I was raised on a farm and we had a horse named Jimmy who I used to love riding, but that was 50 years ago. I don't think I could ride a horse today.

I rode with a young boy many years ago and was totally terrified because another horse came very close and I thought it was going to bite my leg. That was the end of that. I do like horses, tho, but from a distance.

Yes we have horses. Thoroughbreds and we show in Eventing. I come from a family of horse lovers. I grew up with horses. My cousins is a Morgan horse breeder. My sister is a Standardbred breeder (big time race horses) My other sister is into showing Thoroughbreds in Hunter Jumper. Horses, horses every where in my family.

we kept a horse as a child, on our dairy farm. So I rode quite a bit, but haven't ridden (except on an occasional trail ride) in the last 40 years.

Hi RBMICH,
Aren't horses wonderful! I rode as a girl with friends at their farm.
Now as an adult I've been able to finally buy my own horse, a wonderful arabian who is my baby.

My daughter and I ride as often as we can - which is less in the winter and more in the spring/summer/fall.
We don't have an indoor facility so the cold and slippery conditions slow us down on our favorite activity.
The chores are ALWAYS a part of owning/riding and add to the fitness factor I suppose.
BTW- we just pleasure ride - we haven't done any showing. Too expensive!

The only time in my life I ever rode a horse was not a very pleasant experience. I went with a girl friend of mine and we were probably about 14. My horse did not like her horse and the majority of the ride was trying to avoid each other. I do like horses, but much happier not riding.

I grew up as a child with horses. We even had the sleigh and a cart. I love them though I hardly get a chance to ride anymore.

At 63 I have been riding for 10 years. Staying fit is a goal because I like riding. Recently quit smoking (42 yrs) and have started to gain weight. The on -line smoking group was helpful so so I hope this will help with my weight. :)
Note: I ride 1 to 4 days a wekk. clean stalls, stack hay and other barn related activities.
