Sorry, guys, I don't have the energy or spirit to read all of the posts that I have missed.

I am having a tough time right now, partly because of my back issues, my eating issues, and some other things that are not even really worth mentioning, they will get worked out eventually, nothing life threatening, just frustrating and upsetting.

So, I guess I am coming here, and to my other thread as well, to ask for prayers for me for strength, and courage, serenity, and acceptance, and to appreciate all of the good things in my life.

Thanks in advance, I just need a push back onto the other side of the edge!

Yay! Tomorrow is the first of July and a holiday for everyone! (almost) All my children will be home this weekend and we're planning a family BBQ for Saturday night. I can't wait! Especially since my son-in-common-law is doing all the cooking. We're also going to teach him how to eat s'mores. He's a city boy born and bred and has never experienced a campfire. This boy has been seriously deprived!

Vent away, all you venters. This seems to be a nice safe place to do so. Don't hold it in because that's not healthy.

To those in pain: strength, patience and peace to you all. Whatever has to be done to relieve your suffering, may it be effective. I hope the doctors have the wisdom and knowledge to actually help. After all the effort you put in to find relief, I hope it's worth it in the end.

Llove,

Llyra

Good Afternoon Team. Got a hair cut this AM , went to the library , did a couple of other errands and hurried back home to get the AC on. Hopefully nothing comes up that I have to go back out again. We finally got it - sun, humidity and heat. The last time I checked it was 92 with heat index of 100. Just a little steamy.

Sandi, so sorry to hear about your report. Being in pain all the time is so hard, but now knowing what the problem is and there is a solution. Surgery doesn't ever sound good. I can relate - just before my back surgery I saw a neurologist and was told that it was my call, but that I did needed surgery as well as a bone fusion. My response was what are you doing this afternoon, because of the pain and I wanted it over. Best decision every made. The same thing happened before my knee surgery. Both knees were equally bad so the decision was made to do both at the same time. Again, best decision every made. Thankfully, my hips are okay at least for the time being. Prayers for you.

Going to spend a little time reading today as I got two new books from the library. I got most of my steps in doing my errands so no walking in the halls today as they are not air conditioned. Might walk in the underground garage later. Take care everyone, have a good day and/or evening wherever you are, and will be back tomorrow.

Welcome Elaine!
Bad news from the doctor today. Not only do I have arthritis of the spine, but I may also have stenosis as well. But the main problem is the arthritis in my hips. My right hip is so bad she can't even see the outline of the joint on the x-ray. The left has all kinds of spurs and other problems. The plan of action is first to go for an MRI, then to see an orthopaedic surgeon to see if one or both hips have to be replaced, and to make an appointment with a pain management doctor. Then I will see the back doctor again. I can't begin to tell you how upset I am. I have always been a very active person and I am sick and tired of endless doctor appointments and nothing but bad news every time I go. I haven't even recovered from my dental implant surgery yet. And my first grandbaby is coming in Nov. - I want to be able to enjoy this child!
Sorry for venting - but it's good to have somewhere to go. emoticon

AD,

You have more patience than I do. Me, I would take everything they left and toss it and then clean and fumigate and send them the bill for cleaning. I just can't understand how they could live like that in your home. Ungrateful, if you ask me. But you didn't. I am glad you had your GD help you (even under duress) so she knows that is was not acceptable to leave the place in such a mess. It is not her fault, it is the parents neglect that makes me so upset. Now I have my venting out of the way.
Anyway, I am glad to hear that you have your home back to yourselves.

Welcome newby's. I hope everyone has a safe and sane weekend. I plan on spending a quiet one.

Hi all,

welcome to all the newbies. Hope you stick around for a long time.

This week seems to be better. As you know the family moved out. My hubby cleaned out the bathroom so it was usable for us. You don't want to know what it was prior to that. UGH
Today gd came over to stay as it saves them money with the sitter if i take her the two days I have off a week. I had her help me(under duress) clean out the tv room so that we could make room for my dad. He will be here on the 6th and we needed to clean out a shelf in the toy closet for his clothes. After that I made her help me clean up her room. It was horrible. It had critter food all over the place and the dirty laundry was unbelievable. I told her mom about the room on Tuesday and she said she was done with it. Nothing needed to be taken out the rest was staying and that was that. Well it drove me nuts to see the mess and I can't keep the door shut as it makes the hallway dark so we cleaned it up. Now it looks better. I"m just hoping they will do some cleaning in thier room so I can clean the carpet and get it ready for a guest room. I'll probably have to clean that room as well. Mothers work is never done. I'm just glad they are moved out and on their own. I did buy her a house warming gift I bought her dish towels for her kitchen since I know she always just used mine.

Well have to go get the gd at her friends home today where i walked her to this morning after she helped me. I enjoy letting her go to have fun with them as the rest of the time she is in a day care with age 3 and under. She tells me she hates it but likes the lady. Oh well.

Now that i've vented a bit thank you all for being here for me

Hi all, a newbie here!
Since moving to Qatat in the middle east from Uk 3 years ago, I have succumbed to what is known here as the "Doha Dozen" well for me it is 14 not just 12 lbs to loose!
I think there are some great tools here, and know that tracking and portion control (plus more exercise) is the way to go - just don't find it easy to plan ahead online here, sure that a calorie counter book and piece of paper is quicker! Any hints?

Have great day or evening wherever you are on thhe globe!

Going to a new doctor today who specializes in lower back pain. I have a feeling mine is related to the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips - but I still want to find out if there is any way to lessen the pain short of surgery.

Mel-Our May 24 weekend holiday and July 01 are close ones then we have Aug 01 for New Brunswick Day, then Labor Day weekend in September, Thanksgiving in October although that is not a government Holiday anymore, November is Nov. 11- Remembrance Day- then of course December has Christmas and so on! Yeah...we like to holiday!

Up and snail pacing along- today was weigh in and I lost down a fraction of a kg but it wasn't a gain! Time to make some pizza dough as we are having company for movies and pizza tonight. Whoopie pies are next on the agenda before I head to work where I am making a roast chicken dinner as my bosses' mom is coming for her birthday celebration and that was her request for a special meal. I love cooking and baking and it is a way to relax so am glad that I have others to lavish the results on and not just my own family.

Everyone have a great Thursday!

Good Thursday to everyone!

Lugene - I see by your post that both Canadians and Americans are on another holiday soon. We've got to wait until the end of October before our next public holiday. Always stacks in the first 6 months and very few in the last 6 months. Oh, very well done with the babies food. It certainly sounds like you were on the right track with them being overfed. You are one busy hombre.

NJJAZZ - The mind boggles thinking about 9 miles on the bike and then running 4 miles as well! Whew! I'm thinking the renovations would be enough exercise, lol. Well done!

Wilson - Your thumb seems to be permanently on the capslock when you post. Sorry, but any chance of lowercase as it takes twice as long to read the uppercase stuff. TIA. I'm with you about all the stuff that should be tossed out. I take one look too and close the door on our spare room. Our bedroom carpet is worn out but right now it's just too much hassle to even think about renewing it.

Lois - If all it takes is the sun to shine to change your attitude, then I hope you have sunny days forever girlfriend.

Mary - Luck to DD. Enjoy your trip to the cabin and your time off work. Yes my Thursday is actually coming to a close now. It's almost 5 pm which makes it 3 am Thursday in Sparkpeople Land.

Spark on and always remember that a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

AD – hope today was better for you.

Bonnie – sounds like you and the girls had a lot of fun. A little separation does wonders.

Mel – hope you had a great Wednesday. By the time you read this, it will be Thursday for you!

Lugene – you sure are busy. DS is thinking about going into Law Enforcement.

NJJAZZ – I’m very impressed – a bike ride and a run! Go girl!

Wilson – love your profile picture. Do you live right in Duluth or outside of the city?

Lois – isn’t it nice to see the sun 2 days in a row!!! Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher though.

DD has her last league soccer game of the season before playoffs. Really hope they win. If they lose, they get moved down to a lower league for next year. Don’t know what is going to happen to her team – afraid it is going to dissolve.

Can’t wait to go to the cabin this weekend. We didn’t get go last year. And have 5 days off of work!!

Have a great evening everyone!!

Good Afternoon to everyone. So far to good have stepped up my exercise routine and got back to reading in the Spark Book and hopefully I will see some results soon. My attitude has improved the past two days as we have had sunshine, beautiful sunshine,

Great day in the morning, the landscaping project has been approved and should be starting within the next couple of weeks. Our building board approved the $22,000 and will even going higher up to $30,000 if necessary. The HOA board (Homeowners Association which consists of the six buildings) has also agreed to come on board for $9,500. It has been a long time in coming, but I am ecstatic as I have been trying to accomplish this for the past several years

NJJAZZ, HGTV is one of my favorite shows. I want them to come and redo my condo from top to bottom. I have been here for 37 years - painted twice, recarpeted once and just a couple years ago got new kitchen cupboard doors and counter tops. I think it is about time and would love to have David bring a fun and funky interior to my condo. Divine Design woud't be too bad either (in my dreams)..

Closing for now to get some steps in and listen to the new book on tape. Hope everyone is have a good day. emoticon emoticon

stopping by to say hello to everyone and catch up on the posts. Im hoping to get a 9 mile bike irde in this morning and then a 4 mile run in tonite. In between those 2 things is some time in the hospital with my friend who had hip replacement surgery yesterday. WHEW ----------- tough operation but I understand the recovery is hard too.

Im finishing up a bedroom makeover on my daughters room this week. Next week I start on my own bedroom. I have taken out the kingsize bed - and replaced it with a full size. So much more room there now. I have to choose a room color because my room hasnt been painted in ages................. I want to do one of those inexpensive makeovers you see on the HGTV shows. I love watching those.
Enjoy your day everyone.....................

Debbie- too much rain here too! Our property is a "new" lot and needs some landscaping but this spring has not been conducive to that!

AuntieDarling- Curves was my number 1 helper for weight loss and jump starting my metabolism but there are none around here. I found Sparkpeople and have found tremendous success by reading the letters, blogs and watching videos...! You are fortunate to have both...:-)

LMMIMI- So understand wanting the patio plants to dry out...mine have had a rough spring.

Wilson- It will catch up with your boyfriend...hehehe! Then you will be a step ahead, understanding a lifestyle of healthy eating, etc. and you can sit back and grin at him!

Runningwater- I cannot imagine wanting rain...not this spring! We got all of yours and today looks overcast...once again!

Sandy- I CANNOT believe what the calendar is telling me! We celebrate Canada Day in a few days and you July 04! Enjoy your holiday!

Mary- Hard to track when you are on the move. What does your son want to specialize in?

Bonnie- Are Gracee and Elle grandchildren? I miss those moments- my oldest grandson who lives in MD will be 17 this fall and my youngest who lives in the Yukon was 11 in March. They are too far away. I guess that is why I look after everyone else's- I have a wellspring of love and care banked and need to express it somewhere.

Mel- My husband's doctor is a dear man but he really doesn't take seriously the impact of what he says to my husband. I love hubby dearly but he always falls back on the "doctor said". Thankfully this last weigh in at the doctor really meant something. DH is a funny sweet man who uses humor to mask his inner feelings. I track his calories for him as he is quite computer illiterate and it is hard for him to even eat all that is allowed! crazy!

I like your quote Mel- "Weakness of Attitude becomes Weakness of Character"- it is a slippery slope isn't it?

I am a bit concerned going into work today. The twins have been spewing a lot and are always a goopy mess. I really feel they are feeding them a way too much. I was left alone with them two days and "tested" my theory. I cut back on the amounts of formula and staggered their food. I have reflux also and know that it has been bothersome since a child- I went to the doctor at and the only way that I can manage it is by small frequent meals- I would be a "snacker" to some people. I fed the babies accordingly and I had a tsp. of spit up from one of them all day long! I didn't have to even change their beds or their clothing. They actually slept! The babies are still getting 24 oz plus with what I cut back on. They also get 4 feedings of solids. I recorded everything. The mother was afraid they may not sleep the night...we shall see. It wasn't that I was trying to over rule- I decided I cared more about the babies and their health then what the parents thought about me- which has been exceptional thus far.

Busy life I lead- I work at least 35 hrs a week, last night hosted a ladies bible study, decorate tonight after prayer meeting for a Grad Party I am doing on Sunday after evening service, have two appts for tomorrow evening as well as a couple coming to watch a movie and head to Moncton on July 01- OH CANADA! Day! eh? to see our son and his girlfriend for the long weekend. Next weekend I have a wedding cake to do and on Sunday a Baptismal party!

I had a long post today but you may not see much of me for the next week...phew!

my life time quote is- "Happiness is a journey, not a Destination!" and I "party through life"!

The "joy of the Lord is my strength".

Have a great Wednesday!

Hello everyone. I enjoyed reading all your posts today.

Lugene - I usually read all the posts, say hello or goodbye to everyone in general and comment on a few posts each day. Sometimes I comment on all, but it's a hard call trying to do it all the time. DH's doctor doesn't seem to know much of what he's talking about if DH has gained 50 pounds since a heart attack and then told he doesn't have to lose weight. Doesn't make any sense at all!! Oh wow, good for him with his efforts and joining Sparks. Yes it is great for the both of you.

Auntie - Oh so very well done girlfriend. I'm proud of you! You are so motivated and so on the right track. That was a great positive post. Oh Auntie, I just read your last post. Never mind, it's history now. Wake up, a new day, and refocus. Don't take guilt trips as they only lead to negative thoughts and that sometimes leads to munch, munch, munch time when it's not lunch, lunch, lunch time. Ugh!

Lois - I cracked up when I read 'for all those who have lost weight, I think I've found it'. Soooo funny!

Sandy - We'll definitely need some kitchen pics uploaded to your photo gallery when your beautiful new room is finished. The thing usually to say is: 'did you enjoy the trip', but that's really not very funny in your or DF's case. 4 miles, great job!

Mary - It's so hard to stay focussed when you're away with other folks for a few days. Just enjoy and try and eat healthy and exercise and get right back on track when you get home.

It's Wednesday so Spark on! And always remember that weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.

Read the posts, but too tired to answer. Have Gracee and Ellee today, tomorrow and Thurs. Decided to just bring them to my house this morning and they are spending the night. We will go back to their house sometime tomorrow, their dad does not get home until 6:30pm, so no hurry. they love to be here, and we had a great day. We all missed each other, since we were not together last week at all.

Think it was good for us, 'cause we really appreciated each other today.

they are sleeping, and I am about to get to bed myself.

God Bless my friends.

Hi all,

Yesterday DH and I took DS to visit another college. We went to Bemidji State in northern MN. It's one of the smallest colleges in the state. DS's high school has around 3,000 students and the college only has around 5,000. He didn't totally rule it out but he did say that he would like to go to a bigger school. He has 2 more on his list of places to visit.

We stopped at Lake Itasca on the way back. That is where the Missippi River starts. DH and DS walked across the Missippi River. It had been probably 25 years since I had been there. I guess someday I need to get to New Orleans to see the end of the river.

I have not been able to get back into tracking since I got back from my trip! This weekend we are going to my BIL's cabin for 4 or 5 days. I'm trying to pack some healthy food to take along but I know what is going to happen. When I get back, then I need to get re-focused!!

Lynn - so glad you made it to WI!

Happy sparking to everyone else. Keep moving and keep tracking!

Hard to believe June almost over. Yikes!

Good news today was that the subfloor will be in by friday and the ceiling will be stipled on the 5th. Then we go to painting walls andn woodwork and staining the 3 beams that go across our ceiling. Things moving along. Getting more excited by the day for the end of this and a beautiful new kitchen and great room.

Felt lilke a goofy kid today. Tripped over my own 2 feet and fell hard on my knees. Nothing broken, no swelling. Can walk just fine. It is sitting and getting up that hurts. Funny thing is my BF did the same thing over the last weekend, but she has artificial knees. She is really black and blue and making a doc appt.

Took DGD's to 2 play parks today and they still say we didn't do anything. If the wind dies down will do a beach day tomorrow. Have a stiff breeze out of the NW right now. Lake is rolling.

Have managed 4 miles (over 8000 steps) today. Getting really good with cooking meals on the grill and microwave. Had lemon pepper pork loin tonight with rice and a fruit salad. Thankfully, DH is liking these lighter meals. We both need to lose the weight and get more exercise.

Off to do some ironing. Catchup later. emoticon

RW- I received my DVD as well this week and it came at the same time I received a pedomiter I ordered. Now if that's not telling me something. Just have to figure out how to work the pedomiter and turn the dvd on and I'll be on a roll

Hi everybody, looks like you're all having some good times

I received my free DVD that I won on the log-in spin wheel from SparkPeople in the mail yesterday. Cardio Blast by coach Nicole. I haven't had a chance to play it yet but looking forward to it.
This morning we're finally getting a little rain that we so badly need. That's a good thing for us, it's been extremely dry.

If you're a "lurker" to this chat thread we would love to have you stop in and post once in awhile, please feel free to at any time.

BLAIR-GOOD LUCK WITH THE HUBBY JOINING YOU ON WEIGHT LOSS. IT MAKES IT EASIER IF YOU DO IT TOGETHER. I KNOW HERE MY BF EATS WHATEVER HE WANTS WHENEVER HE WANTS AND NEVER GAINS. IT IS HARD FOR ME WHEN HE EATS ICE CREAM EVERY NIGHT ALONG WITH POTATO CHIPS AND HE LOVES HIS CHOCOLATE KISSES! MEN ALSO HAVE A DIFFERENT METABELISM AND OFTEN LOSE TWICE AS FAST.

Look like finally we may have a beautiful sunny day. Hopefully my patio plants will start to dry out a little. Between all the rain and my neighbor thinking he was doing me a favor they have almost been drowned. Nothing much happening today other than trying to step up my exercise program. For all those who have lost weight, I think I found it. Wishing you all a wonderful day and/or evening wherever you are. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning all

Leclair- glad your hubby got on the band wagon with you. I think it's easier to change a life style when everyone in the family is doing it.

well last week I lost weight and inches according to curves but my scale tells me different so I'm not changing my ticker yet. I think I will install new batteries maybe my emoticon needs a tune up emoticon
I've been good tracking my food and my fitness. The food some days is really really good and the fitness is lower since i've stopped jazzersiseing.

I walk around the building I work in every morning for 10 min before work and on Friday I get a half hour lunch break so I walk 15 min around the building. Every day I've been also walking the dog for about 15 min which is a mile for me.

My angels have come to help me. Yesterday I received my Pedomiter and my SP work out dvd. So I think they are telling me to get on track and no excuses are accepted. I put on the pedomiter and walked and i don't think it is working right (operator error maybe) I walked a mile and it said I only took 107 steps. I think I need to find someone who can work them help me set it right. Today I took her for another walk for 30 min mile as my gd was with me and between the dog and her we walk slower.

Yesterday I went to a farmers market and since they didn't have any veggies yet I was proud of myself I didn't buy and pastry, ice cream or pizza I came home and ate a good supper.

well that is all the news for today. Now I have to go shopping for the weekend we are going to a luau on the 3rd and need to bring food. That day I know will be a hard day of eating right so I have to be really on target the rest of this week.

Take care

Back on track(ing) this morning. Worked out at gym yesterday. Gardening this morning. Probably more like playing in the mud with all of the rain we've had. Workshop this afternoon. Have a great day!

Up and running...I have to be to work earlier today as the doc and his wife took the older two boys camping and left the twins at home with me during the day and her sister overnight last night. She has to be in to work by 9 so I am there to relieve her by 8. If I know I have to be up earlier I find I am awake way way early. I have never needed an alarm clock and would love to know what it means to sleep in- not because I don't have opportunity but I guess I am what you call hyper and nosy and afraid I might miss something by sleeping in.

Sandi- hard times when you have to go through the death of a loved one...so very sad! I pray that God will comfort you and yours during these days.

Always afraid to address anyone by name for fear of missing someone or getting things wrong. I am a Newbie here.

When I started Sparkpeople I was so impressed and surprised that I had missed out on such a wonderful opportunity as this site! I have told several friends and a few have joined. My husband needed to get on the band wagon too but I am not his mother and refuse to do anymore for him than to encourage! He would like me to portion it all out and wag my finger at him when he doesn't do so well. It ain't gonna happen... emoticon !! He had a heart attack at 47 and at 56 weighs in a good 50 pounds heavier. I do blame the regime of meds partially and a less than active lifestyle. His doctor is a tad on the robust size and since hubby's stress test is always impressive told him he did not have to lose weight! WHAT?? Now there was my partner in encouragement gone...

Hubby is not happy with himself through all of this so figured that he would try the old Slimfast. He headed to the doctor a month later for his yearly checkup sure he was slimmer faster and lo and behold- he had gained 20 lbs since last year! Still no encouragement to slim down from the old Doc. Well when he saw how quickly I lost he determined that maybe he would give it a try. No tracking, no drinking water, no eating fruit...hehehe! Three weeks later and 6 lbs down he is now tracking, drinking water and eating fruit! We just started him here this week and are counting the calories. Weighing in yesterday morning he found he had lost closer to 9 pounds! Yay!

We have been married 39 years this September and I really want to keep him around...so this is great!

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday! Life is good...

Hi all - A very sad morning at the funeral of my husband's cousin. He was only 67 and developed lung cancer as a result of dealing with asbestos on his job as a contractor.
Mel - thanks for the rose - it came at just the right time.

Hi All,

I made it to Racine, WI. My friend and I drove here in 2 days (8-9 hours a day). We didn't have any bad weather and we didn't even get lost! I am staying at my dh's apt and tomorrow we close on the new house. The moving truck will be here early Wed to move us in. All is going very well.

I read all the posts so I know what is going on. Welcome to the new people.

I should be back online Thurs so I will write more then.

I am afraid my eating has been out of control and I am sure I will pay for it when I unpack my scale. I am getting back on track today and moving forward.

Take care, Lynn

Morning all

Read all the post hard to keep up this weekend. So I'll just say HELLO to everyone.

Mel- thank you for the rose it meant alot.

the kids have moved out and now we just have to clean up after them. Not pleasant. My dh said that if they were real tenants they would not be getting their security money back..

It was rather pleasant this morning getting ready for work without trying to get around 2 other adults and a child. No screeming or tempertantrums to hear it was really different. Life is about change and this change is happening for us. We will get used to it and adapt.

I'm at work so I'll get back on the chat later today hopefully.

I just saw the news this morning after finally getting cable TV again after six months without. I heard about some problem is ND but didn't know what happened until I saw all the flooding. I feel so sorry for them. We lucked out here last winter and didn't have any flooding here in the Chehalis Valley. Flooding is terrifying!

My prayers go out to all who are dealing with bad weather and I hope everyone stays safe.

Debbie and Rosie I know what you mean. I too had a really bad weekend eating. And drinking. I did go in and track it though just to see how bad I was. Saturday at the street dance I was over by 1,000 calories! Sunday was a fish fry at my parents and wasn't quite that bad and I did get in a little exercise Sunday with the push mower. But you know what they say...Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on going.

Mel I was going through some blogs and I love your jokes!

Harrietbird are you having storms today? I just heard about some flash flooding going on in MN today but didn't quite catch where. I just know it is south of me.

I've been hiding for a week. I had a really bad eating weekend a week ago and that new weight loss just poofed back on! So aggravated I stopped tracking all together. Took a week of pity party time and I'm back to tracking today. Off to the gym this morning. I'm happy to see that many of your weight trackers gadgets just keep going down. Yeah for all you. Keep on tracking!

Lugene - I had you written down as Lou but I love the name Lugene. New Brunswick, cool! You are the only person I know from there and you're probably further away from me than any other Spark person in Canada and America.

Brenda - Sunday seems a strange day for cable installation, but wasn't done anyway. You had a good exercise carting the milk and then walking 6 blocks as well. I hope your Monday is happy. Oh, just read your latest post and yes, you're a happy camper. All good then.

Kathy - 1.5 minutes slower wasn't too bad. At least you finished the race. What does :-/ mean. I thought I knew smileys, emoticons, and acronyms most used but can't work that one out at all.

Bonnie - I like that - 'knock wood'. Short, and to the point.

Sandy - You surely had a day that left you with a feeling of satisfaction on completing so much in your garden and still managing to do 8,000 steps. I'm impressed! Luck at the dentist's tomorrow.

Sandi - So sad about DH's cousin. Enjoy your lovely monitor.

Wilson - Lol, Sparking can easily become a full time occupation.

All this talk about gallons of milk, so I found out that there is 4.57 litres in a gallon and went out to the laundry to measure a gallon using water to see how heavy it feels. DH comes out and asks what I'm doing and promptly informs me that water is lighter than milk. So, back to the drawing board (name of Google) and find that yes Kathy, milk weighs 8.6 pounds and yes DH, water weighs 8.35 pounds. DH never uses milk and I use a bit of made up (powdered) skim milk on my brekkie porridge, so I guess I'll have to wait until I go to the supermarket and lift 4 and a half litres at the one time to see what all the fuss is about.

It's Monday so Spark On! And always remember happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.

Yep, I'm watching movies. LOL "One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest" is on at the moment. I don't know the name of the first one I watched because I found it right after it started and don't know where the schedule is yet. Mr. Cableman was very nice. His name is Scott. He got here just before 2 so I am now a happy camper.

I'm glad to know that my scale is pretty accurate but that means I weight .1 pound more. LOL

Hello all - a really busy day today. Went out to breakfast and food shopping with my husband, Jim. The we went food shopping and on to a discount store to look for a new computer monitor - mine has been flickering like a strobe light. My husband picked out a 27 inch monitor, which it turns out was a little big for my desk. Thank goodness Jim is extremely handy. He so far has taken apart the top of my desk and is rebuilding it so the monitor will fit below the built in shelves. And I LOVE this new monitor.
On a sad note, we had to go to the wake of my husband's cousin who passed away from lung cancer. It was really rough. Tomorrow is the funeral.

What a wonderful day it was. Weather was great so I spent the day in the garden. Pulling weeds, planting flowers, trimming bushes. Still have a tone of stuff to do out there but 3 hours was about all my knees and hands could take.

Did manage to get in over 8000 steps so far today.

Kathy: Congrats on the 5K. And hope your new private practice is a success.

Funny how a gal. of milk can way so much. Will think of that as a strength exercise from now on.

So tired, can hardly keep my eyes open. Will be early to bed tonight as I start another week with 3 DGD's to keep an eye on. And I have a detist appt. monday afternoon. Finally get that crown put on. Will be doing something soft for dinner and a fruit salad.

Have a great week all. Will check in. emoticon

Thanks for the good words about my back. We would say "knock wood". How funny

Hope your allergies are better by now. Thanks for updating, I always like to know peoples names and where they are from. It is so fun to know that we are all someplace different, but can really communicate anyway! Love it.

I do understand when they make a mistake, and appreciate when they make an admission, and a bit of money is nice too, and apologise, but it is difficult to get over the feelings. I am impressed that you used them to do yourself good! Great job.

KATHY

I think you did a great job in the race. Finishing is all important, your time was not much less than last year. Congratulations.

BRENDA

I hope you are not online right now because you are watching your new cable on your new TV!

Thanks for the info on the weight of the milk, guess I will have to buy two gallons and use them to exercise!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend to those of you who are not already having Monday, (MEL). and hope your Monday is great!

Brenda, I got curious and looked up how much a gallon of milk weighs-lol. Your scale was very close: a gallon weighs 8.6 pounds! ;-)

Kathy,

Congratulations on finishing the race! I'm sure you will be glad when all your classes will be over and you can get on with setting up your private practice. So many details to sort through but you will be successful!

I've kept busy re-arranging the kitchen cupboards this morning and the time is flying by so I am not sitting here waiting for Mr Cableman. I know it isn't even time to wait yet but I am not a very patient person.

I thought the milk weighed about ten pounds but then I don't know how accurate my scale is to weigh the milk because the configuration of the scale says to put heels in the space provided. Maybe if I had two gallons of milk to weigh I would find out. LOL Oh well, it doesn't matter. I am sure if I looked it up on the internet I could find out for certain.

Hi everyone!

Brenda, way to go on getting your frustrations out by exercising! You defintely got your workout in yesterday! I had no idea milk weighs that much! LOL No wonder I get pooped carrying two gallons up the stairs from outside, then up more stairs once inside!!

Mary, thanks for the good luck on getting going with my private practice!

Thanks to everyone for the group hug goodie! You guys are the bestest, for sure! Big hugs back at every one of you!!

I enjoyed my race this morning, but my time was not as good as last year's race. I expected that since I have not been running very much this summer. :-/ However, am ok with it-at least I finished it! I finished about 1.5 minutes slower than last year and walked some, too.

Ok, I better get moving on starting my paper for class on Tuesday. I hope to find energy to workout with weights some, too. I got in weight training and using my elliptical yesterday.

Happy Sunday,

I hope the cable guy shows up today. Friday I called Comcast to set up the appointment to get my new TV hooked up. I picked the package I wanted and Kelly told me the guy would arrive between 1 and 3 Saturday the 25th. I was really excited and I had the TV set up and the living room all cleared out of the empty boxes. I went down to the call box outside the front door to check if my name is on there yet. Well, it isn't so I wrote a post-it note and stuck it on the box so Mr. Cableman would be able to call me to get in the building. Then between 1 and 3 I kept going down the stairs and waiting, visiting with the ladies, coming back up to see if he'd called yet. One lady told me to call them because they guarantee the appointment time and if they don't show up, you get reimbursed. Well, by 3:15 I was really upset and I called. Christina told me the appointment was for today (Sunday)!! I did feel a little better when she told me that they will take $20 off the installation charge of $28 so now it will only cost me $8. But I was still pretty mad. I do not like incompetent people. When I tell someone I will do something at a certain time, I do it or at least call them to let them know what is going on. Kelly did not tell me to stay by the phone about a half hour before the appointment because Mr. Cableman will call me to confirm it but he didn't call anyway because if he had there would have been a message. Kelly dropped the ball. At this point I am really hungry so I eat cottage cheese and pineapple so I could walk down to the drugstore and get a gallon of milk to walk off some of my mad. I took a cloth bag to carry the milk home. It was a real workout dragging it up the hills, me being out of walking condition. I was only gone 20 minutes but it seemed like much longer. I got to the social room and collapsed in a chair to catch my breath. The ladies were playing cards so I sat and watched the game for a while. Then I came home and made dinner, played a few games on the laptop, still mad because I couldn't watch TV. At 8 I decided to go for another walk to let off steam. So I went up the hill to the road behind our building. It is quite steep. I ended up walking six square blocks. Going down was a little hairy because I could envision my self tripping and tumbling down the hill so I was very careful. LOL The old hospital is next door to us. It wasn't all that bad and by the time I got to the bottom, I'm thinking maybe I'll go further. NOT! Because by the time I got back here, I was done in. That was another 20 minute walk and I wasn't so tapped out afterwards. I did sleep a lot better. So I am going to do the walk a couple times everyday. I fretted off a half pound yesterday so some good came out of my waiting. LOL

So the conclusion to my tale of woe is that my horoscope for yesterday said that events would not be to my liking but it would work out for the best in the end and it was all true. LOL I weighed the gallon of milk and according to my scale it weighs 8.5 pounds. It felt much heavier!

I hope you all have a good day. I plan to.

Sunday Sunday... emoticon I thoroughly enjoy it! Today I don't have to teach my SS class as we are sitting in on the Adult Class for Baptismal instruction. There are three being baptized and several of mine haven't been so it will be good for them to gain understanding of what it means. Then church and lunch which I have to plan- yet. Seasonal allergies and a dark wet spring and summer thus far add to my lethargy today. Yesterday was busy busy with company but what a great visit!

Today I took Mel's advice and updated my Spark Page. I have trouble with my google chrome plugin crashing daily as I work through Spark People- anyone else? It is good to read about your progress and lives. Have a great Sunday!

Glad you had a lovely day and evening. We had pretty nice weather today as well.

KATHY

So good to hear what you are doing. Those 12.5 hr days have to be grueling. Sounds as though you are getting real satisfaction from the classes.

Looking forward to hearing more about your own practice.

Thank you for the concern for my back. Actually, feeling pretty good tonight.

Went to the Y again today and exercised and moved in the water for 30 minutes. Working hard not to work too hard and set myself back. Thinking that I might be really on the mend this time.

Had lunch at my cousin/aunt's house today with mom and some other family members and that was nice.

Basically a very good day. hope you all had the same!

HI all,

Good to see you again Kathy! Best of luck starting up your own practice.

Read everyone's posts - everyone is very busy.

Last night we finally had beautiful evening. Cooked hobo dinners on the bonfire, went for a walk with my neighbor and then relaxed with a nice drink by the fire. My backdoor neighbor came over and joined me for a bit. It was nice talking with her - haven't had a chance to to that for a long time.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi everyone! I sure have missed you guys! Life is busy but good. I am taking a class (can’t remember if I already told you all that) and have three more weeks left. It’s been pretty tough; I’ve had to change my work schedule (thank heavens we are allowed to flex!) so that I’m working until 9 pm twice a week. Those are 12.5 hour days-phew. I have class twice a week for 2.5 hours. The good thing is we have no tests or exams. Instead, we are required to do two papers a week. The papers just need to be between 1-3 pages long. A couple of mine have been longer than that. I have one due on Tuesday that was interesting to prepare: I had to interview a therapist who is in private practice, about their experience with setting up a private practice. I got some interesting ideas from the woman I interviewed. She is a former colleague of mine who is now working for our agency part time and has her private practice part time. I’ve learned a lot from this class about how to set up my own private practice-there’s a lot involved in getting it off the ground!
Tomorrow, I’m doing a 5k race called the Baltimore Women’s Classic. I did this one last year. Only women are allowed to run in it and there are about 3000 runners! It should be fun.
AuntieDarling-Congrats on winning a SP workout DVD!! That’s so cool! Which one did you win??
Bonnie-I’m sorry to read you are still dealing with back pain! I hope you get some relief soon..It’s so good to see you posting and thank you for your comment on me returning! Sorry to hear about all the construction noise you’ve had to endure for years! That’s a long time. :-/
Michele-How’s life in Tokyo??
Mel-You are such a supportive team member to all of us! Thank you for your constant support and encouragement!! I just noticed your weight ticker. You are doing so well with your weight loss progress-congratulations!! Sorry to hear you’ve had neck problems recently. Hope it is getting better. Mel, I just read your recent post about your life trials and tribulations. You’ve certainly had more than your share of woes. You amaze me with your strength and positive outlook on life! What an inspiration you are to all of us!!
Debbie-Congrats on your weight loss!! And a belated welcome to the team. Sounds like you are on a roll with your workouts and healthy eating habits!
Brenda-It sounds like you are settling into your new home well! Congrats on the weight loss you have accomplished!!
Sandi-Welcome to the team and I’m glad your oral surgeon is pleased with your progress. Sounds painful! I just had a crown put on recently and was told I need another one. Sigh. I’m hoping to hold off on the other one until next year. Will see….
RW-How wonderful that you all got to celebrate your mother’s 95th birthday! I hope you had a good visit with her.
Lynn-So you are finally moving! Wow…where does the time go? I’m sorry you are leaving my dear Charleston, but hope you love your new home. How is DH’s job going?
Lista-Congrats on the birth of your new granddaughter!! Glad to hear mother and baby are doing well.
Rosie-Good to hear from you again! Hope you can find some female companionship somehow….

Wilson-Welcome to the team!!

Good Afternoon Team. Thank goodness it was a Saturday morning coffee group, because if is another cloudy gloomy day. It was a good day. Little ones joined us today so there was not too much adult conversation,, but that was okay as we all need to visit the child in us once in a while. Not much going on today, a little reading and maybe a nap. Do have to do some more walking as I have only 2,500 steps so far today even with doing some grocery shopping. While walking I am listening to a good book on tape which does give me motivation to keep stepping.

I didn't get a call from the physical therapist yesterday, probably out of the office. Will contact with him on Monday and we will go from there. As for the missed wedding anniversary, thank you for your comments. As I said, it seems like a life time ago, but the memories are still there.

This decorating thing has gone on far too long. It is done and not going to change, so my feeling is live with it. There is never going to be any project when you live in a condo that everyone is going to be on board. I didn't care for some of it at first, but it kind of grows on you, As for the guest that left, I guess you have to do what you feel you have to do, so be it.
I have decided that I am not going to address it unless she does
.
Hope you are having a good weekend. Sending prayers for all and remember to give someone a smile and tell someone you love them emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds to me that where you live could become my most favorite place as well. Glad you love where you are.

I have twin nieces, they are now 35, and I take care of their children 3 days a week, but I can remember how much fun it was to have twins. How old are the boys you care for?

KATHY

so good to see your face! have missed you. Will be glad to hear what has been going on in your life!

MEL

Hope your Saturday was great. Mine is looking good, sunshine and cool temps. Pool still not opened, but still not warm enough anyway. Have never waited this long to get it open, and have never had weather all through June when I couldn't use it anyway.

LLRYA

Such a great bike ride. A couple of years ago, I bought myself a new bike, and was riding like crazy and loving it. Unfortunately, it was very bad for my back, so I have not been able to ride as much as that year. It was so joyous!

Went to the Y yesterday and gently moved in the water for about 20 minutes. had an adjustment with Dr Mike, and then a massage with Laurel. Am feeling pretty good today. Going to the Y again later, and working on keeping my back going in the right direction. If I continue to get better, I will be asking Dr Mike in a month or so if he thinks I can ride my bike a bit by then. After the year I had so much trouble, I bought a seat back, so can lean against it to keep me from leaning forward and causing the problems. LLrya you are making me really want to get on it!

SANDY

Glad to hear your DGD is doing better. This has been such a long and trying battle you all have been living. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless those kids.

LOIS

It really is amazing how fast the time has gone. I am sure that even after this time, your husband is on your mind. Sorry for you loss at such an early age.

Hope you hands get better.

I am a bit confused about the condo thing. Did you redecorate some way that the others did not like? What in the world could cause that many hard feelings?

WILSON

Hope you enjoyed your walk and your time in the garden.

RW

Thanks again for the cute joke!

Had a good day yesterday, and a nice time at the family graduation party.

Today, going to my cousin/aunt's home for a family get together. Then going to go over to the Y again.

Loving the sunshine today even if it is really not summer!

God Bless my friends!

Llyraca- I live in Oak Bay which is about 15 mins from the centre of St. Andrews. I work daily in St. Andrews and get to view its intense beauty and charm as I work with twin boys and walk them up and down the beautiful roads. I pass by the Algonquin 15 mins into my walk and can be downtown within 1/2 hr. Thursday I walked 6 km from home to the Market which is beside the Wharf. Blessed aren't I? I love the sea and we have just recently moved here from Moncton. My favorite spot in the world is in St. Andrews and on a good or bad day I get peace by just staring out into the vastness of sea and sky.

It is Saturday and thundering and lightning here...we have had a black dark spring but no tornadoes, earthquakes or devastation! Company coming today so before they hit I am going to do some cardio and make pizza crusts in case they stick around, then it will be chicken pesto pizza and a meat one...hard to track calories on the weekend but I really load the veggies on and am careful in my preparation.

Hope you all are having a great day!

Bonnie - Having a great day thanks. Hope your weekend will be the best.

RW - Thanks for the laugh. I really cracked up when I read that.

Lois - I hope you find out what is giving you hand problems. So much for book discussion then, but interesting reactions about the condo redecoration. Lol, I've never been called a hero before. I am humbled.

Sandy - Thanks for the kind words. I'm afraid divorce and custody can never be made 'normal' for anyone. It's so sad and just hope your grandie stays on top of it all. Your renos seem to have taken an age. When do you envisage normal living conditions, lol. Great your garden is doing well.

Llyra - Are you a bundle of energy or what!! A 20K pb bike ride and then off picking strawberries. You rock girlfriend!

I have read all your posts and hello to those I have not included above. Not that I don't think of you, it's just that I have tarried too long on SP, which is now a daily habit of mine.

It's Saturday so Spark On! And always remember that a positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

LBlair7 Do you really live in Saint Andrew's By the Sea? It has to be my favourite place in all of the eastern Provinces! I've been there twice in my life and loved it each time.

Today I rode my bike about 20 km. It's a regular part of my exercise routine, but I really wasn't 'feeling' it today. However, I knew I'd feel better after the ride, so I pushed myself to do it and get it over with. While I was riding I thought, this is taking too long. It has to be an hour and a half at least since I left. I'm not riding as hard as I usually go. Imagine my surprise when i checked my time and found I'd actually beaten myself by about 2 minutes!

I'm better than I thought!

I went picking strawberries today. We've had two days of rain and a lot of them had rotted on the vine, which was a shame and a waste. There were still plenty left worth picking and I had a great time filling my pail and my tummy. I hate leaving the patch when I can see all those luscious berries still left to pick, my pail is full, I CANNOT eat any more and it's starting to rain again.

Life's full of such terrible dilemmas, isn't it?

Llove,

Llyra

Mel: what a llife you have led. Agree with Bonnie. you truly are an inspiration. What strength and courage. Bless you, bless you, bless you! Hope your recovery continues on a steady pace.

RW: Thanks for the smile! You always have a good one.

LMMIMI: Memories. Still count my parents anniversaries as if they were still alive. Funny how those things creep up on you. As for your redecorating, Was it noted before you moved in that you had to have board approval before you did anything? What the hey? If they didn't like what you did they should have either kept their mouths shut or been polite and just said something nice anyway. Sometimes I really wonder.

DGD had nothing wrong with her from what the doc said. Think it may be stress related what with all the manuverings of her mother against her dad. This divorce and custody thing is starting to take its toll even though we are trying to make things as normal as possible. This mom is very bitter, money grubbing, and manipulative. She talkes the girls dad down something fierce. All i can do is what I do and a lot of praying.

Garage door fixed and only one more coat on the drywall before we can start stipling the ceiling and starte painting before the floor goes down. Then my lovely cabinets. Looks so different. Going from a tiny corner kitchen to a galley style with a 6.5 ft. island. Yippee!

Lynn: Are you on the move? Thought it was around this time you would be on your way north.

Where is Stevegolfdog? ANyone heard from him lately?

Congrats to those who have lost weight, and keep on trucking for those still working hard. Weekend will be nice around here so hope to get some of my yardwork doen and some more flowers planted. Veggies growing well.

Have a great evening all!

Good Morning Team! Having some issues with my hands. I have a call into the physical therapist I have seen before, and hopefully he can give me some advice or may have me come in and find out what is going on. Had a rather interesting book club last night. Not too much discussion about the book, but a lot about the redecorating of our condo. It is a done deal and not much that can be done about it, but there are those who do not want to let a sleeping dog lie. A member of our board is in our group and she spoke up saying she was uncomfortable with the discussion. I totally agreed with her and said that out of respect for her it show be tabled. One of the group all of a sudden got up and just walked out. Not really sure what or why, but the rest stayed and we had our coffee and dessert. Haven't decided if I am going to make a phone call or just let it be.

RW, love the joke! Finally we are having some sun shine.

Mel, what can i say other than you are my hero.

Hi, to my other posting friends. Need to clean up the kitchen and will check back later. emoticon emoticon

RW cute but very close to the truth. lol

It did rain again yesterday but, the sun has finally come to MN. That means I can get a walk in and maybe get into the garden later after it dries up a bit.

Good morning!! emoticon

We're finally getting some rain, I know that sounds strange to some of you that have been having lots of rain but here it's been very dry lately.
I have a little funny one today, it's a joke. "underware model, she wears it well"

When my wife had to rush to the hospital unexpectedly, she asked me to bring her a few items from home. One item on her list was "comfortable underwear."

Not sure what she considers comfortable, I asked, "How will I know which ones to pick?"

"Hold them up and imagine them on me," she answered. "If you smile, put them back."

love you , hugsss RW

Just wanted to congratulate you on your accomplishment. The 14 pound loss is great, but feeling better, and your wonderful attitude are the real wins!

MEL

Hope you are having a great day!

What a cluster of gems we have here at 50+. Thanks to all who read my story. Sometimes it's good to get things out in the open so that others understand your feelings a bit better. Your comments were noted and very much appreciated.

Tasmania's Winter solstice was on the 22nd June so the Earth has turned and the southern hemisphere is beginning the slow journey back towards the sun for longer and hopefully, warmer days. It's 2:30pm Friday and is 55 degrees at the moment so that's not too bad. Max's have been between 50 and 60 and minimums 35 - 41. My niece is in north-eastern Australia at the moment and she said (on facebook) it's now 69 degrees up there. Wow! No wonder so many Tasmanian's head north for the Winter.

Have a great Friday everyone and always remember that only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Hitting and missing again! Mel- your life has been tumultuous! It is good to share as it gives hope to others who may be going through something similar.

Today it was a beautiful day here in Eastern Canada...it started nicely too as I weighed in a full 14 pounds less then when I started 7 weeks ago. I will not meet my goal on time as when I set it I thought I weighed 6 lbs less than I actually did as I needed to purchase a new scale. So I have already met the amount I wanted to lose but not the weight...it really doesn't matter. It has been encouraging just to see that making the extra effort sped up my metabolism and as a result of tracking and exercising I am feeling so much better. Spark People is a great site! thanks!

Today I walked with the twins I babysit for- up and down the rolling hills of St. Andrews by the Sea- 6 km in 66 minutes, stopping to peruse the outdoor market. Tonight we had my father in law in for grilled souvlaki, steak, baby potatoes on the grill and corn on the cob in honor of Father's Day. We defer most Sunday happenings to a week day as Sunday is a busy day in and of itself. As I walked today I thought "my mom was a great grandmother by my age of 55!!" crazy huh?

Nice to read about your life, victories and struggles...keep up the good work!

Glad to hear you had a great vacation. Good weather too! What a plus. You certainly deserved a get away. Sorry about the garage door, but good to know that your project is progressing.

MEL

I have known that you were special since you joined us. Now I know how truly amazing you are.

God Bless and prayers that the best is yet to come. Prayers that your neck and back recover quickly, and your eyes keep improving.

Thank you for sharing. You are inspiring me to know that no matter what, there is a way around whatever the problem might be.

Had my hair done today and went to the grocery store. Got a little walking in at the store, so that was a bit of exercise today. Went to Meijers so I could get in some extra walking because it is so big.

Continuing to remind myself that I have not exercised for several months, so I must go slow and do it a little at a time, one day at a time. Working on holding back my natural tendency to do too much at once! So far so good.

Tomorrow, swim in the am, Dr Mike, then Massage with Laurel at 2:00pm. Graduation party at 6:00pm looking forward to it being a great day.

Wishing you all a wonderful evening and a lovely day tomorrow.

Just wanted to say hello! Got back yesterday from our lovely New England vacation. 5 days of funa dn food. Only gained 2 lbs! Even for all the walking we did (at least 3 miles a day). Took some tour trolleys around Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. Walked around Newport for 2 days and only took in 2 of the mansions. Tickets are good forever, so maybe we will get back up there to do a few more. Weather was excellent. Food was great!

Now back to the business of grandkids and renovation. Our garage door spring broke while we were gone so that has to get fixed, one GD has to go to doc's tomorrow possible kidney infection, and they are drywalling our great room. So everything is moving along. DS gave me another day off from the girls so getting my laundry done and grocery shopping. Going to a ballgame tonight for our Frontier League team. Hoping it stops raining by then. Really enjoy watching these kids play. Taking one GD with us.

Will catch up with all the posts. Welcome to any newbies that I have yet to meet. This is a great site.

Talk later. emoticon

Mel - Thanks so much for sharing. We have more in common than I realized . I just believe that yesterday is gone and I can't do anything to change it - tomorrow is not promised to us so I won't worry about problems that don't affect me yet - but today is a gift and that's why it's called the present.

I think most of us have been through the mill a time or two and our backs hurt from all the crosses we bare but I think you have more than most. It is all in our attitude how we cope with things--we can sit and have our little pitty parties or just get on with things. I have had my share of the parties so I choose to go forward. "Damn the torpedos--full speed ahead" is my new motto.

I have been debating with myself whether to share a bit of my story with you all. You know bits and pieces but thought I'd sort of put it together in some sort of order. Here goes:

Well starting way back when, with a poor choice for first husband. My mother died when I was 25 and I raised my 2 boys alone. My younger son had bi-polar disorder for 8 years before he took his own life at age 32.

Then I got breast cancer and went thru op., radiotherapy, etc. I take mini-chemo tablets until 2015 and then I will be out of remission. Radiotherapy caused mammoth troubles with my wrist. I think they zapped the wrong part of me, lol.

Then I got sciatica and lumbar degeneration plus chronic cluster headaches which I have a nerve block for every 6 months.

Then as if that wasn't enough I developed a macular hole in my left eye plus cataracts in both. Had eye op. at end of March this year and all good but the distortion will take until March next year to clear completely.

The recovery mode after eye op. was sit and lie face-down very still 24/7 for a week as the gas bubble in my eye had to settle in the hole or the op. would not be a success. This face down position caused pinched nerves in my neck which have been driving me nuts for nearly 3 months now.

I have PT weekly and do daily exercises and hopefully this will clear up in time. So I guess you could say I've been thru the mill a bit and losing weight and quitting smoking were my lifestyle choices and are working for me to better my health.

dddd..Dat's all Folks!!!!

Have a great Thursday everyone and always remember that experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.

NJJAZZ – hope everything stayed dry for you and that you had a great time at lunch with your friend.

Rosie – enjoy your weekend away!

Welcome Wilson – from a fellow Minnesotan. There are a few of us that hang out here.

Sandi – glad your computer was able to be revived

Bonnie – sounds like your weather is a lot like ours has been. I’m very tired of rain. DD told me one day that I am pale. When can I get out in the sun? Seems like the only time it is out is when I’m at work.

Llyra – you must be very proud of your DD

Lois – enjoy your book club

Spent another evening watching DD play soccer in the rain. So tired of all the rain but I guess it could be worse. Those poor people in Minot, ND. And then you have the people in the South that are dying for some rain. We'll gladly send some their way!!

Week's half over. Looking forward to a quiet weekend. Have a graduation party to go to but other than that no plans. We will probably need to work on the basement some more.

Have a great evening!!

Just happened to think, my friend that I was with this evening is a published author. Not sure the kind of books you read, but hers are a bit like Janet Evanovich, with her own little twist.

If you all are interested, you can find her books in many libraries, on Ebay, etc. Her pen name is Nina Wright, and she has written a series about a character called Whiskey Mattimoe who is a real estate agent in a small town on the Northern coast of Lake Michigan. Whiskey has an afghan hound who is always causing problems, an 8 year old neighbor, an ex husband, and all of the characters in a small town. They are murder mysteries basically with lots of fun folks.

The first book is called "Whiskey on the Rocks". At least I think it is the first.

She has also written 2 books that are a about teenagers with "special" skills. I enjoyed those two as well.

Just a thought!

Congrats on your daughters graduation. Also the fact that she is already employed. that is a huge accomplishment in this economy. I know you are feeling so much joy!

LMIMI

Enjoy your book club tomorrow evening. I am an avid reader, but have never belonged to a book club. I guess it just never fit into my life somehow! I am sure it is fun.

Our power did come back on last night about 11:00pm, so I did get a good night's sleep.

Went to the Y and exercised and swam a little bit in the pool for about 20 minutes. Dr Mike said I could begin a little at a time last week. However, the fact that I have been so inactive for the last few months, kept me from moving myself until today. Hoping to find my routine again soon. Having to remind myself constantly that I can not go back to my old routine as I am not fit enough at this time. Sometimes in the past, I have done that and then paid the price with more back pain. NOT this time. Went to Dr Mike for an adjustment and he was pleased that my back moved so easily. Went to dinner with my friend Nancy, and then stopped at her house for a visit.

Back is sore, but not bad, so am just sitting on my ice packs for awhile.

Have a nice evening and a great day tomorrow.

The weather here is pretty crazy, but it appears that is true for pretty much the rest of the country. Nothing special going on here other than it is another cloudy and rainy day. Got the fixings for the Key Lime Pie that I am serving for the book club tomorrow evening. I will probably make this evening as it need to be refrigerated.

Welcome Wilson - this is a great team.

Rosie, a date weekend sounds pretty good.

Bonnie, it is rather nerve racking when the power goes out. Everything we do nowadays depends on it.. Hope it comes on soon so you can stay at home.

Sandi, I understand the frustration with the computer. Mine has become such a part of my life, that I am lost when there are problems. I am have couple friends who do not want to have anything to do with computers, but I tell them they just don't know what they are missing. They say You can't teach an old dog new tricks and I say Baloney.

Signing off for now - have a great time wherever you are or whatever you are doing. emoticon emoticon

Wow! Wednesday already! Where did Tuesday go? Oh, yeah! I sleep-walked through most of it!

Monday was a busy day. My husband and I spent most of the day in Toronto watching our youngest daughter graduate university. We're so proud! Doubly so since she is already employed (free lance, but employed) in the profession of her choice. She's going places!

However, a busy day one day usually means the next day is a total bust because we're both tired and trying to recover from all the activity the day before. I managed to get in a nice long walk, but didn't accomplish much else yesterday. Oh, well. Not like the dishes are going anywhere until I get to them!

Today would be a perfect day to get out and bike, except it's raining and i hate riding in the rain. I may be going hiking tonight, but the original goal was to see the sunset. Not gonna happen! Sky is overcast and predicted to remain so for the rest of the week. Rats. We may still go hiking, but without the grand finale.

It's good to see new people on the list. Welcome! Have fun here with the rest of us.

My prayers and heart go out to all who suffer from chronic conditions and pain. I don't have them myself, but I live with someone who does. It is more than trying , at times, yet he puts on a good face and laughs at most of what he must go through. I hope you all can find what will get you through this night.

Be strong!

Llove,

Llyra

Welcome to our team. We enjoy and encourage each other as much as we are able. We talk about any and everything. I love the every day sharing of sorrows, joys, and just every day stuff!

We are very glad to have you with us.

SANDI
Got to love the young people and their knowledge of computers and such. My cousin's grandson helped me out a few weeks ago, and now he is my go to guy!

NJ

You may be having your lunch even as I type! Know you are having a good time. Enjoy.

Hope you are enjoying your day at the shore. I am telling the rain to wait for you to be done, How successful have I been?

ROSIE

Enjoy your time away. Wonderful that you and DH have such a strong bond. Hoping the two of you can get home very soon.

MEL

I am sure you are right, but personally, I am pretty tired of being tried! Suspect you might be too.

Feel better my dear.

MARY

Hope that your weather is better today, or gets that way soon. Hot and humid here. Might rain again today.

We had tornado watches around us last night. Was at the theater under a tent for our picnic when the heavens opened up! Had actually finished eating and were having the yearly meeting when it finally got too bad and we all ran into the theater to finish the night. We had a good time, and lots of laughs for having the wind blow the water into the tent, etc. It was a good tent, and it actually allowed us to stay out much longer than I would have thought.

Came home and pulled into the driveway and rolled down the window and talked to the neighbor that I have a side by side drive with. Kept talking and clicking the garage door opener not being able to figure out why it wouldn't open. Then my neighbor, Carrie, pointed out the obvious, we had no electricity. Talk about walking around with my head in the clouds. Had a pretty good laugh at myself. Went over the Riteaid on the corner, of course they had to power either, so had to dig up enough cash to buy myself a new booklignt. Came home, finished my book, and about 11:00pm the power came back on. Lucky me, I could sleep with my cpap. Had a good nights sleep also.

Called this morning to the lady who takes care of my supplies and inquired about a back up battery for the cpap. They cost at least $600.00. Guess I will be going to my mom's house for the night if we are out of power overnight. Have been pretty lucky, if we do lose power, they seem to get it back on with in a very reasonable amount of time. Last night it was 3 hours.

Going to get up and go to the Y and get into the pool for a 10 to 15 minutes this afternoon. Am still having trouble with my right s/i joint, and the sciatica down my right leg, but have to begin somewhere! Just have to keep reminding myself that I really am better.

Have a great day my friends.

Mel - I LOVE Elmo!
Wilson - Welcome! I haven't been here very long but this is fast becoming my favorite team!
NJazz - Enjoy the Jersey Shore! I'm sure it is just as nice as the beaches here in Southampton. And how nice to get together with old friends!

Computer went down yesterday afternoon. I was lost without it. Left several voicemail messages with my regular guy - never got a call back. Tried to get someone else I knew of - but he couldn't come till Sunday. As a last try I called my friend's son who does repairs as a side job. As you can see - job well done - and it cost a lot less than the others would have.
I am a happy camper!
