Hi everyone -

Just a quick note to say Hi! It's going to be a crazy week - going in to work early and working late. Lots to do this week before I'm gone all next week. Not enough hours in a day right now. Was really glad the weather cooperated when I got home because I really needed my nightly walk to destress. Feel much better now.

Lista - how often do you get to the Cities? Probably a weekend would work best - the next 3 weekends aren't good for me. Maybe after that - we could maybe meet for a walk and coffee or something.

Happy sparking everyone!!

Well, we can't decide whether we want heat, cool, or rain. It has been so muggly the last couple of days, but I am not going to complain. Always knew we would skip s season somewhere. We are right into summer weather, 90's and upper 80's.

I was cutting grass the other day and the flies were just awful. Afraid the mosquito season will be bad this year. And our midges (mayflies, junebugs, etc) have arrived. So that kind of eliminates sitting outside for awhile. Will use the screened porch if I feel the need.

With all the eating I have been doing, still maintaining 155. Still want to get to at least 145. Need more exercise I think. Need to get moving.

Hard to believe May is over. Time is truly flying and I don't think it is just age.

DH's company was swamped with no cooling calls today. Being in the heating & cooling business at this time of year is hectic, then we bought a company from someone who wanted to get out of this line of work really badly & didn't notify his customers making us look bad when we try to explain what is going on. Such a mess.

Sorry can't respond to everyones comments. Know evryone working hard toward their goals right?

We can do it!!!! Later emoticon

Hi everyone! I am getting a late start today and have much to do so this it really short. Just as I was typing this I had two little song birds perched on one of my plant hooks singing to me. I don't know what kind they are, but they have a beautiful song. Talk about a day brightener. Well, as I was saying short but sweet. Have a great rest of the day and/or evening - stay safe - and give someone a smile emoticon emoticon

Afternoon all

Doing a catch up.

Mel- your winter is our summer today its 84 degrees yesterday it hit 91. My friend in your area always brags of how warm she is in our winter. Need to send her a note on how warm we are now. Yes our Memorial Day is the same as your Remembrance Day. Our town has a parade to honor our soldiers past and present. I'm glad you went and got yourself something special for your anniversary of no smoking.

Njjazz- loved the porcubine story it's really so true it's scary

Diana- you are getting in A+ in your grandparent training

Lynn- congrats to the selling of your home. You were lucky it sold so fast. I hope your next place you land will be for awhile.

Jodie- put some on your spark page and we can then go there and look at them as long as you make us friends .

Bonnie- you have to build the ARK that is the only way to find it. Sorry for your cousin. It's horrible to think you can not rest and enjoy life and then this happens. It changes everything for him. I will keep him in my prayers.

Sandy- Gee RI is only 2 hours from me. Be sure to bring all weather cloths. It has been in the 90's over the weekend and today is in the 80's. We are really warming up here in NE

Brenda- moving will soon be over and you can sit back and rest and enjoy your new place

Janel10 - what part of Fl do you live. RW live down there as well

Kathy- yes I like the work OAK how abour " Therapy at Oak Center or Counseling at Oak Center. or you can just go with Oak Center specializing in Therapy and Counseling.
Either way you will do just fine. Or Oak Center Here to help you

My hubby threw out his knee last night so now he has to go to a surgeon. He needs a knee replacement and that means 10 -12 weeks our of work. UHG I'm working but make 8.95 an hour isn't going to help. I'm glad I have some savings to help muddle through. I'm not looking forward to this at all. It is going to be a long hard hot summer.

Massachusetts If you can't change your circumstances, change the way you look at them.

MEL- I'm telling your husband how tricky you are with his food. Haha. Doesn't cooking flax seed take away it's goodness?
Welcome to the newbies. All I have to say is keep track of your caloric intake and keep it within sparkpeople's suggested range and you will lose weight.
I practiced bowling today with a group of seniors and went to have lunch. It was fun and my 2nd game was a 238. The other two were just OK. I was giving instruction to a couple of the bowlers and sort of lost my concentration and let up a little. No worries though. It was all about exercise today. Have a good day y'all. Michele - Enjoy the sunshine. Our first day of Winter is tomorrow, ugh!

NJJAZZ - Thanks for the praise. I won't be able to afford to buy smokes, lol, as have to pay off the sauna with my smoke money. Great incentive to stay smoke free. Hope your daughter can get her car dried out.

Steve - Thanks mate, yes I will enjoy it. I'm coming up to 5 months smoke free and it's only once in a blue moon that I get a pang for a cigarette, so all good. I think this, my 11th quit, is my final one.

Lois - The only thing I notice different now is that my food tastes better and I enjoy it more.

Bonnie - You're welcome to come visit anytime; but you probably want to enjoy your warmer weather first. If you came in your Winter then it would be our Summer, lol, ideal. Start saving your pennies girlfriend, I'm waiting.

Lista - Yes, a biiiiiiiggg reward, but Wow, am I looking forward to the installation early next week. DH gave me $500 to put towards it too so that's an extra Wow!

Mary - I am having spaghetti for dinner tonight too. Also if DH doesn't like something I usually find a way of mixing it in somewhere so he doesn't know he's eating it. Example is flaxmeal. When I make meat patties or rissoles (or whatever you guys call them), I mix a tablespoon of ground flaxmeal in the mince or ground meat (or whatever you guys call that), before making the patties and hey presto, more fibre (or fiber) in the patties. Geez, so many differences we have, it took a marathon sentence to say nothing much, lol.

Ksgal - Hello there. I'm from Tasmania, Australia.

I haven't read all the posts but time is my enemy today, so have a great Tuesday and will catch you all on the 1st day of June.

Thinking maybe RW hit it right on the nose! I like the sound of that too! Good luck being your own boss.

LYNN

Wishing great luck on your new adventure. I too am glad you are able to take us with you! You don't have time to work a job right now anyway, so their loss!

NY

What a great idea, and am sure you had a good time while getting in LOTS of exercise! You are the smart one, you are!

LOIS, MARY, and LISTA

How cool that you are close together, and then Lynn can come and see you all too. I am green with envy!

Hot and Humid here today. BUT, it did not rain, so that is a plus. Went to lunch with Diana, and then came home. Visited with a couple of my neighbors for a bit, and have been in ever since. Made some tuna fish and boiled egg salad and had a sandwich for dinner with some cherry tomatoes. Still a little hungry, may find something else in a bit.

Have to be at Angie's at 6:45am, but both Ellee and Max are off school as of last Friday, so don't have to get Max up and ready for school, can just let him and Bri sleep in. Chris will probably bring Ellee and Gracee over about 9:00am, and we will have a fun day together.

Next week, Ang won't have to be at school so early, the kids will be out at her school too. She is a high school counselor, so she works two weeks longer, and goes back two weeks earlier to do scheduling etc for next year. She shoud be done about June 17th, then I will have some extra time off for about 4 to 6 weeks. No money, but vacation! When she is off, she takes care of all 4 kids most of the time. I will have Gracee and Ellee a few days probably but much more flexible timing, etc.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Bonnie

kathy - I like the Oak reference.................. are you counseling or are you a therapist?
Not sure I know the difference - but whichever you are doing is that you should go with. Definitely the word center in there since youu never know when you may expand into something...... center just sounds like it has alot to offer.

Good luck in private practice................... how exciting for this next stage in life. make sure your shingle has an oak tree on it. LOL

Well I am finishing up this month with a pretty nice day. Got in my 10,000 steps, some yard work, and an 11 mile bike ride with my youngest daughter. actually we packed a dinner - and rode 5.5 miles to my Mom's house --------------- had dinner with her, visited for awhile and then rode home.

I tried a new home made weed killer - rock salt, dish detergant and water. I have some poison ivy to kill and saw this on line so thought I would try it. I dont plan to plant anything in this area - so I dont care if the salt soaks up into the soil - its actually more a rocky area - no soil =- just weeds.

.................
Will post the challenge for June in a little while. emoticon

Lynn - that would be a lot of fun to get together. Even though Lois, Lista and I live near each other, especially me and Lois, we haven't met. Lista - next time you get to the cities, maybe we'll have to see if we can meet somewhere. That's wild about your job - they knew you were going to be gone for 2 weeks and didn't say anything before you left??? Oh well, the timing worked out well.

Kathy - hope you had a great trip. Where did you go?? Either name sounds good to me.

Not sure why but I am just dragging today....maybe it's the heat. No ambition to do anything.

Short week this week at work but will be very busy. Lots to get done before I jump on the plan next Saturday. Wow!!! That has come fast.

Hi Y'all,

I am glad to be home! I got a call from my work and they said since I was gone over 2 weeks they had to terminate me. They said they wanted to rehire me but the paperwork takes a couple of days. I then told them that I was moving and that I was giving them my 3 week notice. They decided not to do the paperwork so I am done working as of today.

Lois, Lista and Mary....next time I am in the Twin Cities we will have to meet. I stay with a friend in Oakdale or my daughter in Centerville. After I move I will be only a 6 hour drive, so I plan on visiting my family a lot.

I am getting excited about my new adventure. The movers will be here on the 21st. I will have lots to do before then. I am a list maker and I have it all organized. The move will be so much easier than the last one. And the drive is only about 1000 miles (2 days maybe 3 if I am alone). I really like our new house. I will try to put some pics up on my spark page.
As always the best part of moving is I can take you all with me! Sometimes I think that is what keeps me sane.

Have a great week, Lynn

ps.....Kathy, I like names that tell you what kind of business it is and both of them do that. I think Oak Therapy sounds more professional. People sometimes think anyone can be a counselor but therapists need to be licensed.

Hi everyone! I just got back from a wonderful week long vacation! I will go back and read and comment on everyone's goings on, but wanted to ask for your input, please. I'm slowly but surely getting ready to set up shop with my private practice. Which name sounds better for the name of my new private practice, please? I am using the word “Oak” for two reasons: 1) we have a HUGE oak tree that is right next to our house; 2) to me, “oak” symbolizes strength and endurance. The names I’ve come up with are: Oak Therapy Center or Oak Counseling Center. If you don’t like either one, tell me why. I can take it. ;-)
Thanks!!

Steve - Lois, Lista and I all live fairly close to each other. The sun has finally come out but it sure is hot and humid now. We have been trying to mow our lawn all weekend but it hasn't stopped raining long enough. Hopefully tomorrow night.

Fortunately the rain held off last night so we were able to hang out on the deck with our guests. It was very intereting listening to them talk about the differences between here and Germany and India. Realized that as expensive as things are here, things are much more expensive in other places. The guy from Germany was able to buy 3 pairs of Levis for the price of one pair back there!!

I haven't been watching what I've been eating very well the last few days. Have some leftover cut up veggies from last night so will need to snack on those. Am making spaghetti tonight but am going to use Italian seasoned ground turkey instead of sausage. I'll have to see if my family even notices. The kids won't eat whole wheat things but I'm going to mix some whole wheat spaghetti with the regular.

Happy sparking everyone!!

So nice to have a long weekend. Trying to get the yard mowed this last week but it keeps raining. I get a section done and then it rains and the part I didn't mowed gets longer. Pretty soon I'm going to be able to bale the uncut grass! Sitting out on the front porch watching another storm roll in.
Yesterday went to my nephews graduduation party. That was fun to get together with family. Except then we all got food poisoning. What a way to loss weight! One I wouldn't recommend. We think it was from the pork they had.
Mel - Way to reward yourself. I would love a sauna. Good for you.
Bonnie - glad to hear you are up and about more. Icing any body part is hard to do. Brrrr. I had to ice my elbow for ahile and it helped but chilly!
Brenda - you have been working like crazy. Moving is hard work. When we moved into our house I told my husband I was never moving again. I will live here until I die!
Have a great rest of the day.

You all deserve whatever gift you can give yourself! I know that is a terribly difficult task. Have not had that particular problem myself, but have seen so many loved ones trying to quit, and how very tough it has been for them.

MEL

I want to come and live with you! Your own workout room, your new sauna, sounds wonderful, and I would get to see your lovely country as well! One can dream anyway!

Enjoy that Sauna. You deserve it!

Michelle,

Glad you have sunshine. We finally have sunshine, but because of having had so much rain, it is very humid. I usually don't mind this kind of weather after my pool is open, but this is too early. See, I can never be satisfied. Will be getting the pool opened in the next week or so. Looking forward to that.

NJ

What a bummer that your daughter's car is flooded! Hope it can get dried out quickly! Crazy crazy weather! Enjoy your day.

LOIS

Enjoy your day of comtemplation. I too enjoy those kinds of days. Am going to lunch with my friend Diana in a bit, and not doing much else the rest of the day.

NJ

Thanks to your dad as well. My father also, and so many others who help to keep us safe. I pray everyday that our country can find a way to bring the soilders home from Iraq and Afghanistan. God Bless all of them.

God bless you all as well! Enjoy your day whatever you are doing!

Good Morning Team! Another rainy cloudy day with threats of bad weather later on in the day. Guess I will just settle in - do some walking in the halls listening to my latest book on tape - catch up on my magazines and watch the rain. Today is a good day to reflect on what this day means, Memorial Day, I watch a program last night on TV honoring our armed forces. There were songs, tributes to those gone, to the families who are waiting and to the families that know their loved ones will not be coming back, and to all who are serving now. If only we could stop all these wars, and live and let live in this beautiful planet we call Earth. emoticon

Mel, the sauna sounds wonderful. What a gift!!! I gave up smoking about a 45 years ago, but I never got a present like that. What I did get was my sense of smell back, and eventually my lungs turned back to pink. Not sure where that pink idea came from, but it does sound good.

Closing for now, will check back later. Enjoy the day. emoticon emoticon

Hi all.
I have given myself a mammoth $AU4,000 present for not smoking. It is a 1-person Infrared Sauna and will be installed next week. Normally $AU5,450 the sauna people ran a special at one of our recent Festivals so it was too good to miss at the reduced price.

Sweat out toxins without the extreme humidity, improve blood circulation, weight loss, cardiovascular conditioning, pain relief from muscles and joints. Wow! Wow! I am so excited about this.

It comes with a CD (mp3) system, Color Therapy: mood enhancing lighting, air purifier, aromatherapy dish and oils and backrest. I am having it installed in my exercise room so when I finish my morning exercises I can just step into my own personal sauna afterwards. I can't wait.

Have a great sparkin' Monday everyone!

Welcome back. I wish I had a dollar for every time I have started over in my life. I would be rich! Just keep coming back. That is what I have to do anyway.

As far as rain, I would be more than glad to send you lots of it for at least a week or so. I have begun to look for an Ark around every corner. We again had tornado watches, warnings, and severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Not sure if there were actually any tornadoes, but there was at least some straight wind damage to a couple of neighborhoods in my area. Saw on the news that one street had some very big trees down, one right through one person's bedroom wall. Glad they were not sleeping at the time. Electric transformer also hit by a tree, cars a boat in a driveway, etc. Pretty sure no one was injured, but they sure had a mess.

MEL

It sounds very much as though out Memorial Day is about the same as your Remberance Day. Yes, we are honoring our fallen soldier's. And, showing respect for those who have served and are still serving.

Thank you for your thoughts on Rick. Actually, he is my cousin. Shirley is my cousin. I think when I wrote the note about him, I did not word it well. They are brother and sister. Got an email from him today. He is home, and feeling less pain, told me he will call and keep me posted when he is feeling better.

STEVE

Glad you are home to rest up, sounds like you worked worked too hard. We have to keep you in shape for bowling and golfing!

MICHELE

Wishing you some sunshine as well. I guess tomorrow we are going to have some sun, and for most of the week, but the temps are going from the 50's last week, to the high 80's and 90's this weekend and week. Crazy crazy weather all over I guess.

Lois, glad your garden is in. Good for you for walking.

BRENDA

Glad you are realizing that you do need to take a break for a bit. Glad that you have been getting help also. Am excited to have you move in to your new place on the 1st!

NJ

Hope your party was a good time. I had no other plans for the 4 day weekend, but had two parties today.

My cousin always has the family at her home on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Had that at 2:00pm. nice visit, too much food, you know the regular! Her son just bought a house, he just graduated from college, so he took a few of us over to see his new house. So happy to see him so proud of his accomplishment and his home.

Then tonight I had a going away party/wedding shower for a young girl, Fatima, whose family owns a restaurant. The family is from Jordan, and she is going on Tuesday back to Jordan with her family to be married, and then she and her new husband are moving to Dubai.(think I spelled that right). We will all miss her. It was a lovely party. They had greek salad and hummus, and of course cake. Also had a belly dancer, and Fatima, her mother, younger sister, father etc were dancing with her. That was very fun.

Had a good day.

My sinuses are going crazy right along with the barometric pressure, but I DON"T have a sinus infection, so a bit of medication takes care of that. Yea!

My back is pretty good. Still not doing much, and finding that icing my back is helping more than anything else. But, feeling as though in a week or two, I may be able to exercise once again. Feeling better because I am feeling better!

Have a great day, well, I guess since it is 1:20am where I am, Memorial Day is today!

Bonnie

Well, it looks like I will be out of here by Tuesday afternoon as we made a lot of progress today. Steve and Cameron took the rest of the furniture over and a lot more boxes this morning, then Judy and Kelcie went and rearranged the furniture again to make the sewing desk fit. I took lunch stuff over and we unpacked a lot of boxes to bring back here to refill. Then we worked another four hours filling them so the cart is loaded to take down to my car in the morning. Steve is coming back to get the bed to take to auction and will haul another load of boxes over for me before they leave for home. As I was unloading under the bathroom sink I started thinking again and decided I know who my real friends are now. It's Kelcie and Judy who came forward to help me with my move and I came in to tell Judy and she had just thought of the same thing. All these people here who claim to be our friends, really aren't. I thought someone would bring us lunch or something, but no. It's OK. I know my SP friends would be right here to help me in a flash. emoticon

I am actually very glad to be moving out of here. Of course, I don't know who or what I will find at the next place but it will be another adventure down this path. I can handle anything. A funny thing happened when we were leaving just before lunch time. A lady got out of the elevator and told me they have a potluck every Sunday but I was excused for the day because I was too busy. I just thought it was the cutest thing. She also said the the first one I go to, I don't have to take anything but I told her I will. Then Monday everyone eats lunch together and brings their own dishes and silverware. There are a lot of activities to do.

I'll check back as I can. I hope everyone is doing well.

Enjoy your freedom day tomorrow! Please honor our fallen and feel blessed for your freedoms you have.
We made it back from working on our shack in Surfside Beach, SC and it is now ready for our renters. I can't believe just how much little stuff that had to be done. It all added up to hours of work and going to stores buying stuff. I am hoping to have a nice visit to our shack to go to the beach and golf instead of all the work. Have a good night y'all and happy spark'n. Stevegolfbowlingdog

I've been away for quite a while, just wanted to say I'm back. This is a great weekend to start new things! I live in Florida, I don't think we've had rain in months. June starts the raining so I'll be glad when it starts. I think it got up to 90 today. At least it felt like it.

Hi to the team! A cloudy overcast day, but that makes for some good reading time. Just finished walking my condo hall will need to do it a couple more times today to at least get my goal steps in. Patio is all planted - just need some sun to help everything start growing.

Brenda, after this moving is all over, I hope you are going to do something wonderful for yourself. It is a good thing that you have people helping you as sometimes we do not acknowledge the fact that we are not super women.

Mel, will have to get my son to take the pictures as I don't have a camera and know how to get them on the computer.

Sandy, reading about the recital took me back many years to when my granddaughters were in dance. It was pleasure with some pain as sometimes the recitals went on for hours. The little ones are so darling.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe rest of the weekend. Keep smiling and tell someone you love them. emoticon emoticon

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in--in the midst of moving and I am exhausted. The rest of my furniture will be moved into the new place this morning and the extra goes to auction. Kelcie and Judy went over with me yesterday to help me arrange the furniture and kitchen. They are a big help. Tonight I will be camping out here sleeping on the floor in my sleeping bag, just me and my laptop because I can't sleep in the new place until the first.Several people have offerred me their spare room to sleep in but I have too much to do here packing up the odds and ends. Believe me, I have alot of them!! Richard came home after a week so I don't have to worry about his cat anymore. He paid me very well. I hired Judy and Beth to do my final cleaning because at this point I can't do it. I forgot that I am not Super Woman!

Back to work I go.

Jodie - Sorry it didn't work. Go to the 'help' forum and ask the question there. They have all the answers.

Bonnie - Hope your computer is OK now. Sorry to hear about your cousin's husband and I hope he recovers soon. Awful for him and your cousin. Great you did a walk. All good for you.

Lois - You should take some pics of your patio when you've finished and post them to your photo gallery so we can all see what it looks like.

Mary - Oh great, you have a long weekend. Why do you celebrate Memorial Day? Sounds a bit like our Remembrance Day when we remember all the fallen in our wars present and past. We have another long weekend in a fortnight to celebrate the Queen's Birthday. Weird to celebrate that in June because her birthday is really in April.

Sandy - Four to five year old ballerinas would be totally adorable. $500 on four lights is a bit much, yes.

DH and I had a total relax afternoon and watched the footy on telly. The team he barracks for was playing my team and my team won. Aussie Rules Football is a totally different game to American or Canadian football. Your blokes get padded up and have helmets whilst ours play in guerseys and shorts. Completely different rules too. Can't follow the American game at all. I think it's really strange, but then Americans would probably think AFL is strange for them.

Sunday dinner time now which makes it about 4 in the morning for most of you. Enjoy your Sunday, I did.

Hi all,

I too enjoyed sleeping in this morning. Met a frriend this morning for a walk and coffee. We try to do that as much as we can on Saturday mornings, just haven't been able to do it for a long time. She can't walk as fast or as far as me though. Just got back from a walk with my neighbor. It really turned out to be a beautiful night. Sure hope tomorrow night is nice. We have some people coming over and it would be really nice to be able to hang out on the deck and have a bonfire.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Well, I have not fallen off the face of the earth, though with all the rain we all could easily slip slide our way around.

Been soooo busy. Loking forward to vacation up in Rhode Island in 3 weeks.

Lynn: How lucky are you. Selling your house and finding another so quickly. Give you a lot of credit too to be moving again across country.

Steve: you sound busy. Just don't push too hard or it won't be just your hip bothering you. My family used to have a second home, we called it a cottage. It was at a beach about an hour away and we would go every weekend. Now I have a home on the lake and don't need to do that. Just walk out the back door. We are blessed.

NJazz: loved the story and the moral.

Went to DGD's dance recital last night. Enjoyed all the dancers, especially the 4-5 yr. old ballerinas. Just adorable.

Did laundry today and we went out looking at light fixtures for the new kitchen island and for over the dining table. Found something we both liked, but do not want to spend $500 on 4 lights. Know I can do better. Will be checking on line.

Really tired. Day went very fast. Loved sleeping in this morning and looking forward to 2 more days of peace. Love my GD's but need that time off.

GOD bless our service people this Memorial Day! emoticon

Sunshine to all of you! emoticon

Hi everyone! I am having a laid back day. This morning we had the coffee group at one of the younger member's home. We had a dutch breakfast (her husband is from Holland). Starbucks has been our meeting place for I can't even remember so it is really fun doing something different once in a while. After went to the cemetery to put flowers on my Mom's, a great aunt's and my husband's graves. Was going to wait for Memorial Day, but the weather doesn't sound like it will be a very nice day.

This morning on my way to coffee - there was a street about 15 blocks long (along a golf course) where there were American flags just about 6 feet apart and every third flag was the black one for those Missing in Action. All along the fence of the golf course they had small American flag almost every two inches. It was a very impressive sight and certainly reminded you to pray and honor all who serve and have served to protect us.

Came home finished planting the patio, took a nap and going to do nothing. It is really that kind a day for me. Wishing everyone a safe weekend and will catch up with everyone tomorrow. emoticon emoticon

You are becoming a very well traveled person! Hope you are doing ok. Thanks for the prayers for my cousin Rick. Still haven't talked to him, but Shirley said he was very groggy from the pain and the drugs, sent him an email to let him know I am thinking of him whenver he gets it!

MEL

Glad you had a lovely time at the wedding, and such a glorious day! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Finally warmed up enough that I could turn off the heat and open the windows. The temp says 73 degrees on my computer right now, but it is a bit hazy, and I guess we are once again going to get storms tonight. Geeez

Going to the Home Depot in a minute to pick up a couple of things. My back is sore, and a couple of the muscles have tightened up, hoping that some stretching will help with tha.

Have a party at my cousin's in the pm tomorrow, and then a wedding shower at 6:00pm tomorrow evening. Nothing else going on the whole weekend. Guess that is how it goes!

Will just enjoy tomorrow.

God Bless my friends and have a good rest of the weekend.

Short and sweet this evening. I've just come home from my nephew's wedding this afternoon (Saturday). Lovely sunny day. He was lucky with the weather as it's been cold and wet for days. He was married in our Botanical Gardens Conservatory. Lovely setting, lovely ceremony.

My day is finished while most of you are just starting. I will read the rest of the posts tomorrow. Have a great Saturday. I did.

Lois, glad you had a good day, and got a bargain as well!

I am actually looking around for the Ark. Cannot believe that the entire country is continuing to have so much rain, terrible and dangerous weather and all around miserable damp and cold.

Guess what they say is true, all you can do about the weather is complain!

My cousin Shirley called me last night to tell my that her brother, Rick, was in a bad car accident the night before. He was T boned by a Lawncare truck. Left leg broken so badly that he had surgery already yesterday morning, and will have to have another in a couple of weeks. He was on his way home from his retirement dinner.

Feel so badly for him. He lives in Cleveland, so I can't even go and see him. Please pray for his healing.

I seem to be doing a bit better today. Yea. Actually went to Costco with my friend Diana and walked, with a cart of course, quite a bit. When I had had my fill, went to the car and laid the seat back and waited for her to be done. Not feeling too bad now, so I am a bit encouraged. That is the most I have done in quite awhile. Thinking that the prayers are working.

God Bless my friends and have a wonderful weekend!

to everyone! Have been out and about most of the day. Attended a funeral of a husband of one the girls I grew up with about a thousand years ago. Have not been in touch for years so wasn't sure I would even be remembered. My husband and I spent many happy times with them and their children, but such a long time ago. Beside between a celebration of Earl's life, it was a reunion with many people from my past. I am so happy that I had seen the obituary in the paper yesterday and knew that I had to go today. Had good conversations and promised to keep in touch.

Later went to my favorite nursery to buy the last of the flowers for my patio. To my surprise after my purchase, my points entitled me to a $20 free purchase. Went back and got a beautiful Hibiscus. It is raining again so will finish the patio tomorrow (hopefully it will start raining sometime soon).

Time to think about feeding my face so will close for now - wishing everyone a pleasant evening and/or day wherever you are. emoticon emoticon

Thanks Mel Just goes to show the oceans of knowledge I am lacking! Guess I am just happy that I can do as well on the computer as I can!

At least I learned something new!

My computer, speaking of mysterious things, is running extremely slow, and has been for a while. Afraid it is just going to crash. Have been trying to run the programs that are supposed to get rid of the viruses etc, but afraid there is something in there just not working right.

So, if I disappear, it is probably because it crashed!

Have a good Friday my friends.

Jodie, Good luck getting your tracker right! Have a great day in spite of that!

Nope - still showing KG! but at least its showing the right KG - when I looked at it yesterday it showed the right number of lbs but had them listed as KG instead lol... I am not 150KG thankyouverymuch!!

Steve - Yes, 'condo' does sound pretty shady, but then 'shack' doesn't sound too bright either if you add 'up' to the end of it, lol. Only aborigines go walkabout, the rest of us go 'on the wallaby'.

NJJAZZ - Loved the moral to your story. BTW, they are called echidnas in Australia; oh, not the pricks, the porcupines, lol.

Diana - Sounds like a great plan, retiring to a lake for boating and swimming. Leave out the gardening (too much hard work) and it would be ideal, lol. Your campfires sound like fun. I never thought to be a nan but it happened 2-3/4 years ago. My sister's grandchildren are all adults now with the eldest at 24 yrs. Have faith, you'll get there eventually. Yep, keeping warm over here thanks.

Lois - We may be a world apart girlfriend but our hearts are in the same place.

Jodie - Try your start page, left hand side to My Goals and Progress, to Weight Progress. Underneath that is a hyperlink 'change' written in red. Click on that to get to Set Your Weight Goal and there is a combo box option, kilograms or pounds. Not sure, but this may change your tracker for you.

Bonnie - The trackers don't work like that. I bet your tracker says pounds to you but to me it says current weight 119 kg and goal 91 kg. It seems if you set your tracker to pounds, then you see everyone else's in pounds and if you set it to kilos, then everyone else is in kilos too. Blogs are different too. If you write a blog on Monday it will appear as Monday to you, but it will appear as Tuesday to me. Can be a trifle confusing at times. Yes condo is short for condominium and the word is North American.

Lynn - What great news selling the house in SC and already buying one in WI. You sure move it girlfriend. Lol, yes it would take a long time to read all the posts; it's a pretty active forum we have here. Best of luck with the move and your future in WI.

Lista - I am so pleased that your maladies are improving. You sure had a bad time of it all and I was really feeling for you, well, still am with that rotten poison ivy and tennis elbow. I am a watermelon addict too.

Have a great sparkin' Friday everyone! I did.

Glad that I caught you on the boards. I have missed you, and quite a bit of what is going on for many of you.
You have had quite a time of it with your elbow and your poison ivy. So glad to hear you are doing better, and finally are getting some relief. I am sure this has been a very difficult time for you.

Keep on getting better too!

LYNN

So glad to hear from you. You have really been through a whirlwind, in more ways than one. The last year of your life has been kind of crazy. But you deal with it all with such good humor and acceptance. Glad your house sold and that you have a new one.

I have been so very self involved with having a sinus infection, which is now gone, thank goodness, and all of the issues with my back that I have missed all of you so much.

I am trying to sit for shorter periods and keep up a bit better, so am glad I just checked in to find you two.

God Bless and help you both along!

Hey Lynn, I was just thinking about you. Haven't heard from you for awhile. That's right you were up here for awhile. Too bad you came when the twister hit. What a mess. Been a little chilly too. But today was beautiful. Great news on the quick sale of your house. WooHoo! Where in Wisconsin are you living again? Racine? I had thought it would have been fun to get together when you were here but then it slipped my mind. Maybe another time.

I am being more intentional on getting some walking in. Living in the country my only choice is to walk up and down our long driveway and hike around up the hill in the woods and around. Which is fine but I don't like running into snakes in the grass and the unevenness of that. But the dogs are liking it but a little confused. I get down to the end and turn around and do it again. My black lab this morning after about the 4th time of doing it just sat down, looked at me and thought "you are so stupid, you are going nowhere!" So I turned around and ran up the hill into the woods and he thought that was fun!

My tennis elbow is getting better but is really limiting me on what I can do. Not much gardening, any weight lifting or Wii tennis or bowling or boxing which is what hurt my arm. And it's my right arm so that stinks.

My poison ivy is finally getting better after it turned into a major allergic reaction. Ended up going to the doc and getting prednisone to knock it out. I feel better after just one pill, 5 more to go. I am a welted, red, itchy mess. It was going everywhere.

So glad it is getting into the fresh fruit, vegetable season. LOVE to see the watermelon in the stores. Did I mention I LOVE watermelon! Yummy!

HI Y'all,

I am still on vacation! My house in SC sold the day after I left to go to MN for a wedding. DH met me in MN and I rode back to WI with him and yesterday we bought a house here. I am thrilled that our house sold so quickly. I am excited about our new house. But, I will miss my friends in SC and I will be sad to leave my job. I have been gone over 2 weeks now and I miss my dog and just having a normal schedule. I haven't had computer access and I really miss all of you too. I have not been doing well with the eating and exercising. My clothes are tight and I can't wait to get on the scale when I get home....not! Sounds like you have all been busy. I read through all the posts (it took me hours). The weather here in WI is cold. Highs in the 40's, lots of rain and it feels like Nov. I was in Mpls when the tornadoes were there. It was about 5-7 miles away from where we were at my daughter's. Such wild weather. Very scary! DH is in PA today and tomorrow. I will be coming back to SC on Sat. It is always so good to go home. I will check in tomorrow. Goodnight my friends, Lynn

Jodie,

You must have figured it out, 'cause it says pounds now! Welcome, and good luck. Thanks for joining us!

Thanks to all for your concern about my family. Yes, this weather is frightening me, as I have family spread all around the country. The worst was a couple of years ago when the hurricane hit my brother and sil's 1895 built, home on Galveston Tx. They actually spent a year getting their home back together, and it was a terrible process. Thank God they had evacuated. Galveston will not be the same again. One of the things I would not have considered, but that did happen, is that all of the beautiful 100 year old live oak trees died. The sea water got into their root system and killed them. Terry says that many people have had sculptures carved out of them. Will be interested to see them next time I get there.

The real problem with them being gone, is that so much of the shade is gone too.

What can you do, can't contro the weather, but can be glad to have your loved ones.

My back is still very touchy, I am getting ready to go sit in my chair and put the moist heating on it. I alternate heat and ice.

Going to my chiropractor tomorrow, and then just going to take it easy again this weekend. I have been unable to exercise for so long now that I am really very weak in the muscles, But, I don't want to have gone through all of that, and then push myself and send my progress backward. Must use the lesson that is the hardest for me, patience!

Bless you all, and I am with you in spirit!

STEVE, I think the word condo, comes from condominium, doesn't it? Not that I know where that crazy word came from either!

NJ

Loved your little joke, was very heart warmed until the end made me LOL!

Thanks!

Bonnie

Good Morning everyone. Going to try to get done today, what I had planned on doing yesterday. So far a beautiful sunny but chilly day and I must keep motivated.

NJJAZZ, loved your story - got to watch out for those porcupines!

Mel, we are a world apart. We are waiting and watching for summer. Stay warm.

Diana, welcome back - this is a great team.

Steve, you have got to be a great friend spending all that time getting ready to others to use your condo. I hope you get enjoyment out of it too.

Bonnie, thankfully your family is safe. It is so hard to believe what is happening to the midsection of our country.

Mary, do you think we will every get summer?

Welcome for NEWMAC2011, and GWCGW, You have joined a really great team. emoticon emoticon

NJJAZZ, Thanks for the story. I have been so stressed at work so I have made the punch line my new mantra and emailed it to my co-worker and fellow sparkie Wetty1.

When I grew up in Northern Ontario, people had camps they went to on lakes and in the bush for a getaway - I guess different areas have different terms for their getaways. I don't have a shack, condo or camp....but I do want to retire to a lake so I can boat, swim, garden and hopefully one day have grandchildren to teach outdoor activities. My DH said he would go anywhere with me as long as he can still watch his Toronto Maple Leafs on TV and also have internet access. When my niece and nephew come over I usually make a campfire in the back and roast wiennies and marshmallows. I am in training for future grandparenthood.

Hope everyone has a great day. Mel - stay warm.

hoping no one is offended by this................... i just found it funny .....
Fable of the porcupine
It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

The moral of the story is: Just learn to live with the pricks in your life! emoticon

MOTLEM- You would go to your "Shack" when you go on your "Walk about"! Hahaha. Thanks for the education on condo. If you look at that word, I can only wonder where it came from. It sounds like a shady deal. Painting today and I should show a lot of progress on the "Shack" Y'all have a great day, Stevegolfbowlingdog

Steve - Condo is a North American word, did you know that? It sounds like you use yours as a getaway. That'd be fun having like a second home. Here we call our getaway second homes 'shacks'. My parents had a shack when I was a kid and it was great to getaway on weekends and holidays.

Bonnie - Thank heavens your family is safe from the tornadoes. Gee whiz, they were pretty close. How scary is that! That back is taking a long time to improve girlfriend.

Mary - Are you celebrating something special for a long weekend and does everyone get a day off work? Now I'm retired most long weekends are just ordinary days to me unless there is something special to celebrate of course.

It's really dark here already today and it's only 5:10 pm. Winter draws on again. Heat pumps a blarin' and my computer room heater is blowin'. Thermal underwear is on already and there's still 6 days before the first day of Winter... brrrr

Have a great sparkin' Thursday everyone!

Hi Everyone. I've been away from the site for so long, but have really missed reading everyone's updates. Just started tracking food again yesterday and have been catching up on your posts. Work has been hectic as we have been short staffed due to vacations since Mid March (mine included). I am back on vacation next week and hope to get some gardening and spring cleaning in as well. I have started reading the book Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and am enjoying it. Will make the effort to read while I am home next week.

Terrible weather all over and my thoughts are with everyone and their families. We have had too much rain this spring, but thankfully, no serious damage in my area.

Good night to everyone. I will check in with you again soon.

Good Wednesday Evening to everyone. Today I was really going to concentrate on doing some catch up on a few things around the house. It was a cloudy and gloomy day so I was trying really hard to get motivated. It didn't happen. A neighbor stopped in to chat. I really didn't chat much as much as just listen. Mega problems, which I cannot do anything to help other than listen. I am so truly blessed, because when I look around I see so many with so many problems mine are almost nonexistent. I hope everyone had a great day. Will read the posts and be in touch tomorrow. emoticon emoticon

Boy Bonnie, I'm glad your family members were not hit by a tornado. I can not believe what I've been seeing on TV. I'm thinking of buying one of those in ground tornado shelters. Scary stuff! We don't have a good place to go in our house. We get some good storms that are actually thought provoking. Have a good night y'all. Stevegolfbowlingdog.

Hi all,

Bonnie - that was too close to your family. Glad they are all safe. It has been a nasty year for tornadoes. One of our local weather guys says he's predicting this weather pattern will continue through June!

Got my walk in again tonight. I was thinking that I would not be able to because DD has a soccer game but then realized the game isn't until 8 so got one in after all.

Looking forward to a long weekend. Hoping the weather will cooperate.

Welcome to our new members!

thanks for the good thoughts everyone. My back was better Monday and Tuesday. Today it is stiff and sore. However it is not in the usual place, so if I do some stretching, and don't sit too long at the computer, I am hoping that will pass soon.

Had to get on Facebook and check in with my family in Oklahoma City. Found out this morning tha the tornado hit about 1/2 mile from them, so they are all fine. What a relief.

Thinking of you all, but have been on the computer too much today, so must get off.

God Bless and the best to you all, my constant friends, and now a couple of new folks. Will be glad when I can sit enough to get to know you all and to communicate better with the rest.

MEL- I like the name Surfside Beach as well. I did not bring my golf clubs nor my bowling balls nor a shag bag to practice outside the condo. :( This trip is all about get'ner ready for our friends to use it. We are very close and I can't wait to drive down here without loading the SUV to the brim with all the needed things. This trip, we brought down a XL twin bed mattress that made out back door stay open a bit. Well, gotta go to Lowes now to buy some paint a linoleum. I think I found another leak in the shower faucet last night. Welcome to condoworld. Have fun spark'n ya'll. Stevegolfbowlingdog.

Auntie - You are so right with the Zumba. I do 45-60 minutes each morning and in 6 days I've learnt 17 steps and 11 of them really well. But there are dozens of steps and this is going to take a long time. Yes, the better you know the dances, the more you can 'Zumba' and of course the more calories you burn. My hips have never moved so much in this lifetime, lol.

Steve - Enjoy yourself at the condo boyfriend. Surfside Beach is such a fun name and makes you feel as if you want to enjoy yourself by going there. Lol, there's a bit of devil in all of us, don't you think?

Melissa - Welcome and Wow! What an awesome goal. This is just the best team and congratulations with all your achievements to date. You sound like a real goer and you've done such a great job so far. Too cool!

RW - It doesn't take long after a vacation to feel as if you've never been away from home in the first place. The only trouble I find about being retired is that I never get a holiday because life is one big holiday, lol.

Mary - Whew, pizza and hamburgers! Nuff said girlfriend! That's why we're Sparkies, to keep ourselves and our SparkFriends honest, eh. Glad you said it was only for one weekend, lol.

Today I met a new Sparkie who has just moved to Tasmania. My other Sparkie friend and I meet for coffee and a chat every fortnight and today there were three of us. We had a really great time. Isn't it marvellous how people from all over the world have benefitted from Sparkguy's ingenuity.

Have a great sparkin' Wednesday everyone! I did!

Well, I made it to our condo and I'm exhausted and very tired. I bowled this morning with our senior group. I shot a 674 for my 3 games. I think I might be bowling better then when I stopped 18 years ago. Our condo is so hot and will take a long time for the AC to cool it off. Anyway, it's past midnight so good night y'all.
