Happy Easter to you also. I just joined this team. I used to work at a "sit down" job also. I have founds that taking my lunch to work along with healthy snacks has helped me. Salads with lo -cal dressings are terrific.

Hello!!
Haven't been on this site in a long time. Forgot what great tools it has. I work night shift now and sit around too much, it's an acute psych unit. Don't know when to eat or what to eat.
Used to be on my feet for 8 hours or more during the days. I'm reading all the positive things people are saying, I need the motivation. Glad to be back.
Happy Easter to everyone...

Good THursday afternoon! No children today so ran my errands this morning. Expecting our kitchen cabinet guy around 1:30 to go over final decisions on my choices and get them ordered.
Hope to start ripping things out the middle of May. DH will be out of town the first week of may so that will give me time to pack up things we are not using. Getting excited that this will finally happen.

Have 25 for Easter dinner so have some furniture to move around to fit the extra tables. Stopped at local garden center and got some flowers for the table that I can plant outside later.
Got a nice pot of pansies for by the front door for sunny greeting even though it is still so cold. Steve and Lynn, package some of that warmth and mail it up north.

DS starting to go thru a bout of depression. Has been a rock thru all of the custody dealings but his ex just knows what buttons to push to rile him up. Trying to get into the docs for something to help and I reassured him he has plenty of support from family and his girls love him to death which is eveidenced in their greetings to him when he walks in the door. THey do not let go. We'll all help him cope.

DD doing well with her physical therapy and able to do a bit more for herself everyday. Always caution her not to push it. Do what the docs say.

Glad to see new faces and welcome back old friends. My motto is still "One Day at a TIme"
Lynn your new one is great too. Glad your DH happy so far with new job. Kind of hard being up in the air about moving again.

If I don't get back to all of you, Have a Happy Easter!

emoticon emoticon

Hope all of you going thru testing, get wonderful reports. Will Say an extra prayer.
Mel, you are typing really well for not being able to see so well or are you dictating to someone?

Later! emoticon emoticon

Good Morning everyone. Plan on going to Maundy Thursday services at noon today as I have another book club meeting tonight. Been invited to another wedding shower for my granddaughter so need to get out and get another gift. This one is in Madison, WI and thankfully my daughter-in-law will be driving. Found out that we will then go to Spooner, WI for a confirmation on Sunday. Lots of sitting, but I do really enjoy spending time with my daughter-in-law.

Mel, have you been given any time line as to when the sight will be clear? I can't imagine what you are going though.

Lyn, I love your new motto. It is great that your husband likes the new job and hope that it won't be too long before you will be joining him.

Bonnie, coming into the tornado season is really pretty scary. We have had some bad ones here in Minnesota and it is almost hard to believe the devastation. Stay safe. I read that article about diet rage. That has not been my problem, but driving tries my patience. I have a little bunch of silk violets sitting on the dash board of my car to remind me is chill out.

Steve, happy cleaning and great bowling!

Mary1, do you think we might see spring sometime soon?

Mary2, I hear what you are saying. Fortunately for me, I had a neighbor who was a handy man and would come and fix what was broken or tell me who to call. I had never paid bills so that was a new learning experience for me at that time. As I told you, I made so very good choices, but also some not so good. All in due time!

Have a great day and tell someone you love them.

Steve - Thanks mate. Happy bowling.

Lista - Melva is a Scottish word and means 'chief'. I've never heard of Belva or Lista, lol. With two thirds vision in left eye and looking straight ahead I see a black, wobbly bubble in the other third, but with right eye shut it's still all blurry. With head down I see a full round gas ball with black around the edges but with my right eye shut I can actually see a little through the sphere. With my head back I can't see anything through my left eye. The very best with your oncologist visit tomorrow. Wow, you'll be out of remission. Well done!

Lois - There doesn't seem to be many people who miss out on some sort of cancer these days. I've just received news that a friend of my has lymphoma. Ugh!

Oh gosh, I've read everyone else's posts but really have to rush off now as my visitors have arrived.

Have a great Thursday everyone and safe and happy holidays to all who are going away for Easter.

Lynn- I'm glad your husband likes his job and I hope it stays that way. You've been moving all over the place.
Bonnie- I'm glad the tornado missed your moms house. Those things are a freak of nature if you ask me.
I bowled practice today and the lanes were not oiled for about 3 days. Boy were they awful. My new ball I bought for conditions like that is hanging up a bit and I need to sand it some more. It's a process. My finger tips are sore, haha. and I hope it doesn't become an issue. It feels like a bone bruise. Y'all have a good night. Stevebowlinggolfdog

Hi Y'all,

DH loves his new job! I am trying to be hopeful but not too excited in case it doesn't work out. He sent me some info from the realtors and it looks like they will put it on the market in the next few days. So, I am enjoying not keeping it "perfect" until then. lol DH is flying back to SC tomorrow night. Then he will pack his stuff and drive to WI leaving early Sat am. It will take about 14 hours so 2 days to get there. And it is still snowing there too. He says his apt is really nice. Small but nice. I am just going to stay put for now.

I started back on my healthy journey a few days ago. Here is my new motto:

Just for today....I'm going to make healthy choices in my life.
I will live in the moment. I'll worry about tomorrow when it becomes today.
I can do ANYTHING "just for today."
I believe that my history is NOT my destiny.

I found this somewhere on SP but I can't remember where.

Bonnie.....it is kinda like your 10 minutes of exercise.

I am so glad that the health reports are coming back good.

I will check in tomorrow, Lynn

Lista-Weirdest thing...after I posted my message yesterday, all the other posts showed up so I got caught up with reading! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow as you see your oncologist. I hope you get good news!

Mel-Glad you are doing well with being cancer free! I just had my mammogram done today.

Mary2-How wonderful that you found that note from your DH! What a bittersweet moment that must have been for you.

I got in a 3.2 mile run this evening and was going to do ST, but we sat down to watch a DVR'd show and I was too tired to workout anymore! Ooops....

Good night, everyone!

Just dropping back in to mention an article that SP sent me. "Do you suffer from diet rage?" I was glad I read it, it gave me a bit of new perspective, even though I had read it a year ago. How quickly we forget!

MARY2

Congratulations on handling your crisis. I know it was difficult, but you did it! Kudos to you. If I am understanding you correctly, the problem is solved. So good for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

MARY

Good for you for making good choices that helped your husband as well! Yea!

As far as the tornadoes, we are a bit nervous around here. Last year we had devastating tornadoes, that killed quite a few people, and did tremendous damage and destruction. The little kids are even frightened a bit.

The people who live behind both of my nieces' homes, have taken in the niece of the mother to live with them, because her mom, dad, and little brother were killed and she was injured last year. So, I guess it is really on our minds. We have had them forever, but that has affected the way we look at them I think.

Steve you sure keep busy! Hope your DW heals soon.

Mel sounds like you had good reason to celebrate. A little chocolate here and there wont kill anyone!

Dianna I am impressed getting up that early to workout. I have a hard enough time dragging myself out of bed at 5 am to get to work.

Esky welcome!!! The trick is to find some type of exercise you like to do. I started working out more in January. At first I had to really push myself some days but now if I dont exercise for a few days I really miss it. Never thought Id ever say those words but I do!

CHESCHEIR welcome back! I find using the nutrition tracker very helpful. Even if you cant get online to do that, just writing down everything you eat is an eye opener.

Lista hope you get good news tomorrow!

Teejay Working different shifts all the time must be very challenging. Stay positive. Even though you want to lose that last 10 pounds, look at how much you have already lost!!! Way to go!!!

Bonnie so many tornadoes around this year. I guess thats one good thing about it still being cold here in MN puts the tornadoes off for awhile.

DH had his cholesterol checked today and it has dropped. I guess my trying to cook healthier meals is helping him too! Cold and gloomy so heading to the gym tonight to run/walk on the treadmill. One more day of work then Friday off. Cant wait!!!

Hi, new (and a few old) friends! Thanks for enjoying my 'lunch note' with me---I think God and Dave were preparing me for today's ordeal: I had an appointment with the AC people to do a routine check up. I know..I know..many of y'all are still snowed under but we've been in the 80's in the afternoon for a while now, lol. Anyway, the repairman found mold growing around our 4 yr. old AC unit in the attic. He 'sealed' it with something and I bought new filters that he says will help keep the surrounding air going in the right place. WHO KNOWS??? So many things have gone wrong with the house since Dave died...and he took care of all that stuff, made the appointments and watched over as the people fixed the broken stuff. ARGH....I'm not a good pioneer woman! But at least I have my 2 notes...

Hi, Lista---your name was one of the ones I recognized from my other group!

I have lots to catch up on and need to run but just thought I'd drop by for a minute. Lots of wonderful health things to celebrate here, it seems!

I think that shift work is the most difficult. When I did it when I was young, I never really felt rested. Did not do it very long, and am grateful for that. Because I have sleep apnea, I have learned the real importance of getting enough sleep. In fact, I have read articles that say if you have a choice between getting enough sleep, and exercising, chose sleep. I know that if I had not gotten my apnea under better control, I would never have lost any weight.

Good luck making the change, and getting enough sleep yourself!

Looks to my by your tracker, that you have found some good ways to deal with the situation.

MEL

Very glad about your good report from the oncologist. What great news. Glad your sight is coming back so fast. You certainly are the defination of a survivor!

LISTA
Best wishes on your report as well. We women can just keep on going can't we? Five years is certainly cause for celebration too!

Glad that you are on board with me to lose this stinking winter weight! Anyone else want to join us?

CHESHAIR

Welcome back, and glad you have been able to do well with your exercise. My best advice as far as eating is concerned, is to be kind to yourself. I have found that the times I am the most critical of myself, and when I go back into "diet" mentality, you know, that all or nothing way of thinking, are the times that I eat compulsively.

Find some good things about you, and remember to reinforce your thoughts with those ideas, and let go of the criticisms! We are so very much our own worst critics! Usually wrongly so. Progress, not perfection.

ESKY

Welcome to you as well. The best advice I ever received was here on Spark People. One of the coaches sent out an email that said to commit yourself to exercising for 10 minutes. No matter what you do, do it for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes are over, if you want to do more, fine, if not, you have met your commitment. Sounds funny, but once you realize that you have made a commitment that you have then fufilled, it is very gratifying.

DIANNA

Good to see you here. You certainly have the exercise part going so well. One step at a time, one day at a time, with the rest of it!

At least that is what I am always telling myself!

STEVE

Thanks for the 10 degrees, I am waiting impatiently for it go get here. We had a tornado last night during a bad storm in an area very close to my mom and my nieces' homes. Not liking that too much.

I am doing well. Ronnie had the kids today, so I had my appointment at the salon with Christy to get my hair cut and colored. That is always a good day, but it was better because Christy was not terribly busy, and we were able to have a nice visit too.

Went to my favorite consignment shop, and of course had to find something to buy!

I found a small round oak table, probably about a foot and 1/2 diameter, for $20.00. I am a sucker for anything with old oak, as that is what my woodwork in my house is. Found a place to put it, but did NOT really need it, that was for sure!

Went to the grocery store, and am home now just chillin'. Feeling pretty good in spite of the weather!

God Bless and have a great rest of the day my friends.

Bonnie

Good evening,

It's been awhile since I"ve posted here. I'm back on the dayshift (6a-2p) for 2 months, this rotating is killing me. I was on the afternoons (2p-10p) this month, but I'm still working.

Steve, I used to bowl. But it's been yrs since I've picked up a bowling ball. Good scores!

I went to get a mammogram and they told me to come back. It was a cyst, so that's good news. I'm really trying to lose the last 10 lbs but with this stupid weather of ours. One day it's sunny & 80 and next, cold, rain and SNOW. I did go for my walks when it was nice, but now, forget it. I'm back on the treadmill. And of course, the shift change has to do with it. But I'm still trying and not giving up.

Well, I just wanted to stop by and say hi & to let you know I haven't dropped out of the team. And whoever lives in a warm area, could you please send some of it to IL? My flowers thanks you!

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening or Whatever wherever you are. It really does get confusing. Had a great Book Club meeting - great discussion and then went out for lunch.

I finally have started back to tracking my food and hope that will jump start some more weight loss. I tracked all the time in the beginning and then got rather lazy about it and thought I can do this. Hopefully I will see some results.

Mel, did I miss something? I didn't know about the breast cancer. Happy to hear your good new of all clear appointment. I am also a cancer survivor - I had thyroid cancer surgery a couple of years ago. Everything is just fine now and have to see the Endocrinologist only every year now. In fact I have an appointment coming up next month.

Lista, I will pray for you seeing you oncologist tomorrow and that he will say "all things are good and farewell, live a long life".

Going to load up my book on tape and take a walk. Have a rest of the day everyone. emoticon emoticon

Melva - I love that name. Never heard it before (so says someone with the real name of Lista!) My mom's name is Belva. Never heard that before except for an author, Belva Plain. So what do you see with 2/3 of your vision? Blurry, tunnel vision? That is so interesting. Good news on your cancer appointment, fellow cancer survivor. I had a mastectomy myself 5 years ago. I go tomorrow for my 5 year appointment with my oncologist and hope he says "all things are good and farewell, live a long life." And then I'll get an end date to stop taking my cancer meds. Yeah!!!

Chescheir - welcome. So what does a girl do in Botswana? I had to Google Botswana just to be sure where it was. Not so good with my geography. Keep up the exercise. I found tracking my food is a real help. Then you can see where you are going wrong and how much you really are eating. Good luck. Keep moving.

Esky - I like your Spark page. It's good to have a plan! Welcome.

Dianna - have you always been a runner? I would like to become one, but my attempts haven't been real successful. Tried doing the couch to 5k to get myself to be a runner but not yet. I'm always so impressed by runners. I know Kathy on this board gets me motivated all the time to want to be the runner. I'll keep trying.

I'm off to the gym for my lunch hour. Just have to get away from the desk. Have a good day.

I've had a tough time getting reconnected with spark people--hoping this will "spark" today. Traveled out of country late March and while I've continued to exercise since I got back, I just haven't been as careful with my diet...Any help or advice would be appreciated!.

Great news about your cancer check up. That's terrific.

good morning all. Haven't been on here in awhile. I'm still working out and trying to eat correctly. The working out part is usually pretty easy for me. It's the eating right part that always is hard for me. got up at 4:10 this morning and got to the gym at 4:30 AM. then ran a mile before my half hour training session with my trainer, then ran another mile. SO I"m kind of tired this morning. Need to figure out a way to fall asleep earlier!!

MEL- I'm so glad for you that you are getting "The coast is clear" messages about your "C". My DW had to have some of her breast removed and go through radiation treatment but not chemo, thank GOD. They found it early but it can still come back. She is on some kind of medicine for about 5 years. I hope all your treatments work perfectly and it doesn't come back. Cancer affects so many people nowadays. Everyone knows someone who has had it or does have it. I'm glad you are getting your eye sight back, as well. Stay positive and enjoy your life and, of course, happy spark'n.
I'm bowling this morning in practice with our group. After that, I'll be getting my house ready for about 15 over for Easter Dinner. Lots of stuff to do. Bye now, Stevegolfbowlingdog

Passed my breast cancer appt. at the Clinic today. Still swelling and tenderness but that takes a couple of years to go, so all good. My mini-chemo treatment doesn't finish until October 2014 and then I will be out of remission, but hey, it's good to keep getting the all-clears. I must admit, I breathe a big sigh of relief each time. Scary thing is any type of cancer.

I have two-thirds of my eye sight back now too, so all good! Celebrated both by eating loads of chocolates; not so good, but I did enjoy them so.

Have read everyone's posts. Mary2 - I still have stacks of my parents' 78's. Lovely happy tears.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

lista- I was thinking today who called me, "Lucky Duck" I like that saying! hahaha.
This area we moved to is so perfect in many ways. I love our move from the bay area of California. I have not been in a traffic jam yet, hahaha. Everyday was a traffic jam in Cal.
Bonnie, I'd give you 10 degrees and it would still be perfect here, hahaha.

Mary2 - hi, long time since we talked. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's death. That would be so difficult. Prayers going up for strength for you to handle it all. That is so sweet that you came across that note from him. Sounds like a "God moment" that your pile of papers fell to the floor. What a simple blessing to remember his sweetness in writing you those notes.

Steve - living life, enjoying life is what it's all about. You have a good handle on that. Getting to wear shorts? Lucky duck!

Mary - can you believe the threat of snow? We are just getting sprinkles right now. My sister is LaCrosse, Wisconsin had almost white out conditions. I guess they got a lot of snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we just get the rain and that all the snow goes south.

Kathy - what's up with your computer? It's like your in the Bermuda triangle! Because we have been chatting everyday!

Bonnie - thanks for the encouragement of re-losing the weight that crept up on me over the winter. I'm with you all the way!

Mel - sounds like your healing is going good. Keep it up, being safe along the way.

Sandy - what is beet horseradish? Sounds intriguing.

Lista - in Minnesota

Glad you are having fun, here it is rain, wind, more rain and wind! Send sunshine please, I am feeling as though I live in the nightime zone!

Long, busy day today. Had all 4 kids, early, and late. Tired, so just stopping by to give you all my best wishes, and to say good night!

God Bless.

Mary2- That was a very touching story of your DH's note.
HARRIETTBIRD- I can smell the new carpet already. I love that smell and enjoy it after it is installed. I'm glad the snow storm missed your area. Summer is right around the corner for sure.
Mel- Happy tax June day and I hope your eye sight comes back.
Well, our weather is in full speed now. It was soooo beautiful at 80 degrees and right now at 8pm, it's in the 70's. The shorts I'm wearing is my insignia from now on, hahaha.
My DW fell down while walking last night. She apparently came down on her foot weird and she actually sprained her ankle with a slight fracture after running her down to the emergency and looking at the X-ray. They gave her this velcro air boot to keep her foot immobile for awhile. She did not bowl this morning in league but I did. Man, same old thing. I only missed the pocket 3 times in 3 games and my last game I had back to back solid, (if you can say that) 7-10 splits. Ya know, the two corner pins, hahah. Then I stuck a solid 10 pin and then 4 perfect strikes and then a berried 10 pin again then 3 strikes in the 10th frame. Anyway, 187-208-204. I was very disappointed but encouraged because I actually found something out. Hard to explain but I'm very close to bowling great. I went golfing afterwards with a new friend. We had a blast but his back/neck was starting to hurt him due to a past neck/spine surgery. He probably over did it so we packed it up after 12 holes. I hit a couple of oh so perfect shots that will keep me thinking about them for awhile. Anyway, I belong to the to much fun club. Y'all have a great night and happy spark'n.

Hi all,

Just stopping by to say hi. Someone is coming over with some carpet samples tonight so we can start picking that out for the basement. I have off Friday so planning on going to a few more places to check on prices.

The snow storm that was supposed to hit us appears to have gone farther south. Lista, hope you didn't get too much your way.

Have a great day/night everyone!

Hi everyone...very odd thing-I don't see any messages on here after the morning of April 12! Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying the great weather we are having.

I had a nice weekend in Akron, OH with a couple of Canadian friends who came down for a rubber stamping convention. We had fun catching up with each other and doing some rubber stamp shopping. :-0 I hope to catch up with you all and get back into the groove of things.

Take care my friends.

Ahhhh....home from school and it's Wednesday! Lois, I applaud you for putting your son on your account. My husband took care of my parents' finances and his mom's for the last 4 years, as well as ours. It's been so hard to get all that paperwork taken care of now that he's gone---they need bills paid and someone to be their advocates and new powers of attorney and I'm just 'done in'. Thank goodness my youngest sister is a financial accountant and had been helping my husband with some of the day to day business when he was going through radiation last spring. My sister in law has taken over HER mother's things so all I have to do is deal with MY new situation. All I've evern had to do is pay bills and sign the tax return....boy, has this been baptism by fire!!

Auntie, thanks for your positive words. I had to go back to school 2 weeks after DAve died and it was so hard---I wasn't ready. But my school only gives us 5 sick days and they gave me an extra week. So I've been super busy since mid-January. I guess it's been a good thing in the long run. And I laugh as well as cry!

Mel, I wish I had my 45's! My husband had a huge collection and we sold it with his mom's things last summer when we had an estate sale trying to get some money to support her in an assisted living arrangement here. I spent so much time going over the titles. Kids nowdays have no idea how much time we spent loading and unloading those stacks, lol!

I had the sweetest unexpected thing happen at school. I knocked over a mesh hanging file holder and upended a week's worth of work. As I picked up the scattered files and loose papers, here was a napkin that my husband had put in my lunch in the fall---you know how mothers put little 'love notes' to their kids in their lunches? I told him that I spent time reading the notes and passing out forks before I could eat my own lunch! so he surprised me and wrote me little notes every week or so. The girls, especially, were thrilled! Well, they were napkins and I used them, lol. But I'd save a couple and only found one once I got back to school. And here, stuck in one of the file folders, was another love note! I cried, but they were happy tears!

Off to exercise!

Not much going on today. My son and I had a meeting at the bank to get his name on my accounts and then he took me to lunch. Was going to come home and do some laundry, but decided I would rather finish a book for my book club.

I have checked everyone posts, but too lazy to reply to each and everyone so - have a great rest of the day and simply wonderful evening. I plan on watching the results of Dancing with the Stars. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello all,

Doing a catch up of posts.

Mikelldn- welcome drop in whenever you have a chance. I'm glad you are doing some kind of exercise even if it's a dvd. They do work as well

Dianna6025- I understand about the binge eating. It happens to us all of us one time or another and some more times then we like to admit.

Lois- I've stopped putting my photos' in the albums since my children are not interested in them all i do now is hang up the ones I want put them in an album when I take them down and then leave the rest on a cd. Seems to me you had a very productive day - you got to read the WHOLE paper.

Mel- arn't you glad your an SP person, learning to google now and move around the net like a prow. we are so proud of you emoticon Keep surfing and you will find all the ingredients to make our wonder recipies we pass around to each other. Just to let you know we all whine here. Sometimes I whine so much i'm waiting for some one offer me cheese to go with it.

Lynn- I remember working retail. I helped open a store called "Dots" in 92 and when i came home from the first day of unboxing items and putting them on hangers and hanging them on the rounders for 8 hours I couldn't get out of the car. Once I sat I couldn't get up and I must have sat in the car for a good half hour. My hubby thought It was too much (it was) but I got used to it after a month and worked there for 5 years. I loved meeting all the people who came in to shop. Love the spring install I looked for it here in NE and it isn't even on the radar yet. Your way ahead of me.

Steve- your lifting what I want to loose. Maybe I should buy a ball hold it for a while and then put it down. It would then make me feel like I've lost. emoticon

Matha- glad to have you with us. Don't get discouraged you will loose in your own good time. Don't put the pressure so hard on your self you set yourself up for the fall. You are doing well from what I can tell.

Bonnie- you are wise always about progress not perfection. I kind of like that for a quote. By the way we always like your unsolicited advice if we asked for it you wouldn't know what to say this way here it's straight from the heart and not just spoken like a speech

RW- glad your paradise is wonderful. Glad you got some great pictures

Mary2-glad to have you here. Join us whenever you wish . We will sing your praise, cry with you when your sad and laugh all the time when your happy.

Lista- i'm with you the weather always goes bad again emoticon when I think it's time to get ready for another season like maybe a nice spring.

Margaret- sounds like you are onto a good week and jump on the spring's "taking care of yourself train" Just to let you the track never ends.

I let my gd have a friend sleepover. They were good but she like all kids thinks she can say and do things she can't when they have friends over. I let her go over the other girls house this afternoon. I needed a break.
Work is going good. I'm getting used to it but I sure do miss the money I used tomake. I feel like a high school student just starting out. I had hubby fix the dryer last night it broke on Saturday while I was doing laundry what a mess. I had him carry my wet load over to the neighbor to dry and had to put all the other laundry on hold. I'm sure glad I didn't have to go to the laundry mat. I hated those days and was not looking forward to it. My son and his family came for Palm Sunday dinner it was really nice. My son that lives here and his family went out to a party for the day so it was really nice just having one family for dinner. I'm beginning to look forward to them moving out in June. I know the DIL is not. She really wants to stay but we all know why she can't. I'm sticking to my guns on this. It's not easy but I am.
Gotta go pick up the gd now as it's time for her to come home. And now the peace and quite is over for the day.

Love to all of you and have a wonderful rest of the day.

Mary2 - Yes it's a hard call when you lose someone so close. You tend to go with whatever is easiest with meals and other things too, so well done with your positives. Your weather sounds wonderful. Oh yes, Leslie Gore; I still have that 45.

Mary - Great you enjoyed your weekend. Lots of people.

Lynn - Lol, that is very clever.

Lois - I have 'nearly' lost days just about every day, lol, so don't fret about it. Yes, I'm taking care of myself thanks. I have just a little bit more than 1/2 sight in my eye now. It's slowly improving, ya!

Rosie - Hello back to you girlfriend.

Sandy - You have been awfully busy. Bad luck with the weather for your grandie's camp trip. Sounds like you definitely deserve that snooze.

Steve - Enjoy your bowling and your golf. I think I may have mentioned before that our tax time is the end of June.

Bonnie - I think all the times are weird. A SparkFriend posted a blog on her Saturday but it showed up as Sunday on my computer. She said it shows up as Saturday on her computer. On my computer everyone's weight ticker shows up in kilos but I am sure that most of you are in pounds. Must be a spark area thing.

Have a good Tuesday everyone.

Bonnie, my middle son lives in Austin and my sister in law is on Tiki Island, right outside of Galveston. I love them all! If you get to the Houston area I'd love to visit or at least chat. One of these days I'll start doing a bit of traveling myself. Now it will be by myself, mostly, and that's daunting. But all in good time!

I did a 1 mile WATP dvd and have finished my water for the day. Off to bed...

I said all of that other stuff, but after reading your last post, I realized that Mary is right, maybe the best thing is to just give yourself a break, and much time to heal. It will all come in good time. So sorry for your loss.

I always count house cleaning as exercise myself. That is hard work!

RW

Loved the pictures. Five generations is a wonderful accomplishment!

MARTHA

Good for you for having a great weekend, and getting exercise. YEA!!!

MARGARET

Congrats on the pound loss! Enjoy your family for the holidays!

MICHELLE

FYI the weather in Toledo stinks!

MEL

Not sure about the times on the computer, but I sent that post out at 8:15pm on Sunday! I guess the computer can't keep out times straight either!

MARY

The snow part stinks, but sure sounds as though your weekend was filled with lauighter and love! So nice that everyone could get together! What a blessing

LYNN

That was soooooo funny! You are just so very clever!

LOIS

Glad you had a do nothing day. I think we all need that on occasion!

ROSIE

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I am becoming soooo confused. Just hope you are well whatever time it is!

SANDY

Glad you had some time to just kick up your heels. Your day off, still sounds like a lot of work, as did your day before having fun!

STEVE

Even though you are having bad weather, I am assuming that the tornados missed your area. Sounds as though there was much devastation. Prayers for all of those affected.

MARY2

My brother and sister in law lived in Houston since 1980. My niece was born there and is just a true Texan! She now lives in Austin.

They now are living on Galveston. Have one of the survivor houses from the hurricane of 1900, and now after a year of repairs, they have an old house that has survived the last hurricane.

Have not been down there since the hurricane, my brother says things have changed a lot. Love it there, and am looking forward to trying to find a time to get there again. Flying is sooo expensive, not sure when that might happen!

Have a great evening all, and a good day tomorrow.

God Bless my friends.

I'm so sorry for everyone still having winter----Lynn, your spring 'error' is a hoot! We're in full blown spring here in Houston. Highs in the 80's and all flowers are blooming. One of my sisters is in Illinois and is still facing winter there, though.

Lois, thanks for your wise advice. I have taken care of all the legal business so far and am trying to stay on top of things. My sweet daughter just called and has invited me to come for dinner on Thursday. We are both teachers and get Good Friday off. I am doing well most of the time. And when I'm not---I just cry if I want to(where's Leslie Gore when you need her?!).

I will exercise tonight and have watched my food intake today. I need to up my water but will keep on top of that too.

Here's to a great rest of Monday for everyone!

Boy, this weather in NC is so screwy if you ask me. We had very bad weather on Sat and Sun. was very nice and today is so nice. I'm in my prime with me wearing shorts and all. I'll be bowling in the morning and golfing afterwards with a friend I've never golfed with. He said he has not played in 3 years. We should have a blast. I got new bowling ball and I'll be trying it out too. I just love this weather and I'm like a kid feeling this great weather. BBQ'ing is right around the corner. Happy Tax day y'all, as well. This economy is getting worse and worse if you ask me. The cost of everything is going up and up. I think it is planned. Anyway, I'm planning to keep my weight off, hahaha. I see new team members and you are welcome to add your two cents and all.
I liked Lynns post, hahaha.

Hi all and welcome Mary2.

I am beat with a capital B. I am having a ahard time reading all the posts and keeping my eyes open.

Got home for the pancake breakfast we were working around 2 pm. Then my DS calls to tell me he is bringing some out of town guests over for a look at the lake in our backyard. So quickly I straightend up, ran the vac and did a little Febreeze on the sofa and chairs. Then we went out to dinner at 6:30.

Ended up not eating til 8, had 2 glasses of wine, some calamari, 8 oz grilled salmon with mango salsa, green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. HMMMM, HMMMM!

Still managed to get u p at 5 this morning, but I am ready for bed right now. Dancing with the Stars on tonight and Barbra Walters special on the Royal wedding. Think I am going to miss that.

Weather here about the same as Bonnies. No snow, just rain, cold and wind. Expecting bad weather the next few days. Feel bad for DGD who is on a camping trip with her school til Weds. Granted they have heated cabins, but no bathrooms in the cabins. She'll have fun I am sure.

DD doing better. Made it out of the house for the breakfast and a trip to Walmart. Now that she can sit at a 90 instead of a 45, easier to do some things. She has dropped one crutch 2x's when no one was around and managed with a bit of inginuety to pick it up. PT take sup most of her day, so some of her boredom will be gone.

Other DS off tomorrow so he will be dealing with the girls. Hooray, a day off. Yeah right. Still have to get the dog in for her yearly checkup and heartworm test, iron tablecloths, make beet horseradish and run a few errands. Think there will only be 25 for Easter dinner on Sunday. Okay with me.

May take a 10 minute snooze. Eyelids just want to close. Will keep in touch.

RW- nice pics! emoticon

Yesterday really became almost a lost day. The only things that I did was nap, read the paper, magazines a book, and played games on the computer. No patio no planning, in fact, I was a wimp the whole day. But, today is a new day and will get myself moving

Lista, don't worry I didn't even go out onto the patio and from hearing the new weather report it is not going to happen soon.

Runningwater, great pictures/.

Mel, I hope you are taking good care of your self.

Hi all,

Had a great weekend. Didn't step on the scale this morning though - will wait a few days to get back in the routine.

We celebrated Easter yesterday with DH's family. All 28 of us were there. I think that's the first time we have all been together since my niece's wedding in Aug 2009. And the next time we all get together there will be 29! That same niece is expecting her first in September.

My kids miraculously did survive an entire weekend without internet.

Woke up to 4 inches of snow Saturday morning! Yuck!! They are predicting more this week. Will spring ever come?????

Skimmed through all the posts. We are a chatty bunch aren't we. But that's what makes this group so fun.

Have a great Monday!

Thanks for the warm welcome, new Spark Friends! I had a productive day yesterday. I counted my hour's worth of big cleaning as 40 minutes of exercise and met my calorie deficit for the day. I will walk or do a WATP dvd when I get home from school today.

Bonnie, you get on that soapbox anytime you want, lol. Yes, I have done the 'event' bit several times. I didn't have much control (still don't) over my recent loss--my husband was only sick a couple of weeks before he passed away, thank goodness. But I've been so up and down emotionally and going out to eat or having friends bring me wonderful dinners that I've not been watching my portions and my exercise has been so sporatic. I have no energy and I need to get back to a routine. I felt more like myself this weekend and it was a good start. Maybe it's time for my own Resurrection this Easter?! I will exercise and be careful of portions this week and get lots of inspiration from all of you.

Off to get ready for school...

Mary2!

RW - Pretty cool, 5 generations. See 4 gens. a lot, but 5 is pretty special. Love to see a pic. Glad you got it OK.

Mary2 - Welcome back then! I'm a relative newbie as only been posting here since December I think. Oh Wow, has it been that long. I'm not really a newbie anymore then, lol. This spot is addictive Mary.

Lois - Sometimes it's good to have a do-nothing day. Don't knock it. I said the same to Bonnie about a feel-good day. Don't knock it. Too few and far between.

Diana - Best of luck with your bowling. You are doing fine with your exercise and your positive thinking. Well done!

Lista - It's good to know that you are aware of where you went wrong with your weight gain and are being positive as to how to correct this situation. Yes, I think the warmer weather helps so much with feeling more in the mood to exercise. I've only 1.5 months of Autumn left here in Australia and then it's yuck Winter for me.

Bonnie - Your post showed up on my computer as 10:15 am Monday which would make it 1:15 am Tuesday here, so something is dreadfully wrong because it's 5:45 pm Monday here and your post reads like you are still in Sunday there.

Martha - You're doing great. Glad you enjoyed your weekend.

Margaret - Wow, another pound! Awesome girlfriend!

Have a great Monday all!

RW I love taking pictures of the family. It's great that you were able to take so many pictures!
Margaret how is the weather in Michigan? I was in Detroit until last month on the 29th. It was still quite cold! How I miss Detroit!

Had a very pleasant day although the weather is awful.

Somehow lost another 1 pound at my Sunday morning weight-in. If that one sticks that will make two pounds down.

Been do my core exercises but no cardio. This week I will get back to the treadmill ( lots of rain in forecast this week) and do a half mile and stretches and see how that goes.

Looking forward to Holy Week!

DH and DS are coming home at the end of April!!! Lots to do to get ready.

Take care all!

Margaret

We were posting at the same time, so I missed you. I am in the same place you are. Had a really tough winter, doing exactly what you are talking about. Finding my old habits!

Working now on getting those pounds off that I had put on once again. We will do this together! OK?

I actually did the same thing last winter, took them off then, and am determined to take them off again. Did not change my tracker, so will let you all know when it is actually the truth again!

We can do this!

Hope you are enjoying your bowling this evening. What a wonderful cause to be working for.

I am not in Canada, but seems as though we are weather wise! Cold and windy windy windy!
I guess we are supposed to have some snow in the am. Geez!

Glad that your spirits are up. Even when my spirits are down, this place sustains me until I can work my way out of the depression. I know that over the last 3 1/2 years, I would have gained all of my weight back many times over had I not had this safe and loving place to be. No one judges you here, but loves you unconditionally. Such a blessing.

LOIS

Sounds to me that you are right where God wants you to be today! Enjoy, enjoy!

Welcome, please join us as often as you like. We will all be here for you.

I am the one who gives all of the unsolicited advice, I can be a real pain in the butt, but I have an observation to make after reading this post, and eveyone knows I will make it!

It appears to me that your motivation for weight loss has been event, oriented, and due to stress etc. May I suggest that you find a way to make the weight loss effort be for you! A couple of things I have learned in my years here are worth sharing. If they do not interest you, I am not offended.

First, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Diet's do NOT work, so the plan is to make one small change at a time, one day at a time. Otherwise the changes become too overwhelming, and we are unable to make them all at once, Then when we are unable to do somthing that is not reasonable in the first place, we chastize ourselves! That has been my history anyway.

Secondly, I have found that my biggest challenge has been to listen to the way I speak to myself, and to realize how destructive the negative messages I am giving to me are!

That one takes some time, and much awareness. But I feel so much better when I am able to counter the bad with good messages about who I am. I have had to be honest about what is and isn't true about me! It is an ongoing process.

Third, and last for now, I have learned that some exercise is better than none at all. There was a post from Spark People one day that has really stuck with me. It said, commit to yourself to exercise for 10 minutes, be it at the gym, walking, video's, or just exercising a bit in front of the tv. Tell yourself that you will work out today for 10 minutes, even 5 if you like. Normally, if I can get myself going, and this is still a challenge for me at times, I will exercise more than my time, but only if I want to.

Ok, putting the soapbox back where it belongs now. Best to you in whatever you figure out that works on your journey. I lied, one more, this journey is a marathon, NOT a sprint. Work at your own pace.

RW

Glad you were able to have a good beach day. Will be looking to see those 5 generation pictures!

MEL,

So now you are only 15 hours ahead of us, hope you have enjoyed your morning, and it must be, 11:12 am. Did I get it?

Had a wonderful day myself. Went to see very old friends in a wonderful production of "Hello Dolly". It was outstanding, and we spent such a joyful afternoon. I was brought to tears to see my 2 friends playing opposite each other for the first time in years, and it was thrilling.

Was able to spend a bit of time with the two of them after the show and we had a lovely visit!

I am still feeling very good this evening.

Some things just make you grin!

Have a great week my friends, and SMILE! God Bless.

Sunny day today. It felt good even though the temps weren't so high. Took the dogs with uptown and went for a walk. I wish I was always as excited to go for a walk as they were. But they do encourage you.

Lois - don't jinx us Minnesotans and put your patio furniture out! Everytime I put the winter coat or the sweathers away for the winter we end up getting cold weather!!!!! And don't even think about putting flowers out yet. They for sure will end up freezing. Can't wait for real warm weather.

Diana - I feel your pain with the snow. We got back from our vacation in California to a snow fall. It was so sad to see the budding trees with snow sitting on the buds. But it is pretty much melted now. Yeah!

After enjoying some warm weather I really am looking forward to losing some more weight. This winter was really hard for me and I added about 15 pounds. Not intentionally but I do know where I went wrong. Found myself kind of going back to old habits and not watching the portions as much. Plus not exercising as much. That is a big deal with me. I really need to keep active. Maybe will be able to start walking on the sidewalks (now that the ice and snow and is gone) at lunch time.

Lista - in Minnesota
