MARGARET

Thanks for your loving support. It is so appreciated. Also thanks for the great quote. So true, but we must all remind ourselves and each other regularly!

MEL

Thanks for the information about you and your countrymen. It is funny to hear the impression that other countries have about us. I am not offended one bit.

So glad to be getting to know you, and am interested in our differences as well as our similarities. The unfortunate bit is that, as you say of your politicians, ours are much the same. The people that make the news shows are not the real people of this or any other country.

We are all different in many ways here in the US, but I would like to feel that all of us, and the people in the rest of the world are more alike than different.

So glad that you have joined us here, and are realizing our similarities.

I see the ability to get to know one another as individuals to be one of the biggest advantages of the internet. The ability to bring the real people in different countries together to have relationships and realize how we can love each other and be great friends.

Very sorry for the loss of your young son, and the other losses you have suffered.

Thanks for your kind words, and hoping we can all become even better friends as we go along on this journey together.

I too would love to visit Australia, but afraid that will have to happen in my next life when I am TOO rich, TOO thin, and TOO whatever else I can be that is good!

RW

Thanks for beginning the next thread for January.

Hope you and Betty enjoy your activities tonight.

I am going to have dinner with friends, and probably be home early. Not feeling terrible, but called Dr for an antibiotic as this sinus infection is not getting any better and don't want it to travel to my lungs. Do not want a repeat of last winter when I was sick most of the time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, and NEW YEAR'S EVE to all of my wonderful friends and companions on this journey we have chosen to take together.

GOD BLESS and KEEP YOU ALL WELL, SAFE and HAPPY!

Bonnie

Hello there friends. It is really hard to believe it is the final day of 2010. I remember quite clearly 2000 for goodness sake and now 10 more years have flown by.

We are going to have warm weather today too and rain. Our little bit of snow that we had is almost all gone. It will be a great day to take down the outside decorations tomorrow - we won't freeze our fingers.

Going to just take it easy today. Have a good day everybody and be safe for your New Year's Eve.

Mel - when you next read this you will be celebrating New Year's Day. So have a happy one.

Motlem - Australia amazes me............. I have been to Sydney - Melbourne and Perth. The country-side is amazing in some parts and the flowers and wildlife are beautiful...............such greenery.
I was there for business - and BP was my customer ( oil refinery) so thats mainly who I was visiting plus a few other smaller customers. You certainly live in a lovely yet vast country....

Bonnie - We have 3 different time zones in Australia, and at DST there are some States that have it, and others that don't, so yes, it all gets a bit confusing especially when travelling. We are GMT+10 plus another hour for Daylight Saving until the end of March 2011.

That would be fantastic if I knew what time zone everyone is in. I know now that Toledo, Ohio is GMT-16. Thanks Bonnie.

Penny - Gee, 2 weeks gone already. Holidays surely speed by far too quickly as that 2 weeks went too fast. I hope the moving goes OK and the snow doesn't make it too difficult.

Bonnie (again) - Your last post was a beautiful one.

Margaret - Apart from being a very clever man, Edison was also a philosopher. Great quote.

If what I need to say now offends anyone, then I apologise in advance. It seems to me that most SP are either American or Canadian and until joining this group I had next to no idea how you live and how you feel, well, apart from in the movies and sometimes on the tv news.

Everyone I know in Tasmania thinks that Americans are people who talk a lot in a strange accent, wave US flags all the time and pray all the time. We can associate more with Canadians although they still have a strange accent.

Australians are pretty laid-back people and most are not religious at all, which includes me, my family, and all my OZ friends and rellies. Don't get me wrong, as most of us believe in God to a certain extent, but we just don't talk about religion. I believe there is some being somewhere and God is the name to call him but I cannot understand why this God took away my son at the age of 32, why he took away my parents and all my aunts and uncles, why he took away my brother-in-law most cruelly.

My husband believes that when you are dead well that's it; all black, no more; but I try very hard to believe that all my loved ones and especially my son are somewhere else and having a good time... maybe Gary's floating on a cloud up there in the sky, who knows because no-one has proof. I do say The Lord's Prayer every night though and ask God to take care of Gary. I guess that accounts for some sort of belief.

As far as waving the flag goes, well we are pretty proud to be Aussies but we don't really give much credence to the royal family that live in the UK. Geez, they only come out here once in a blue moon and we have to pay for it. We rubbish our pollies too, and why not? Keeps them on the straight and narrow, if that's possible for pollies. The premier of Tasmania at the moment is a drongo and our prime minister (equivalent to your president Obama) wouldn't understand a good policy if it hit her in the face.

Well that's all the honest truth and once again I hope it doesn't offend too many. On a different note, I think the time I have spent so far here with you (Americans and Canadians alike) has been an eye-opener for me and I love you all. I love your friendliness, your thoughtfulness, your grace, your compassion, your dedication, your motivation and what you stand for.

I am very proud and quite humbled to have been accepted by you and hope many friendships will be formed through our association. You inspire me !!

May you all have the very best of health and happiness in 2011 !!

Bonnie- thanks for sharing your spiritual side- you are a beautiful lady. I personally feel that God loves -you, me, all of us, more than we can realize and he wants to wrap us in his love and make us whole and at peace. He wants this even more than we do. emoticon

Thanks for being one of my spark buddies - and you can be sure that you give so much. Well, lets just say you inspire and lift me up .... plenty!

Been doing my exercise and trying to watch what I eat... but... haven't been recording and tracking. Sooo today I began (again) to do this... and found that tracking my food is absolutely necessary! Really need to not just guess at how much I'm eating really need to SEE how much I'm eating.

I found this quote that I think speaks volumes and I'd like to share it with you spark buds since I think we would all benefit from thinking this way about anything in our lives:

As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didnt fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."

I'm not sure which step I'm on or if it will take me 1,000 or more or less. But I am going to keep on stepping.

Have a great spark day!!!

Margaret

Since we are only a few hundred miles apart, maybe we should figure out somewhere in the middle, and meet for a day on the lake this summer. Not good with geography, but I can drive a couple of hours to meet, or even a bit more if necessary. If it is too long of a drive, maybe we can find a motel and each have a room and relish our relaxation and freedom in the sun. Motel has to have a pool! Love that.

Food for thought. We could have a walking on the beach touristy couple of days if you want!

PENNY

Enjoy your last few days of vacation.

I laugh about the days that I would not even go out until 10:00pm or or even midnight when I was working afternoons in my twenties. Now, I might be up late, but as a general rule, it will be at home in my jammies.

We will have a nice visit and dinner and I will enjoy that. We don't see these friends as often as I would like because they are so busy with the bar. Bill is a wondeful comedic actor, and on occasion he will do a show, and I always want to see him on stage. But, other than that, his life is at the bar.

Good luck with the move today.

DOROTHY

Thanks for the good wishes. I woke up feeling a bit yuck this morning, but mornings seem to be like that. Did my nasal rinse, and took a long hot shower, seem a bit better. Was unable to go to sleep until about 3:00am. Had such a good night the previous night, slept 10 1/2 hours, that I guess my body was confused. Seems like that will happen if I get lots of sleep. Oh, dear, this crazy old body! Slept pretty well for about 6 hours. A nap may be in my future.

Raising a glass emoticon , water of course, to this team, and to all of you. I found this team two years ago during December, and it was one of the best gifts I could have asked for.

So nice to have those of you still here in my life, and those of you who have become a part of this wonderful journey along the way, I am very grateful.

I am not what you would call an extremely religious person, but I do feel that I am spiritual.

When my journey began, 3 years ago on Nov 26, 2007, I would never have dreamed that I would have been as successful as I have at losing some weight, keeping it off, loving myself more for just who I am, ridding my mind of so many negative messages I was sending myself, and truly learning to change one habit at a time, one day at a time.

I am definately not perfect, but I am ok with that too.

It is a journey, not a diet, so I am able to accept that I will make mistakes, and just do the best I can to go from there.

When I began, I really was sure that I was just doing this last effort to prove to myself that I needed to have bariatric surgery of some sort.

The wondeful thing has been that my God, my spritual being, has lead me in directions that I never knew existed, and had no way to find without him putting the resources, and the people in my face.

I am a bit of a slow learner.

First, he lead me to the weight loss study at Bowling Green Univerisity, where the teachings were very much the same as Spark People, but there was never any negative, or even much positive feedback. It was a study after all. That was very helpful in helping me to get away from some of the emotional connection of guilt and failure associated with food.

Six months later when the study was just over, He sent Spark People to send me an invitation to join, and I have been here ever since, May 2 2008.

He put all of the Spark teachings, and all of you in my way so that I just could NOT walk around you, and it has been such a blessing in my life.

I know that not many of you have as much weight to lose as I still do, but I am hoping that over the years you have come to understand that for me, just losing some weight, and keeping it off, a little up, a little down, has been a real miracle.

I do believe that I will lose more weight, but it will be when my mind, and body and soul all come to that conclusion together.

I am working on my attitude towards food, loving myself, and exercise on a daily basis. But it is such a relief to have so much hope and such better feelings about myself that life is just so much sweeter.

God Bless all of you who have been there for me on this wondeful journey, and I am wishing all of you the joy, happiness and serenity that you deserve in this brand new year!

Thanks for just being here and being who you are. I find I get something different from each of you, every day to move me in a positive direction!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY BLESSINGS ABOUND FOR YOU AND YOURS.

Prayers for stength and love to guide you through the rough spots.

You are all just the best.

Bonnie

Good thursday and Happy New Years Eve eve!

Tomorrow will watch DGD's in the mornign for awhile and play with all their new toys. New Years Eve will be quiet at home, but dinner will include steak, lobster tails and crab legs with a shrimp appetizer. DH will be in bed by 10. I stay awake til midnight, wake him for a kiss and go sleep myself.
In our younger days used to do this with friends and he would stay awake. Granted we are not old, just older, and most of our friends feel like we do, just stay home and relax.

Rainy and warmer today. Close to 45 along the shores of Lake Erie. Similar to Bonnie's weather. We are only a few hundred miles apart.

Have a good day all. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Everyone. Well it is Thursday and what that means in my life right now is that I have to go back to work soon. I've had almost 2 glorious weeks off and it has been wonderful. I'm so fortunate working in a school.

Sandy - you are such a great parent to support your DS and grandchildren by being there for them...but I'm sure most of us would be as long as we know they are trying their best to do the right things. Good luck to you and your family in the battle.

Sangabkate - your stir fry sounds yummy. I like to make a variety of things like that too, but only one of my children eats them with me, so I don't do it often. Hope you get your paperwork cleared from your desk.

Onemorething - a movie weekend should be fun and relaxing. If they are action movies though I always feel like I'm in the movie running away from the bad guys, so it can be pretty tense. Have fun. emoticon

Mel - Peace and blessings for you and your family at the funeral you went to. I think it was for your daughter in-law's nana, so I'm certain you gave her lots of love and support.

Bonnie - have fun on New Year's Eve. That will be a nice intimate gathering with friends and wise to get in off of the roads early. My DH and I aren't party people at all, so we just stay home, watch TV and I usually can't stay awake until midnight. If I do, it's because I nap on the couch and someone wakes me up when the countdown is on 10, 9, 8....
You are a great bargain shopper. Way to go Bonnie. Glad you are feeling a bit better as well. Take care.

Dorothy - hope you are having a good day at work. I'll be back at my job next week.

Well I best get off the computer as today we are helping my oldest son to help move his girlfriend to a new place to live. She doesn't have a lot of stuff to move so it shouldn't take long. The weather is supposed to above freezing here in Southern Ontario Canada and for this time of year that is amazing. Our little area just isn't getting the snow at all. Suits me fine. My DH is mad though because he says he put too much gas in the snow blower this year! I said don't worry, I bet we'll still get a chance to use it.

Have a super day everyone. Good luck with your healthy goals - I'm still trying.

Penny - I could sure use some help in cleaning out clutter and arranging furniture. My problem is when I arrange furniture I rearrange whole rooms. Guess I get carried away! Good for you and hubby to be so energetic.

Bonnie - prayers are sent your way - I hope your son gets full custody - and can;t be good or the girls to be dragged around so much and introduced to so many men.

NJJAZZ - wow - that is a lot of shoveling and a lot of calories!

Bonnie - sure hope you are feeling better.

Mel - sorry about the funeral - I really should go to the Funeral Home today as friends mother has passed away!

Well - I need to get my butt in gear and get ready for work - have a great day all!!

The time where I live is as you have stated, but we do have different time zones in the states, and there are time differences from the east coast to the west coast here. It is even more interesting in the summer when Arizona is the only state that does NOT go on daylight savings time. When I was there last summer, we traveled across the state, and it was very funny. The state does not honor DST, but the Indian Reservations DO. So our cell phones did not always know what time it was! pretty strange.

Perhaps each one of us could tell Mel what time it is where we are.

Sorry for your loss for the funeral you are attending.

ONEMORETHING

That does seem a bit early to me to take a tree down too, but I suppose they have to do it when they have the time. Maybe too busy after school begins again.

My friend Diana and I have friends who own a bar. We had an early dinner with them last year on New Year's Eve at the bar in the back room that was not in use yet, and it was great fun. We are going to do the same this year. We will probably be in our respective homes by 9:00 or 9:30pm. Good enough for me, be home before all of the amateur drinkers hit the road.

KATE

That's ok to complain about the rain. We all want to see the sun. Met Laura for lunch today, and the sun was shining so I asked to sit in a booth where there was sun to shine of my back. We put the shade down just enough to keep it from shining in Laura's face.

If the weather reports run true, or have not changed since I last looked, we should be getting a couple of days in the high 30's, which hopefully will melt all of the crap we now have on the ground. We were actually lucky here in Toledo, Ohio, in that the storms from last week missed us. We have snow from several weeks ago. This is me wishing it away. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

SANDY

We have a brand new Y that I attend, so I have forgotten that we used to have to do the same thing that you do, give time for the Y team. But, with the new bigger pool, we still have a couple of lanes for the rest of us, and a big kids pool to boot. Guess I am spoiled.

Prayers for your family. Prayers for you. God Bless and keep those children safe and well and happy.

PENNY

My favorite thing was always to rearrange furniture. Part of the reason that my back injury has been aggravated so much.

I am much more careful these days, I am old enough to realize that I am no longer invincible.

I bought a small wooden TV stand with doors in the front from a consignment shop today, and I asked my neighbor to bring it in and put the TV on it, I still have the old big kind, and I only moved the things that are on wheels. Did get the vacum out and did the area rugs, so it feels nice now. The table I had the tv on was way to big for the room, so I am pleased. It cost me $30.00. Love it. Went in there last week and found a small wooden dresser, probably had been a child's dresser, for $30.00. I have natural woodwork, kind of a darker golden oak, and the woods both look good with it. Paid $30.00 for that too. Told them I am NOT coming back next week. We all just laughed.

Not feeling too badly with my sinus and laryngitis. My voice is better today. Just keep rinsing my sinuses, and taking my sudafed. Don't think I am going to get as sick this year as I did last winter. Last winter was absolutely the pits, I was really sick for the better part of that winter.

Wishing you all a great day tomorrow.

God Bless my friends.

Bonnie

Bonnie - 10:30am Thursday here while it's now 6:30pm Wednesday at SP. I am 16 hours ahead and still trying to get my head around it, that when I am having lunch, it is 9pm yesterday at your place and you're getting ready for bed.

Onemorething - Gee, taking the Christmas tree down already? It is considered bad luck to take it down before the year is over. Well, that's a belief here in Tasmania; it may not be the same over there.

I have a funeral to go to today. I hate funerals, but like death, they are inevitable. The older you get, the stronger the thoughts about your own mortality, I reckon anyway.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

Give them a hug from me, tell them that this citizen is hoping for the best for them. - The ex sounds a bit 'unsettled', I hope for her own personal sake she can get it together. I always hate to hear of a women who is lost and struggling. My DH is always telling me to mind my own knitting, even tho I have the best intentions.
My calendar this week is to get thru the paperwork on my desk, pack away the christmas things till next year, stir fry for dinner (I love my wok! easy, tasty, easy to control the fat & sugar!) and wishing the rain would go away. I know that here in So CA a little rain is nothing like the feet of snow so much of the rest of the country is getting. I should count my small blessings.
Wishing all Spark Folk a healthy, happy & succesful 2011!

Good Morning all!

Bonnie: Our Local high schools are using the Y pool for swim team in the evenings, so no open swim at that time. Their competitions don't end til March unfortunately for me. Will just have to get my butt moving earlier. Prefer evening cause then I sleep better.

Off for an oil change this afternoon. Trying to make my dentist appointment, laundry and some ironing done this morning. Have 2 big tablecloths to get done and put away. Will squeeze in the walking dvd too. Got my haircut in yesterday.

Fajitas for dinner tonight. Such an easy meal. Glad DH likes those kinds of dinners.

DS going back to attorney next week to file for full custody of his girls (5 & 2) His ex planning to move out of the county. Our county does not go for that. Like to keep their children here and in one school system. Not bouncing around. His ex has ahd 2 boyfriends and lived in 6-7 different places since she left him last Christmas. Can't get Section 8 housing as she has no job. Intends to live with her last foster mother and dad. So much drama going on.

So I kind of have to put job hunting on hold til we find out what the court decides. I amy be the daycare grandma for awhile.

Sun is shining today and getting warmer for a few days. Will probably start taking Christmas stuff down this weekend, at least outside while it is warm and not raining.

Have a good day all, gotta get started with all my other stuff.

Good morning. Well I think it will be a slower paced day today. My DH and I changed the furniture around in our family room yesterday. I'm not sure what's gotten into us, but it feels good. It's FREE too! That's the best part. Today I'm take two of my kids for hair cuts and then I'll just putter around at nothing in particular. I'll get some walking in and try to make healthy eating choices. Had great tilapia fish last night at dinner and it was great.

I'll check back later folks.

Aren't you able to just go into the pool and do your own exercise regime? Just wondering if the y's are different there from here. We can do what we want as long as there is not a program day, etc. We have lap lanes for swimming. I usually swim, and then exercise up and down the lanes also.

Thanks for reminding me, as soon as this little head congestion virus is gone, I must get back in the water myself.

Glad you are enjoying your time with your family.

DOROTHY

so understand about the tired stuff myself, I am sure your family understood.

Not really sick, but have laryngitis, and a bit of sinus irritation. hoping that it passes soon.

PENNY

Good for you for getting your basement organized. That is ONE of the things on my agenda.

NJJAZZ

I would be in the hospital in traction if I shoveled for even 1/2 hour! Good for you, and I am sure you really burned tons of calories. That is a tremendous amount of snow! Amazing.

I am sure those you shoveled for are extremely grateful.

Hope you are not too stiff.

So many people are loving those keurig coffee makers! A couple of people have tried to talk me into getting one too. I have a coffee maker with a carafe that I just love. I have gotten a couple of them for free with Gevalia coffee, and last summer, I found on at a garage sale from a woman that ordered a different color when she redid her kitchen. Paid $10.00 for it. I love that there is no burner for the coffee to sit on, and that the carafe keeps the coffee so hot anyway. I also love to freshly grind my beans. Guess I am just set in my ways. That will be a huge surprise to those of you who have know me for a long time, or even a short time, I am sure!

Very glad the rest of you are enjoying yours! I hear great things.

Have a great day tomorrow my friends. God Bless.

Lynn - Have a safe trip and I look forward to reading your posts next year.

Bonnie - I hope you get over the sinus and laryingitis quickly, like get over it yesterday. Nice you took some goodies to your parents.

Penny - Yes it's good to have a cleanout. We don't have a basement, but our spare room is chockers, full of computers, printers, tv sets, and mountains of old clocks and radios. DH builds and repairs clocks as a hobby and he has over 250 clocks and around 70-80 old radios and gramophones. We've certainly got the time, but not the space.

June - Wow, 6 hours shovelling snow!! That's an incredible effort. I reckon you'd be aching all over, not just your back. What a job!

Another quiet day for me today. All good.
Have a great Humpday everyone.

Thanks for the info. Will do.

Just enjoying a cup of Italian brew with some Peppermint Mocha creamer.

Had DS and his darling wife for dinner tonight. We laugh thru the entire meal. They come once a week, usually tuesdays, for dinner. The other kids make a fuss, but that has always been the way it worked before this son got married and it just continues. LOL

Just checked the Y's new schedule for winter and there are no evening water aerobics classes from now thur march. The pits. I am not a morning person. May have to change that if that is what I really want to do or go to just walking and doing a few machines. Prefered the water though, much easier on the joints and still a good hour work out.

Well, have a good evening. emoticon

Sandy - as a veteran Keurig user I have found that Amazon has the cheapest K-cups when you use the subscribe and save program. Which means you tell them how often you want coffe sent and they do it automatically with free shipping. You can change your schedule or cancel without any expense. It seems online it's the shipping that kills you. Coffee Cow offers free shipping occassionally. I guess Sam's Club has k-cups too and looking online they are a good price. Google k-cups and you'll find lots of places. Enjoy. You will love it.

Good Tuesday!

6 hours of shoveling? WOW! At 61 I know that is something I could not do even with being healthy.

Sun finally peeked out today for a short while. Went and got a haicut and then walked for 2 miles with the dvd. Wind chill close to zero so not walking outside.

Just chilling at home, with a couple good books and the computer and some movies. Had DGD's for awhile last night while their M&D's went out for dinner. We had a good time playing.

We also got a Keurig for Christmas. DH likes making one cup at a time. Glad it came with a basket so we can use regular coffe too, not just those K-Cups. Still expensive even with a coupon for Bed, Bath and Beyond. That's the cheapest place we have found to buy them. Will check on-line.

Most of the Christmas goodies I gave to our kids so they aren't here. Downfall though is the chocolate covered pretzels.

Looking forward to a new year. Hopefully will be better than the last. Glad to read about all the successes with weight loss since I gained back about 5 lbs. Will get back into the swing of things.

Have a great day all! emoticon

I think some higher power realized I was off schedule on my eating goals - and dumped 26 inches of white stuff on my driveway and sidewalks for shoveling exercise. WOW - my aching back. I spent very close to 6 consecutive hours shoveling - my house - my Mon's house - 2 friends who are alone........... hmmmm then came home and slept on the heating pad for awhile.

Everyone have a great day................ the holiday season is almost behind us ( hmmmm and my behind is growing from all the goodies I ate) BUT - once the new years celebration is over - time to get back to it.

Go enjoy your day .. emoticon

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone. I took yesterday away from the computer and went to the basement of our home with my DH. We got stuck into clearing out some clutter. It felt wonderful to finally see the floor space down there and the top of our pool table again. It's so easy to just set a box on top of something and say "I'll come back for that" and then never come back. Today we are going to go to Costco to get our regular staples of bread and some meats we buy there. Prices are quite a bit better than the regular grocery stores.

Bonnie - glad you got some rest. That was nice of you to take food to your mom and dad.

Lynn - have a safe and enjoyable trip as much as you can anyway. Looking forward to hearing from you again here on the boards.

Mel - You mentioned about how quickly the years fly by. I was just thinking about my grade 4 teacher the other day (watched a TV show that reminded me of him). Anyway I was thinking how he is probably close to 80 now!!!! Oh my goodness that is scary. Life is very precious.

Lista - sounds like you had some enjoyment with your gifts. Fitting in some exercise too is very good.

Chesterfields - it is good to make a decision as to when to stop eating the Christmas goodies. They seem to go on forever. I know I have had to put them away in a drawer and I am tempted to put a padlock on the drawer too, but my kids would complain.

Steve - hope you are enjoying your morning coffee and maybe some golf soon.

Dorothy - have a great day yourself.

Take care team. I'll get my 2 mile walk in with DH today and hopefully some more clutter clearing in prep for a new year!

Bye for now.

Steve - you are too funny. I would love to get a Keruig but decided against it because I knew hubby would be making a cup of coffee probably every 1/2 hour - lol - hope you get to golf soon!! I di dbuy DD one for Christmas so now I can go to her house and have a great cup of coffee!!

Bonnie - know what you mean by exhaustion, I was suppose to take my mom to my brothers after all my company left but I fell asleep on the couch instead - I felt so bad but I was so tired. Will take her this weekend.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!

The holidays are like that. Good for you to be determined to get yourself back on track tomorrow.

Glad you enjoyed the holidays, I did too.

Today, I concentrated on eating fruits and veggies, I was actually craving them. Cookies can only carry you so far in your nutrition goal! LOL

LISTA

Hope you enjoyed your day of leisure. Glad you bought some things you are happy with.

MEL

I did enjoy my day yesterday, I am much better rested today, however, I seem to be harboring some kind of stupid virus. Sinus irritation, and bit of laryingitis. Using my nasal rinse and my sudafed. Keeping fingers crossed it will just be mild.

Took the left over roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, and veggies from Christmas dinner to my mom and dad for dinner tonight. They called and said they enjoyed it, and the big thing was mom did not have to cook!

Took her some cookies too as her oven is broken and she has a little get together with her brother and sister and sister in law on New Years Eve. Now she is all set.

MEMARE

Great news that you have met your goal emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Good luck with your new teams, and drop by if you feel like it some time and let us know how you are.

God Bless and God speed for your trip.

Very happy New Year. Many prayers for a safe trip and a great adventure in your new home!

I got to have today off from work. Yeah! I just lollygagged around. Actually did some work this morning on the monthly newsletter I have to put together for work then I was off looking for yarn for a new afghan project, then looking for accessories for the new Nook I got for Christmas (lucky me!) and then finally found the CD for The Canadian Tenors. Love them! It was a good day. I was even a good girl and stopped at the gym and stepped on the stair stepper for a while. Ouch, I think I just sprained my arm patting myself on the back! Have a good night.

Lista - So sad about your friend.

Lynne - All the best in your new home.

Bonnie - Enjoy your day of relaxation. This time of year certainly catches up with you sometimes.

Steve - Happy golfing!

Well I guess things will quieten down a bit now for a few weeks as a lot of people are holidaying. Not long now before 2010 will be just a memory. How quickly the years fly by.

Lynn- Your move has started and how exciting it must be. I'd go and explore all over that area when I arrive. Have lots of fun and I hope you enjoy the area. Just think, you can now go walk on the beach when ever you want to.
We have decided to put our trip to my sisters house until a week from now. We are hoping that the weather will warm up a bit and my brother in law and I will be able to get a round of golfing in and the snow is only found in the rough. Have a great spark'n day y'all. Stevegolfdog

Happy day after to you all!

The most I did today was take a nice shower, and change into clean jammies and robe.

Just listening to my body, and resting. Hoping to have more energy tomorrow, but if I don't, I will simply take another day to rest.

I know fatigue when I feel it.

Had a wonderful time, but just did too much for the last 4 days or so.

God Bless all.

Wise words RW.

Apart from doing a bit of shopping on Boxing Day, I had a very relax day. I think I enjoyed that just as much as the hectic Christmas Day.

Stay well everyone and enjoy the holiday period.

Well, may never catch up on all of the posts I have missed.

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Woke this morning and was supposed to go and see a couple of friends from out of town.

Told my friend Nancy that I just could not go. My body is telling me to lay back down and/or sit still. I am exhausted, my eyes are not even reading the posts without being blurry. Took an nap and still exhausted.
Can you say, "Did too much". Loved it, but now have to recover.

Praying that all of you had a joyous holiday. I did.

I'm shaking too much now, hahahaha. I love the Keurig coffee machine. One cup at a time. It sounds like a mantra of some sort. It's just that it is one after another, hahaha. It looks like we got about 9 inches of snow from yesterday and last night. I do not like winter, hahaha. I really like wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts all day long. Man, I can't wait for good weather to show up. I'll be like a caged starving monkey, LOL. Oh, I just realized I'll have bowling to look forward too, yeahhhhhh. Have fun y'all and happy spark'n. Steve - you are going to love your Keurig. I have had one for about 3 years and I love it. I have recruited about 10 people into getting one. I have found the least expensive place to get kcups is on Amazon using the subscribe and save plan. My favorite is Timothy's La Verada Columbian. Nothing like a good cup of coffee.

Lynn - safe travels.

What a wonderful Christmas I had. DH and I spent Christmas Eve with just the kids and their significant others. 1 1/2 year old granddaughter was just a joy. She was so thrilled by everything. Son dealing with a cold and started getting really bad chills in the middle of gift opening so he ended up in bed without even opening all his presents. Christmas Day made a nice breakfast to have with the kids and then a leisurely day until evening when we went spent time with the in-laws and their kids. A little more frantic and not as relaxing but love them all.

Came home to a couple messages on my phone letting me know a dear lady from church had unexpectedly died. So sad. She would help me in the office every week. She was only in her 50s. Life is short, make every one count.

Happy day after to everyone. Watching the morning news and it looks like lots of parts of the USA got a white Christmas................. places that are not used to snow at all. NJ is getting 18 inches of the white stuff today. Lots of calories burned shoveling tomorrow. Stay safe everyone.

Happy Boxing Day to All. Christmas was nice in our home. Low key and enjoyed by all of us. I actually didn't feel too full once so that is a great achievement for me. It doesn't mean I didn't eat too many unhealthy things, I did, just a little less of them. Yum, yum.

I'm up awful early so that I can take my DD and DS to the mall for 8 a.m. boxing day sales. Then I have to rush off to a 10:30 service at church and help to greet at the door.

I hope everyone basks in the afterglow of Christmas Day and fits in a bit of exercise today just for old times sake.

Take care everyone.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas Day. All very tiring, but it's always a lovely time.

We received the sad news that Jacqui's Nan passed away at 7pm Christmas Day.

Have a peaceful Boxing Day everyone.

HI All,

I worked until 6:30 last night and then came home and made Spicy Orange Beef (with rice) for dinner. After that we went to 8pm candle light service at church. It will be our last service there. One more day to work....the day after Christmas!!! Returns day!! I will be glad to be done. The truck came and picked up the donated stuff from the house...it is very empty now. In 4 days we will start the drive to SC. I will answer all posts after we move. Just know that I am thinking of you all and wishing you the best. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my wonderful Spark Friends!!

Hello again- An update- We finished with our local family gift exchange and breakfast and it started to snow at 9am. It has not stopped so we are having a benefited "White Christmas". We got home and loaded up our dogs and packed our overnight stuff so we can start the 2 hour drive to Greensboro. We drove about 3 blocks and came across a truck that spun out and ended in a creek. It was way down so you could hardly see the back end of the truck. I got out and I asked s person standing by another car that stopped and he said, "No one is in it because he was the driver". Thank God no one was hurt. We decided to cancel our road trip and looked at that as an omen. So, we have hunkered down and wished them all a Merry Christmas over the phone. We'll try to drive there when the storm ends. Oh well, we'll miss seeing my nephew and his wife, but it's better to be save then sorry. I hope you're all having a very Merry Christmas. Stevegolfdog

emoticon MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with our family. DGD's were all excited about their gifts. Evening went too fast. We went to 10 pm services then by the time I got all the dishes done it was 12:30 before I got to bed.

Woke to the aroma of waffles, coffee and sausage DH made for breakfast. Now getting ready to go to SI-Laws for lunch. I bring the veggies and dessert. Need to get into the shower first.

Have a great day all! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
We are having a breakfast family get together this morning and exchanging presents, then off to my sisters home. 2 hour drive in, I hope, only light snow and/or rain. I might be able to get some exercise in at my sisters house. She has some exercise equipment to use. She also does aerobics with DVD's. That will be nice to do with her. Love to all and have a Merry Christmas. Stevegolfdog

I agree with you too? It does mean a lot even to the older kids even though they do not say it? I got a nice remark last year on of my grand kids said that mine house always feel warm and welcome and that meant a lot to me? So I will always have the decorations up and out for them and their little ones some day too?

Merry Christmas Eve. Just putting the last touches on decorating. Gotta have all the oohs and aahs in place for the kids. Even though they are in their 20s it means a lot to them even though they might not say it out loud.

Kathy- You are at 125 and you were in the 170+ range. That is awesome and you seem to keeping it around that weight. Besides, with all your working out, you might have built some muscle mass and you might be at a better and healthier weight now. I wish you lived my my house so you could motivate me to exercise and go to the gym etc. I rely on my golf and bowling and no bowling for 2 weeks due to the holidays and no golf due to the weather. I'm up a s**t creek without a paddle, LOL. I wonder where that saying ever came from anyway, HaHa. Y'all have a great day. The turkeys in and my dessert is made. I now have to take down a canopy that covers our outside deck so the snow won't bring everything down. emoticon

Steve-I surely wish I was 121 right now! If you look at that picture on my Spark page again, you'll see the date was Nov, 2009. I gained back to 130 after my surgery earlier this year, so I'm struggling to slough it all off again. My weight ticker is accurate. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be 125 or even lower. We'll see! Like you, when I wake up, I start thinking too much and can't get back to sleep! I wound up going back to bed around 5:30 and just woke up about 8:30. Should be good for the day!

Good Morning to All

Many early risers I'm sure. Lots of cooking to be done and final preps to make. My turkey is defrosting in the fridge. It doesn't matter how early I put it in the fridge I'm still chipping ice out of it before stuffing it on Christmas day. Still have to wrap DH couple of gifts and I'm good to go. Going to a late Christmas Eve church service tonight to do a reading - I love the quietness of the church - very calming. I'll need a nap too Kathy to stay up past 10 p.m.

Steve - hope that turkey cooperates with you.

Kathy - I do have to listen to my body for sure. It's easy to think I can just go all out with the jogging, but I can tell I'm not a spring chicken anymore.

It would be a hugely long message here if I were to list everyone today, so in one gigantic wish

I WISH EVERYONE A LOVELY CHRISTMAS EVE AND MAY CHRISTMAS DAY DAWN FULL OF CHEER AND LOVE FOR ALL. emoticon emoticon

Good morning- I got up early too. When my eyes pop open, I get up and I start thinking too much, hahaha. I love the mornings and it's my special time alone except my dogs fight for position on my lap, LOL. Kathy, you are a running inspiration to all of us. I looked at your profile and noticed you got your weight down to 121. That must be so great of a feeling to be at that weight again. Congratulations on your getting married again and all. It's all great stuff. Anyway, I have to fix the turkey and make my pink stuff dessert and bring it over to my wives sisters house. I hope the timing works out. It's hard to make the turkey listen. Anyway, Y'all enjoy this day celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and tomorrow, as well.

Isn't it so much fun to watch our children's faces, no matter how old they are? We don't have grandchildren, yet. However, my step daughter has been with a man for awhle, who has a 6 year old son. We haven't met him yet, but he sounds adorable. I look forward to treating him like our grandchild! I have fun shopping for gifts and stocking stuffers for him. :-)

Penny-Yay for you with your running! Just take it easy and slow, the way you have been doing. My knees gave me a little trouble this past summer. I backed off some and then was able to resume running again, thankfully. Just keep listening to your body!

Mel-I'm so glad your family is still coming. What a sad time this is for you all. I am glad your darling granddaughter will be everyone's joy! She sounds precious. :-) Scott and I still haven't talked about what dishes to have tomorrow! LOL Oldest DD did request a green bean casserole, so I'll get the things I need for that. Just don't know what else we will serve!

I'm up early today-woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm sure I'll take a nap later. :-)

Sounds like everyone is just about ready for their celebration of Christmas and various holiday traditions.

Mel - enjoy the time with your son and family - watch the beaming faces.

I got on the treadmill again today and I walked for 20 minutes and fit in 2 minutes of jogging and then another 2 minutes. It felt good and my knees are still holding up okay.

Happy eve of Christmas Eve!

Have one table left to set and I will do that in the morning. Ready for cooking dinner. DGD set the kids table and made name cards. Kept her busy in between reading her book and watching Christmas movies on the Family channel.

I am tired but ready for the excitement of my grandchildren. Camera is charged and I will be in bed early tonight.

Have a Great, Blessed and Merry Christmas my friends! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Margaret, Michele, Onemorething, Steve, Dorothy, Kathy: Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Jacqui's Nan is still holding on but they still don't think she'll make it. So sad; it's her birthday today too.

You are all such a marvellous bunch. I think we have a great team with a great team spirit.

Had talks with my son last night and he said they would still be coming for Christmas. I just can't wait to see my little granddaughter's face as she opens her presents. She saw 'Anta Cause' the other day and hasn't stopped talking since.

Well the chickens are cooked and the turkey is in the oven. We have cold chicken, turkey and ham with hot vegetables plus pasta salad and coleslaw for our feast. Christmas pudding and pavlova for dessert. Everything is on track so far, so all good.

Have the best Christmas Eve day everyone!!!!!

Margaret-I'm in for the sledding/skating party and the woodstove cookout! :-) That sure would be fun, hmm? You sound like you have a very busy life, with taking care of your horses, visiting your shut in friend (the merlot and stuffed leaves sounds yummy!), etc.

Dorothy- I'm glad to hear your husband's eye surgery went well. I know what he means about having to be stuck more than once for an IV! I had that happen during my colonscopy last year and I nearly passed out because the nurse took the IV out of my hand and started over. Oh man..I was so sick from that! They had to give me oxygen which was weird, when they realized I was passing out.

Penny-Thanks for the info about Champix! Maybe DH will consider that. :-)

Bonnie-Sounds like you and the girls had a wonderful girls night together. :-) I bet it's an adventure for them to sleep over with you!

Mel-I am so sorry to hear about your DIL's grandmother not doing well! :-/ Prayers to all of you!

Bellaire-Welcome aboard! Congrats on quitting smoking! That's awesome! I actually started Weight Watchers years ago the week before Christmas! There's no "right time" for taking care of yourself! :-)

Our vacation started today and I've been enjoying relaxing: working on a 3000 piece jigsaw puzzle, watching tv, running 5 miles on the treadmill and getting my full body ST done! Now, I'm enjoying a glass of wine. :-)

Happy holidays, everyone!

Mel- So sorry for your bad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. My DW just took her parents to a funeral today. I'm holding down the fort and cleaning up after our party last night. Stay focused on dieting and your exercise routine over these holiday days. The weather is really cutting into my regular golf exercise program and I don't like it a bit. Merry Christmas to y'all again. I just had a hand of peanuts, not good at all for dieting. emoticon

Hi all! Former Sparker returning to the fold here. I finally put the cigarettes down after 37 years, and found the bottom of the cookie jar instead. Christmas week is a poor time to start tracking nutrition again, but a little awareness always helps, right?

Best of the holiday season to you and yours.

Follow your dream! Unless it's the one where you're at work in your underwear during a fire drill.

I have bad news today. My daughter-in-law's Nan had a stroke and is not expected to survive. It will be her 87th birthday tomorrow, Christmas Eve day. A family party was organised for her birthday, but of course is cancelled now. DIL's devastated as she is very close to her Nan.

Under the circumstances, I'm not sure if DS, DIL, and my 2 grandies will be spending Christmas with me now. I just hope they will, even if it is a subdued time. Otherwise it will be a very quiet time with only DH for company, like last year.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Just checking in to let you know I have not forgotten you.

Had Gracee and Brielle overnight last night, so no time to check in.

They have had a great time. They just love to be here. I have toys, cats, and it is a different house!

Will check in again after I take the girls home.

God Bless

Bonnie

Hi There,
Kathy - before I forget, my brother is taking Champix to help him quit smoking. I think it is a bit expensive, but worth it if the outcome is positive for sure.

I've got most things wrapped now, stuffers ready, just have to clean the house and look in the fridge to make sure the food items are all there.

I'll check back later to see how everyone is doing.

Have a great day everybody.

In Pittsburgh today with hubby - he is having surgery on his eye. We had to get up at 2 am to get here. Pretty tired. The first nurse could not get his IV in - he was not happy - I don't blame him I hate getting stuck with needles too!!

Oldest daughter is coming tomorrow with her family and the rest of the crew will be there on Friday. Really looking forward to it all and I am just about ready.

Lynn - so glad your son is there and you are no longer alone. Have a safe trip!

Have a gread Wednesday all!

It was raining real hard this morning here in Tokyo, too. We get a lot of rain. Not enough to flood, thank heavens! No snow. I went to the pool by bike (it's a 25 min bike ride) so it was a good warm up before I swam. The rain stopped by the time I got out of the pool.
I have never played cribbage before; is it anything like checkers? Dad used to play it back when I lived in Detroit.

Hi All,

I don't usually talk about the weather but it has been raining for a week. Some of the roads are flooding and people are starting to sandbag. Thankfully I am on higher ground. The poolman came today and made sure the pool won't overflow into the house. They are evacuating some towns near us. We don't get much rain in the desert, so it doesn't take much to overflow the banks of the Virgin River.
Anyway, I am glad my son Daniel is here with me. He is a little upset with me though, because I packed the cribbage board. We might have to pick up a cheap one tomorrow. I still have to work 4 more days. I will be sad and glad to be done.

Goodnight my friends, Lynn

Michele - Welcome and howdy from Tasmania, Australia. You'll enjoy it here; great sparkin' people.

Penny - Well done with your jogging, and yes it can be uncomfortable at times. I won't jog unless I'm pretty well strapped in. I've just replied to the thread about New Year's resolutions and can honestly say I've never made one before. No promises, but maybe the quit could be my very first New Year's resolution, but then it will be well in to the new year on the 11th, so it probably doesn't count.

On reading different posts, am I right in that a lot of people have their main Christmas meal on Christmas Eve? Here we have our main Christmas meal at lunch time on Christmas Day, straight after the unwrapping of the presents. Anyway, whatever time the meal is, I'm sure everyone will enjoy.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Didn't get my exercise in today- mainly because I slept in LOL. Been sleeping a lot lately I guess I'm needing it. anyway went out to take care of the horses (clean stalls, feed and love em up) feed and watered the chickens, bunnies and dog. Had just enough time to get ready and make it in time to have my hair cut. Had a good long visit with Liz(hair cut lady) then went off to visit Charlotte (my shut in buddy) brought some wine (merlot) and some stuffed grape leaves and tortellini with green and black olives. So we had a good long visit and some yummy refreshments. Next off to the store to pick up some things for company coming on Christmas. I'm kind-of afraid to count the calories for today -- but I sure did have a good time. emoticon Maybe I can fit in some treadmill time tonight-- you spark buds are inspiring!

I'll have to plan a sledding/skating get together followed by a woodstove cookout and invite ya'll.
Sounds fun.

Lynn- so nice that your son will be coming to visit.

emoticon

Penny- you're too funny! Good job on that treadmill- it does get easier! I dread getting on mine but feel fantastic after a good run.

Well, gotta figure out my calorie count for today. See ya team! emoticon

Boy, we have a whole lotta den mom's and chatty people on this team. Where do y'all find the time, hahaha. I enjoy all your postings. Well, no golf today either. The weatherman was off by one day. Maybe tomorrow if it doesn't snow tonight, emoticon I am having our local relatives over tomorrow, as a quick pot luck thing. Our forest ranger, or my sister in law, has only one day to share this time of year with us all. She always misses our real Christmas family dinner together. That will be on Friday and then I go to my sister's home the next day, Christmas afternoon. Her son and his wife are visiting here for Christmas. They live in the Ca. bay area. Dinner at her house on Christmas night. Then I golf with my bother in law the next morning, (weather permitting). I hope we get to play our favorite game. Oh, the son and his wife fly back that day in the early morning. So, it's just a short visit but it will be fun to see them all. I hope all of you a special Christmas. Stevegolfdog emoticon
