Bonnie - Kielbasa is maybe something like chorizo. Thanks for your very kind words girlfriend. It sure sounds like you enjoyed your day. Bonnie of course you don't feel like you're on a diet!!! It's a lifestyle change remember??? not a diet!!!

Lois - Sorting through the pictures, yes, would bring back so many memories. It would take me years if I started doing something like that. Enjoy your reading.

Lynn - DH's new job sounds awfully impressive. Hope it all works out hassle free for you. Yes the girl/boyfriends on this forum stick to you like glue, eh Lynn? lol. We'd follow you somehow if you didn't take us along.

Sandy - Your traditional Easter sounds wonderful. We used to make Easter really special once upon a time but don't anymore. Our Easter now is Hot Cross Buns and fish on Good Friday and the giving of easter eggs on Easter Sunday. It's also my birthday on Easter Sunday this year.

It's 3:15 a.m. Tuesday for most of you, as its 7:15pm here in Tasmania, so have a great Tuesday.

Sandy, it took you three weeks to weed through the pictures. I feel like I have been doing it forever. Of course, one of the problems is stopping and and reliving where, when and who. I also find that I really need to have a break now and then so I can be a little more objective about what to keep and what to toss.

Signing off for the evening to do some reading. Have two book clubs coming up and need to finish one of the books. Will check back in the AM.

Just stopping by to say goodnight. Had a good day. Went to the Y to work out. Ran around most of the day, went to the fabric store with my mom. Found a material that already has the elastic at the top, and a long bottom that just needs to be sewn up a seam, and turned up a hem. Bought it, and mom is going to do it for me for around the house and pool in the summer. Material was on sake, so it cost me about $12.

Kind of wish I had bought the other pattern. May still do so.

Bought new walking shoes. I prefer the New Balance toners. I have not had any problems at all with my heel spurs for the at least a year, maybe even two that I have been wearing the toners. My back and legs are hurting so bad, kept blaming it on the housework a few weeks ago, but realized I needed new shoes. I bought a pair, and ordered two more. The Dick's sporting good, went to two of them, did not have one pair of size tens. But they were on sale for $70.00. that is where I ordered the two pair from, and paid $100.00 at a local store that carries really good shoes. Had to have a pair today.

went to the Y after and worked out for a bit, ran a couple more errands. Will probably be up kind of late because I did the Y later than usual, but don't have to be to Christy's until 9:00am, so that should work. Weds, at 6:45am, and then 9:00am again on Thursday.

Had a very good day.

Have to say that I am very surprised that I am enjoying the Nutrisystem food so much. I am very surprised. Don't feel like I am on a diet, and that is a good thing!

God Bless and good night.

Bonnie

Let's see, Bonnie had it right but there quite a few different ways that kielbasa is made. My one grandmother used to live over a butcher shop in a Polish/Slovak area of the city. They had fresh pig and garlic and spices. Best ever had. Then our local big box store (BJ's) carried a kielbsa called Old World. That was the closest to the butcher shop. No longer at the store. Usually just buy Hillshire's brand though I think the casing kind of tough some times. For everyday breakfast we fry it but for Easter I boil it.

Our tradition for Easter is on Good Friday, I boil the kielbasa, cook the ham, make an egg cheese called Cedoc, boil my eggs and purchase a sweet bread called Paska. This is a round bread with raisins. I also make a beet horseradish. Used to make it the way my mom did with cookinh the beets and grating fresh horseradish. But being a busy mom, I found my short cuts with canned beets and bottled horseradish. Even make some for friends that just love the stuff. On Holy Saturday, go to local church with a basket of food to be blessed and eaten that night. This includes all of the above, plus a shaker of salt to be used thru the year. Then Easter sunday the family arrives and we feast again. Nothing but eating after the Lenten season.

So I am a busy woman all the time.

Mel; Congrats on 3 months of being smoke free! emoticon emoticon

Seemed like today would never end. Spent the morning at DS's with the girls going thru their summer clothes to see what they would need. That was soooo much fun. LOL
Then over to DD's to get her lunch and off for the Grandchildren pickup from school. DD is so bored even though she has her computer by her, her phone, her 36" tv with dvr and Netflix and a box of books I gave her to read. She has PT weds. and stitches out Fri.
DGD going to science camp next week for 3 days so one less body to worry about. May give me time to get some things done around here.

Forget who is going thru pictures. Did that in January. Took me about 3 weeks to weed thru them, & put them in new binders. I threw an awful lot away. I even had my mom's albums. Saved what I wanted and shredded the rest. Even got rid of negatives. Most of my newer pics arre on disc or in the computer. Freed up to rubbermaid tubs for other uses. Have fun, there is an end.

Off to finish my laundry and have another cup of coffee. Take care. emoticon

Hi Y'all,

The second realtor was just here. The company requires 2. They both seem good, but we have to decide who gets the listing. DH went to get new tires on his SUV, he needs them badly. He leaves for WI on Friday. He starts his new job as the Global Marketing Director on Mon. Things are really moving along pretty quickly. I have not told my work, but I could be here another 6 months or more if the house doesn't sell. Two of the girls (who are 70+) that I work with live in my townhouse complex and they will know when the sign goes up. I will tell them tonight at work. Have a great week, Lynn

The best part about moving is I get to take you all along with me!!!

I Know you will figure it out! Good going!

MEL

Glad we had the same reference! I will let Sandy tell you more about kielbasa, but I will tell you it is a polish sausage that is extremely yummy! I can imagine that the soup she makes is also wonderful!

OMG

There has been so much going on, that I kind of forgot you used to be a smoker! Three months is wonderful! So proud of you for the achievement!

You have been though a lot it appears in the last couple of years. I am very proud of the strength you must have to have been able to quite smoking in the midst of it, and to go through it all with such grace. God Bless.

It is warm and dreary here today! Rained in the night, and not sure it it will do more today or not. That's ok, 83 degrees was too warm this early to not be followed by rain! Today it is 66. I can be happy with that.

Wishing you all a great day, and for some of us night!
God Bless my friends.

Stevebowlingdog - Even so, your scores were commendable. I would be very happy indeed if I could bowl like that consistently. Pity you finished up with sour milk, lol. Yes, being in the money is a good goal.
emoticon
Rosie - No probs. girlfriend; anytime. Good luck with it all. I would guess and say skype is some sort of web cam that you could talk plus see your family. How marvellous for you and yes, I reckon I would be teary afterwards too.

Kathy - Wish it was mandatory for all restaurants and take-aways to put the calorie content on menus. Such a great idea.

I googled cochlear implant and probably years ago you would've been in hospital for a week or more with that type of surgery. These days every possible procedure is day surgery. Probably saves a lot of infections that way, as long as the patient does the right thing when they get home. I had part of my breast taken away with breast cancer 18 months ago and that was day surgery, and my friend had her ovaries removed. Yes, that was day surgery too. Unbelievable!

Bonnie - Lol, yes we have an Australian energizer bunny too! Isn't that something? I really love him/them tapping away on his/their little drum/s the best. Wow I just had a thought too that he must be closely related to the Easter bunny who must be energy-plus to get all around the world delivering his eggs in such a short time. Smiles.

Sandy - Isn't it just so grand to be able to sit on a swing in the sunshine and contemplate the world. A lovely way to spend your day. What is kielbasi? Sorry to hear you have allergies. Not pleasant.

It's only 2 weeks since my operation and I can see a tiny bit out of the top of my eye.
emoticon
The rest is a very unstable black bubble that only stays still when my head is completely still. Very strange and unbalancing feeling.

Today is my 3month-smokefree-versary! Another emoticon

You all have the best Monday now and more positives to ya!

Thanks for all the encouragement. I spent over an hour researching different types of bowling balls and talked to the guy who drills them for me. I think I've narrowed it down to two urethane bowling balls. I'm going to use, Ask yahoo and see what other bowlers say about my choices. Have you ever done that before? I find a lot of stuff out that I can't find that way. I found what was wrong with my lawn mower carburettor once that way. It saved me a lot of mula too. I know that ball in my mind, or dream will work for those types of conditions. One doesn't have to win. Being in the money is my first goal. Have a good night. Stevebowlinggolfdog

What a glorious day! Sun was out all day, up to 80, took a ride with the top down in my PT cruiser, and worked in the yard for a couple hours. Then just sat on the swing and enjoyed the air. Had windows open and fans going even though it was windy still parts of house that don't get the breeze. Also went to another art show the a couple of our DGD's were in. The 6 1/2 yr. old got 2nd place in her age group. I'l get the pics off my camera and show them to you later.

Bonnie: All my SIL's bring something for Easter dinner. One brings potatos, one dessert, and DIL brings salad. I supply the ham and fruit salad, bread and drinks. Also make my Grandmothers Kielbasi and horseradish soup. It starts with a chicken broth base and I just add the kielbasi, hard boiled eggs cut up and horseradish. Never have a drop left. Serve that with bread or cheese kuchen.

Steve: you will do better next time. I have faith in you. I can see the prize winnings rolling into your pocket.

Mel: glad the healing is going well and you had a nice visit with you GS. I get my cuties again tomorrow. Have another busy week ahead and thankfully DH is helping out.

Tired and stuffy. Allergies already! Know tree pollen was high and mold spores. With dealing with dead vegetation guess the sinus's don't like it.

Have a great week all. Will keep checking in. Sunshine to ya! emoticon

LOIS

I enjoy playing cribbage. Don't get much chance, but it is fun. My friend's Amy's son Zach, was absolutely thrilled the last time they were all over to my house because he beat me royally!

When my oldest uncle died, about twenty years ago, he would be 100 years old this year, I inherited the table that he had made, (he was a good carpenter), and have ti on my enclosed front porch. I love having it because I can still see him, Uncle Haldon, and my other Uncle Don playing cribbage at that table in Uncle Haldon and Aunt Phyllis' kitchen. Funny how inanimate objects can mean so much to you!

DIANA

Welcome back! I went on a cruise about 35 years ago with my cousin, Bob, and I have never forgotten the experience. Would love to go again some day.

Glad you enjoyed it, but I sympathize with all of the work when you get home.

Sounds as though you got a lot of exercise, that is great.

KATHY

Hope you got everything done today, made me tired just thinking of it!

Yes, I guess life is just a "state of mind". have to keep working on it all of the time.

Kind of tired today. I think my body is adjusting to the new eating habits. Plus, eating the better foods, is kind of acting like a "cleanse" for my body. My weight is down quite a bit, so I know I have lost a lot of water. I know I will stabilize in a bit. I have one more day of rest before beginning my babysitting on Tuesday.

ROSIE

Glad you enjoyed your visit with your loved ones today. I can see how hard that is on you too. Prayers that you get to go home very soon!

STEVE

That was your "practice round". You will get better and better. I have faith in you!

MEL

So happy you are recovering so fast. You are like the energizer bunny, you just keep going and going and going. Funny, after I wrote that, I am wondering if you have that reference. Let me know if it makes any sense to you!

I suspect that your family came to see you today because they knew you would be home. I know that "no grass grows under your feet". Ok, let me know if you have that reference too. This is kind of fun!

God Bless my friends and enjoy the rest of your day!

Bonnie

Good Morning everyone! Right now the sun is shining, but we are expecting rain today and looks like most of the rest of the week.

Kathy, family is equally as important. I guess because being an only child and my husband was an only child and both of the parents and grandparents are gone friends are part of my family. My family consists of my two children and their families. Of course, when you get to 82 many are gone.

Lista. great vacation. A cruise is not something that I have ever done, but hear they are wonderful.

Steven, great bowling! My husband was a bowling and cribbage playing fanatic, but bowling was never my specialty.

Mel, take care of yourself and don't try to overdo. You are in my prayers.

Wishing a great day to everyone.

Hi all. I have missed you and it looks like so much has happened in the 2 weeks I was away. Our family went on a Caribbean cruise and it was too expensive to use the internet on the ship so I had to stay off. I did a 4.8km cancer walk on the ship and then did a 5km walk today on our trail as part of the Sparks 5km challenge Good luck with the bowling Steve-I know you will do gr8. Lynn, I have had many ID10T's at work. People just roll their eyes at me, but at least I am giving them something to laugh about. Finishing 2 weeks of laundry and will cook and clean today so have a gr8 one everyone. I will check in again later. Bye friends.

Lista-Your vacation sounds heavenly! Wish I could sit beside you and while the hours away, chatting and relaxing! Enjoy your week and savor every moment!

Mel-The FDA has recently mandated that all restaurants with 15 or more stores must put their nutritional information next to the food items in the menu. That's going to open a lot of people's eyes. I think it will help tremendously for those wanting/needing to know how many calories, sodium, fat, etc are in items they are considering! Please DO take it easy-you DID just have major surgery, ya know. I went through this twice in the last two years. My first surgery was outpatient and I thought I'd be back to normal in just a few days. Boy, was I wrong! I went back to work too soon and had to stay home a little longer! (I had a cochlear implant implanted in my head and went home the same day) I was quite dizzy for awhile-even just walking up and down the stairs was a challenge. Treat your body kindly!! How wonderful to have the visit from your DS and DIL! That must have made your day. :-)

Steve-You are so funny! You sound like a little boy with your excitement about the bowling competitions you are finding! Even though you did not win yesterday, it does sound like you had fun. :-)

Lynn-Funny about the 11 year old joke!! I gotta tell DH that one..or maybe I shouldn't; he may use that against me!! He is an IT guy at work. :-p

Sandy-I'm so glad you mentioned Easter is just two weeks away-wow! I need to mail some things to my step children. I don't do baskets, per se, but I do buy candy for everyone, including DH, even though the kids are all in their 20s. :-) My step daughter lives with her boyfriend and he has a 7 year old son, so I send things for him as well. I found a cute box with sort of thick, "flex" plastic to put things in after the candy is gone.

It is supposed to be warm here, today as well. I am hoping to go for a run; however, it looks like it might rain. Hope I can get the run in before it does rain.

Mary-You and your DH sure have been busy with your house! I'd love to see some before and after pictures when you are done. DH is going to finish installing wood floors on our stairs, then that project will finally be done. We plan to fence in our entire backyard this summer, which is something we've wanted to do since we bought this house over 5 years ago. I'm used to having my privacy and miss it. We also want our dog to have freedom to roam instead of being tied to a rope when he wants to go outside. Not fair to him. :-/

Lois-Your group of friends sounds very special. It is such a blessing to have a close group of friends. I don't really have that here. It's hard to find deaf people nearby that have similar interests to mine. Really, DH and I are introverts; we are happy being at home and don't go out or invite people over much. Most of our interactions are with family, which is very important to us.

Bonnie, funny thing about how we go back to our old way of thinking. It happens in the blink of an eye. I do that with exercising. I know I truly enjoy it once I get going and the euphoria I feel afterwards makes me think 'I have to remember how good it feels afterward", but I forget time and time again. I remember when I used to look forward to my workouts when I was in my 30s and early 40s! I've got to get my mojo back on a regular basis! I see this in my work daily, too. Clients learning to change their way of thinking regarding their emotions and behaviors; it takes time to develop new habits, which is something we ALL need to recognize. We have to be patient with ourselves as we develop these new habits and ways of thinking!

I'll be checking in again later. Today, I plan to return some clothes at a store (didn't like the colors in natural light), fill my car up with gas for the week, clean the house, wash clothes, exercise and meet with someone from work at 4 (we are starting two group therapy groups tomorrow-social skills group and co-occurring group) and need to work on our curriculum some more. Thankfully, we live near each other in MD!! (our work is in VA) Wow-didn't realize I have such a busy day lined up. I better get started on it soon!!

MEL- I'm glad you are up and att'm again. I guess I need to go down the list of posts and find out more. Anyway...... I did not bring home the bacon. I had sour milk, hahaha.

I bowled my first tournament yesterday and almost made it to the top 18. They threw this reverse block onto the lanes where it was faster from the 9 board out and so dry inside. My reactive resin ball could not be used and I could not find any oil all the way to the 20 board so I felt I had to try my plastic ball only. It was a very hard shot with no room for error and I played a very tight shot down the 12 board. I saw this guy throw the ball out from around the 20 board and it took off immediately and he got a gutter ball on the left side. I was shocked and it was laughable. I also saw several gutter balls on the right side too. It was laughable bowling. I shot a dismal 187, 179 and 190 and almost still made it. Hahahaha. I really need a ball that hooked just a little bit more then my plastic ball. That is my conclusion. I have a great day y'all and happy spark'n. Stevebowlinggolfdog.

Good Sunday afternoon all.

Steve - Best of luck with your bowling mate. Yep, sure hope you bring home the bacon!

Lynn - Always lots going on with a move. You sound very much in control. Lol, I've never heard of 'silver surfers'. That is so cool. Love the ID10T error. Great to have a laugh today.

Sandy - So funny with your hubby's corrections. You certainly have a lot of people at your dinners. Lots of work there. Where on earth do you put all those people? You must have a big home. I didn't have a patch on my eye at all. Another few weeks before I'll be able to see. Thanks for asking.

Mary - Great the rooms are all painted. Wow, huge reno's you and hubby are undertaking. Hope your DH is better now. The young ones always love sleeping out, don't they.

Lista - Swap you places today. It's pretty cold here. Our days are getting decidedly cooler and shorter as Winter approached. I am definitely NOT a Winter person. So pleased someone is enjoying sunshine though.

Lois - I am smiling and telling you I love you. Does make me feel good too.

Bonnie - After reading your most positive blog today I would say your mojo is back with a vengeance!!!

I had a surprise visit from DS and DIL with my 2 grandies this afternoon and they stayed for just over an hour. I was so happy to see them (out of one eye anyway, lol) as it's the first time this year they have visited my home.

Have a great sparkin' Sunday everyone!

ROSIE - Wow, how good are you girlfriend! Only just learning the computer and you've managed to navigate SparkPeople. Well done! An easy way to copy/paste into a document is to right mouse click at the beginning of what you want to copy, then hold your pinky on the 'Shift' key and go to the end of what you want to copy and right mouse click again. Take your pinky off the 'Shift' key and what you are copying will be highlighted. Press down the 'Ctrl' key and while it's down press down the 'C' on the keyboard. This will copy what is highlighted. Then go to where ever you want to paste the stuff you have just copied, and right mouse click the position you want it to appear on the page. Then press the 'Ctrl' key and while it's down press the 'V' on the keyboard. Hey presto!! S'magic!! Hope that helps you girlfriend.

Thank God for our friends. I have quite a few friends in real time, and of course all of you guys, that I treasure beyond belief.

My 84 year ofd mother has "club" once a week when they can, or every other week, with the "girls" she went to high school with. She says they have always been each other's therapy!

Glad you had a heartfelt time with yours.

LISTA

Glad you are enjoying yourself so much. Have a great rest of the time too!

MARY

I so know about the never ending projects. Not sure when Dennis is going to get the upstairs finished either, but at least I don't have to do anything but spend the money to buy stuff. And because of being upstairs, I am not living with it.

However, in the past, I have been in your position with projects that don't go according to plan, so I can truly emphathize.

Hope you did not get rained on, and had a good time!

Wonder if DS's illness was from nerves? Taking that test had to be stressful. Hope he is better.

SANDY

Have a suggestion for you to consider regarding Easter. Have it catered, or buy the dinners that they make at the grocery store. Around here, some restaurants are open, and maybe you could order ahead. I am sure it will be expensive for that many people, but if you can afford it, do it for your own well being. you have much on you right now. If that is not reasonable, see if the family would do it potluck just this once. Good luck whatever you do.

LYNN

LOL! you really got me with that one, I am still laughing! So funny.

Good luck with the move and the realtor and all of that!

STEVE

Wishing you a great time and good scores at your tournament!

MEL

Thanks for the encouragement. You all are the reason that I only gained 20 pounds, while I was waiting to get my mojo back! Yea for all of you!

DALE

Good luck with your convention. It certainly sounds like a worthwhile occasion!

KATHY

Have been wondering where you were. Was going to send you a message if I did not see you today! Good to see you.

Thanks also for the good words. You guys are just the best.

I too wish I was closer to Akron. I looked on the map and I am about the same distance to the West, I think it was, as you will be coming when you begin going East from your home. Tried to figure out a way I could get there, but just is not practical. Maybe another time!

Have a great visit with your other friends!

I am good again today. I feel as though a fog has been lifted from over me, just because I realized that I had allowed myself to get back into that $%^& old diet mentality. I am so much more confident, less compulsive, and relaxed about food today again. Wow, how quickly we can forget such an important lesson. I am repeating it again, this journey is a lifestyle change, NOT a diet! Don't have to eat everything I may ever want today, because I am going on a diet tomorrow! Funny how just one thought can make it all click again!
Thank God.

I am actually enjoying the Nutrisystem food, and with the stuff I have to supplement it with, I am very satisfied, and NOT hungry! Yea!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friends, I am going to!

God Bless

Just dropping in to say "Hi". This has been a day for a lot of reflection. My friend whose 12 year old grandson took his own life last month was with us today at coffee. Other than seeing her at the funeral she has not been with us. It was so good to see her and just talk. There were tears, laughter, sharing love and concern. I treasure this group beyond words and what we have together is priceless.

Have read the posts and wish you all well and will be back on board tomorrow. Smile and tell someone you love them. Good Night for now.

Getting my share of Vitamin D via the sun. Sat by the pool all day long. Not exactly hot here but in the sun it was great. Read a lot and just relaxed.

Basement remodeling update - all rooms are now painted - yeah!!!! Bathroom is tiled. Tomorrow DH is going to work on putting all the light switches and outlets in. Next week someone from Costco carpeting is coming over with some samples. Moving along. I was hoping it would be finished by Easter but it's not looking like that will happen. Hopefully by the end of May. DH and I both want to enjoy our summer. However, when we put in the egress windows, we had to tear out all the landscaping around the house. So that's waiting for us too.nn emoticon

Heading to the Twins baseball game tonight. They are saying the rain should hold off until after the game. Hope they are right for a change. We are going with some friends who got tickets from their son for Jerry's bday. So I'm assuming we are getting a free ride. Makes it even better. I'm not a huge baseball fan. I usually miss the big plays because I'm too busy people watching or chatting with someone.

Poor DS was sick last night. Vomited several times and then took the ACT test this morning. Felt really sorry for him. He came home and went right to bed. He said he is feeling ok now but he didn't get much sleep. Hope he did ok on the test.

DD and 2 friends slept in the backyard in our tent last night. They took a bunch of blankets out and then came in later and got a few more. I think it got down into the 40's last night so it wasn't all that warm. But I guess they had a lot of fun.

Have a great day everyone!!

Oh Lynn that was hysterical! Just like me this morning. DH e-mailed me something he had written to correct and send back. Well I corrected it, saved it and tried to send it back and the computer kept telling me they couldn't find his something orother to send it back to him..
So I called DH and told him I was having a problem and he proceeded to tell me how to make it an attachment, I did not understand and told him if he was at his computer I would tell him the corrections over the phone. LOL! I am so nontechie. Now he wants me to take a class. That is his answer to everything. When I would have the time I have no idea.

Glad to here things running smoothly for the next move. At least you didn't have ALL the boxes unpacked. You are getting to be quite a pro at moving.

STeve- Good luck in your tourney.

The week flew by and Easter only 2 away. Have so much to do and squeeze in taking DD to PT besides the usual duties with the DGD's. They may not get their usual Easter baskets from G-ma this year if I don't have time to get them done. Usually have 25-35 for Easter dinner. The SIL's in town take a holiday every year. Mine is Easter. Then I do the big picnic on Labor day for DH's side of the family. That can be anywhere from 40 to 65 for a cookout.
Always something going on in this family.

Looking forward to super warm day (78) tomorrow just to open the windows in the house.

Mel, glad surgery went well and you are feeling good enough to chime in. Don't remember if you said how long the patch needed to be on.

Well off to get something else done before we head to church services at 4.

Have a good weekend all! emoticon emoticon emoticon

As we "Silver Surfers" (older folks on the Internet) know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.
I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the eleven year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over.
Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?
He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired,
'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'
Eric grinned.... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?
'No,' I replied.
'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down:

ID10T

I used to like Eric, that little brat.

Hi Y'all,

The realtor was here yesterday and she will have her report done by Tues. The moving company will send someone out on Monday to access the move. Actually we travel pretty light these days and this is our 4th cross country move in less than 3 years. DH is trying to get his chores done before he leaves on Friday. The realtor in WI has found him an apt to stay in until the house sells and I move. I don't know how long it will take to sell the house. Lots going on.

Well, I am off to work 2-9. I will check in when I get home, Lynn

Well, I was going to play golf today but last night I came across this bowling tournament that will use my average even though it is not USBC sanctioned. It's what I've been looking for and they do have a senior division and a scratch division. I hope I can win some mula and bring home the bacon, hahaha. I plan to golf tomorrow after church. The weather is getting so nice around here. My hot tub went on the brink and it looked like the motherboard went bad so I found one and ordered. My wife is so happy because it started right up. I just love it when things come together.
Y'all have a great day and I'll tell you how my first bowling tournament went after about 17 years of non bowling. I am soooo excited. Stevebowlinggolfdog emoticon

Good Saturday afternoon all.

Michele - Be safe.

Lois - Are you 'still' sorting photos. Been at it for a long time. My albums stacked on top of each other are about 4 feet high; the culmination of all lifetime pics. Have always put them in albums since I was a kid.

Bonnie - You are certainly positive with your new lifestyle and making great food choices. Well done!

Kathy - Thanks for your kind words and the massage is much needed I can tell you! Lovely! I actually got in an hour's exercise this morning, but must admit, it did leave me a little shaky, lol. Kinda weird with the balance, but hey, I'm getting there.

Lista - What a great idea putting the calories next to the food on the menus. I think a person would be more inclined to eat out if they did that here, as long as they are accurate. Sounds like you are enjoying yourself. Great stuff!

Have a great sparkin' Saturday everyone!

Spending the next 3 days in Rancho Bernardo, California at a lovely resort. I wish it was warmer. It is very windy. But I will sit outside and eat lunch when I can. Plus the pool is heated so you might find me there. Why does 60 degrees in California seem colder than in Minnesota. Oh well, it is beautiful here. Flowers are in bloom and they have green grass and leaves on the trees. Walked along the beach in Laguna Beach today. I love water and the waves were mesmerizing.
I love how so many restaurants are putting the calorie count right in their menus. That sure helps you make up your mind or decide to split a meal.

Mel - so glad to see that you are recovering so well. Keep it up.

RW - you have the best jokes. Thanks for that. I love to laugh.

Hey Kathy,
I am still alive and well. With the world service conference for nicotine-anonymous at the end of this month, the tasks to host the event are extensive.

Walking Centennial and Wilde Lake regularly though, thank goodness.

TGIF!! Hello, my dear friends. :-)

AD-I'm so sorry to hear of your sister in law's death-it's especially difficult when it is sudden like this. You will all be in my prayers. I'm glad your job is going fairly well; hope it continues to!

Bonnie-Good to hear from you! :-) Glad today and yesterday were good days for you! Always nice to hear that. GIving a cat medicine is a two person job!! I don't envy you trying to do it on your own-I wonder how many calories SP would consider that "exercise"??

Limastar-Isn't this weather we are having just nuts?! I truly never know how to dress for work each day! I just hope this weekend is better. I had a chance to run outside yesterday, which felt sooo good! I'm not doing anything tonight-just vegging out. :-/ Oh darn-just read the weather won't be so great. Good thing I have my elliptical to use!

Michele-I read about the latest earthquake to hit Japan yesterday. Such a tragedy. People must be feeling so vulnerable right now! :-/ My prayers go out to everyone in Japan.

Lista-Thanks for staying in touch with us while you are on vacation! I'm so glad you are enjoying your time in CA! :-)

Mel-You amaze me!! I'm so glad you are up and around when you can and especially glad you are checking in with us. Many of us have wondered how you are doing. I hope and pray your recovery goes quickly and you regain sight in your eye soon. Wow-that's great that you can do some walking! Just take it slow and easy....

RW-As always, you come up with cute jokes. Thanks for the smile I got from that! :-)

Lynn-Whew-You are going to be a busy beaver, aren't you? I hope you are looking forward to living in WI! I'm so glad the job hunt for your DH is finally over. It does sound like this company is really supportive of its employees! I'm impressed...Good luck and don't forget to keep up with your nutrition and fitness routines!!

Lois-I dread the thought of going through all my pictures. I really should take a week off to do just that (yeah, right). There are so many in boxes that are not labeled, unfortunately. Good luck to you!!

Hi Dale! Good to see you on here!

Looking forward to relaxing this weekend. The last couple of weeks at work have been pretty stressful. I'll be off next Thur and Fri. Friday, I'm going to Akron, Ohio to meet up with two Canadian friends that I haven't seen in about 6 years! We are going to hang out and attend a rubber stamping convention there on Sat and Sun. Should be a lot of fun. WIsh Bonnie lived closer! :-/ Sniff.....

Had a long and busy day yesterday, so I missed you all! Have been busy all day today, but it has been a good day.

My cousin came this morning to clean my house. I am still hurting from the last time I cleaned it myself, so I guess I will have help. You would think that I wouldn't be busy, but seems like I am always doing something when she is here. But we get to visit a bit too.

Then went to the Vet and picked up more antibiotics for my old cat Orea. Not sure I told you, but the growth on his throat that I thought was cancer, seems tobe an abcess. That is what Dan, my vet, said. So trying to get meds into him has been a bit of a challenge. He is not too bad about it, but the coordination required to put the drops back in his throat and then close his mouth in time to keep it from coming back out seems to be missing in me! Last night I began putting it in moist food, and he will take it that way much easier. So, had to get more meds since I lost so much of it. Hoping that this course of anitbiotics heals him. It is really big and hard. I thought he was just going to die, but now it seems it should be ok. He is at least 18 years old.

Stopped at the cell phone store and made changes in my plan, etc. Then went ot the Vitamin Shoppe.Watched Dr Oz the other day and he says that we should be taking omega 3 supplements. Made sense to me as I know I do not get enough in my food. Bought that, and a can of Protein powder.

I began the Nutrisystem program today. Was going to wait until Sunday because I had dinner plans tonight, but decided that I wanted to get started. I had hummus, cut up veggies and pita bread for my dinner out, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was surprised that the food from the program tasted pretty good, for breakfast and lunch.

I also have to supplement the meals with meat, or dairy or protein powder. Went to the grocery and bought chicken, cottage cheese, cheese, yogurt, fresh veggies and fruit, so I should be set for at least a week or so.

I am feeling good about my decision to make a change since I have not been able to get back onto my own program.

RW Loved the joke! Funny!

Lois,

I was interested to hear about your three lives. I thought I was the only one who felt that way about their life. I guess my life through high school would be one, then my college years, and the twenties into the late thirties, I guess another would be from that time until I retired at age 54, almost 55. Now, I am in my retirement years, but when all of the kids, (I babysit for my twin nieces' children now since retirement) go to school next year, and the following year, I will be going in a new direction as well.

MICHELLE

Geez, can't you guys get a break? Not another earthquake. Glad it wasn't too bad. Good luck on your trip to help your family. God Bless your trip.

MEL

You are doing so great, and I am soooo glad!

LOIS

Glad you are having a fun day today!

MARY

Glad you had a better weather day today. We are supposed to warm up tomorrow, and be at 80 degrees on Sunday. Hate to complain, but couldn't we just have some nice spring weather for ahwhile. Think it is going to get cold and rainy after that, I don't know, can't keep up!

AD

Good you had better weather too. I am getting to think maybe winter is really going to be over!

ROSIE

Hope you had a good weekend!

LYNN

Good luck with all of the changes in your life. I think you are handling all of this so well. Good for you. I am so staid and set in my ways, I am afraid that I would not be doing as well as you are. Kudos.

BRENDA

Dennis came yesterday and turned the water heater back on. So, I am good to go. Thanks for the good thoughts.

LISTA

Thanks for the encouragement. I am feeling much more positive today.
Enjoy that lovely sunshine, and have a wonderful trip!

LIMASTAR

Hope you were able to enjoy your lovely day today! Seems we are all into the weather right now!

Have a lovely weekend all, and Rosie Have a good start to the week!

It is another beautiful Spring day. Having lunch to day with friends that I volunteered with at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. It is always fun to get together with them and we meet once a month. Going to stop at a Consignment Store on my way home - got some items that maybe I can get a little money for. Of course, you know what I will be doing when I get home.

Will be back this afternoon and get some more chatting in. Have a great day, everyone.

Howdy to you all on this lovely, sunny Friday. 25 Celcius or 77 Fahrenheit. Whichever way you read it, it's a grand Autumn/Fall day in OZ Land.

RW - That was just sooooooo funny! I thought I knew just about every joke ever told, but haven't heard that one.

Lynn - Sounds like you are on the move again. You say 'cleaning like crazy' but you wouldn't have been there long enough to get anything too dirty, lol. Sure hope all works out for you and thanks for your words and prayers.

Lois - I have had 3 lives too, so far. A little different to yours, but still 3 lives. Let's hope we are like cats and get to have 9 lives a piece. That would be cool.

Rosie - Thanks girlfriend. Enjoy your weekend. It's Friday, almost evening here in Tasmania. I got sick of 'black hole' posts so I type my posts up in Microsoft Word and then copy/paste into SP. Saves a few headaches.

Auntie - Forgot to ask you about your new job. Hope it's a good one and you are happy in the position.

Michele - So pleased to know that you're OK in your wobbly world. Can't be much fun but you've got spirit girlfriend, so stay loose.

Mary - It's great to be back in the land of the living ... well, virtual living, lol.

Saw the eye surgeon this morning and he said all's well and I should be able to see a little out of my left eye in about 4 weeks time. I am allowed to walk so I have chosen to do a couple of miles with Leslie Sansone every morning. It's a bit frustrating as I wish I could exercise more, but will just have to be patient.

Have a great sparkin' Friday everyone!

Hi all,

Michelle - I think of you often. You have all been through so much!

Mel - welcome back!! Wishing you a speed recovery.

RW - good joke

Margaret - how's the knee doing?

Lois - sounds like you just keep making good progress. Feel free to hop on over to EP when you finish. I could use some help. emoticon

AD - we finally hit 60 degrees today. The weather person said it has been something like 140 days since the last time we were in the 60's. My neighbor pointed out that is almost half a year!!!

Rosie - enjoy your weekend. Can't wait for mine to start.

Lynn - your head must be spinning with everything happening so fast!

Brenda - sending you some sunshine! emoticon

Have a great night!!

Still working on going through the pictures. I always seem to get waylaid in thinking about who is in the picture and when and where it was taken. Believe it or not I have really gotten rid of lots simply because my children would not have any idea who or where. You see, I have had three lives - my growing up years, my marriage years which ended when I was 42 when my husband died, and the last 40 years with many new people and experiences in my life. Probably more information than you wanted to know, but it is what it is

Lynn, isn't moving and packing fun? It will be well worth it in the end.

Lista, enjoy California. Hope you get out and about and see the sights.

RW, funny story.

And, Mel, what can we say but happy you at back.

Have a great day everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Y'all,

I am cleaning like crazy...the real estate lady is coming tomorrow am to take pics of the house. Yes, I am throwing everything in the closets! I still plan on staying in SC for several months unless the house sells or the relocation company says I have to move. Since they are paying for everything, I will follow their rules. DH has to be to work 4/18/11. They found him a furnished 1 BR apt to stay in until we find a house there. They are very efficient and things are moving quickly. The realtor in WI sent us some houses to look check out. We told her what we want and she sent 194 houses. I guess we need to be more picky...lol I am sure we will find a good one....and there are so many to choose from.

Back to work today 2-9. I hope you all have a great day, Lynn

Mel.........Glad to hear from you, I still have you in my prayers.

Good Morning- We DO have the very best team and I'm so happy that you've all made it that way emoticon emoticon

Mel, heal quickly my dear friend!

now a little laughter;

A pregnant woman is driving down the street when she gets into a fender bender and is out cold for a week. When she awakens, she realizes she is no longer pregnant.

"What happened to my baby!" she frantically asks the doctor.

"Ma'am, you had twins!" the doctor replies. "A healthy boy and a girl. Your Uncle Jack came in and named them."

"Oh, no," the woman says. "Not Uncle Jack! He's an idiot!"

She asks the doctor, "Well, what's the girl's name?"

"Denise."

"Wow," the woman says, "that's not such a bad name I like it! What's the boy's name?"

(Story continues below)

"Denephew."

One bung eye won't keep me away from saying howdy to everyone again. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. What a great group this is! I've read a few posts but can't stay focussed for long at this stage, but will get better with time.

Thanks especially to Auntie for posting my email, and big thanks to Lois and Bonnie, and to Rosie, Mary, Sandy, Lynn, Lista, Kathy, Steve, RW, and Brenda for the wishes and/or goodies you sent in your posts and to my sparkpage. Hope I haven't missed anyone, as every word you sent was much appreciated.

I have been thoroughly spoilt with a spa visit, pedicure, massage, sunglasses, and relaxation music, and am enjoying these goodies whilst in recovery mode.

I shall get back into the swing of things as quickly as I'm able and wish everyone a great sparkin' Thursday.

I am so glad to see Michele from Tokyo is with us. Michele, you have been in my thoughts for weeks and, although I haven't read your posts yet, I know you are here. emoticon

Mel, It is good to hear from you and am glad to hear you are doing well. Just don't try to over-do.

AD, Prayers are being sent to you and your husband. I hope your job works out for you. Did you get your tooth fixed?

Our weather has been crazy. Twenty-four days of rain for the month of March. I don't know how many days for April so far but we have had a lot. Thursday is supposed to be our turning point. In the meantime we are having wind, rain, hail and cold. Tonight is supposed to be thunder storms with a mixture of rain, hail, and snow and colder temps tomorrow night. They are telling people to bring in any new plants that they put outside. I don't know when we last had snow in April. One town up north of here got five inches today but it is melting.

We had another birthday party yesterday for Pat who lives on the first floor and I took a lot of pretty good pictures. I just don't know how to get them out of the camera yet. It is a slow learning process.

Lynn, I'm so glad your husband got the job he wanted but sorry to hear you have to relocate again. Happy tho that the company is doing all the moving. That is the great part! Does this mean you are moving right away with him instead of staying in SC for six months?

Bonnie, I hope you get the water heater turned on soon!! We never know how much we use things until they aren't available. I need some sunshine here. too. This morning it got really dark and then it started hailing. Too many dark rain clouds hovering over our valley.

I can't remember everyone else's names but I have read your posts and am sending warm thoughts to you all.

I am enjoying my first day in California on vacation. Had to get up way too early this morning to get to the airport and then finally got here. But I'm loving it. Sat by the pool and got a little color. It feels so good to be in the sun. Going to spend tomorrow just hanging out at the hotel while the husband goes out and visits customers. Planning on getting some exercise in at the exercise room and go for a good walk.

Bonnie - congrats on hanging in there and not letting a few pounds totally derail you. You've got a plan made and that is great.

Lynn - so you're moving to Wisconsin. So glad your husband was able to get a job so quickly. Sounds like things are going good. You'll have to find yourself a new job now. Sounds like you have been successful doing that.

Auntie - sorry to hear of all the sadness in your family.

Lista - in Minnesota
