busy to check in and now too tired. I guess it is good I am having lots of company, but am missing you all. Maybe sometime tomorrow or Monday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Happy Saturday! I am beat. Had a very busy day. After a few days of child watching (11,6, and 3) had a day of heat, humidity, and volunteering.

Our Kiwanis group held a "KidsFest" at one of our local parks. We were collecting school supplies for our Community Resource Services. They will give these to local families in need. We dis very well for our first attempt and even collected a tad over $100 bcks in cash from those who did not bring school supplies. We had games and crafts, bounce houses and an all girl teenage band. G Force. This group had competed on "America's Got Talent" in 2007. The fest was from 11-2.

After that, went down to help our DIL with take down of her Summer Market that she was holding at a different local park. She and a friend and their DH's and kids get this organized. It is her 6th Yr. The money that they make they donate to various groups in the area. Some went to the local Preservation Society, CRS and a family that has a child with cancer. SHe had 55 vendors this year with everything from jewelry to hand made soaps, to head bands, antiques, restoration, baby items, dolls, you name it. SHe also had 3 restaurants serving food, and kettle corn, slushies and lemonade. Also a Chinese raffle. There were about 20 donors for that with items from wine baskets, bike, adirondak chair, plants, antiques and the like. Much fun. She runs it for a Friday night and all day saturday at the end of July every year. Great turn out and a lot of repeat vendors. So we help with the take down.

Weather was great for both days but a tad warm. Was supposed to cool off and we did have a breeze off the lake. But I am ready for a shower and bed. Maybe an Ice cream before that. LOL!

No progress on our kitchen/great room reno. They were supposed to be here Weds to finish the floor. NOPE! My cabinets are in the garage and the new appliances are ordered. I am hoping to get some painting done tomorrow since the floor isn't done. We shall see. Something always comes up to change plans on the weekend.

Have a great Sunday! Stay cool and get some exercise.

Glad to see all the new faces. emoticon

Hi guys and gals! Happy Saturday to you all, albeit a very WARM Saturday for most of us (except our dear friends from Down Under and in New Zealand, etc!).

I've had a busy and productive day and feel GREAT about it! My day started out with teaching ASL to a sweet young gal (I've been teaching her on Saturdays for about two months now, earning a little money doing it!); cleaned our bedroom thoroughly, including vacuuming the lampshades, reorganizing and purging my closet; then EXERCISING: 30 minutes on the elliptical and strength training (abs, chest, shoulders and arms). I also have been washing clothes! Great day for me!

I hope it's been a good day for all of you.

Early evening to everyone. It is so warm and so humid and I have absolutely no ambition. Saturday morning coffee was down to just two of us. This does happen on occasion, but the two of us had a good visit. Ran one errand, came home took a nap and then got involved in a book. Still have to do some more walking to get my steps in for the day, but guess it will be in my unit listening to the tape. Have a good rest of the weekend. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi All,

I painted my bedroom yesterday....Purple. It turned out great. I think we will try out a new church today and then bbq chicken later. Today is my youngest boy and girl's birthday. The twins are 20 today. I didn't feel old until my oldest reminded me her dh will be 40 in a few weeks. She will be 37 this year. When your kids are getting to be middle aged you know where you are on the timeline. lol I am glad we are closer to our kids since we moved to WI.
I feel like I am back on track with my eating. Now, I need to start back exercising. Have a great weekend, Lynn

Hello everyone, I just wanted to jump in here...I've been putting it off because I wasn't sure if I was suppose to click on reply or create a new topic, then I decide if I did it wrong someone would tell me.
Looks like you are all doing really well in your weight loss...that's great! I think I may be down 5 pounds now....but I have decided to weigh myself only once a week and that's on Monday. I found that in the past when I was trying to lose weight I would weigh myself every day (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) and if I wasn't losing then I would tell myself to forget it and just go eat!! Anyway I think once a week will work better for me.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi ladies, Here I am up again at 4am. This seems to becoming a reg. thing for me, thank god I have my sparks to do other than TV and eating. Our home is really restless these days, the emotions are raw. sometimes we can look at the sit as positive than at other times we are infuriated at the injustice and have dreams of revenge. Everyday has been filled w/a new neg story from across the street, today He told my DD that he can't wait for his first payment because he is buying tix to Hawaii w/them. He is taking his son too! Now I know some of you must think , how nice he is going on vacation w/his son. but it is just a mean slap. everyday there's a slap. When she left he quit work immed an took the savings and bought a huge motorhome than daily harrassed her to pay his bills. Who knew such evil exists? The situation for me is: How do I go on w/o becoming angry and bitter. I have always been a happy go lucky kind of person. One of my tennis friends e-mailed me she couldn't play a match and asked me to get a sub for her, I wrote back to "just cancel it, I don't give a crap! take care of yourself." Thank god I deleted it before I sent it. this is not me!!!

*Lois- That is awsome hearing about your dental visit. I have heard about mall walkers, they go to the mall here before the stores open and walk it like a track. Never done it.
*Kathy= OMG that's tragic about your client. I couldn't imagine having that happen to me and have no public way to express myself. thank god for sign language. I thought the only bright side to this story is that my DD doesn't have to send her kids to a child molester, than I hear your story.
*Pen- My hubs was stationed quite a few times in japan, he liked it, have you been before? Why are you studying japanese?
*Sandi- Oh I wish I could have a really nice day like yours. My day will come. At least I have lil versions all day long of gratitude.
*Mary- What a great day for you and DD, What a grt exp. for her. My hubs has traveled all over the world and has told me blonde hair is amazing to other countries, how fun for her.
*Bonnie- Yeah Nick! It is gonna feel so good when the clutter is gone.
*Mel- Hope you enjoy your wkend. Hubs and I are taking the kids to a swimming party tomm, they are even having a band. I am gonna enjoy the day away.

I can't remember who said that I don't look old enough for this thread! Whomever it was Big Thank yous! I have been old enough along time just didn't have the age #. I was a gma at age 39 and my kids were all grown and gone by the age of 45. I have always fit in w/women who were older than me, now I finally caught up. It's funny I was an empty nester for a couple of yrs, w/all my fam in the same city but we were very into our lives. Now my den is filled w/toys again, my bathtub is filled w/bottles of stuff, everything is getting stained again and I really don't mind a bit. I would rather have the ones I love around me w/their crap and all, than live a life w/o my lovies. Am I crazy or what?? ~Maci~

Just checking in again tonight. Nick came over and we worked in the basement again today. Got a lot done, and thinking that maybe another 2 or 3 hrs will finish that. Then there is all of the stuff to be carried to the curb for a special garbage pick up on Aug 9th. After that he will sweep, wash down with the hose, and organize the garage. I will then feel I have gotten a lot accomplished even if someone else has done it. At least, I am having input and getting the satisfaction of the actual purging.

Not too busy tomorrow, so am going to try once again to read the 2 days of posts I have now missed.

God Bless my friends.

Hi everyone,

This week was so terribly busy I didn't have a chance to check in. I took class for 2 1/2 days which was really good and I enjoyed it, but unfortunately, the work and the emails don't stop when you go to a class. So spent my evenings trying to catch up which made for several very long days.

DD came home from South Africa today! It's good to have her back home again. Sounds like she had a very good time. She said her favorite thing they did was to go to a primary school in Johannesburg. I guess all the kids were fascinated with her hair. She has long blondish colored hair that has a slight natural wave to it. She said the kids all liked touching her hair. I thought the safaris would be the favorite part. But apparently (remember, this is a 15 year old talking) 3 days of safaris gets boring since all you see are the same animals - lions, elephants, giraffes, etc. I wish I could say I got bored of doing safaris in Africa!!! I can't wait to see all of her pictures.

Welcome Maci!!

Great job Steve at reaching your goal.

Hi to everyone else. I read through all the posts but don't have time to respond to all of you.

Keep sparking!!

Just a stop by...
Maci-Are you sure you are 50??? You don't look like you should be on this group!! ;-) Your story about your DD and the children makes me think about one of my clients, poor dear. *sigh* All four of her children were recently given to her husband, full custody. I obviously can't go into detail, but I'm so sickened that the judge did this!!! :-( Ugh.....We will help her get them back, at least partial custody, I hope. (I'm a mental health therapist for deaf individuals)

I took a nice, long nap this afternoon(what else am I to do with this heat??!!) Gonna go find some food and enjoy a glass of COLD wine!

Dental report. There was good new under the circumstances. After taking full mouth x-rays, he found the bone structure and the roots on the existing teeth is good and I should just continue what I have been doing. He wanted to see the x-rays before we went into any other discussion. He think, at least for the time being and hopefully for a long time, we are okay, but in the event there is a problem I will be looking at having to have upper dentures. Got the price of what that would cost, so if and when it will not come as a total surprise. Thankfully he was very understanding realizing that I was concerned and took extra special time with me.

Not much going on in my life - warm and humid again. Today had a few errand to run so took time and went to one of the malls to walk. Sure beats the scenery of walking in my halls, but missed listening to my book on tape. Probably do a little more this evening and get back to my tape.

Wishing everyone a great weekend - stay safe - take care of yourselves - and tell someone you love them

Hi sparkies, Went to my gdaug addies daycamp performance, now that is what life is about. Played tennis almost 3 hrs this morn. I am feeling preety good right now. After coming home i spoke to my DD about the court decisions. she said she was really angry all yesterday but when speaking to a friend , she came to the conclusion that "Hey if anyone would of offered her a deal of only 800 a mo to be free and clear of Mike than she would of signed up yrs ago!" teehee. We are gonna get through this fine.

*Brenda= we know he is spouting off neg stuff about Kacie to the kids but they don't seem to be buying it. Dr Phil says"If you do that it will come back later and bite you in the booty" I can only hope. as far as your weather goes, I like it cooler outside. I like the sun shiny only a few hrs a day, after my tennis games. I would love some rain today! Enjoy it!
*Kathy- OMG that's alot of monie to put in a car. Ouch! I hope you really enjoy that cool air. When you were writing about night swims I had a memorie hit. I grew up with a pool in my backyard and when we would swim at night I was always scared. all I could think about was sharks magically appearing. Yes, it 's true. teehee. I couldn't help but laugh at your bike story. Thats the way I ride a bike now. Last time I rode one there was a snake on the trail. I had to ride next to it, I was so happy I didn't fall.
*Michelle- I would send you info on how to do a profile pic, but mine was done by a fellow sparkie when i started, my hubs put a pic of me in my tennis gear on my sparkpage and the SPfriend took it off the pic. she did a close up. Maybe one of the girls on this thrread can do yours for you??? I never changed it because truly I haven't got a clue how to! Yes, you are not alone, i'm lucky I can do sparks at all. Good luck.

Tonight hubs and I are going to a timeshare presentation, we couldn't get past the freebie! A free trip for 7 days on Carnival or Noreigion Cruise lines, airfare included, plus a few other things, dinner for two etc. Plus we have always wanted to go into this one anyways. We have been to lots of these in the past and have always been able to walk out w/free gifts in tact and a fun datenight adventure. We are retired military so we get lots of perks anyways plus all our fam live in the greatest places to go anyways. Venice (italy), Las Vegas, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Reno, New Mexico, etc. and we have fam w/pools everywhere in our city and we own a granny flat so they preety much can't talk us into anything. Woohoo, I hope we can grind past the sales guy tonight! wish us luck. ~Maci~

Happy Friday!

Maci, I am glad you are feeling better now about what is going on with your DD's situation. It is so hard on the children being shuttled back and forth between parents. I can't believe that the judge awarded their dad joint custody. I would not want my children being with him as you don't know what he tells them. The world is a scary place anymore but the children will grow up anyway, I just hope they cope with all the going's on. Hugs to you and your family.

Our summer is settling down to being mostly in the mid-70's, cooler than normal but fine with me. Rain and 60's today. I will take this over the extreme heat.

Kathy, it doesn't matter what posts you respong to. We love hearing from you when you have time. Falling off the bike had to be embarrassing, to say the least. I'm glad you weren't injured seriously.

To everyone else, I hope you all have a good weekend. I plan to.

Hi guys! Goodness, it is 88 degrees already this morning and it's only 8:30!! Whew...it's gonna be a scorcher. I'm SO glad I got the AC in my car fixed the week before last! I had to pay $1100 for a new AC compressor and freon and picked my car up late on Friday and then that weekend, discovered it still was not working well! Arggh...Took the car back in on Wed and they had to replace the condensor, which was clogged up. Another 350 bucks down the drain. I've spent over $2600 on my car this year. The poor little thing is getting on up there in years and miles. It's a 2004 Honda Accord and has been a great car. I've got almost 199,000 miles on it! Anyway, so glad the AC works now, given the heat wave we've all been dealing with!

Bonnie, every time you talk about your pool, it makes me miss the one I had in SC. I used to LOVE night swims, too! It's so peaceful and relaxing in the pool in the dark!

AD- I would never have thought of people being allergice to artificial sweetners! Hope the headache disappates quickly. I read about your run in (oops-sorry about the pun!). I tried to reply to that section of postings, but was trying to cut and paste from MS Word and it did not work (MS word is actually set up in our EHR, so I could not cut and paste outside the EHR-lesson learned!).

Mel-You are so unfailing in your continuous support through the Friend Feed! I appreciate it when you cheer me on there! :-) I need to get back into being more supportive to all my dear friends.

I need the bubble wrap, too. Last weekend during the family reunion, my sisters and I went for a bike ride. I had not ridden one since high school!! I was quite wobbly on it and at one point, one of my sisters stopped in front of me and I braked (I am used to the brakes on the pedals, not the handlebars!) and was riding a men's bike (the bike rental didn't have anymore women's bikes) and fell to the ground, biting my lip and scraping my knees. Oh my....we all had a good laugh about that. Will try to post a pic that my sister in law took of us laughing.

Lynn-So nice to hear from you! Glad your shoulder is not bothering you too much. Are you settling in ok in Racine? Do you miss SC? I know you did not live there very long. How is your DH's job going?

Diana, congrats on your weight loss! I have the Eat Clean books-I need to dust them off and try to use them again!

I've been running several times over the last week, despite the heat. Not very long runs-only about 2.5 miles. Oh well.....I hope to get back into it. GI issues prevented me from running longer, but I hope to run more tomorrow morning. Will give myself a break today from it.

Here's hoping I get back into staying in touch with you guys better!

Maci hope things are better with your family life. Stress like that would cause me to overeat, too!
Lois, please take care of your teeth. Japanese people tend not to take care of their teeth (DH included!) & as a result have other major health problems down the line!
Mel, would love to chat via skype with you! I don't have a profile pic. b/c I don't know how to put pictures on the computer!

We had lots of rain today, but I managed to get in over an hour walk!
Have a good weekend, everyone!

The days are getting better. I woke up with a sense of gratitude about our situation. I decided that even though it is all just so complety unjust, in the long run, hey freedom costs sometimes and my gkids are not going to grow up in a battle zone anymore. My DD has most her life now free of constant harrassment, I can't imagine there is anyone who would respect someone who bent soo low as to on purpose plan and execute taking advantage of a mom. So... The universe will take care of things in its own time. Thank you for listening all. Tonight 3 of my gkidos spent the night and we had the best dinner, harbor walk, movie night. . Hubs is such an awsome gpa too! Life is soo good.
*Rosie- you sound like an awsome gma. Lucky too.
*Wilson- Were you able to stay OT (on tract) w/all the company? If so, Kudos to you, if not, no biggie, just start right now, right where you are!
*Lois- Dental is scary for many reasons, here is So Cal, lots of us went over the border to Mexico for dental work, but it's scary there now, things have changed. Maybe you can find a lo-cost dental office? Good luck.
*RW- Love the reminder that we are not alone. I really \believe that if I hadn't started up w/sparks again I would still be knee deep in food. This team/site is keeping it real for me.
*Beach- Yes, I am phys and mentally better when on track. always! Awsome on the ex. That is how I started exercising just 10 min a day. What i found out that if you have that as a goal you always end up doing more, and if you don't you still feel like a champ. Great Attitude!
*Bonnie- Sounds like a perfect day to me! woohoo.
*Sandi- It's exciting to learn to do something new on the PC, I only wish I could retain how to do them later. Hey I am lucky I can get around sparks. Not long ago that wasn't even a concept I could dream of.
*Zoo- Woohoo on your son's new times. Woohoo for you for brking lo-wt, sounds like a record brking wk for your family. Go Team!
*Mel- Thanks for the comment. Yes, sick in the stomach is a perfect discription. I decided to cancel my match tonight because I had before flu symptoms, napped than decided it was stress working it's way out of my body. I was so edgy yesterday my DD went to put her arm around me and I flinched. Never did that before. I just couldn't feel good in my skin anywhere ,. doing anything, today much better. Just moments.
*Skype- I didn't know it was free! What a wonderful thing, we have one gson who doesn't live by us, I think I will work on setting that up w/us all. Great idea, even if it's not perfect yet, hey it's better than Nothin!

Love:
*Less-Fear, eating, whining, talking... *More- Hope, chewing, breathing, saying, loving, and all good things will be yours!!! Happy Friday all! ~Maci~

Maci - That is just so unfair and what a terrible time you, DD, and your grandies are having. Circumstances such as yours make one sick to the stomach and if it's happening to you, then you feel sick in the stomach too. I just don't know what to write to make it better for you. Hope something good happens soon.

Rosie - What a pity you have given up on Skype. I emailed you about it too as I am set up now. Maybe you can have another go at it. SDU stands for Sparkies Down Under.

Re Skype: this is just so easy to set up and you certainly don't need any training. You don't even need a web cam but it is a whole lot better if you can actually see the person you are chatting with. DH has just come back from buying a web cam and only cost him $8.

Simply download Skype and install like any other program. It's completely free and skype to skype phone calls and video calls are all free around the world. I had a video talk with a sparkfriend this morning and was really cool!

I've read everyone's posts up to now so have a great Friday everyone. Stay motivated, spark on, stay cool or warm where ever you may be, and remember fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; love more, and all good things will be yours.

had a busy couple of weeks, but I've been good about working out some just about every day, I have been doing the 10 minute challenge and I think I only missed 2 days this month with that challenge. That was encouraging.

I even worked out hard at the hotel during my son's swim meet, well during the breaks that is. It was a great swim meet and my son dropped time in all of his events. This was huge, he has had a bad 18 months or so with health or injuries. I also ate better while we were gone.

AND best of all, since my weight seems to yoyo between a high and low weight, I finally broke that low weight this week. I'm hoping that things really start to stay on the downward slide. I do think I've lost a few inches total from all areas.

Just checking in briefly before my eyes close completely. Will have to catch up with the posts in the morning.

Had a great day with my two long time bff's. Went to breakfast, came to my house to swim, sit on the deck, eat a nice salad, swim, sit on the deck, eat a piece of the birthday cake that Debbie made for Amy's birthday, swim, sit on the deck, well you get the picture.

Debbie went home at 4:30pm and Amy went home about 9:00pm I am exhausted. But, so blessed that my friends are rallying around me to spend time with me at my home doing about the only thing I can do right now, get into the pool. We are all three getting pretty tanned.

Have a great day tomorrow, will try to catch up. God Bless.

Hello all!

Just checking in and seeing all the personal challenges so many folks have to deal with while working hard to resolve their weight and health issues. Life can sure be messy sometimes. For me, I've learned that it does make me feel better physically and mentally to try to keep on track during these times.

So, I am wishing strength and peace to all of you.

As for me, today is a pretty good day. Accepted the 30 Day 10 Minutes a Day Exercise Challenge yesterday. So, I did Zumba yesterday (20 min) and rode my bike for 13 min today. I must say even though it is only 2 days, psychologically it might as well be a month already! It probably has been a year since I strung 2 days of exercise in a row! emoticon

I am looking forward to 3 tomorrow!

Have a lovely evening everyone. Keep moving and hang tough!

Good Morning Everyone! I am feeling a little anxious this morning as I have an appointment this morning with my dentist for a consultation about some issues I am having with my teeth. Is there anything he can do short of having to go to dentures and also what is the cost. Without dental insurance, this becomes a major issue. Will be back later when I can be more focused. emoticon

Hello to everyone.

Had a family reunion that lasted a week at my parents house. They are right around the corner from me so we did not have far to go. But it was a lot of work.

I am trying to catch up on all the posts which is no small feat with this busy team. lol

Thanks Rosie, This two shall pass, it may take a 14 yrs but it is what it is. I can't sleep. I haven't slept much in the last yr actually. Grrrr. I made a promise to accept what I must and move on. The only thing good about this is that my DD is no longer under his roof. She told me going into this that even if she has to pay for along time it is better than living w/him. At least she has a break from it 1/2 her life. Hey there is always light (hope) at the end of any tunnel. Let's hope that this is a just world and all will be revealed.

On to a lighter subject. The skype sounds frustrating. I know my computer acts up sometimes and I am completely left w/ the feelings of ???. What do I do? Good news is better technology is on the way. I am sure there will be lots of alternatives in the near future. How old are your gbabies? Mine are 10,8,4, & 2. I get to see them alot. except the 2 yr old. We haven't tried the skype yet, but my Aunt swears by it. Maybe you all just need alittle training??? I know I would be clueless, I am w/all types of tech. Have a great Thurs. Thurs is gma fun day! Mom and I do it w/the gkids.

I had to share my day below, sorry it is so long.
*Bonnie- Love your quote! Great quote for our family this year! I'm gonna post it. Oh I hope they figure out the back pain soon.
*Sandi- Oh how cute another teddy! Hope you had a chance to enjoy your new patio set. My hubs Jim is a McQuiver type too! he can built, fix anything. Love it.
*Brenda- The tomm juice worked well, Jim had him take a few baths in it. Will try the mothballs
*Lois- Hey sparksister! Alittle storm sound really nice, I could use a change. I will keep the mothballs under the house so they are covered. thanks.
*Beach- I seriously cannot keep on track either unless I have accoutability.
*Nancy- I had you wtgain experience Monday, I almost fell off the scale, I called my hubs in tears appologising for letting myself get so offtrack, today is day4 and I am already -3.
*Lynn- I had a cockapoo named Lucy, I lved her. Mine was black, so cute. way to go on the emer stash. I also keep gbars in my car for my (opps I forgot) bkfsts.
*Michelle- Rain sounds nice, I am sorry to hear about your foot, It would be so tragic to me to loose the ability to play tennis, I hope you are still doing something you love.
*Mel- I'll take a cute wallabee over a PePe anytime.

Today was tough but I didn't overeat. The only thing worse than a tough day is a tough day with extra food added! I am over that! It doesn't work anyways! The feelings always come back 10 fold.

hard day: Today was my DD custody hearing. 8mos ago she took her kids and left her drunken angry hubs. He quit working the day she left, has harrassed her everyday since then. Uses the kids to hurt her alot, and has this all documented via his own sorry texts, phonecalls, etc. We live across the street. The neighbors wrote about his violent angry outbursts and I documented many insidences. We have been in fear for months of retaliation. He even has a few DUI's and has been arrested for drunk and disorderly. Well at the hearing today He got 50/50 custody. My DD has to pay him 580.a mo for his 1/2 time w/the kids, 200 in alimony, 700 he gets to collect all their mutual condo rent monies, and 500 towards his court fees. She is an ER nurse that works 3X a week earning 40 and hr. 36 hrs a wk. He was ordered to Anger mgmt classes and parenting classes, and he told a story that she was a drunk too! (big lie) and they decided that both of them can be alcohol tested at anytime the other one states during their 1/2 wk they have the kids. So basically My DD works the nights her kids are with him, and on her nights off, she is not allowed to have a glass of wine at night w/friends ever. And she has no history of any type of abuse. Oh and he got the right to stay in their home, she asked the court to be reinstated because she had to leave in duress. This is the biggest travisty of justice I have ever heard of or witnessed. This is what was happening when I put on my 27pds. My daughter moved in for safety reasons, and we have lived under a home filled w/angry outbursts at us, all night angry phone calls, etc. He was instructed that he is not allowed to contact her anyway but thought a court e-mail because his texts were so vile. (the judges words) Now what do I do with this? I have watched my DD live in complete fear for 8 mos and the beast won it all, just as he claimed he would from the beginning. My DD only worked part time 2 days a wk. until Brianna was 2. (she is 4) and then only went 3x a wk since then. He is claiming that he was the full time caretaker, Nothing was farther from the truth. My mom always watched Brianna when she worked, Mike was out drinking. Everyone around stated it, but the courts didn't care. It is truly insane.

I ate for 8 months to calm my feelings of outrage, unfairness, watching him make my daugher beg for her agreed w/ time w/her kids, Watching him yell curse words at her constantly, she has been silent, waiting when she goes anywhere hoping he doesn't hurt her, watching to complete disrespect to us all. None of it mattered. How do I live with that somemore and keep myself in line, not binging, and with some sence of happiness? Sorry to share such a neg experience. I will push past it, I have to. I told my DD hey it's just money, and that's doable. If one of the kids were sick that would be much worse, it's like paying for a bad accident.

Rosie - It must be so hard for you. I have been toying with the idea of setting up Skype. If I did, maybe we could have live chats or whatever they do on Skype. I don't know much about it but will look into it soon. SDU are setting it up, which made me think of you, but I noticed you are not a team member there.

Maci - How awesome having skunks. There are no skunks in Australia, only 'Pepe le Pew' cartoon character, lol. Backyard invaders here mainly wallabies and possums and they play havoc with everything in the gardens.

I've read everyone's posts up to now so have a great Wednesday everyone, stay motivated, spark on, stay cool or warm where ever you live, and remember if you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.

Nancy welcome! We give each other a lot of support. Stay with us & we will all get this weight off together!
Bonnie, I can sympathsize with you! I know all about bad backs---I have 3 slipped disks in my back. Recently had an MRI, Circulations tests, tests for arthritis etc because I have been havning a lot of numbness in my left foot, causing me to fall down. Seems that the disks push on the nerves that control the foot/ankle movements. I am on prescribed meds for it & see my dr. regularly..
Lynn, good for you! glad you made it yesterday.
We are having some badly needed rain, despite the high humidity. Now if it would only cool off...

Hi All,
I took Maggie (Cockapoo) to the new groomer today. I decided to stay in town and shop while she was getting her hair cut. She was supposed to be done at noon, but wasn't. So, I had an hour to kill.....and I was starving (or I thought I was). I kept trying to think of the least damaging thing to buy for lunch. I bought a diet coke (I know...I know). Well all of a sudden it hit me. I always keep a granola bar in my purse....just in case of emergency (break the glass emergency). It was there and I ate it and didn't buy anything. I was so glad I remembered I had it. It was old and stale and it tasted great! When I got home I had a plum and an apple. I made it over the first hurdle!!! Lynn

Welcome to join us here. This is the place to be. No one judges you, everyone commiserates with you, celebrates with you, and the best is everyone cares about you. We are all just trying to deal with life in general "One day at a time". Glad to have you.

Beachbreeze

Good for you getting yourself right back where you want to be today. The nice thing about this thread is that there is usually someone here to talk to and get support no matter if you are gone for a bit or here every day.

LOIS

Hope you enjoyed your walk!

As for my back. I am not having nearly the amount of pain that I was, so that is a plus. However, I am not doing anything except swimming in my pool, and getting on my inversion table a couple of times a day.

I have scheduled an MRI for Monday at 8:00pm. Hoping to have some answers, and a new course of treatment after that. Hoping that pain management will be the answer. But, will see whatever it is, and deal with it as best I can, with all of the support I am so lucky to get here and from my friends and family.

SANDI

Thanks to you as well for the support.

I am very excited for you to get your new patio set. This is a very good time to be buying it, so your husband broke it at just the right time!

So cool that you will have help with your room, and will get all done in one day. What fun. If I am understanding correctly this is for a grandchild, right?

Had a nice day today. Was cool enough to sit on the front porch, even if they decided to work in the street right in front of my house. Decided to just stay and ignore the dust and noise.

Mom went to the grocery for me and then came over and we had a bite of lunch and then got in the pool

It is very cloudy out this afternoon, so thinking we might get some rain. Can use it for sure.

Enjoying my summer for sure.

OMG.... I just measured myself for the first time in quite awhile...... I can't believe how big the numbers are!

OK, this just means I have to keep up the exercise, not just watching calorie intake or pounds lost, but the proportions of my body.

By the way, when did I get this big? I guess I got busy raising a family and pursuing my career that I forgot about me. Truthfully, I am a bit shell socked, but I am off to work out. I am determined to make this change.

Hey all,

Have been out of touch that last few days.

Congratulations Steve on reaching your goal! emoticon

Mel: If I do not track I eat off-track! That is all there is to it. I did not track this weekend as I was not on my computer very much and did not bother to write it down. I get back on that wagon.

It is great reading all these posts. I look forward to the day when I can keep everyone straight in my mind. There are so many people.

Have a great evening everyone.

Good Morning Team! I think the lazy days of summer are with me. I have to pushed myself to do anything. We are heading back into some hot and humid weather with some storms tossed in for good measure.

Brenda and Maci, I don't know about moth balls for skunks, but I know that their aroma will stay around for a long time. To keep the little creature out of some of the plantings around our condo, I put moth balls in them. With sun humidity and even rain the smell was pretty overwhelming. Needless to say, I did remove them.

Bonnie, all I can say about backs is emoticon . Hope you can get some relief.

Rosie, enjoy your travels and back into Sparks when you get home. emoticon

Sandi, how fun to get new porch furniture. emoticon

My retired dentist did call me and he gave me some very good suggestions and a direction to take. I have a consultation meeting scheduled tomorrow morning with the dentist I have been seeing. Hopefully we can come up with a plan that will work and not be too expensive. Obviously, I do not have dental insurance. Retirement and fixed incomes in this day and age is kind of a bummer emoticon

I'm off to get some exercising in - will check back later. emoticon

Maci,

I have heard that if you sprinkle moth balls around and under buildings, that is supposed to keep them away. The only other thing that you can do is set out traps but your dog might get in one. Washing things with tomato juice neutralizes the skunk stink.

Good luck!

PS The tomato juice is used full strength, do not dilute.

Maci - Welcome to the team! This is the most caring, supportive group. Sorry to hear about the skunk. Hope you can resolve the problem. On a lighter note - I also have a dog named Teddy Bear - only mine is a bichon.

Rosie - I am always fascinated to read about your travels. I have learned a lot.

Mel - keep those blogs coming! I look forward to them every day!

Bonnie - hope your back starts to feel better. I'm sure this miserable weather has not helped.

I am anxiously and happily waiting for a delivery of a new patio set - hexagonal glass table, six chairs, and an umbrella. My old set was 11 years old and is beginning to wear - one chair actually ripped when hubby sat in it last week and he is 6'5" and only 195 lbs. We weren't looking to buy an entirely new set - but I got such an exceptional price that we couldn't resist.

Going shopping tonight to buy chair rail to go with the wainscoting in Peanut's room. My stepson and grandson are coming for a visit for a week starting Thursday. Tim is just as handy as Jim(my hubby) and is going with us to do the work. This way, we hope to complete the project in one day.

That's all for now. Have a sparkling day!

Sorry about the skunk. Have never had that experience. Live in the city so we have an abundance of raccoons, opossums, feral cats, but no skunks thank goodness. My only experience with them is when we have been camping. Then they are so used to people, that they are only looking for spare food, and people seldom get sprayed. Sympathy, but no solution.

"Miss Piggy Gone Wrong". Love it. Sorry you are feeling it, but love the descriptiveness of the phrase.

Really hope you enjoyed your travels. I know that life there is difficult for you.

Good one about the smiles! They are also a very good thing to share with others!

Have a good day all.

First of all girls, I am not computer savvy at all, so it might not be called a blog! It is her website called Oprah.com. On it she has excerpts form her magazine, shows, etc. The paraphrase I wrote from was from an interview with Geneen Roth. I am sure it is there to read all about. It was under the month of 'oprah says she will never diet again' I didn't copy it strait so it might read different. I am so sad she is gone. I used to watch her program everyday. She has a new station called OWN. "Oprah Winfrey Network" and it has some good stuff on it, but lots of reruns.

I am here awake again because my backyard got skunked again! The smell is hideous! Friday night my dog teddybear (alittle yorki) got skunked bad. We spent the whole wkend washing everything and could never really get the smell out of the air, now here we are again. Grrrrr. any ideas on how to get rid of backyard skunks??? We are fenced so we can fence them out but how to get rid of them if they are under our porches, guest house? HOpe you are are sleeping peacefully, i'm really tired!
