Hi everyone.Woke up to and inch of snow today. Went to church and it melted by the time mass was done. Then it snowed again when I went for groceries. I just love Canadian weather. I am jealous of Lois setting up the patio though. Hoping to be that lucky by May. My only excercise today will by our company's Bowling for Leukemia tonght. I bought leis and floral hair clips for all to wear. I heard that 2 of our members are wearing bowling shirts too but I've never owned one.
I saw my daughter's school friend Andrew at the bank this week and he is a very competitive tri-athelete. He is encouraging me to try more running. I started the walk/jog this week and did pretty well. I didn't feel any different than when I was training for the 5km walk. I will keep working at it as I want to try a 5km run/walk by the autumn.
Talking to all of you and reading your messages has kept my spirits pretty high. Thanks to all for positive comments to each other...I read them all and take a little away for myself from each one.
I will post my bowling scores when I get home. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Good afternoon everyone! So far I haven't done one productive thing today. Didn't get to church and spent most of the morning reading the paper. It is a beautiful sunny day so I might (?) set up the patio which really means move some of the pots around andmaybe decided on what I am going to plant. Don't want to make too many hasty decisions as I am still pretty tired from all the action yesterday.

Will be back later to read the chats, but for now had a great day.

Good Sunday morning! Lynn keeps encouraging me to post to this group, so I thought today was a good time to start. I'm another Mary (I saw one Mary on here already!) and I know I wrote once before. I've just had my 3 year SP anniversary. I lost weight for my daughter's wedding, gained it back, then lost 10 pounds after my husband passed away right after Christmas. I started exercising again, then lost steam with school and all the legal work that I've had to do. I realized last night that I've probably put most of the recently lost weight back on....and I didn't get on the scale yet! So here I am, trying again. I see several names of Spark Friends, so I think it sounds like a great group. Thanks for the push, Lynn!

Martha - Hello and welcome. I found two local SP's too and that's pretty amazing because I live in Tasmania. Yes, it's exciting to meet fellow Sparkies and there is always soooooo much to talk about.

Rosie - Oh yuck! Sandstorms! How terrible. Sand can be such a penetrating substance and to have a storm where you can't even see your hand, well that sounds like something out of 'Lawrence of Arabia' or something.

RW - lol

Limastar - Have a safe trip.

Lista - Yes, unfortunately all good things come to an end. You have happy memories now though. I agree, the play should be fun. Thanks for your kind words.

Lynn - You sure are one busy girlfriend. Thanks for your kind words too. I hope you enjoy your 2 days off.

Lois - No wonder you are too tired to chat! That was one helluva long and full day you had.

Bonnie - Loved your words on progress not perfection. Mentioned before, but will do again, it was good you had others around you all day Saturday and that you aren't worried anymore.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

MARTHA

Welcome to our group. We are always glad to have new folks to help us support each other. Sounds to me as though you have taken several steps forward, and one little backslide! You can get yourself back on track.

Not sure if you have read my recent posts, so I will tell you what I have recently realized that I was doing.
Three and 1/2 years ago when I began my journey, one of the first things I realized is that diets don't work. So, I decided that I would never go on a diet again. That I would work on realizing that I could eat what I wanted to within reason, and not have to eat everything in sight because I was going on a diet on MONDAY.

This past winter, I forgot that very lesson. I have gained 20 pounds this winter, and now am working on taking it back off. As I began to get in the working groove again, it came to me that I had once again adopted the "all or nothing" mentality of dieting.

My point is that after all of the years I spent in that place, even though I have learned how to deal better, it can still come back. 50 years of overeating will not be completely conquered during 3 1/2 years of learning new lessons.

Working on "progress, not perfection". So, join us all on our journey to progress!

ROSIE

Glad to have you back, even if it is sporadically, get to us as you are able. Have heard so much about those sandstorms, they have to be just terrible. When I first joined this thread, we had Maryam, who lived in the United Arab Emirites, and Robin, who lived in , I think it was Saudi Arabia. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Regardless, they both told us about how the sand just insinuates itself everywhere.
Hope they are over quickly for you.

Thanks for the condolences regarding Oreo.

RW

Know you just loved having that little cutie around this weekend!

Thanks again for the laughter!

LIMASTAR

Hope you have had a good trip. Enjoy your stay!

LISTA

Glad you had a lovely vacation, sorry about the weather upon your return. It is terribly cold and windy here. thought it was getting better this morning when the sun was out, but alas, no such luck

Thanks also for your thoughts on losing my boy kittie! He was special.

LYNN

Glad you are off tomorrow and Monday since you have to get up so early in the morning. Come home and take a nap!

Thanks also for the condolences.

Good luck with your busy week.

LOIS

Get to bed! Sure you have to be tired. Sounds as though it was a wonderful day too!

I did have a good day myself, in spite of having Oreo put to sleep this morning.

I have actually been worrying about him for quite a few months. So, once it was over, I was sad, but realized that it was actually going to be a relief. He had not been well for quite awhile, but we try not to admit that sometimes.

I was very sad after I left the vet's office, so I called Laura and Derek and they said come on over. They made me coffee, let me talk, and I felt much better for being with people that loved me. We had a nice visit, and I was relaxed

Came home and rested a bit, then picked up Max,my 7 year old great nephew, and we had a date, went to see"Hop", then dinner at Bob Evans. His mom and Christie took the three great nieces out to dinner, so when we came home we had more time together. I loved it, I don't often get to sit with him for hours and just cuddle, he is just too much boy and too busy He loved it tonight too. His mom called about 7:30pm, and said they would be a bit later, and he said "great, we can have an even longer date". How can you resist that!

Got home about 9:30pm, ate a little dinner, and watched a bit of tv. Need to get done here and get to bed.

I am so grateful to have you all. God Bless, my friends, and enjoy your Sunday!

Hi Y'all,

Worked today and just finished supper. DH is flying to WI tomorrow at 5 am. I get to take him to the airport. He will then fly Mon night to Memphis and fly back to SC from there. Next Sat he will drive to WI. This will be a busy week at work. I am off Sunday and Monday...Yay!

RW...the milk story reminds me of when we were kids and Mom tried to get us to eat instant potatoes. She would peel and cut up one potato and mix it in with the flakes so she could tell us they were real mashed potatoes.

Bonnie......so sorry to hear about your kitty. Pets are such an important part of our lives. It is painful to see them go.

Steve.....I hope you are OK from the storms that happened today. We didn't have any problems.

Dianna....It doesn't matter how many times we fall....it is how many times we get back up. You can do this. I am getting back on board myself. We are all in this together.

Mary.....congrats on the 10 lb loss! That is great. All your hard work is paying off.

Mel.....I too, think you are very brave to have ventured out so soon. I am giving you an A for effort! You are coming along much faster than I originally thought that you would. Keep up the good work.

Margaret.....I am glad your knee is feeling better. I think many of us are recommitting to a healthier lifestyle. It is just that time of the year. Winter is a hard time to keep up with exercising and eating healtlhy. But now it's spring and I need to get back on the wagon too.,

Martha.....welcome to the team! The more the merrier. Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you live? I think that is exciting to meet some people from SP. Let us know how that goes. And keep posting so we can get to know you better.

Sandy.....you are so busy. I can't imagine how you get it all done. Take some time for yourself.

AD...I am glad you like your job. You sound like you are getting more done now that you are working. lol I do that too. If I am not working I procrastinate and never get things done.

Have a great Sunday, Lynn

My vacation is officially over after leaving San Diego in shorts and sandals with 80 degree weather only to fly into Minnesota with 30 degree and snow coming down. What a downed. Now I'm just depressed. I just keep trying to remember the waves crashing onto the white sand with my toes in it!

On my way to the theater. My nephew is the sound and light manager for his high school plays. They are doing The Wizard of Oz. Should be fun. This is his last play of highschool then he's off to college for theater production.

Mel - sounds like you are healing up slow and steady. Give your body a chance to heal. It will come around.

Bonnie - sorry to hear about your cat. That is never easy. We have a couple geriatric animals too so that is in our near future. Just have to love them up for now.

Happy Weekend to All. It's going to be a rainy afternoon and I'm flying to CA, so hoping the rain doesn't cause any problems. Flying through Chicago and then on to CA.

Runningwater, loved your story about the skim milk. Hubby resisted using 2% for a long time, but I found that the organic 2% was much better in taste to the regular 2% and acceptable to hubby.

Still have to pack, so got to go.

Good morning once again,
the weekend has arrived and it's a beautiful day. Little Evee,( 5 months) our GGD spent the night. Kids are cute aren't they!

To help a friend lose weight, I told her that she should switch to lower-fat foods like skim milk.

She said her family would only drink whole milk, so I suggested she keep their regular container and refill it with skim milk.

This worked for quite a while, until one morning her daughter asked whether the milk was OK.

"Sure, it's fine," my friend answered, fearing she had been found out. "Why do you ask?"

(Story continues below)

"Because according to the carton," the daughter explained, "this milk expired two years ago."

Hi everyone hope you are all doing well I haven't been able to get on the internet as it keeps cutting out these last few days, it is because of the sand storms we are having here, its been really bad when we go out side we have to wear a mask and you can't even see your hand in front of your face, need less to say we have been inside for the last few days.
haven't read all the post but I am sorry about your cat Bonnie I know how hard it is we love our pets so much and they give us so much love back.
Mel I hope you are looking after yourself, we don't have day light saving in West Australia I don't know if we are the only state that dosn't have it, we voted here if we wanted it of not, and I think I must of been the only one who wanted it LOL.
MARTHA it is great to have you here and welcome to the team

Hello to you all. This is my first post on this thread, have been on SP for two months lost 9.5lbs. and have gained 3lbs. back emoticon . I've been reading the posts regularly and this group is very supportive and encouraging to its members. I get a lot of inspiration and encouragement whenever I read them and finally decided to post.

A get well greeting to those who are under the weather.

Congrats to those who are succeeding - it keeps me on track even when not losing an oz.

ERIESHORES - thank you for making me feel better. We did a whole house remodel about 4.5yrs. ago and the painting is still not done! My DH is never going to do it so hired painter to start and finish in May, lol; I've been embarrassed even when family comes over, most everything is still in boxes in the garage.

DIANA - I bought dove and godiva chocolates for easter and treated myself.

Tomorrow am meeting some local SP's for a walk; my first face to face meeting and am just exited!

Thank you to all for your openness and honesty when you post. emoticon

Lois - Yes, it is a bad habit and such a hard one to break, believing that you are the only person who can do 'it' right and try to rely on no-one. More often than not stubbornness leads to grief. I do hope you enjoy the wedding shower.

Auntie - Yet another google for Palm Sunday, but I'm learning, lol. Ha! Getting paid at work for logging on to SP! Auntie, what next! But then if your pay was so small, good for you, lol.

Mary - Biggest congrats. on your 10 pound loss. Well done girlfriend!! Enjoy your Sunday celebration and I'm sure the kids will survive, lol.

Margaret - Thank you so much for your kind words. Congratulations on your pound loss. Good your knee is feeling great but bad with it still swelling. Pleased you enjoyed your riding too.

Sandy - You sound like you are just too busy. Wow and reno's coming up as well. See if you can take a breather sometime or you'll burn yourself out. Yes, maintaining is good; well, better than gaining anyway. I've been maintaining for months and will make a concentrated effort soon to lose those last few pounds.

Bonnie - Such a sad time for you. My dearest thoughts are with you as you do what you have to do. Whew, OK girlfriend. I've been told!! I'll vent when necessary from now on. Yes sir!!!! Funny thing, I feel better now I've been ticked off, lol.

I've just heard that my friend bent down to do his shoe lace up and his hip popped out. OMG, how painful would that be!

Another cold day here in Tasmania so I've spent most of the day in my computer room with the heater going.
FYI Tasmania is now 15 hours ahead of SP site in time because our Daylight Saving Time finished last weekend.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

I really want to speak to all of you, but I had a good and busy day, and need to get to bed soon.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and understanding about having to put my loving boy to sleep. I am going in the living room and let him sit on my lap for a while before bed, and love him. Will get up in the am, and sit with him until his appointment time at 10am.

I do want to scold Mel. Do not dare think you can't complain or express a problem issue hear on this thread. Good grief, I did nothing buy whine all winter long! If you fuss about fussing a bit, you will make me feel bad about my own whining! We are all here for each other, and while I do appreciate your positive attitude, and your support, we are all here for you when you need us too! God Bless, and just take care of yourself. If you need to vent a bit, please do it here where we all love you and don't judge you!

Glad to hear of some of the flowers, some of the exercising, Yes, AD, I do understand about missing it when not doing it, and then thinking "am I just crazy" when I begin again!

We had terrible cold and windy weather today, but I have decided to just ignore it! I am nice and warm in my home right now!

God Bless all of you, Love ya!

TGIF!!!!!!!

What a week and the weekend isn't much better. Between grandkids and my own kids I am just beat. Will be in bed early tonight. Have a weekend of serving pancake breakfasts from 7 am to 1:30 then a business dinner with DH and DS and their guests from out of town. Tired just thnking about it.

Then next week is another round of PT for DD and school pickups til thursday. THen no kids but alot to do before Easter dinner. So looking forward to vacation in 2 months.

DH has decided now is the time to redo the kitchen and main living area of our home. He hopes to get it all started the first of May. Don't get me wrong, I am excited as he promised me this would all have been done after living here 5 yrs, but we are now going on 10 yrs in this house. LOL Have picked out cabinets and flooring, not counters or backsplash yet. Looking tomorrow.

Read everyone's posts and see we are all still working hard on weight loss. Steve thinking more athletically. Been so windy and chilly here and I have been too busy with kids to think of structured exercise. Just playing most of the day take s enough energy. Maintaining and not gaining is okay with me right now.

All my spring flowers are in bloom surprisingly enough. Yard looks pretty good though still needs some work.

Of to check my laundry. Have a great weekend all. emoticon

Hi,
Just a quick hello and quick glance through the posts to see how all you sweet people are doing.

Mel- So sorry to hear about your setback- but like you said- tomorrow we can start over with a clean slate. Don't feel like you did something "stupid" --- I think it took a lot of courage to try to venture out. You just found that you needed a little more time-- that's all . Be kind to yourself and try to be patient with you.

Bonnie- So sorry about your kitty. I had an older lap cat who had a lot of the same problems that your kitty is having (a few years ago) I wish I had the courage to have her put to sleep - she ended up wandering off - we found her the next day- she had been hit by a car. I cried and cried- I think it's much better to let them go peacefully. IMO you are doing the right thing. Big Hug!!

HARRIETTBIRD - Congrats!!! on the 10 lbs lost!!! Keep up the good work!!

Been doing good eating healthy and good proportions and have lost 1lb which has stayed off for a week so I hope it's official.

Knee is feeling great- but still swells after walking so I will keep up the anti inflammatories and moist heat.

Need to get myself back on a workout routine. Did go riding a couple days ago! YEAH! found it was easier than walking.

Well, gotta go do chores!

Bye all and take care.

Hi all,

Just stopping in quickly to say hi. Have the afternoon off. As soon as the kids get home from school we are leaving to go to MIL's about 2 1/2 hours away. DH went to tech school there and they are having a big reunion celebration. Also, we are celebrating Easter with his family on Sunday there. So will be a busy weekend and no internet access. The kids are already panicking wondering how they can survive an entire weekend with internet.

I hit the 10 pound loss mark - half way there!!!!! emoticon

AD - I know what you mean about missing exercising. I never thought I'd hear myself say those words either but I do.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi all

Hope you all enjoy your Palm Sunday. We attend Mass and then bring our Palms to our relatives home. It is our tradition I started when the kids were little then I would cook a Pork Roast dinner( my in laws came for 20 yrs). When I annouced dinner again this year the kids all have plans and then when I was dissapointed (which is okay they all have to start their own thing) MY hubby says' Since when did we start doing this ?". I now know why I never had help with dinner and clean up "he didn't attend" lololol. After a bit he said 'oh I never really paid attention to the day". He's a guy sorry RW and Steve. lolol

I'm at work now. It is very slow so I only have a few minutes to log on. I've been making it to curves and not Jazzersise this week. Can't wait until I can get back there next week (oh did I say I missed working out ). I must be crazy . I have been able to walk a few days this week afterwork and I could walk for 5 min on my break.

I kind read most of the chats. I'll have to catch up later with all of you. But for the most part everyone seems well and on the mend for what ails them.

Oh paycheck spent- lololo- clothes for work and a rug for the kitchen- boy does it go fast but then again the numbers were so small the bank had to check twice before it would cash it. lolol

Have fun be back soon

Massachusetts If you can't change your circumstances, change the way you look at them.

Was going to wish everyone a Good Morning and see that is really forenoon. Oh well, time goes fast when sitting at the computer. Now, I do need to get busy and clean and walk. Have another wedding shower for my granddaughter tomorrow and trying to decided what to wear as we seem to have gone back to winter with snow in the forecast for tomorrow. That's life in Minnesota - the theater of seasons maybe all in one day.

Mel, glad to hear that you are acknowledging some of your limitations. In reading this it is like the pot calling the kettle back. Been there and done that.

Bonnie, sorry to read about your kitty. These little four legged animals really get in and touch our hearts and to lose them is really difficult. We are not allowed to have pets where I live so I invest my love with my children's pets, and grieve when we lose one of them.

Have a good day and week-end.

Steve - Thanks mate, and yes all OK today. Some days are diamonds, some days are stone. Fifty cents for a game of bowls; wow, even I could afford that! That's two things for fifty cents I've heard about in the last couple of days; the other one is a soft serve ice cream from McDonalds.

Diana and Lois - Thanks so much for your kind words and I'm doing fine today. It's safer staying home for now, lol.

Bonnie - I think you are doing the right thing. A hard call but a just call. I believe quality of life is most important.

It's uncharacteristic of me to share anything other than positives, and there I was yesterday whining away. Oh please, someone post me a violin!!! I suppose it helps to relate how you feel sometimes but not make a habit of it, eh, lol.

Have a great Friday all.

Had a pretty good day today. Did day 2 of the 5km walk/jog challenge training, then walked my dog and went to work. On my dinner break, I went to Lindor chocolate factory outlet and bought Easter treats for a set of twins at church and for my 22 and 20 year old. Of course I did have 4 pieces as well.

Bonnie, I will be at work on Saturday, but I will be thinking of you and your lovely cat.

Steve, I spoke with the organizer of the bowling tournament I am in on Sunday and they are having a great raffle. Some prizes are a tv, neon sign for a bar, beer fridge and even a bbq. I think I am more excited about the raffle than the bowling. I'm afraid I may see more gutter balls than strikes, but it is all for a good cause.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone. emoticon emoticon

Sorry today did not go as well as expected. Take good care of yourself, and you will be fine. I can imagine how frustrating the confinement is, just be careful.

You are absolutely right, tomorrow is another day!

Want to answer you all, but I am mispelling words like crazy, and I want to do a short blog, so will just say goodnight and God Bless.

Thanks for the concern about my cat, yes, he is 18 years old, and I really love him, but he has stopped eating, and is not getting around very well. He has been pretty much completely blind for quite awhile, and his weakness is causing him to be unsteady. I have made an appointment to have him put to sleep on Sat at 11:00 am. WIll be difficult, but have made my peace with it. Poor little guy just wants to sleep in my lap and purr and purr. He is quite a trooper.

Thanks again for all fof the support.

Mel, sorry to hear about your bump in the rode. Sometimes we think we are ready to venture out soon that we should. Be careful and take care of yourself.

Had a really great Bible study today with our Senior Pastor. I just love it when she is the leader. She is a very dynamic person and we are so fortunate to have her.

The rest of the day is not to eventful. Going to do some reading, walking and maybe even take a nap. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I went to a 15 pound ball. I used to throw a 16 pounder and that is the limit but I was talking to the PGA pro who drilled my ball and he said that statistics shows that a 15 pound ball actually carries better. I guess it in the way the ball deflects off of the pins. You would never know it by how many 10 pins I've been leaving, haha. Happy bowling to y'all who take up the game. I'm off to practice. Steve

Hi All, Sunny and about 11 Celcius today (about 51 Fahrenheit) . Will walk dog after going on treadmill and trying to figure out what to take for dinner to work.
Steve, how heavy is your new bowling ball? My old one is 10 lbs I think and my husband's was either 12 or 14 lbs. Can't wait to get those senior discounts. My mother-in-law always checks the offers whereever she goes and saves a lot of money that way.

Mel, I hope you are feeling a little better today. I have limited vision in my left eye and I sympathize with how you felt yesterday. Take it easy today girlfriend! Let us know how you do today.

Lynn, have you tried orthotics in your shoes to help with foot pain. I have flat feet and have to wear them to build up my arch. Helps eliminate, foot, back and hip pains otherwise I can't stand as long as you do.

Have a great day everyone.

MEL- I'm glad you are back at your postings. You offer a different kind of flare with your wording for me. Sorry about your eye and having your DH to come and pick you up. You must have been feeling very bad. I hope you have a better day today.
BONNIE- I didn't read what happened with your cat but it sounds bad. I can imagine what happened and I hope your fine and doing well now.
MICHELE- How is Japan doing? I hear the nuclear problem is getting worse and worse. What's the real deal?
LYNN- How is your DH job deal and your new move coming along? I can't believe what you have been going through. It does sound like you two are very employable and will get through anything. I hope you are able to settle down and are able to relax for awhile.

I'm bowling practice today with my DW and our bowling league group. We only pay 50 cents per game on thursdays. That is what we get for being senior. It's our special rate, hahaha.
I can't wait for my new bowling ball to show up on my door steps. I hope before our next league day.
Happy Spark'n and have a great day,

Lois - Great your pics are all finished. I've never used 'Google' so much in my life as since I've joined SP. I looked up 'Lenten'. I was pretty sure it was re Lent but had to be certain.

Michele - Is that why you have Musical in front of your name; because you are actually musical?

Lynn - You are too kind. Sorry your job gives you sore feet. I can't think of anything to help except a good soaking in Epsom Salts every evening.

Auntie - More strange words .. durkee sauce. Is why unfortunately hundreds of recipes on SP are no good for me because I've never heard of some of the ingredients. Enjoy your work and especially your first pay. There is heaps of info. on the web re glycemic index and plenty of books around too.

Bonnie - So sorry to hear about your cat. Your cat is 89 human years old if he/she is 18. (thank you Google)

Steve - Great your hips check up went well. 7 strikes in a row bowling and 1 over par golfing, whew! That's pretty fine! Hope your new bowling ball suits.

I now have 1/2 a wobbly eye. I went shopping today and felt so disorientated I finally found a bench, sat down and rang DH to come pick me up. Promptly burst into tears when I finally got into the car. Stupid me, should never have gone. I'm OK now but have spent the afternoon in front of the telly eating lollies and chocolate sultanas. Dear oh dear ... bring on tomorrow and a fresh start.

Have a great Thursday everyone!.

Hi Everyone. Not much to say today. Daughter had an appointment and since it was an hour away, I drove her to and from and then went to work. Binged today - ugh! Will get back on track tomorrow.
Lois-I am so envious of you and your pics. I went to Europe last year and have not scrapbooked them yet and just returned from the Caribbean and have to scrapbook them as well. Next vacation will have to be spent at home. Where to start????
Bonnie-I am very sorry to hear about the cat. My St. Bernard had cancer in the left front leg 6 years ago. The vet gave her 3 weeks and she lived 6 months. You would not have known anything was wrong with her until the end. My thoughts will be with you so keep us posted.
Everyone else...nice reading your comments. They most certainly keep me going.

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I have only had a chance to get on here sporadically since I signed up due to my work schedule, but I have already gathered a lot of helpful information. My doctor recently told me not to go to the gym (first time I ever heard that) because it was cutting into my sleeping time. So I have bought a step dvd and step to do aerobics at home - hopefully I will remain motivated. Have a good night! emoticon

Boy, y'all are chatty. It will take me hours to read all your posts. Anyway, I broke down and decided to buy another bowling ball. I'm sure it will do what I'm looking for. It's coming from Ebay at a great price. Bowling balls are expensive, to say the least. I had 7 strikes in a row my last game in league yesterday. I golfed on Sunday. I walked 9 holes and shot my best on those 9 by shooting one over par and it felt so good. I hit every fairway with my driver and made 5 one putts. This round will last me emotionally for at least my next outing, hahaha. I hope you are all doing well. I had my X-rays of my two hip replacements today and it all looks good and no change since last year. That is good news. Have a good night y'all. Stevebowlinggolfdog.

Mel take it easy. You dont want to overdo it and get set back. Congrats on staying smoke free!

Lois congrats! Must feel good to check that off the list!

Michelle I just cant imagine what everyone is going through over there.

AD Woo Hoo!! Payday!!

Bonnie sorry to hear about your cat. We have a cat and a dog and I know it will be a very sad day around here when something happens to them.

Lista - we went to San Diego almost 15 years ago. I remember having a great time at the zoo. Are you going to get to Sea World at all?

Hi to everyone else!

My neighbor wasn't around tonight so just went with the dog. Actually ran a bit tonight - haven't done that for quite awhile. It's going to be getting colder and rainier the next few days plus will be busy so needed to be sure to get some exercise in tonight.

Have a great night

AUNTIE D

I actually am thinking that for me, I might just continue to eat the program foods part of the time even after this initial 15 weeks. Quite honestly, one of my main problems is I hate to cook just for me. So, when it is late, and I have nothing ready to eat, I stop and get fast food to bring home. So far, I am enjoying the food, but also know that I will eat out from time to time, etc. Tonight, I had breakfast food that I cooked myself for dinner. I stayed within all of my ranges, so I am happy with that.

I realize that I will have to take it one day at a time, because of exactly what you are stating. I am going to work on NOT getting tired of the food, and work for a balance. I have also done Jenny Craig, and many other programs and lost weight only to gain it back.

I think that the food is really qute good, so for now will just work on it. The main problem I have, is portion control. Hoping that I can get a better handle on that while I am using this food. I do think it is a good suggestion to figure out about the balance that they use. It really is keeping me, at least for now, from getting hungry.

It is like anything else, it works if I work it.

No worry about your concerns, I am already aware of them myself, and trying to deal with it while I am working on this.

Thinking of all of the rest of you, but kind of tired tonight.

Got bad news from my vet. My 18 year old cat does not have an infection, it is a tumor. He is not eating well, and now is just a matter of time. I am considering taking him in and having him put down on Saturday. Will consider it overnight, and probably call the office in the morning to make an appointment. Had a bit of hope, but now I know the reality.

Have a good rest of the week, and goodnight.

Hi All,

Sandy thanks for the update on the polish bread my grandmother used to take me to a store in Chelsea and we would order our bread on Monday and then go stand in line on Wednesday to get it. If we were late it was given away and we would have to wait another week to order. She called is Platsic but I think your pronunciation is right. My grandmother was polish and some of her words for things baffled me. I ask everyone if they knew the kind of bread and then I found a Portuguese sweetbread and I knew that I had it right. It tasted almost the same that I can remember. My aunt told me it was just raisin bread but i remember it being really sweet. I sure do miss my Nana. I always look at her picture and talk to her I tell her I want to be the great Nana she was to me to my grandkids.

Kielbasa- we cook it on the grill or we boil it or here is a great recipe
Cook in crock pot for 4 hrs on high or all day on low

2 bottles of Pancake maple syrup (diet, regular or lite)
1 jar of Aunt Nellie durkee sauce
add the kielbasa 2-3 lbs

It is really good makes a good party food.

Well I've been working and it feels weird to leave everyday but a good feeling. Tomorrow I receive my first paycheck. Can't wait to feel like a millionaire (ya I'm just wishing).
I've read all the post but just can't seem to catch up with them

Bonnie- I did the nutri system and lost over 100 lbs and once I stopped eating the food I gained it back plus . Be careful girlfriend learn what the glycemic index is that they use so that you can keep it going on your own. Don't want to sound like a downer it is a really good program and it works but I learned that I should have figured out the index for myself but then again I did their program in the 80's. Keep up the good work your motivation is keeping me going.

Mel - congrats on the smoking anniversary you have conquered quit a bit this year.

When I said I was taking the day off, I didn't realize how much of the day. Left this morning at 9:15 AM to pick up a friend and go to a funeral for the father (94years old) of one of our coffee group friends. Funeral at 10:00 AM and then to another venue for lunch. Wow, they really had a celebration of his life and, although I didn't know him everyone agreed that this is what he would have wanted. I just got home about 1/2 hour ago.

Have to do a few chores and get over to church for supper and Lenten service. Will check in again in the morning.

Hi Y'all,

I am working extra hours the next 2 weeks. The Easter clothes rush...I guess. It is fun to be busy but my feet are hurting. I change shoes every day and that does seem to help. Getting dh packed for his trip. He leaves Friday. His first week will be a short one, because of Good Friday. Since I will be alone for Easter, I might go to the breakfast at our church. It will give me something to do and I love seeing all the kids dressed up.

Lista....I went to the San Diego Zoo 35 years ago and I thought it was fabulous then. I can imagine what it is like now.

Lois....you sound like you are making great progress. You must have had a lot of pics.Keep up the good work!

Mel....I am glad we didn't have to go without your posts for 4-6 weeks. I think we would all be in withdrawal. And I mean that in a good way.

Steve....I think you did OK for your first bowling tournament. You will be in the money for the next one for sure. How many bowling balls do you have? I am seriously going to take bowling up again when I move to WI. It will give me something to do for the winter months. Bowing season in the Midwest is about the same as the school season. Labor Day until Memorial Day. Sept-May. he he I never even got to golf in St George or Charleston.

Bonnie...I am so glad that your spirits are lifting. Depression is a hard thing to live with. You are doing all the right things...keeping busy, eating right and exercising.

Time to go walking with the neighbors, Lynn

Lista I love the zoo. Haven't been in a while.
My window broke today, the frame part. The window doesn't stay open. Hmph! However, I can't really complain when people up north have lost more than just a window!
have a good thursday everyone.! Tomorrow (thurs) is my piano/ tone chime day. Can't wait!

Rosie - It's still raining outside on this very cool Autumn day in Tasmania. So much rain, we've had flooding in the strangest places. No exercise for me today. Not yet anyway because the gas bubble in my eye is wobbling all over the place and making me seasick.

Diana - Ham with potato salad actually sounds like a good idea. When I can get to shopping I think I'll see if I can find a nice ham. Thanks for that thought. Wow, your mother having her birthday on the same day makes about a dozen people I know whose day is the 24th. Popular day.

Lynn - rotflmao !!

Lista - You are having a grand time of it on your holiday!

Enjoy your Wednesday everyone.

Spent the day at the San Diego zoo. Very fun. But boy am I tired. Walked almost 15,000 steps according to my pedometer. Back to the hotel to sit in the hot tub. Got some tan going. Yeah!

Good joke Lynn.

Today was such a beautiful day - upper 60's. Enjoyed a walk with my dog and my neighbor. The temps are going to be dropping a lot in the next few days. Looking forward to when the temps stay up and stop doing these drops.

Have a great night everyone!!

When Love Fades

Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV

when I heard my wife's voice from the kitchen:

"What would you like for dinner, my love? Chicken, Beef or Lamb?"

I said, "Thank you, dear, I think I'll have chicken."

She replied , "You're having soup, stupid. I was talking to the cat!"

Good day all. I am going on the treadmill in a few minutes to begin the 5km walk/jog challenge. Then I am going to walk the dog if I can still move :). It's my 1st day back at work to end my 2 week vacation. My shift starts at 2pm and eager to see my friends and get my brain working again.

Mel, my mother's birthday is also on Easter sunday. We will be staying with her that weekend and having ham/potato salad/tossed salad and whatever else she comes up with. My girls will probably make cupcakes and decorate them for her birthday. Good Friday is church and fish and chips.

Steve, I have my golf fundraiser this Sunday evening. Hope I don't see too many gutter balls. I would like to finish in the 130's or higher. I don't think my sausage fingers will fit in the holes of my ball that is now 28 years old. Wish me luck.
Have a great Sparkin day everyone.

Bonnie sounds like you had a great day yesterday, and your dress sounds really nice what a great idea buying material you only have to sew the sides and hem.
Martha I want to buy a Wll fit but I will wait till I go back to Australia I have heard such good things about them.
Mel I hope your resting and not doing to much, how is the weather in Tassie.
Have a great day every one.

I'm used Wii to get the heart pumping! Could only do ten minutes so will do two more times to get the 30 minutes; don't have a lot of stamina but think this will improve with time.

Hi all,

I've been so busy the last few days I haven't had a chance to post - but have been reading all of yours. Unfortunately I haven't had time to exercise either. Although, went shopping last night first by myself and then with DD. By the time I got home, my legs were sore so I must have walked a few miles all around the mall. It is always a challenge shopping for DD. We were trying to find a pair of khaki pants, not crops or capris but full length pants. If she was a size 8 or above it would not have been a problem. But she is a size 0!! I don't think I was ever a size 0!!!! And she is tall too.We finally found a pair for her.

Tonight I should be able to get a walk in. Definitely going to make every effor to since it is supposed to be in the 70's today but then take a dramatic plunge into the 40's and 50's for the next few days.

Have a great day all!
