Yay Brenda!! So glad things worked out for you and so quickly!

Steve congrats to you and your DW. Hope your hip feels better soon.

Bonnie hope those injections help your back

Another nice day here. We've been eating outside on the patio at work the last few days. Makes it hard to go back inside though.

Not much else new around here.

Talk later!

Sad story:

They found the mother who killed the little boy they found in Maine in the woods. It's really sad the family recognized the picture on the internet when they were just doing their normal surfing of the web. They found the mother at a rest stop in Chelmsford in her oldest son's truck(he is 23). He didn't know why she came to visit him but did. She told her mother by cell phone that they her and her 6yr old couldn't come to dinner because they both had a virus. My prayers are with the family and the child's father who didn't even know they were out of state(doesn't live with the mother). It's really sad.

Just stopped in quickly. Steve great work. Hope your hip is better.

BRENDA

That prayer was certainly answered in a timely fashion! Good news. I am very excited for you!

Have an appointment scheduled for 3:00pm tomorrow for injections in my back, and he can check my sinus infection and see if I am actually getting better.

Also going to ask about xrays and an MRI for my back. I have been avoiding that because of the cost, and I don't really think there is anything to be done, but it is time to at least see.

God Bless my friends. Thinking of you all always and missing you too. Need to go lay down and stetch out my back now!

Wow Brenda, that all sounds so great and so quick too. You are now the lucky duck, hahaha. emoticon
Y'all know I have a pain issue in my right hip area and it's very sore today. I had to bowl in that Senior Games Competition yesterday in the singles and then the mixed doubles with my DW.
I limped my way to the gold medal in the singles for my division. I'm in the youngest one of 55 to 59 age group. I shot 648 for my three games to win first place. We got a free donated lunch for everyone from The Olive Garden. That was very nice of them to do that for us. There were probably over 200 people participating so it's a big deal and goes National after the State finals. My wife and I ended up taking 3rd place bronze medal so she is in the State finals in Raleigh, NC, as well. Now she won't just have to watch me and root me on only. She is playing in it too. How cool is that. We have 9 of us in our bowling establishment who got medals and we are all going to the State finals in Sept. We are all excited to go. We have a great senior group at Bo's Entertainment Center. I'm glad I am not in the older group though because there were PBA professionals bowling in it. One guy, who was in his 70's, bowled a perfect "300" game and a 804 series. Those are the holy grail of bowling feats. Two others bowled over 700 series and one guy shot a 288 game and blew the perfect game on his 2nd shot in the 10th frame. I shot 608 my last series with my wife. I was in so much pain and limping along with my wife. She just got off of wearing her air boot they call it for he sprained ankle. She too was in pain. We were the perfect couple limping around together. I can't believe we both did so well. We are lucky ducks, hahaha. Happy Spark'n y'all,

Good Morning, or should I say 'Good Day'?

Great news! First of all, Mel, I received your card Monday and it is beautiful. Thank you so much, I will treasure it always. Bonnie, thank you for the prayers about me moving. Well, it is happening as I type. Monday I decided to go put in my application to get on the waiting list for low cost housing through HUD. Yesterday afternoon I took the application back and I immediately went to the top of the list because I pay more than 50% of my income for rent. A 90 year old lady just passed on and they are busy putting in new kitchen floor tile and a new carpet and cleaning.. It faces the hillside and the view is beautiful. It is a lovely place right in the shopping district in Chehalis, two miles away from here so I can walk all over the place! 39 units, secure building housing mostly an older generation of women who have a sewing circle down in the social room that I have all ready joined. There is a bus to take us shopping and on trips, air conditioning in every apartment, free high speed internet, a huge garden and we can have our own patch to plant. It is just unbelievable that I got in there. There's no dishwasher or disposal or microwave. Units are all one bedroom but have lots of storage. The laundry room is on the first floor. I bought the microwave that belonged to the woman. My rent will be $189 a month. Can you believe that? I barely got back here and told the manager that I am moving when the faxes started arriving with all my paper work for moving. Needless to say, I am like a cat on a hot tin roof, I cannot settle down and do anything right now. I called Steve last night and told him I need help and he said he will come and get all the excess furniture and take it to auction and we will split the money. I really have to downsize for this move but that is a good thing, don't you think?

The sun is out and it is a beautiful day. I am going to start cleaning out my closet and tossing most of the clothes that I can't/don't wear and packing up most of the sewing stuff to take to the new place to use for the projects. They need fabric and I have a lot that is just sitting idle. I have my work cut out for me.

I haven't read the posts yet but I hope everyone is doing well.

I would guess being from Eastern Canada I am one of the first ones out of bed in the morning due to Atlantic Standard Time! Another wet and drizzly morning here. Our two cats got out last night when company left so woke us before 6 demanding we let them in. I work for 8:30 a.m. so it gets me up early enough to exercise- see the cats were looking after my best interests. Now if they would help with portion control that would be great. Interesting reading everyone's day to day comments- have a great day!

Steve - So pleased you are doing well and enjoying your bowling. I hope your hip comes right and good luck tomorrow, or is it today now.

Lois - I'm about a third the way through 'Sarah's Key' and really enjoying it. I am so pleased being able to alter the font size on the kindle so I can read again.

Kathy - Happy anniversary and I'm sure you'll find your mojo soon.

RW - I really envy you the sunshine and the swimming.

Auntie - Yes, eye's going fine thanks. It will be around September before the distortion starts to correct itself, but I can still see reasonably out of it, distortion or no.

Everyone have a great Wednesday.

Welcome LBLAIR7 I was always a great starter too. By this time every year I would have given up. But not this year!!!! I have slowed down but still making progress. Summer has always been the hardest time of year for me to lose weight. This year my goal is to maintain through the summer.

Kathy happy anniversary! Enjoy your weekend.

RW have a great time. BTW Im LOVING the new nutrition tracker!!!

Lois I was thinking the other day that maybe this weekend Ill go buy some flowers. I think we are past all the cold weather now sure hope so!

Sandy Ive been putting off calling the dentist but I think I need to. Ive been having a dull ache for about a week now and it doesnt seem to be getting any better. Im thinking I should get it checked out and hopefully taken care of before I leave on my trip. That would be bad to be so far from home and have it get worse.

Just got back from a walk. It's been so nice here, finally. I can empathize with all of you experiencing the cold weather.

Have a great day!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Since DH's b-day is satruday, we are going out to dinner on friday.

Steve: Take it easy. Maybe you are trying to do too much. You don't need to be down with a bad hip with golfing season open. Maybe should go down to one bowling league. I'd love to have a 183 average. I usually bowl with the gkids and the bumpers. My own kids get a good laugh.

Electrician coming tomorrow morning to see what needs to be done and where outlets should be. I am having dinner with some friends from my old job weds. night. We try to get together every few months. Keep in touch by e-mail and phone.

My Vero Beach friend up for a couple of weeks and we have a dinner night set too. All this food.

Next monday is tooth pulling day and a crown getting in. My teeth very sensitive right now even with using Sensodyne . Chewing on one side of my mouth. Can't wait for this to get done. All this from eating popcorn. Won't stop me from eating it though.

Looking forward to vacation in June. Just to sleep in til 7 am. What a treat. This getting up at 5-5:30 every morning is the pits. I am not a morning person.

Been just llike Kathy, not consistent in exercise or logging in food. Just know I am not gaining any weight. I guess I should be satisfied.

Still raining here. emoticon Feels like winter. Only 47 with whatever the wind chill is. We have had 25 mph winds for 3 days. Weekend looking warmer, but too busy to work outside.

Have a good rest of the week . Will check in later. emoticon

Good evening. What a day - I am really wiped out. Went this morning and got my potting soil plus plants for the patio. Every years I tell myself that I don't have to plant everything all in one day, but of course, I do it anyway. I no sooner got it done and went back inside for a bit and my little resident chipmunk thought I had furnished lunch.. Well, I didn't and I have covered the dirt with cayenne pepper. I stopped at the store and got several shakers of it as chippy and his squirrel friend will have to have lunch someplace else. Met with a landscape person today to see just what we can do without a lot of cost prior to a major landscaping project next spring. Legs and back are really tired so I think it is the heating pad and just chilling for the rest of the day. Have to check out who is eliminated from Dancing with the Stars night and some reading time. Will check the post tomorrow. Wishing everyone good evening. emoticon emoticon

Hello everyone and welcome all the newbies

I've read all the post today from Thursday on, wow lots to catch up on

Bonnie- hope your feeling back to your old self

Mel- How's the eye coming along I'm guessing it's getting better as you are posting alot again

Sunnie- how are the headaches are they under control. Did my suggestions help you at all

Lynn- how's the move going

Steve- glad you are enjoying your bowling seems you get alot of enjoyment out of it

RW- glad you are having a great vacation.

We have another dreary day here and it's not suppose to get any better all week. It started on Sunday with rain and it's going to keep it up until Sunday. Not making for a good mood. My eating is out of control this week and I know it and that is the sad part.

Last Friday this house was in a complete tail spin that I left for work early. I could really feel my heart pounding that when I got to work I asked the Nurse to check my blood pressure(should not have done that) It was 147/92 she was not happy said she is going to watch it and told me to get it down somehow and fast. Well I don't see that happening until the end of June when my "little other family " moves out. Oh here i go again complaing. Not sure what i'll be able to chat about when they are gone and I have nothing to complain about.

Picked the the grandboys at 11:15 and brought them home for lunch 20 mile round trip then their mom picked them up. Now it's getting time to get the granddaughter off the bus. I just hope she is in a good mood I don't know if I can take another day of a 7yr old be nasty. She is very upset with having to move and she is taking it out on me. I guess I'll just have to suck it up until she understands the real reason.

Take care all off to the bus stop for me.

Good morning, folks! Hope all is well with you. It has been raining here this morning.

We are supposed to go to LA this coming weekend, but our plans look like they may be sidelined with the flooding going on there. My heart and prayers go out to all who are being affected by this flooding! :-( We may go to my brother's cabin in the mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway area instead. They do have a jacuzzi outside in the back, which will be very nice to have. :-) We were getting out of town to celebrate our upcoming 2nd anniversary! :-)

I'm doing terrible with exercising or keeping track of my foods. I've just gone in the complete opposite direction of the first two years on Spark People..hope I get my mojo back and get back on track soon.

Sandy happy birthday to you! Did you do anything special?
Lista, I also have had tennis elbow in both of my arms, esp. the left. IT took about 1 year to fully have function in the left arm. Had to go to physial therapy. Hope you feel better!
Steve, how was the bowing? That is something I definitely can't do anymore between my back & my elbows!
Lois, what a Busy Bee you have been! good for you! Hope you got to do something fun for yourself.
Had my semi-annual uterine cancer check & all went well. I made it home just in time before the thunderstorm hit!

Good evening. I have spent the day doing laundry (don't have machines in my unit - they are down the hall). They have added new machines at the cost of $.75 per load both washer and dryer. I have figured out a way to save some money by being able to use the dryer for two load of wash. I thought I was the only one that had figured that out - I was wrong several others do the same. Then there was ironing, working a little on the patio and once in a while just taking a break. All in all it has been a pretty good day. Now I am about ready to clean up the kitchen and then settle down to a good book. Bye for now - back at you tomorrow and check out everyone's post then. emoticon emoticon

Good evening everyone! My DW and I bowled in our first night of this new league that is sanctioned. We had a blast and won 6 points out of a possible 8, so we did well. I didn't bowl all that good for me, but still averaged 183. I guess that is a good thing getting a low average so when I bowl these handicap tournaments, hahaha. Believe me, I did not sandbag. I'm just sore and have a lot of pain in my right hip area. That's not good at all and we bowl in the morning in that Senior Games Competition. I bowl singles and mixed doubles. I hope I don't hurt myself. We will see. Anyway, y'all have a great spark'n night. Stevebowlinggolfdog

Howdy everyone.

Lou - I meant the 50+ members group is for both males and females. You wrote the 50+ womens group, was all, lol.

Bonnie - Luck with the shots and hope you get better soon.

Sandie - Happy Birthday girlfriend!! Hard for me to tell if your day is 16th or 17th May, but if it's the 17th then it's the same day as my hubbys. Have a great day.

Kathy - Glad the colonoscopy is out of the way. Enjoy your week.

Lista - Feel sorry for you with your arm. Been there done that and it's a slow old process getting the arm right again. Yes, you don't realise how much you need your bits and pieces until you lose the use of them, eh. I hope you get better soon.

Have a great sparkin' Tuesday all.

Yes Sandy! Have a wonderful birthday!! All these pains and sprains are NOT fun. Hoping you are feeling better soon.

It is raining again here in Eastern Canada but when you see the horrific weather across our great nation and the US- well we cannot complain!

HaPpY BiRtHdAy, Sandy!!!!! What a great day to have a birthday! Wishes for many, many more.

I am suffering from a really sore right arm. I think it's tennis elbow. Amazing what is difficult to do with this...shake hands, hold a cup of coffee, open a door, and forget about a lot of exercising. Been walking but end up holding my arm in place. Been taking ibuprofen but I think I'll start icing it and then maybe end up having to go to the doctor. Don't know what they'll do but it hurts. I think I injured it doing a Wii exercise game with boxing. Oh boy!

Bonnie - hope your back gets better soon. There is so much to do. No fun hurting.

Kathy - aren't colonoscopies fun. Love the comment about the stuff you have to do to prepare. I think the word "crap" was appropriate!!!

Sandy-I hope you had a wonderful birthday today!

Bonnie-Hope your back pain leaves you alone soon-you've sure been dealing with it long enough! :-/

Steve-It's so nice you and your wife are both interested in bowling and do the teams together. :-)

Lou-Welcome to our team!! :-)

My colonoscopy went as well as it could (I just HATE drinking that crap the night before!!). My GI specialist said I have a "spastic colon". I looked it up..heck, that could mean a lot of things. He does want to see me in 4 weeks, so.....

That's about it for now! I'll be getting back to my regular week this week. Hope it is much quieter! I did work yesterday-had a booth at a Deaf event, promoting our Deaf mental health services to the Deaf community. It went well, I thought. I even bought fresh flowers for my booth to perk it up and got lots of compliments on that. :-)

I just got back from a weekend doing College graduations. One was at Duke University. It was my niece and she is a real smarty pants, haha. She got a plaque put up in a hallway with her name on it in perpetuity for her special academia. I was very proud of her. The other was my nephew and he graduated at North Carolina State University and he already has a job as a teacher in his field. One was on Sat. and the other was today, Sunday. Then we drove the long ride back home. I'm exhausted and the food was way too much this weekend but boy was it all good. Hahaha. Have a good night y'all. Steve

Well, tomorrorw is my B-day and I will be 62. Yikes! Time just flew by.

Yesterday all my sons, DSIL, a dear freind and DH tore out the great room, kitchen and dining room in prep for new wiring, insulation and our new kitchen. We have literally moved into our downstairs family room. Have little kitchen set up, doing dishes in basement laundry tray and fridge still up in main room. So taking more stairs. We are using paper plates, but I hate that. More trash that way. Poor dog is confused.
I am excited for the new kitchen.

Next week full of DGD's, DD PT appts, evening activities and DH's B-day on Sat. Our 11 yr old DGD is in a play next weekend and have a baby shower too. Can't believe I haven't checked in with you all week.

Read all the posts and glad to see I am not the only soul with crummy weather. Managed to get the lawn cut yesterday too before the rains moved in again. And they say rain all week and chilly. Ugh!

Bonnie: so sorry you are so miserable. Will say a prayer the shot works. Just keep resting as best you can.

The rest of you keep up with tracking food,, can't wait to see the new tracker, and exercise as much as you can. emoticon We are doing this together.

Have a great week! emoticon Think sunny!

Good Evening everyone! Hope you have had a great Sunday and a good week coming up.

Bonnie, I hope the shots will give you some relief for you back pain.

Brenda, sorry to hear that you might have to move. It seems like every thing is going up in price, but our incomes stay the same. Downsizing is the pits. I moved from a three bedroom house with a finished basement to a one bedroom condo approximately 35 years ago. Hope it works out for you.

Mary 1, isn't it great that the sun finally found Minnesota. I was beginning to feel as if we had been abandon. Even gave me some incentive to clean up the patio. I have to laugh when you said you were going to be shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding and you DD had to be sure you got the right thing. I have a GD getting married this Saturday and have been though the dress issue with my DD.

Just stopping in to let you all know how much I miss you! Can't wait until my back gets better.

Dr Mike and I have decided that I need to go to my GP and have injections. Hoping I only need one or two, but we will do what is necessary. I am so sick of feeling crappy and being in pain, that I will have to do whatever is necessary!

BTW, just so you know, it is winter! Don't care what the calendar says, it is freezing cold, rainy and windy, and seems no end in sight.

Just so ya' know!

Showers mixed with sun breaks, thunder showers, mid 50's. Probably lots of water on the roads too. Next Thursday the sun is supposed to come out and be in the mid 60's. I just wish the weather would make up it's mind what season this is. Sitting here looking out at the wet pavement, I feel cold and want to turn on the heat but it is 72 in here.

I still haven't had a chance to read all the posts for the last week or so. I hope you all have a good day. I plan to start weeding out my apartment because I will no doubt be moving in the next few months. Check out my blog for further info if you'd like to know the specifics. Bummer. But I am a survivor and do what I have to do, plus I will save a couple hundred a month on rent down the line. I totally love my apartment but no way will I be able to pay $705 a month! It's been a fun ride here.

First time in 3 days been able to get in my walk outside. Dog really enjoyed it too.

Going shopping today for something to wear to my nephew's wedding in a month. DD said she would come along so she can tell me what NOT to get. 15 year olds can be sooooo helpful.

Enjoy your day!

Hi Ladies,

Thought I'd pop in and say emoticon

It has been sooooo unlike mid-May here (Colorado) today, I'm seriously wondering if I slept clear through to November!!!! It is chilly, damp, and gray...and we're told to expect snow tonight! emoticon
So much for the hubz's and my plans to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary (tomorrow) by going to the Botanic Gardens!!! I guess we'll just have to go and have a great brunch at our favorite eatery instead!!!

Good afternoon everyone. Another cold and rainy day, I don't think the sun knows where Minnesota is located. Had coffee with the ladies as usual it is Saturday. We didn't solve any problems other than decide who should win Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

After doing some sparking, I am going to settle down with a good book. Bye for now, smile and tell someone you love them. emoticon emoticon

Hi all,

Welcome Lou!!!

DD has a soccer tournament this weekend. Last night we just got sprinkled on a bit but this morning it rained the entire game. Been wearing my winter coat. This morning even wore the long underwear. It's the middle of May - we should be able to put that stuff away!!! She has another game at 6 tonight. Looks like we may dodge the rain but it will still be cold and windy. So far they won1 and lost 1. They must win tonight to have a chance for the championship game tomorrow. Bad of me to say, but in a way I hope they don't make the championship game. Then we have a free day tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Everyone!

Just checking in and trying to catch up with all the posts and newby's. I have been really busy or so it seems lately, then when I decide to play catch up, I can't get the pages to open. Internet Explorer has been temperamental lately.

There's a plant sale down the street sponsored by the master gardner's so I am going to wander down to see if they have an Aloe Vera plant.

Have a good weekend.

Bugzzy - I think most of us have experienced the 'trying to get back into it' feeling. Oh boy, you would indeed miss the gym in the apt building. I exercise at home and it doesn't take long to accumulate all the gear. Just start off small with skipping rope, hand weights, hula hoop, etc., then get maybe a stair walker or elliptical and/or a work bench and before you know it, you have your own home gym.

RW - Can't wait to try the new tracker out on Monday. Thanks for posting that information.

LBlair - Howdy Lou. Welcome and have a great weekend too. BTW, this team is unisex.

Lois - Yes, more often than not, tried and true is better.

My poor baby grandie fell off her bike and hit a retaining wall. She is now sporting a black eye.

DH and I are having a roast beef lunch with all the trimmings tomorrow cooked for us by DS; an early celebration of DH's birthday, so am looking forward to that.

Will probably catch up with y'all on Monday when we have our new tracker. emoticon

Have a great weekend everyone!

Evening everyone. This has been a very pleasant day..; Got a hair cut this morning. Met with one of the landscape committee and checked out some minor things we would like to dGood o as soon as possible. Had lunch with my friends that I volunteered with at Abbott Northwestern Hospital at noon. We went to a new restaurant - food was okay - but far to noisy for us old folks to enjoy. So much for trying some place new decision made to stay with our tried and true. Came home had a nap and then watched Oprah. Getting late so will be back tomorrow.

FYI.
Important E-Mail from SPARKGUY
Message: Hello Community Team Members

I'm back to give you a behind-the-scenes look at a major feature upgrade! On Monday we will launch a HUGE improvement to the Nutrition Tracker.

Highlights include:
* Everything for tracking foods will take place on one page that automatically updates as you move from one step to the next
* There are several other improvements to the process
* Overall, this makes tracking food much faster and easier
* For a short time period, you'll be able to choose to use the current method as well

I am testing the feature right now and really love it. Josh -- our Chief Technology Officer -- has been spening most of his time for the past few months building this improvement.

I can't wait for everyone to try this out on Monday!

As always, thanks so much for your support. I appreciate it. Have a great weekend!

SparkCheers!

Just stopping in to let you know I am alive. The sinus infection seems better, the back still hurts, and I am exhausted!

Actually did get more sleep last night so feeling more rested today.

WIll all tha is going on, my eating is not in control. Am planning on getting much restthis weekend, and then it is easier for me to resist the food. When my whole body is hurting, my head is full of stuff, and it aches, I am coughing all of the time, and I am tired, not so good!
Seems as though "this too shall pass" has b ecome my mantra, just holding on until it doesn!

God Bless and keep you my friends Miss you all!
