Steve-Your day sounds fabulous! I'm glad your back behaved so you could enjoy yourself. :-)

We have have nasty weather all day here..actually, for several days. There's been flooding in several areas. I saw a newscast about flooding in Annapolis, which is only about 20 min from here. There've been several very bad accidents in the area, too. :-(

I'm gonna curl up with DH and have a glass of wine while we watch a movie soon. :-)

I slept really well last night and didn't need a nap when I got home, which absolutely thrilled me! I even ran on the treadmill for 3.75 miles! They were slow miles, but I got 'em done. I hope I'm on my way back to being myself again.

Yo, what a blast I had doing the walking scorer today in the Pro-Am. I had Bernhard Langer as my pro and 3 very nice others. They all made me feel like I was one of them. I was able to jump onto any of their golf carts to move us along. Bernhard was such the consummate gentleman and polite. I shook his hand right after his first tee shot and called him Mr. Bernhard. He immediately said, "Bernhard". I was so embarrassed. Hahahaha. It rained a bit but there was only light wind so no real problems. I got 5 hours walking and stuff. The real tournament starts on Friday with 3 pros in my group. I wore my back brace but actually, I'm pain free but wore it anyway just to make sure it's gone. I'm worried about bowling on Tuesday. We'll see how it goes. I think I'm going to ware the brace when I bowl next time. I might have to go to a very light ball. I might have to not bowl too. Man, it's tough getting older. Y'all have a great sparking evening. Stevegolfdog

Good evening, everyone! Sorry I haven't been around, lately. SO here's the rundown of my sleep saga:

My second night of taking Seroquel last night was ok, but the sleep wasn't a deep one. However, I can't complain; at least I wasn't awake for two hours during the night. I think in the back of my mind I kept worrying about waking up and being too tired today. Go figure..sigh. I'm such a worrier! I did wind up needing a nap this afternoon. Hope tonight will be better and I can get back on track with exercising. I miss it. :-(

Bonnie-How irksome (to say the least!) regarding your experience with the insurance company. I agree with you about many people not knowing how to advocate for themselves. I do a lot of case management, assisting clients with insurance issues. It's such a hassle and very time consuming and mentally draining. I'm glad your situation had a happy ending. I'm really glad you are likeing your new machine so well!

Steve- I hope you enjoyed your day at the Pro-Am game and look forward to hearing about your adventure. I hope your back didn't bother you.

DOrothy-You are doing great with keeping up with everyone. :-) Glad you are becoming a "regular" on here!

Lynn-Do we get to see pictures of your newest family member?? Glad you are home safe and sound after a wonderful visit.

Margaret-Way to go on using the treadmill! I hope I get back to running again very soon!

Wow-this thread is quiet today!! Hope you are all having a good week.

Big hugs!

Kathy

You are right, it has been all of the stress. I felt really good again today. Picked up my 2 great nieces at Pre school and we went to the walking trail for a mile walk. We had a great time. then home for lunch and nap.

Glad the Tylenol Pm works for you. Sleep is so underrated!

I got a new C Pap machine about a month ago. Had the girl at the supply house call the insurance co to make sure they would cover their 80% of the cost, they said yes, so I made arrangements to pay my portion. Have been sleeping very well lately with it, it is always an adjustment for me because I am claustrophobic and take drugs to be able to sleep with the mask on my face and the air blowing. This new machine is quite comfortable and I am beginning to sleep great.

On Friday the company called to tell me that the insurance rejected my claim. I was to bring my new machine back to them, or pay for it myself.

Well, I was plenty angry. So, called the insurance co. The agent said, that it was a misquote and they would undoubtedly cover it for that reason, but I should file an appeal anyway. Well, on Monday when I awoke after a really good nights sleep, I decided that none of this was my fault, and that I was NOT taking the machine back.

Called the insurance co, talked to an agent and the supr, they were both very understanding, and said they would work on getting it oked before Friday, called my Dr to fax them info to say I needed this, and called the girl that I work with at the supply house. She was not aware of the problem.

Well, came home today to a message on my answering machine that insurance was going to pay for the machine.

Very glad to have that taken care of, but it really makes me angry to think of other people, generally older, and others who are uneducated, who are not aware of how to advocate for themselves.

My 31 years of customer service taught me that there is always a way to make things work, and that if you explain yourself in an appropriate manner, you can generally make them make it right.

What of others, who do not have that advantage? That is how the insurance companies show record profits. I pray that the health care act can be worked out in such a way to help the other people getting taken advantage of by their insurance companies. I know it is going to take time to work the kinks out of the system, but hoping and praying that our representatives can begin to agree to make it better for ALL of the people!

OK, off that soap box, but relieved that my problem was taken care of!

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Congrats on your 4 year anniversary. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

To my way of thinking, you have accomplished a great deal by not gaining any weight in those 4 years. Give yourself a great big "YIPPEE".

KATHY

Glad you seem to have found something to make you sleep well. Hopefully the blood work will all be good and just sleeping more and better will be your solution.

LYNN

So glad you had a wonderful time with the new little one. Congrats on that pound lost too! Yea!

MARGARET

Great job on the exercise. Sorry about the roof. It IS always something.

Glad you have someone else to help with your friend.

Sorry about the ear infection. Hope it goes soon.

GALE

Love the attitude. I too am always grateful that I am maintaining and not gaining. I feel so much better and stronger that I am happy with where I am right now. No matter how long it takes to lose it all, I am in the right place.

LISTA

Glad you enjoyed your work day with your hubby. Seems to me that those kinds of days are the ones to cherish in a marriage.

CAROLYN

Love the idea of a 15 mile bike ride on a beautiful day!

Hope you enjoyed it greatly. Good for you.

SANDY

Sounds as though you are well. Glad to hear that. Hope you begin to have more "me" time!

RW

I am a bit late, I see, but hope that Betty's birthday was a great day for the both of you. Hope you are happy with your new phones.

DOROTHY

Is the Tylenol PM actually helping you to sleep? Hope so. I know sooo much about how bad it is to not sleep well and regularly.

STEVE

Hope you back keeps doing well, and you can enjoy all of your lovely time at your new condo.

I am a bit better today. It seems that ever since my dad's surgery was over on Weds, that I have been just totally exhausted.

I am sure that it is the letdown from all of the stress of waiting so long for the surgery and the danger of that, and then when my mom and dad had that car accident on the Sunday before surgery, it really ramped up my stress level. Dad is well, and they are both fine from the accident. Two real miracles. I am very grateful for both of them.

Slept quite well last night, and had much more energy today and felt much better.

Am getting very tired now, so am going to get to bed a bit early this evening, but wanted to check in since I have been a bit neglectful.

Have not been eating too well either, but I feel as though that is coming to an end also.

Have been keeping up with my exercise pretty well, so all is not lost. Yesterday a girl at Catherines, where I buy most of my clothes came up from behind and asked if I was losing weight. I know that something is going well if someone actually looks at my butt and thinks it is getting smaller! pretty sure that is the exercise.

Anyway, gave me a boost to my day.

I will be fine, I actually knew that when I wasn going through those days, so I just let it ride and made it through the best way I could.

Hope you are all well, and have a great day tomorrow.

I can't believe that I bought two very good used tennis rackets so we and friends and renters will have tennis rackets to use on the courts we have at the condo. I used to play a lot and I mean a lot of tennis. I'm getting excited at the prospect of hitting the fuzz off the balls again, haha. I wonder if that sport will hurt my back, LOL. I'll find out. Maybe I can get my DW out there too. She knew what she was getting into when she said yes, LOL. Y'all have a great spark'n day and stay your course. I hope you all get a good nights sleep. I'll be walking on cloud "9" thinking of the possibility of getting Freddie Couples in my Pro-Am group tomorrow. Stay your course, Stevegolfdog emoticon

Hi All,

I am back from Denver and visiting my newest grand daughter. I had a great time but, I was also glad to be home. I have missed you guys so much. I got on the scale for the first time in a week and I was down a pound. I really did watch what I ate but didn't do much exercise. I am still catching up on reading posts. I just wanted to say I am glad to be back. I will be back to work tomorrow, Lynn

RW- HAPPY BIRTHDAY to BETTY!! Hope you guys have a wonderful day together!!

Steve- Hope you enjoy your day on the course even if your not doing the swinging. Your new condo sounds real nice!

Kathy- you sound so perky today... amazing what a good night sleep will do .

I slept well myself last night and feel great.

Did my treadmill today since it's raining outside , and raining and raining! Our roof sprung a leak around the vent pipe that goes to the bathroom. Always something that needs to be done. Oh well the rest of the house is warm and toasty. Much appreciated on a day like this and feel bad for those who are without on a day like this.

Counting my blessing and staying busy. Have a good spark day!

RW Happy B-day to DW. emoticon

You will love the Droid. My DH loves his. He can hear better and read better.

Raining here today. Much needed rain. Will be on my way to get my flu shot shortly and run a few errands.

Water aerobics last night was great. Only lasts thru Oct. then Nov. And Dec swim team takes over the pool in the evenings. May have to switch to morning classes but hard for me to get out the door anymore early. Enjoy the days I do not have childcare. Love my GK's but still like me time.

Have a great day all! And thanks for a delicious breakfast RW. emoticon

Well, another spark'n day and good morning y'all. Today, my wife and I go to our senior bowling league and I won't be bowling for fear of pinching that nerve in my lower back again. I would try it with a back brace but I'm walking as a scorer in the Ensure Champion tours PGA tournament this week. I'll have to go and yell with the strikes, hahaha. It will be hard just to watch. Anyway, hope you all have a blessed day and happy spark'n. Stevegolfdog emoticon BUT NOT ME,LOL!!!! Oh, I can walk though

Kathy - I hope you can find out what your problem is. I was having problems sleeping at night - waking up every hour on the hour so I started taking a Tylenol pm to help me get better sleep. So far it works! emoticon

I couldn't get my bloodwork done today because the lab was closed by the time my appt with my doctor was done. I'll go by there in the morning before work. I felt much better today. My "issues" are so unpredictable. I will go ahead and start a trial of a low dose of Seroquel tonight. I sure hope this works. One side effect is possible weight gain. Sigh. However, if this really works, I should have energy to exercise the way I want to and be able to maintain some control of my weight..I hope. For those who are wondering, Seroquel is (at a much higher dose) is an anti psychotic medication. At a very low dose (I'm using 25 mg) it is used to treat sleep problems. Let's hope this works!! Keeping fingers crossed that I'll sleep all night tonight.

Hi all,
Sorry I went MIA for a couple days. Didn't get on the computer at all but behaved myself food wise and did my exercise. Funny thing is I've have been sooo hungry... tired, weak, tummy growling even dizzy but I have been eating the right calorie intake AND going over sometimes. I know I definitely need to listen to my body and eat when I feel like this but I think it's just strange.... I've never run into this before.??? I have lost some weight but I won't put it on my tracker until it stays that way for a while since it seems to bounce back and forth.

Char is doing okay.... she is going to see her Dr tomorrow. Those of us who have become her family (of sorts) all agree she needs some assisted living. It's too risky for her to be alone anymore.

Visited my other lady today.. Betty... she had some more stories to tell. What a character!!! I told her she should put all this down for a book... really I think people would enjoy it!

Gotta go do some exercise and stretches.
Bye all!!
emoticon

Oh forgot to mention... got the beginning of an ear infection... that's probably the dizzy part. I hate ear problems they take so much time to clear up. UGH!!

Kathy - your thyroid may be off. When mine went bad all I did was sleep and I hurt everywhere. My leg has been throbbing lately and I am hoping it is my varicose veins - I had an ultra sound on Thursday and am going for the results this Thursday.

Good morning everyone. I slept til 4, which is amazing! I have usually been waking up around 1 for a couple of hours, then going back to sleep. I'm still really tired. I'm entertaining the thought of staying home and resting. I'm sooo frustrated with being tired all the time. I'm definitely calling my doctor when the office opens this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day.

NJJAZZ, it seems that we have much in common. Even though I haven't lost any significant amount weight in a long while, I feel that I have accomplished a lot! The longer it takes to lose a pound, the longer it will stay lost, or so I've heard. Just maintaining my present weight is so much better than gaining!! emoticon I continue to empower myself with knowledge about healthy eating, and have also made major lifestyle changes over the years. Hi everyone..hope you all have had a good weekend.

Maxine-Congrats on your wedding anniversary! I hope you had a nice celebration.

DD and I took DH and SIL out for their birthday dinner last night. They decided they wanted to go to Outback. I enjoyed my Victoria's filet with fresh veggies and sweet potato. I took half of everything home and will take it to work for dinner on Tuesday.

I've been busy painting today. I'm really tired. I told DH I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow. I feel the way I did when I had mono years ago. DUnno if that is what the problem is or if something else is going on, but I think blood work is in order...

I need to go take a nap before I go grocery shopping, so will catch up more later.

Good morning and happy Sunday. We made it back late last night from MB. I had this funny feeling when we left our new condo and that was that we had no check out time, hahaha. We met all our neighbors and they all seem to be very nice. We exchanged contact info. One is the VP of the HOA and the husband and wife both golf. I'll have a ready foursome, hahaha. They just put in wifi free for everyone. That's nice for any renters too. I have not taken off my back brace for 20 hours now and it is amazing as to how it helps. I get right up out of a chair without any grimacing or pinching pain. I think I'll be able to walk in the PGA golf tournament. I will not bowl in my league this Tuesday but I'll go and route for my DW and team. We have a new person I do not know joining our team. I talked with him and he is excited to join us. To bad I won't be able to bowl. Well, it's a rainy day with thunder around here but the water is much needed. My lawn was starting to brown up a bit. See ya and happy spark'n, Stevegolfdog emoticon emoticon

Glad you are getting your fall stuff done. We had a cool day today, but sunny.

Had a nice time with my family, tired now, so to bed soon.

Steve - sorry to hear about your back - hope it gets straightened out soon - congrats on the condo!

Bonnie - your Doc sounds like a good guy.

So many of you and you all sound so delightful. Went to zumba this morning and got a lot of yard work done this afternoon. Trying to get all the fall stuff done before winter sets in.

Happy Anniversary. Hope you both have a really wonderful afternoon and evening. Glad for the sun.

It is shining here too! Yea!

Glad you friend is doing better.

STEVE

How exciting for you and your wife in your new lovely place. I know you will have fun making it your own, it sounds lovely and in a lovely area, with great amenities.

Sorry about your pinched nerve. Be careful with yourself. Hope you are better very soon. This has been a really long haul for you.

KATHY

Here's wishing that all of your work is done long before the 23rd, you need a rest. I am sure it will be just lovely.

I think, even if your exercise is not exactly what you want, that you are getting a lot just doing your jobs at home.

Please give yourself a break and allow yourself to recover each day from the work you are doing. I think I need to remind you that it actually hasn't been so terribly long since you had surgery. Heal my dear!

Thanks for the good words for my dad. Seems to be going well. He will be unable to bowl for 6 weeks, not making him happy, but he will do as he should.

MARGARET

I agree that your friend needs one of those devices that hangs around her neck to summon help. She can't keep this up, and you can't always get to her right away because you don't know she has fallen. Sounds as though she is in need of more care. That is a tough thing to go through for her and those who love her. Good luck and God Bless.

Glad you had a good day! Congrats.

I really do have good doctors. My GP, my GYN, and My chiropractor are all good to me and care about my health. I have been very lucky.

Slept well last night. Not too energetic today, I think the stress of the last few weeks is taking it's time leaving me with any energy left.

One day at a time, I am getting better though. Mom and I are going to my Uncle Jim's annual Barbershop sing and dinner theater tonight. There will be other family there, so it will be a good time.

Have a great weekend my friends.

God Bless.

Even though my sinuses are giving me grief the day looks so much brighter today. The sun is shining and my friend is coming home from the hospital. The growth they removed from her sinus cavity was about the size of a chicken egg. No wonder it was giving her so many problems, it was nearly all towards the inside.

Thursday after work I went to the farm to be there when the grandkids got off the bus from school and stayed til about 10:30. We played board games, tv games, they did their chores we snuggled a little and it was absolutely wonderful.

Today is our 39th Wedding Anniv. Hubby went to help his uncle move cows this morning and I am washing windows(making the day even brighter!!) Maybe we will do something this afternoon.

Yesterday I dug my few hills of potatoes in the flowerbeds, put the flower pots back out of the garage, not suppose to freeze for a few days, and cleaned up the yard a bit. Oh yah I also sewed some wheat bags to sell at the craft sales coming later this fall. Then in the evening friends came and we played cards.

For supper we had fresh potatoes, beets (also from my flowerbed) and pork tenderloin. yum.

hope all have a great day

Hello and good day to y'all!!
We spent our first night in our new condo. I found that one of the toilets was leaking so I replaced the bulb and it seems that's all it needed. My DW is doing her think with what she wants to do to the condo. She pulled out of a bag all these beach scene material she has been buying on the Internet, hahaha, to make pillows and tapestries and new seat covers for the glass dinning table and chair set. Too funny to go on. I found that our place comes with free wifi and they just put it in last week. The whole pool and spa area was just put in and finished a few months ago. I did not know that it all was brand new. We are going wash all the bedding it came with and we will check out the condition of our washer and dryer. Those are very rusty on the outside but the inside looks OK. I'm thinking of sanding and painting the outsides of those appliances. I further aggravated my new lower pack pain while in the hot tub last night. I could not get up nor walk nor lie down without extreme pain. I can not believe that had happened. I will have to just watch my DW and other team members bowl next Tuesday. My real fear is that I am supposed to be a walking scorer for the Ensure Champion's PGA golf tournament starting next Wed. I am supposed to do the Pro-Am on Wed. and then walk along side three pros each day on Friday, Sat. and Sun. The good news is that I went and bought a back brace today and I am already walking around and starting to feel no pain at all while walking. It's the bending and trying to stand back up what kills me, hahaha. Wow, it is close and I see light after that back brace. I had no idea if it would matter but it actually is working. I was going to call in and say I can't do it but now, I'll wait another day to see, but I feel I can do it now. Well friends, have a great day of spark'n. Stevegolfdog

Bonnie-I'm so glad to hear your father's surgery went so well! That's fantastic news! I'm sure you are all able to relax a little now; his recovery will take time, though..

Margaret-Thanks for your vote of confidence regarding me getting back on track. I sure hope you are right. I'm determined to get back to regular exercising. I gained weight this past week and am pretty bummed about that. I'm not going to let this get me down or it will wreak havoc on me, emotionally. How scary about Char! I'm so glad you happened to be visiting her. Can she get one of those call buttons to wear around her neck and push for 911 service??

RW- How sweet of your DGD to send the yummy fruit basket! The carrot cake sounds delicious, too. That's one of the few cakes I really like..hint, hint! LOL

Sandy-I'm definitely NOT "tireless"! LOL I've taken a lot of naps this week and slept through the night a couple of nights as well. Last night's sleep was interrupted but I did manage to sleep in til 8:30 this morning, which is a rarity for me. I hope I'll be productive today. Our house is such a pigsty! I really want to get it CLEANED!!

DH is working on the last 1 1/2 rows of flooring in the living room then we can move the living room furniture back in and I can get all the china, etc back in the china cabinet (it is all over the place in the guest bedroom right now-lol). He then needs to make customized wood thingies (LOL) for the doorways of the two hall closets and three bedrooms to place where the wood floor in the hall ends and over the carpets in the closets/bedrooms and linoleum in the bathroom (we're replacing the latter with tile-later!). We then need to get the wood flooring on the stairs done. Gotta finish all this before Oct 23 for DD and SIL's wedding celebration in our house that day!!

Bonnie-I know what you mean about watching the tv while doing the downward dog pose! LOL When I did the yoga dvd of P90x, my neck and shoulders were killing me from straining to look up at the tv so much-lol.

Maxine-Prayers winging their way for your husband and your friend! Life sure has been rough for you all lately. :-/

Steve-I'm so excited snd happy for you to have the condo sale completed! You all will enjoy so many wonderful days at the beach now! :-) I'm sorry to hear of your continued difficulties with the pinched nerve and I'm sure it has been extremely frustrating not to be able to do the things you normally do! I hope relief will come soon for you....

Ok...off to do some cleaning and finish ripping up the carpet on the stairs. I hope to check in later.

Big hugs to a fantastic team!!!

Checking in real late since we were without power most of the day. The wind was so strong it blew some lines down.

Steve- congrats on the condo- so happy for you.

Rw- Mmmm carrot cake is one of my favs. glad you got to enjoy your special day with your family.

Bonnie- sounds like you have a great Dr and a good working relationship that is a definite benefit for you.

Jan- how's it going? Has it cooled off any down there yet? We have some great deals on ranches in Michigan. One that I really like is in Fremont. 28 acres with large home and 5 stall barn, arena and trails. My DD and I like to look these over (just in the paper) what's funny is we always judge the property by the size and quality of the barn. lol

Did good with my calorie count today and got 2 miles in for exercise, too windy to go any further it felt like it could pick me up and blow me away.

Early this morning I called Char to see how she was doing ... and no answer..twice... so I went over there and sure enough she had fallen off her bed again. So ...called rescue... stayed with her made sure she had breakfast the whole thing. Sigh.

Well, better get to bed... hope the day doesn't start with rescue again tomorrow.

Margaret

Just checking in to say goodnight all.

Lazy day today. Fridays can often be that way for me.

Had an adjustment from Dr Mike, then went to Laurel for my massage.

Feel pretty good tonight.

Funny thing with my chiropractor. About 6 weeks ago or so, he gave me a small lift to put into the heel of my left shoe.

Have been wearing it, and my right S/I joing has not been bothering me nearly as much. That is where I have the majority of my back PAIN. it can get really bad there.

Now, My left side is quite tight, all the way from my knee to my neck. Not painful really, just pretty uncomfortable at times. Not nearly as much trouble as my right side.

Told Dr Mike this today and asked what he thought about continuing to wear the lift in my left shoe. Complained about the muscle tightness on the left.

He laughed. He said that my left side is the same as it always is. For years it has been tight.

I laughed then too. Told him, I guess since I was not having such terribly acute pain, now I am noticing the other aches and pains!

Am going to continue to use the lift. He wants me to do some yoga, and I think it is a good idea, but would like to get to a class as I have not done so in years.

Tried to do it with the TV class, and I am finding it difficult to look at the tv screen when doing the downward facing dog!

I will work it out. Just found this kind of funny, in a good way.

TGIF!!!!

I am so tired from my girls. Played 2 mornings with their toy farm animals and blocks before taking the 5yr old to school. Did some shopping and banking yesterday and just played the rest of the time. Picking kids up from 2 schools a day is tiring in itself. Will have to watch the little ones again tomorrow as my DH wants our son to work with him to earn extras cash to get caught up on his overdue bills.

As much as I love those girls, another day of play is just one thing I look to avoid.

Bonnie- Glad to hear surgery went well and Dad coming home. Will continue to pray for a speedy recovery.

Steve- No bowling? Bummer. Hope all goes well with the signing. You did have the condo inspected didn't you? That few extra bucks may find something you didn't see.

Kathy- you are tireless. Just reading all that you do makes me want to go to bed.

Same with a few others of you.

Off to finish my ironing as I will be busy tomorrow.

Have a great weekend! emoticon emoticon

That was a tough day for you and your friend. Praying for a good solution for her.

LISTA

Good for you for getting your exercise in in spite of life's little sabotage!

Glad your husband got out too!

DOROTHY

Hope you enjoyed your spin class and exercise tonight! I do know how much that helps everything.

MAXINE

Glad you had a good outcome for your friend. I am sure with such a long surgery, she is needing those pain meds.

Not sure what is wrong with your husband, I have missed a lot lately, but prayers for him, you and your friend.

STEVE

Congrats on the condo. Sorry about the bowling. Maybe you just over did it?

Hope that is all it is.

I didn't suppose for one minute that you would NOT be able to golf!

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support for my dad.

I slept very well last night. Felt much better today, and dad looked good when I went to see him tonight.

They are planning on letting him go home tomorrow. That will do him good too.

I appreciate all of your support.

I am very tired again tonight. Going to get to bed pretty soon. Last night slept from 10:00pm to 7:00am. That is a lot of sleep for me.

Do not have to get up early tomorrow, so I should sleep in a bit.

Have an appointment with Laurel for my massage, good timing on that.

Will go to the Y and work out, or swim, then to Dr Mike for an adjustment then to Laurel. Should be a good day.

God Bless and be with all of you.

Whew!! What a day - I'm bushed!!
Went to Char's has , as usual on my day to go see her, and found her on the floor. Poor lady had been laying there all night! She was very disoriented and and it took awhile to convince her that she WAS home. Tried to help her up (of course I couldn't, duh). She didn't want me to call her Dr ... or anybody... so , it sounds crazy I know, but I made some coffee and we sat on the floor together and talked. After finally convincing her that we needed to call for help, help came in the form of a police officer and Char's patient advocate. The officer and I were able to help her up and got her comfortable in her recliner chair. I stayed and did all the stuff I usually do for her while she slept soundly.
It breaks my heart... I know she can't be alone anymore... AWWW... just seems so unfair!!

Next got home in time to clean up and change and go help at the nursing home for a bit.

What a day... a lot to think about and process tonight. emoticon

Bonnie- Good news about your dad. emoticon It's good to get that off your mind and back to your exercise regimen etc.

We finally got the call about the closing of the condo in MB and we will leave early morning to do the signing and get the keys. Recording wont happen until Monday though but they said we can get the keys. That means we'll be able to spend one night there. (Sat.) We are excited to say the least.

I went to bowl practice this afternoon and I started to get a major stabbing in my lower right side back area. I guess my sciatic nerve is being pinched somehow. Man it's tough to get older. I did nothing weird but it seems that the mere act of throwing the bowling ball creates an aggravation of a nerve and that's not good. That means I may not be able to continue with the bowling. I might be able to throw 3 games per week without practice. I did bowl 11 games since Tuesday's league. That's not a lot but enough to do some damage I guess. I'm not a happy camper with that but happy with the condo finally becoming concluded. I wonder if I can get relief with some kind of shot around the area in my lower back. Anyway, I'll probably have to call my Orthopedic Doc and go from there. Well, y'all have a happy spark'n day. Stevegolfdog. I think I can still golf, hahaha.

Hi all

Bonnie - Glad everything went well with your Dad

My friend had her surgery yesterday and the growth wasn't twisted so they didn't have to lift her jaw bone. So the operation was about 5 hours and last night she was resting comfortably with drugs.

Now just have to get my husbands medical problems dealt with and hopefully my life will be back in order.

Everyone have a great day.

Bonnie emoticon Glad all went well with your Dad - exercise always helps with the tension!!

Kathy - If you are renovation - tht is a work out in it self. No wonder you are tired.

Margaret - it is definitely becoming fall here in PA. Pumpkins everywhere and the leaves are turning. Its hard to believe though - it has been in the hight 70's and low 80's this week. I have been hungry alot lately too and I think it is because I have just started lifting more weights.

Had a great night at the gym. Was going to do step class but that got missed because I had to rush home to try to help my DH get his truck unstuck from the muddy mess he got himself into. Lots of rain mixed with a garden area that maybe he shouldn't have been trying to drive through with a heavily loaded trailer behind him equals a truck stuck in mud up to its frame. I looked at that and knew there was nothing my suv could do to help and told him he's going to have to call in more help than I could provide. So 2 hours later he gets it out in the rain. But I had a good time at the gym! Just an example how life tries to sabotage your work out plans. I found a great workout though...watch an hour long show, walk during the show but you have to run during the commercials. Provided a nice workout!

Bonnie - hope your Dad is doing well.

Margaret - it certainly is getting to be fall in Minnesota. The boxelder bugs are going crazy this time of year getting ready for winter so they are annoying sitting all over the outside of the house. Trees are starting to turn a little. The apple orchards are doing business. And there are caramel apples in the grocery stores...a sure sign of fall!

Lista - in Minnesota

Bonnie- so glad all went well, been waiting to hear from you. Glad the exercise helped with the stress. Take care.

Kathy- You're such a go getter when it comes to working out, I'm sure you'll get back on track in no time.

Did good today with calories, but seem to be hungry a lot. Trying real hard to eat well. Added some upper body weight training, or rather finally got serious about it, and can feel it in my shoulders and arms today. Yesterday had pulled a calf muscle when I was out riding but a lot of stretching and walking today helped to work that out and it feels fine now.

Today is the first day of fall and we haven't had a killing frost yet. Hmmm... should be soon. Leaves are starting to get a bit of color though.

There should be a lot of October fests coming up. How about it are there any in your "neck of the woods"? What are some of the fall activities that ya'll like to do?

Bonnie - so glad all went well with the surgery on your dad. Hopefully you can get some well deserved rest tonight, and he will be well on his way to a full recovery by tomorrow.

All of your prayers were answered, my dad is doing fine. I could tell that the dr was very pleased with the way the surgery went. They want him to stay as still as possible, and he will be in intensive care at least for today. Maybe a room tomorrow.

Thank you all.

I went to the Y and worked out for an hour after I dropped my mom off at the hospital, since dad was in the ICU. Talked to her and he seems fine, just the no movement is difficult. His back hurts a lot, but he has a back like mine, that was to be expected.

I am totally exhausted, the Y helped with the stress. I think I will be in bed pretty early tonight!

God Bless all of you

Hi everyone...I haven't logged onto this team in a few days. :-(

RW-Tomorrow is my DH's birthday, too! I hope you have a fabulous day. :-) DH will be 52. My son in law's birthday was today and he is now 32.

Bonnie-I know you aren't gonna be on today, but my goodness, your parents' accident the other day must have been traumatic for them and for you! I hope and pray your dad's surgery went well today.

I've been busy at work. Our EHR system was down for several days, which wreaked havoc on our paperwork! I'm getting caught up on mine now....

No running since Sunday. I've been so tired/worn out lately. I think the renovations kind of messed with my workout plans. I hope I can get back on track soon.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Have to drropp off some clothes and glassware at the local thrift shop and run some errands. Will check back later to see how everyone is,

Bonnie- That is amazing that no one was hurt. Will definitely pray for your Dad tomorrow and for his Dr. too.

Had a great day today. So busy it seems like two days in one. Went horse back riding today, the weather was gorgeous. I was so hungry when I got back that I ate over my calorie count but when I ran my daily differential I was still -810. Wish I had the time to ride every day I'd be skinny in no time.Lol

Had a bit of excitement on the ride, first a deer jumped up and ran off into the woods which spooked my Zahra. After that she was sure something was lurking - just waiting to eat her. Sure enough a tiger-bunny ran out from the bushes and frightened poor Zahra again. So , lets just say- I definitely burned a lot of calories today. LOL My poor baby is back in her stall -- safe from all the scary wildlife. LOL

Take care all and happy sparking. Or should I say-- find the spark in your life and let it burn (calories that is).

Hope your mom is doing ok today. It is so difficult to worry about them.

Bonnie- Sorry to hear about your folks accident. Hope they are doing ok today. And tell your Dad good luck tomorrow!! My mom fell yesterday. She always helps the Presbyterian ladies make pies at church that they sell. Anyway one of the ladies accidentally tripped Mom. She hurt her elbow and head. She has a dr appt tomorrow and will have it checked.
We had a windy rainy storm today. A lot of trees down in town. Very quickly it rained 2.6 inches this afternoon.

Oh Jan- Big decisions to make. I do think you need to really think about what makes you happy. If working on the farm does not make you happy and serves no purpose then you should sell. But if you find pleasure in it and can still afford it then maybe you should try to keep it. What did you do before you had all the animals in your life? Were you happy then?

Have a wonderful trip and a great time with that new little one!

MARGARET

My Mom and Dad had a car accident yesterday afternoon on the way home from their vacation. They were going 70 miles per hour as was the lady that hit them, they were in her blind spot. They went into the median, and spun around. The ground was soft and damp, so it slowed them down and they were not hurt. The people that hit them seemed to be ok too. It was a miracle that no one was injured, and no one went into the other lane of oncoming traffic.

My Dad is having surgery for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm on weds. At 84, that is a bit scary too. Thank you for the prayers and good thoughts.

Have been doing very well with my exercise. One of the big motivators for me is that I am finally finding a good way to exercise that seems to be strenghtening my back muscles, so my back is feeling pretty good. Am not doing so well with my eating, but the exercise seems to be keeping my weight stable. Another good thing.

This too shall pass, and I will be ready to eat better soon. I keep reminding myself that a little while ago, I was working to get down to 269. Now, I am ranging about 3 pounds from 263 to 266. Very good for me.

Have to look at all of the positives to get through the tough times.

Have a good Tuesday my friends!

Hi all, It seems I can only find little snippets of time to get on and visit , but, I'll take what I can get.
Made a re-commitment (again) to working out the way I need to to lose weight and cut back on calories. Been trying to get back into a schedule of some kind; for some reason everything seems topsy turvy (love that expression lol). Life is good though ; still feeling the effects of my get-away.

Bonnie- I missed something about your parents. Glad all is okay and keeping your Dad in prayer for his surgery.

Jan- wow... 3 hour drive and all the 'at home' work!
I agree with Steve it would seem the driving is taking too much of your day. My DH used to drive 2 to 3 hours one way to work and was always exhausted by the end of the day. Hope you find a solution soon. One thought occurred to me, of course I don't know if it would work for you but here goes; what about sharing home/barn/chores with another lady who might be in the same predicament. Someone with horse and job and too many expenses and not enough time. It would have to be someone reliable and willing to work out a schedule of time/chores/costs etc. Just a thought.

RW- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! emoticon emoticon singing the Happy Birthday song for you!! emoticon

Well, gotta run. We're watching Jackie Chan tonight- sounds like they started without me!

Hi All,

I am just getting ready to leave for Denver to see my newest grand daughter. I should be able to check in with you all when I am there.

Jan...that is a tough decision. Do you have any thoughts on where you would go? Then you could do a comparison of the two places. What kind of work do you do? How long have you been in your current location? Sorry to ask so many questions but it helps to have all the facts.

Bonnie....I am glad that your parents are OK. I bet that was quite a scare. It is good to see you back with us. I will be praying for your Dad during his surgery on Wednesday.

I better get to the airport, so I'll talk to you all later, Lynn

Thanks Guys.

RW I thought I had better wish you an early happy birthday, 'cause with my Dad's surgery on Weds, this will be another crazy week!

Have to get the ball rolling early, and enjoy it late too!

Seventy two is beginning to seem younger and younger to me every day!

Enjoy your birthday week!

Thanks for the early birthday wishes you guys, actually my BD is on thursday - I'll be 72 this year! How'd that happen? emoticon

Jan- time for you to get on with making a decision and just do it. Sitting on the fench is only getting you a sore butt emoticon

The mornings here in Florida are real nice right now, then the day soon turns hot. I have been missing my daily workouts and I'll get back into my program soon. Weight has been pretty stable but I really want to get the waist down.

Bonnie - that's traumatic what your folks went through on the highway, thank God they are ok. Hope you are too.

Happy Birthday RW- I hope you have a great day and you get everything you wished for. Have a nice walk on the beach too on me.

Bonnie- I'm glad your family members made it through the car accident and they only got shaken up.

JAN- I think the biggest problem is how far you have to drive to go to work. Can you move closer to work or find a job closer to you home? Caring for animals can become time consuming but they are great companions to have. I have now idea what's it like to manage two horses. I do have two dogs and they are enough. I can see why people move to maintenance free homes. I mow our lawn once a week and that is too much. I do get free exercise though. I call it Gods fitness center. Anyway.....
Y'all have a great day. Stevegolfdog

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of deciding what changes to make, and how to go about doing it. PS, we have horses in Ohio, and ask Margaret, Michigan. As I said before, I am afraid our winters would make your summers look good.

Well, I am a bit shaken tonight.

Mom and Dad had a car accident coming home from vacation this afternoon. It is a miracle that both they and the poeple in the car that hit them were not all killed. All seem to be ok. I went over there as soon as I found out they were home, and they seem fine. May go to the dr tomorrow in case there is a problem, but tonight just wanted to be home.

They were in the blind spot of this woman, and she clipped them in the right front light and fender and sent them into a spin in the median, I guess they went around at least 3 times. Then, she and her husband went sailing, I guess they were literally airborn, further along the midian. All of their tires were shredded.

AAA came and told mom and dad they could drive home, so they did.

I am pretty sure we had a miracle today. Thank God. I have decided that if God had wanted my dad, he would have taken him today, so I am treating this as a sign that the surgery will go well on Weds.

Not sure when I might get to sleep tonight, just way keyed up, but grateful!

Jan - what a terrible deleima to have. Have you thought about getting someone to housesit and look after the place for a while, rent something closer to where you work and see how it goes. At least then you can go back if you choose

I'v kinda been there so I have you in my thoughts

OOOoooh, THANKS everyone! More specifics.....

I live on almost six acres now, with a cat, a dog, and two horses (and all the stuff that goes with them). I mow, fix fences, clean out the water troughs, clean out the pond, keep up the truck and trailer, keep up the car and the yard, keep up the house and the animals. I work 85 miles from where I live, so I drive three hours a day, and work eight to ten hours a day. It wasn't so bad before the TEXAS summerthatwouldn'tquit began. I realize that I am very blessed and I am very grateful that I can manage to keep it all together. But I think that there has got to be more to life than this. I can't remember when I last went off this place for anything but groceries or work. My stuff is definitely owning me!! Anyway, I am very comfortable here and have been blessed to have experienced all of this on my own. But I think I would like to try something else before it gets too late. What do you think?

It's what you learn AFTER you know it all that's important.

Jan - like I said one day at a time - you will figure it out - I am sure.

Cynthia - hope your day got better!

RW - it sound like heaven - a walk on the beach.

Kathy - hope you got your painting done.

Margaret -it is probably a good feeling to get the computer clean and rearranged.

Zloie - you will get back into the swing of things.

Lista - sound like a wonderful day!

Had a wonderful weekend in Buffalo with three of my girls - now back home trying to get a few things done and off to Pittsburgh tomorrow for a couple of Dr appointments with DH.

Have a great night all.

WOW! Go away for a few days and we have a little life changing talk.

Jan, I agree, you need to be mor specific in what you want to change. Then we can give advice.

Just feeling hopeless? A little prayer and keep yourself open to what is around you. Something will come your way unexpectedly. Yes it is al about one day at a time.

Had a wonderful weekend in Grand Rapids, MI with our nephews wedding. It was beautiful as all weddings are and it was great to be with family. Good food too.

Looking forward to a couple of days of yardwork as I will not have have my girls all day this week. Weather supposed to be more fall like and there are an awful amount of leaves already. Time to cut some stuff back too. Without some good rain this summer, my perennials have not done well.

Saying good morning on the run again. Still trying to catch up with myself! I rearranged my computer room and moved the computer (cleaned emoticon ) ... now I seem to be having a hard time getting back to the habit of checking in and tracking everything. Amazing what a small change can do, I've definitely learned that this SP is needed by me and it has to be 'easy access'.

Jan-- what a hard decision to have to make. We have only two horses (and various other critters) and it can seem hectic sometimes ... I can imagine the amount of work you are responsible for. Good luck in whatever you decide... hopefully you get a chance to get away for a bit then come back and see how you feel about it. This past week I was able to get away for a few days and I was amazed at how clear minded I felt when I came back.

Take care , hope I can check in later, with more time. hahaha emoticon

Jan-What a tough decision you have to make! I can understand your need to get away from all that if it is overwhelming/stressful. One thing to remember if you decide to move is to try to be somewhere where you will have a support system. I stress this to people I work with all the time. Having others to provide you with emotional support, whether they are friends, family, church members, etc, can go a long way in helping us through difficult times in our lives. You might want to make a list of pros and cons of staying where you are and a list of pros and cons of moving to another location (do you have a specific place in mind? Aren't you originally from England??). Use us (or someone) as a sounding board! I think it helps to "think out loud" and hear feedback from others -especially those who know you! Big hugs, Jan!

A move to make one happier, hmmmmm. 100 degree weather you don't like, hmmmmm. Tough call, especially if you are working. If you don't need to work and are retired, then I say move. I live in NC and people around here have horses in their backyards all over the place. It was 85 and it got to 65 late last night. I don't know, it's tough to change stuff like that. I like Bonnie's point of taking it one day at a time but I also like long term goals and plans. Keep think'n, you'll figure it out. Just don't give up. The condo closing is put off until Thursday or Friday and that's not placed in stone. We really want to drive down there and get the keys and stay at the new place and see if we need to buy new beds, hahaha. It came furnished. My DW, is planning all kinds of stuff to do to the condo. I like it just the way it is, hahaha. She is going nuts with looking for stuff. I like simple and less stuff. She is from Venus and I'm from Mars, hahaha. Hey, ya'll have a great spark'n day. Good Morning,
Dorothy -Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I am thinking about moving. Really seriously moving away from here, and from this lifestyle which has become so draining. I know they say that you take your problems with you, but most of my problems are coming from trying to keep the ranch lifestyle (that I enjoyed) now that I am single (and older). And it STILL over a hundred stinking degrees down here emoticon
ZLOIE2 - Obviously I have no idea how to increase energy or I would have increased my own. I think stress is draining, so I would say take time to relax, as well as time to exercise. If you are lucky you will find some type of exercise that is relaxing to you, good luck!
Bonnie - I am struggling, but I will do what I have to do. I will so miss the horses.
Dianna - Good to see you here too!
Steve - I hope you are enjoying the weather, and getting in some golf!!

It's what you learn AFTER you know it all that's important.

Good mroning! I'm almost positive we'll get the living room floor finished today! Then, all that will be left is the stairs! I have been painting baseboards and the molding that goes up against the baseboard where it meets the floor (painting them outside, then we will nail them in and touch up-much easier than risking getting paint on the floor!). I also need to finish ripping up the carpet from the stairs today.

Jan-What kind of changes are you asking for help? It sounds like you feel stuck in a rut or are emotionally discouraged.

Bonnie-You are in my thoughts and prayers, whatever is going on with you.

Lynn-Our resident model! That's cool! :-) That's a fabulous step for you, to be able to step (literally and figuratively) in front of people like that! This may be good for your emotional growth and confidence level, hmm??

Steve- It's good to hear you are able to enjoy golfing again..I hope the pain has subsided somewhat. Are the exercises helping? Congrats on closing on your MB condo soon!

Lista-Your day yesterday sounds like it was fun! Always nice to have those girlfriend days. :-)

Zloie-Make sure you get enough sleep...Have you had your thyroid checked by your doctor? That may be something to rule out to be sure you don't need some type of medication. Maybe add taking a multi vitamin daily. I know that taking my vitamin daily helps with my energy level somewhat. Also, if you exercise daily, that actually will (eventually) boost your energy level as well. Try to do at least ten minutes of exercising daily..or ten minutes twice a day: take a nice, brisk walk in the morning and again in the evenings. The weather is perfect for that these days.

OK--I need to get started painting! Have a good day, everyone!

This has been the worst week as far as exercise. I have to make myself get up and move. Having hot flashes to. Just no energy. Sticking to my food and staying on the low end of calories. Any ideas to increase energy? Going to start fresh on monday and really push myself to get up and do it.

Kathy - congrats on the weight loss. I bet you are thrilled you are almost done with the floors. What a big job. We were just discussing what we should do with the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. They need a redo. The ideas are flowing, but what a job that will be.

Lynn - so you can add model onto your resume now, wow!

Had a great day with having coffee with a good friend, shopping for some new clothes and then went and had a pizza party that was work related but we got to make our own pizzas and just have fun with each other. More fun that I thought it was going to be. Need to get to the gym tomorrow.

My only answer to changing your life is one day at a time.

The problem is, what changes do we want to make? What are you thinking about?

STEVE

Good that you are closing on your condo. Congrats.

There are a couple of new people here since I have missed most of the week. Welcome

It seems as though you are fitting right in, I feel like the new guy!

I am ok, just very busy.

Wishing you all a great rest of the weekend!

God Bless.

Hi Everyone,

We had a fashion show at work. Everyone had to work today except me. So when they called 2 hours before the show, I guess I shouldn't have answered. One of the models got sick and they wanted me to stand in for her. I hate being the center of attention. I won't even let anyone have a birthday party for me. They begged and I caved. I had one hour to get fitted for the other gal's clothes. Thank God she wasn't a size 4!! Anyway, I did it. I know that before losing 30+ lbs I would never have done it. I can't say I would do it again, but just getting up there in front of a crowd was a big step for me.

I have to work tomorrow and then Monday I leave to see the new grand daughter in Denver. I will be there a week but I am sure I will have computer access.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, Lynn

Jan you changed your sign in name! I haven't been on SP in ages. Good to see you here. How do you change your life? WOw big question. Are you referring to diet changes or men? I'd guess it could be both? I use to hear you talking about going on vacations with your horses and going on trail rides. Do you still do that? What are you doing now for a job? Is that going well? Man I think I have more questions than answers sorry!!

When one golf, even with using a cart, you get about 1200 calories burned off. It's great fun and exercise. Hey, if you want to go and take advantage of a great price for a week. Just let me know. I will have a nice 2/2 as my second home. My DW and I don't really want to just open it up to the general public but y'all are just fine, hahaha. Anyway, have a great spark'n day. Stevegolfdog
