Bonnie-That is definitely soemthing to toot your horn about-being able to moderate what you eat compared to how you used to eat! :-) WTG! emoticon

Gretchen-You've been a busy beaver in your garden! That takes a lot of energy to do all that work. I bet the gardens look beautiful.

Had two parties today, one at my cousins, and one that Laura and Derek had here at home. Went over my calories, but I will be fine.

Party tomorrow, am sure I will be ok.

During these holiday times, I simply make myself realize how much MORE food and drink I would have had before Spark People.

Over is one thing, before it would have been at least double. Progress, not perfection!

Enjoy your day tomorrow those of us who celebrate this holiday!

Hi All,

Been absent because I cut back on my computer time. I have been outdoors racking up the fitness minutes. Yesterday I used my DR Trimmer for 2 hours and boy what a workout I got. emoticon Then I spent some more time in my verbena garden pulling weeds. I think one more day will take care of those weeds. My next garden to tackle will be my cactus garden. emoticon They can be kind of nasty once in a while, especially if I happen to move just the wrong way. emoticon

I think if I could meet my carb requirements daily I might be able to reach my goal sooner. It seems I am always under on carbs and fiber. Fiber I don't really think I need all they say I do because if I meet what SP suggests I have to stay very near a bathroom. emoticon

Well I have to get back to reading all the posts so I can catch up for the week. emoticon

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick hello and I gotta run. Two birthdays this weekends and lots of teenage friends over. Can you say PIZZA! lol

House (more like frequent check-ups) sitting for some in-laws down the road and get the use of their pond. Beautifully landscaped and manicured along with dock, paddle boat and covered pavilion. LOADS of fun, fun!

Kind of hard not to snack, snack. Oh, boy!

Not over my calories but it's sooo tempting!!

Bye all, enjoy your weekend!!!

Hi All,

Sounds like everyone is having a busy and fun weekend. The weather here is finally heating up. Should be high 90's all week and then 100+ by next weekend. The temp in the pool is 75 which is still too cold for me. Should be 80+ in the next week and then I'll be in there. I can't wait! We are just taking it easy around the house this weekend. I'll check back later, Lynn

Howdie, I'm back! I missed one day and a half and I see lots of posting go'n on. You all are blog'n away, hahaha. I have lots to read now. Man, it's very hard to stay the course when you are at someone eles house. There was no thought of what calories are. Everything that was put out to eat was nothing that I would have put out, hahaha. They had hot dogs, chili, avocado with rice dish. Oh yeah, the pork tenderloin was perfect and that's what I would have made, as well. No salads, (sad to say) The desserts were very high in calories. Oh no, the cheese toast!!!! She had a veggie dish with cream cheese and mushroom soup with croutons. The list goes on. Lots of chips and candy. I was way out of my element. Well, I'm making salad and fruit for dinner tonight and I'm back at it. Happy Memorial weekend. Stevegolfdog emoticon

Glad to hear from you. Sometimes I have gotten far enough behind that I have had to pick up at the next place! We all do the best we can, but after all life is what we are doing too!

SUE

GLad you had such a wonderful time with your friends. I guess this is just an ordinary weekend for you. Funny to think of the distance between us when we feel like we are in each other's back yard!

Enjoy your Sunday.

NANA

It is a great thing, a 4 year old can just give you his/her joy and you didn't even ask! God bless 4 year olds!

WOW. emoticon emoticon emoticon

You have worked so hard and have done so well with your running. Yea you.

So glad you enjoyed yourself and were able to be so proud of you! So what for the 50 year old!

"you done good girl"

KATHY

So good to see you able to do the stuff you are used to doing. Seems as though you are really close to being 100% back. emoticon

Glad you are enjoying your weekend.

I did get all of my cookies baked last night, and most of the mess cleaned up. I have a few cookie sheets that I use to frost cookies on, and the ones I baked on to be washed yet, but not in a hurry. Will do that later. Was tired by the time I was done last night.

I made the cookies quite small for anyone that wants to have a cookie and still feel as though they did not go overboard, and anyone that wants more can eat two!

I did actually end up eating 2 small cookies last night. I did not have enough calories in for the day, and I was getting a message to change my calorie range because my exercise calories are up. I will not do that, at least right away. I do not really think that I am getting as many calories burned as the fitness tracker says. I am doing some swimming, more actually each time I go, but because of my back, I am doing a lot of gentle movement and exercise in the water as I do laps. When I actually am up to swimming all of the time I am in the pool, then I will reconsider.

My back is pretty good today. I am going to the Y to swim before I go to the family party at my cousin's house.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing!

Bonnie

Hi everyone! I've truly enjoyed the long weekend so far. We watched "Invictus" on Thursday night and "It's Complicated" last night. Both are great movies! I ran daily every day except last Tuesday and have done weight lifting 4 times. I'm very happy with that. :-)

I've already gotten my run in today. No weight lifting (need a rest day). I'll be doing general cleaning and working on reorganizing my jewerly making supplies-what a mess. I can't find anything!

Bonnie-cookie dough is a weakness of mine. Yum! We love fresh chocolate chip cookies so I buy the huge tub from BJs. My kids have eaten almost all of it in one week!! I'm not buying anymore for awhile-lol. I hope your back is continuing to "behave"!

Maxine-yuck about the snow. I hope it has melted now.

Lynn-I'm sorry to hear DH is so worn out from the radiation. It sounds like you are both dealing with it pretty well in general, though. I'll keep him in my prayers. I hope you get the job! What is the position and company for which you interviewed?

Joanne-I'm impressed that you helped lay a subfloor! I'm like you-a lot of fear when it comes to construction. I did help DH lay roof shingles on a shed he was building for his BIL when we were first dating. He got a kick out of how long it took me to hammer a nail-lol.

Will probably check in later to see what's going on!

Also having a great long weekend. I walked in a 5k walk yesterday and placed 5th. I walked a 14 minute mile and according to my fancy little garmin watch at one point I was cruising at a 10 minute mile pace. Had a lot of fun. I beat a lot of 20 30 and 40 year old. But I was beat by a 50 year old. Ouch that hurts a 52 year olds pride. It was hot and I had to slow down to breathe some so I am not complaining at all. It was during a Scottish festival and the bagpipers were all out in full kilts practicing for their competitions. Great music to walk to. I had to drive 90 minutes back home and had a little edema to deal with last night. Dang it bites sometimes getting older. But again it beats the alternative.lol
Im taking it easy and reading today. I hope the rest of you are able to have a nice relaxing Sunday too
Enjoy

Happy,Sunday people!!!! Weather here,not too bad...I think we'll see a little of the sun today....not warm yet,though....

Homemade cookies, hot out of the oven! Yum!! It's been years since I have baked cookies. There are a lot of people here who bake all the time so I have no need to because they take them to the social room for people to eat with coffee. I have all the equipment to bake anything I want but then I don't want to make the mess or have the temptation to eat them.

I am behind on posting. I did try but lost it and then it was late so I had to go to bed. So I will try to catch up on everyone tomorrow. It's almost midnight here and my eyes are closing.

Later.

Sounds as though you had a great day all the way around! Accomplished something you thought you couldn't do, and burned lots of calories too! Yea!

I think I want an invitation to your daughter's friends place too!

Have a good day tomorrow, or,er, later today I guess now.

I helped my husband lay a new sub floor in the porch today. I'm not good at that sort of thing, but he encourages me and I lose some of my fear. Anyway, it was a great workout! I did some painting in our downstairs bathroom after that, which also counts, according to Spark. Needless to say, I'm happy about the calories burned. It's about time, for me!

Tomorrow will be a little more of the same. Then Monday, we have some of the family members over for BBQ. I always joke that my daughter doesn't join us because she "got a better offer." One of her friends has a cabin by a lake up north. Maybe dh and I should wangle an invitation!

Three days away from work is a nice break, any way you look at it.

Glad DH is handling this "journey" so well. He has to have lots of intestinal fortitude! You are dealing well also it seems. This has to be a very difficult time.

Your new picture looks great. You look so thin!

Good luck with the job.

At Christmas, which is usually the only time I make these cookies, I make so many, I am talking hundreds of cookies, that I have learned, just since SP to prepare myself to NOT eat them while I am baking them. SOmetimes I might taste one, but not right now. I am eating pretty well, and exercising so I don't want to spoil how that is going.

Have a party Sunday and Monday so that is challenge enough!

Hi All,

Just checking in. DH finished his first week of radiation. He is getting pretty tired but otherwise it is going well. He had to get mouthguards to wear at night with floride to protect his teeth. And he now wears them for the treatments also. I had my interview with the District manager yesterday. It went well....she is very professional and would be easy to work for. She asked me how much pay I wanted and I told her. I will hear this week one way or the other. Still too cold to use the pool. I really like my morning walks. I am going 4-5 miles per day. I didn't lose any weight this week but I lost a couple of inches. No plans for the weekend...just relaxing at home just me and DH.

Kathy.....happy anniversary! It sounds like you had a wonderful time. And it will probably always be on a long weekend...how nice. I am glad you sent a link to the captain's chair.

Bonnie....That is a lot of willpower not to taste the cookie batter. I don't think I could do it. I am glad you asked about the captain's chair...I thought the exact same things that you did. Great minds think alike.

Sue...congrats on losing 4lbs. Hey, take it anyway you can get it. I don't know how you can work 12 hour shifts, that would probably kill me. Enjoy your long weekend, you sure deserve it.

Everyone, have a wonderful Memorial Weekend, Lynn

Thanks Bonnie The snow is melting now as it comes down but it is still laying everywhere. They are forcasting snow or showers for the next week. Yuk!! We do however still need the moisture. I made bran muffins and I did have one for a snack this afternoon. I went for a 1/2 mile walk to get a few things and I crocheted while I watched an old movie this morning.

So far so good.

Well, it got up this morning to SNOW about 2 inches of it and still coming down. It's really wet and some now is melting as it comes. But this is spring in Alberta

Sue - I live about 6 hours or so south east of Grand Cashe but one of the neighbors daughter and family live there. Small world

My husband is back to work this morning so with the weather this will be a challenge day for me & food. Hopefully keeping my fingers moving crocheting will be enough to keep me out of the cupboards. I will walk to the store to get some milk and fruit later. Think I will make some bran muffins today.

Hope everyone has a nice sunny day to start the weekend.

Glad you have had a sleep study. When I first began to have sleep issues, I blamed it on menopause. It was not until about 12 years later that I had a sleep study done and found out about the sleep apnea. It has really only been the last 6 to 8 months that I have found a mask that I am really comfortable with, and that I don't rip off in the night 'cause I feel claustrophobic. The cpap made a huge difference even when I was not able to sleep as well, much better but not really enough sleep. It has been an almost 6 year journey with good, but limited results, but I really think this new mask will be what helps me the most. I was averaging about 6 hours of sleep a night for the year before in February when I last saw the Dr, and now, I am pretty sure that I am getting closer to averaging 7 to 8 hours. Having less sleepness nights. Being able to get to sleep better. I can't tell you how much better I am feeling. Now if we can get this back thing over with, I will be good to go for summer.

KATHY,

I am hoping the same for you. Maybe one day they will find something that helps better with the RSL. I have that also, BTW. Getting old ain't for sissy's!

Now I know what a Captain's Chair is! I had in my mind a chair for in the house, or the chairs the used to put in all of the RV's!

STEVE

I am sure your body will let you know what your "set point" should be. One of the great things, if we listen,(I have not been so good at that), our bodies will tell us!

I am excited for you to be having such a marvelous weekend, and with family too! Sounds just beautiful. Enjoy it all!

Mixed up the cookie dough and the frosting for the cookies I am taking to a party at my cousin's house tomorrow, and at my friend Amy's house on Monday. It is funny how at certain times, if you make cookies, you just want to eat and eat them. Then, others, like how I am today, I just know I will not eat more than one or two on each day. Told Laura and Derek they will have to test them tonight when they come home, 'cause I am doing no taste testing.

I have made these cookies so many times, it is really unnecessary, I know when I make the batter if they are ok.

Went to the Y yesterday, worked out in the water and swam for 45 minutes. Going over today before I bake cookies. That way I will make sure to get it done!

My back seems a bit better today. Keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Wishing all of you a beautiful, and loving weekend with family and friends.

Enjoy the beginning of summer!

Bonnie

Steve, I'm actually exhausted on days I don't sleep well. I slept from 10:30 last night til 2:30 am, then went back to bed from 5 until 7:30. That's only 6.5 hours of sleep. I've seen doctors and been to a sleep disorder clinic for a sleep study. All they found was that I have RLS. I take medication for that which helps some. I think the primary problem is simply menopause. I think most of the women on this list can relate to my experience. It's very frustrating. I've tried different medications-sleep meds do NOTHING for me. :-/ I've basically learned to "deal with it". I take naps on days I have very little sleep, if I can.

Good morning,
Kathy- Do you take naps? Do you feel tired throughout the day. I think there are people who just don't need a lot of sleep I think and you might be one of them. Just think how much you can get done by not wasting away sleeping. It could be a good thing. What does your Doc. say?

Bonnie- My height is 5 feet 10.5 inches. I lost one inch with my hip replacements it seems. I'm just going to watch what my body does and see if that fat around my mid section goes completely away. I have this feeling that I'll drop to around 175. I think that will be my staying weight. We'll see!

My DW and I are going up to stay with my DW's sister. She's a park ranger in Oak Knob State Park and they gave her a very nice house up on a hill top. She is having us all over for BBQing and spend the night. I'm hoping to go walking on the Blue Ridge Parkway or maybe up and down her hill and Oak Knob. We'll see. It should be fun. I'm looking forward to BBQ food. Happy Memorial Weekend y'all and stay your spark'n course.

That's weird...I hit refresh and my post from yesterday morning showed up again. What's up with that?? Anyway...sleepless in Bowie here. :-/ I've been awake since about 2:30 and finally gave up and got out of bed.

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary and after a long drive (we had to deal with Memoria Day traffic-everyone was heading for the MD and DE beaches!) we picked up the Captain's Chair, which is also known as a Power Tower (which I believe is actually the correct name for it). Bonnie, you can see a picture of this here: www.ehow.com/how_5138581_use-power-t

Hi everyone!

Steve- congrats on reaching your goal weight! And good luck on maintaining.

Bonnie-Poor Ellee-she does sound like a trooper! I hope her blood test shows negative for mono so she can get on with her surgery! :-( I hope Dr. Mike has been able to help you with your back this week...How are you doing with that now?

Sue-I can SO relate to your sleep problems! I hope that gets back on track. Congrats on losing your weight-at least you can move past where you were two weeks ago now! Hope you get to do some running soon. It does take a bit of time to get back into it and your work schedule sounds pretty brutal. :-/

Baglady-SNOW??!! Ugh...hope you get better weather soon!

Today is our One Year wedding anniversary! We will go out to eat at the restaurant where we were married on their private beach. Looking forward to it. We are also going to go look at a Captain's Chair I saw advertised on Craigslist. It is only 50 bucks! What a great deal and I've wanted one for a long time. This will be a great addition to our home gym equipment. :-)

Ok-time to go run! Have a wonderful day and great Memorial Day weekend, everyone.

Maxine you are making me tired. Hope you enjoyed your day.

SANDY,

this divorce is as hard, or harder on you than those actually involved in it. God Bless for giving the children a safe place to be, but I know it is tough for you.

Hope you get to enjoy your Sunday and Monday and relax.

JOANNE

Hope your get together turns out to be a good one!

STEVE

I think that your body will change with your exercise and your healthy eating and the fat will still go away even if you don't get to 175. It will be interesting to see how it goes. You appear to be a rather tall man. Hmmm, keep us posted!

Well I think frost is eminent. It is already only 34 degrees. Put my pots in garage and guess the rest will have to fend for themselves. We had 8 tenths of rain last nite and was kind of misty all morning. They are still forcasting snow, HOPE NOT

Did lots of walking today anyway. Twice carried a gallon of paint from uptown. Played cards tonite with friends as husband is working. He doesnt usually work at nite but they are redoing the postoffice and they have closed it now til Monday morning so they can paint and lay new flooring.

Have one more double bed size afagan ordered and have about 1/3 done so if the weather is not nice maybe get it finished in the next couple days.

Guess I better get at it, Good nite to all

Gosh, it is friday right? I have been so busy with DGD's and other stuff, I have not had time ot check in with all of you.

I am beat. After a day of park time, weeding and laundry while watching a 5 and 2 yr old, I have watered my garden, stopped to read a few pages after dinner with a cup of jo on the back deck. Kind of chilly so here I am with you.

Weekend not looking like I can relax. Have to kid watch in the mornign for awhile, grocery shop, and get to some yard work, then dance recital for one of the 10 yr old GD at 7 pm. Hope to get to church services at 4pm too. Somewhere in there have to have dinner.

Sunday looks quiet as does monday. Have to catch up on some sleep. Still coughing but not as much. Seems this is hanging on longer than I would like.

Only caught the end of DWTS finale and American Idol.
Crystal should have won, but as usual, everyone thought she had it in the bag and probably did not vote. She'll have a great career anyway.
Glee was great. Just love that show just to see the talent of these young kids.

Nothing on tonight that I need to see so will probably watch another goodie, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Just looking at all that food fills me up.

Early to bed, early to rise yet again.
Since your posts are late in getting to me I am still on weds. info.

Garden is planted (tomatos, (3 kinds,) green beans, yellow squash, spinach, green, red and hot peppers).
Hopefully the rabbits will stay away from the spinach. Still need to clean out some of the beds on the front of the property. Going slow this year.

Have a great weekend all, Eat healthy, exercise!

A big thank you to all who have served our country!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

PS WAY TO GO STEVE!!!!! emoticon emoticon

This is really a great team and so supportive. Y'all actually brought a tear or two reading your posts. This goal is so important to me. I got so sick and tired of go up and down like a yoyo. Golf does help because you get a lot of burn off calories playing it. I really don't have to work at it. I picked that goal a long time ago and it was the first weight to reach the "healthy" BMI. I still have some fat to lose around my mid section. I think after this week, I'll make my goal to get down to 175. That way, I'll be below the first level of "Healthy". I guess one can call it healthier, hahaha. Anyway, thanks a lot and stay your course and I will too. Happy spark'n y'all!!!!! emoticon

Congrats to Steve for reaching goal, and to Sue for taking off the 4 pounds. Never mind that you wish you were even lower -- I have also gained 4 pounds, and don't really know if I've lost any of it! Afraid to get on the scale!!

Hope everyone has fun plans for Memorial Day. We always have a BBQ for kids and grandkids. I shouldn't admit it out loud, but I don't always enjoy myself when Dh's kids are here. Sometimes it's just fine and we have a good time. Let's look on the good side!

Brenda, I'm sure there will be a good crowd for your Memorial Day where you are. You always sound so positive and usually have a good time. Good for you!

I am a bit better with my back. I think the 3 days I have rested and not done any exercise has been a bit helpful. Will have to find that elusive happy medium when it comes to exercise for me. This is a VERY individual challenge.

Thanks for the good words for Ellee.

What is a Captain's Chair, for exercise?

SUE

You be excited about the 4 pounds you have lost, even if you had gained them back. You had to lose them before you could lose any of the new ones! Congratulations! This is never a job done, we just keep on keepin' on! Good for you.

My goodness you are going to be so busy! Hope you sleep well tonight.

I don't know how people ever work those 12 hour days. They would have killed me even when I was young.

Sue, you are right, about me being used to the discomfort and even some pain. That is the problem for me with finding that fine line where exercise is a good thing, and when it is going to create a problem for me. I have lived my live for 36 years with the back issue, and for many years I tried to deny it. I just did whatever needed doing no matter what. I am old enough now that I realize all of the damage I have done, so I am working on figuring out what I can do and when. It is a journey, not a sprint! My reminder!

So sorry for all of you Canadians, in the northern zone. Don't think I could live where you do, I have enough trouble with winter here in Ohio.

STILLSLIM

Sounds like you have a great beginning for your garden. Should be wonderful!

Yum yum.

I am finding that now that the weather is better, I am having difficulty finding enough time for the computer. So, if I am mia sometimes, I am not quiting, but I need to do something besides being on the computer!

Have a great weekend all!

Bonnie

Morning all.....sooooo tired!!! Went to bed fairly early, and guess what....couldn't sleep!!!! I want to sleep!!!! Must be the menopause thingy...I haven't,not slept, for a nice while, and when it happens,it puts me in a tailspin....I'm sure it'll resolve itself!!!!!

Just worked 2-12 shifts, and now off for my 3-day weekend!!!! Whoo-Hooo!!! Gonna be busy,though...finally,getting my new washer & dryer,today....have enough laundry to do,to keep me busy for awhile....usually my spring cleaning stuff,is done,by now,but with that little glitch happening, you know, the flood,in March....it'll take a few days to clean all my bed linens, and curtains,etc....will be fun though, playing with the washer and dryer.....

I lost 4 pounds,this week....not too excited with it,because it's the poundage,I gained,over the past 2 weeks,but,now I'm back to where I should be.....guess I'll have to push,real hard,this w/e,and upcoming week to get below the 140 mark....

Haven't done my usual routine, because, work just seems to get in my way!!! Funny how that happens!!!

Steve-Well bud,you did it!!!!! Excellent, perservence,on your part....you got this plan down just pat, don't you? You are truly an inspiration,to us all....nice to see someone you know, meet their goal!!!! A job well done,my son!!!!!!

Lynn-prayers are still coming your way,for your hubby, and for your job interview process.....

Baglady77-You live in Alberta? My daughter lives in Grande Cashe, very far away from you? I've never been,so excuse my ignorance for not knowing the directional thingies of your province....I'm from Newfoundland, you know, the province, that doesn't have any good weather,at least not the east coast...I live in the capitol,St. John's,and let me tell you...you're weather sounds like ours!!!! Has been very cold,,,last nite,2 degrees....not nice, hey? Haven't even attempted to plant anything outside...a gardening expert for this area, never, ever, recommends it until at least, the end of June....so our growing season,is very short,to say the least....good luck with your stuff.....

Auntiedarling-sometimes we take our parents too serious...guess as we age,we more sensitive about what they say to us....I lost both of my parents, fairly early, and I see how my husbands parents, affect him.....and,how he reacts....not easy, but try to take it all in stride...easier said, than done, hey? Ultimately they only wish the best for you...

Kathy-wow,you're energy must be coming back!!!! To work,then come home,and go for a nice run,later!! Now,that's dedication,girl!!!! I love to run,too,and yes,it gets in your blood,but,because I do 12's,when I work,there's no daylight left when I get home...but,my job is so physical,anyway,lots of weeks,I loose a pound or 2 anyway. But,it doesn't stay off,I need to run,to keep it off.....

Bonnie-you're back must be holding up pretty good....you accomplish alot when you have your little charges, with you....maybe you're just used to the discomfort, are you? Does the heat help you?

Anyway,I'm way too long-winded,this a.m......must be the lack of sleep....

ttyl,
Sue

I guess you get my drift! Congratulations on reaching your goal! Yeaaaaaa you!

Had a good day today, Max and Brielle came to visit me, Gracee and Ellee. Was fun. Love how they all cuddle up to me when I read to them. Especially Max. He is such a boy, that any time I can get him slowed down enough to cuddle up, I love it. Problem, is there are 4 of them, and I have only 2 sides. We figure it out, one of the lap, one standing with arm around my shoulders, and one on each side. Great fun.

Watched Max play Tball tonight after I left the girls. Ellee was supposed to play, but the poor kid has such infected tonsils, she does not have much energy some days. Today was the last day of school for her and Max. They need to take out her tonsils, but won't until she is completely over the mono she has had for months! Poor kid! She has a blood test on June 7, so hope it is gone so she can get those huge tonsils out, and feel better! It is tough to watch. She is a trooper, but sometimes she is just too tired.

I did read all of the posts, but I still behind on replying to all of you!

Have a great tomorrow!

Way to Go Steve!!! Congratulations!

Maxine- You must be really far north to be getting near freezing at night. Isn't the green after a long winter so nice to see! Hopefully that garden will be greening-up with your veggies soon. Way to go on the eating right and walking you've been doing. It'll pay off in the end.

Lynn- Hmmm... now that would be a fun incentive. More cardio= more big #'s on the wheel. LOL I like how you think! Prayer's for your husband... and you.
Hope the jobs work out for the best.

KC- Sounds like a pretty harmless and fun last hooray for the seniors. Oh, to have that energy again! Sounds like maintaining is an accomplishment with everything going on in your life right now. Although... with all that work maybe you'll have a pleasant surprise like Steve did. Wouldn't that be great!.

Well, didn't get my exercise in today so will have to do that tonight. But got the barn work done. Missed lunch- which isn't very good because I ended up snacking instead. Still need to go on my tracker and figure out my calories... think I'm okay.

See all you nice people tomorrow. Have a good night rest.

WooHoo, Steve...when you least expected it, there it was - your goal! We're all happy to hear your great news. You've been working the program, and your results show it.
emoticon

Lynn, Good news on the 2nd interview - my prayer is that everything works out perfectly well for you and DH for jobs and location and health. I admire your focus and staying on spark-target.

Margaret, After this 4th day in a row of heat and humidity and sweltering classrroms, I'm tempted to join your kids in the lake, but alas, I am not a polar bear. I'm settling for A/C :). The seniors were of course, very hyper today - their "senior prank" was to put on roller blades or ride scooters through the hallways at noon hour wearing strange outfits and huge, oversized sunglasses. It was quite the sight. Pretty tame for a senior prank, so it was tolerated.

Our house looks rather disastrous b/c furniture is every which where - carpet layers won't be here til next week. The painters are done and it all looks great. We're into the one-project-creates-another phase - DH replaced a toilet only to discover the new one's tank is smaller than the old one, so now the wall behind it needs repainting (that's only one story, there's lots more). Will we get done by the time the house is supposed to be listed on June 7???????? What will be will be, right?

Eating has been OK; exercise gone by the wayside. I thought exercise was really becoming habit, but have learned its not so. My weight is stable, but all your reports of working out really are important to me. I cannot let go of this goal: you all are evidence that it is worth it. Keep posting your stories! I will get back on track. You all are emoticon

Steve.... emoticon that is so wonderful. You are an inspiration for me.

Margaret...I checked the last few days and my spark wheel hasn't had more than 7 points on it. I think it is a trick so that if I want to get my points up I have to do more cardio. lol

Johanna....I wish I was as good about my ST as I am about my cardio. When you post it reminds me I need to get on the ST. Thanks!

Kathy....I am impressed with your 4.36 mile run. It is all I can do to walk that far. Good for you, just listen to your body and don't overdo it.

Auntie....sorry your visit with your Dad went as it did. Parents are such a double edged sword. In a word they can build us up, or tear us down. We are always their children and that gives them such power.

Bonnie.....I hope you had fun with the girls. They can be so much fun.

I did get a call back from the job interview that I went on Tue. I am meeting the Regional Manager on Fri (tomorrow). So we'll see how that goes. DH is getting very tired and he is only had 4 treatments.

Take care, Lynn

Hi to all. Again it is cloudy and cold here. Had more rain a couple of days ago so my garden is still too wet to work. Dont know if I will even get it in this year. And really driving 20 miles to take care of it, it doesnt really matter. Still gets near freezing at night so have not put out my tomatoes yet either. Suppose to start getting moisture again tonite or tomorrow. But it looks so green around here and that has been a long time.

Have been walking lots, today I cleaned out the utility trailer at work so that should be my weight training. Will put it away after lunch. Watching what I eat and no snacking and feeling like I'm making progress. And as long as I feel good and look good to myself thats all I really care about. Even though because I'm 20 lbs overweight according to the charts that puts me in the obese section!!
Better get back to work. Good luck to all you sparking. emoticon

Boy was I wrong!!! I weighed in today and the scale showed 178.0. I could not believe it. I even went over my eating range 2 times this week, but not by much. I made my long term goal!!!!1 emoticon . My blood pressure was 114/74 too. Amazing to think sparkpeople was off a little. Anyway, good luck to your reaching your goals, as well. Happy Spark'n and stay your course. Steve

Hi team, another beautiful but hot day here in Michigan.
Will be visiting the nursing home today and since that is in "the big city" lol I'll get some shopping done while I'm there.

Had a second wind last night so I got my treadmill time in too along with my strength training. No AC for us so the heat really saps my energy. So humid it's hard to sweat ugh!

Took the kids to the beach to cool off in the afternoon. My polar bears still go swimming even if it's only 60something degree water. They get plenty of warning about "not to far" and "watch for cramping". They like to use snorkels and fins to check for fish hiding around the rocks.lol

Kathy- the garden is coming along just fine. Although we have very sandy soil, I need to keep up with fertilizing (natural of course) and watering, can't beat the fresh veggies so it's worth the time and work.

Well need to get ready to go...

Keep moving fellow sparkers and we'll reach our goals sooner or later. One day at a time. Let us know how you're fairing with your journey and we'll root for ya!

Good morning everyone! Well, another day of spark'n and I have to get back on the weight training process. I've been trying to figure out my caloric intake with the added exercise. I question the amount of calories burned playing golf with using cart as stated. They give me over 1200 calories burned. If I play twice in one week, I go way over calories burned and spark people tell me to increase my food intake. That is dangerous because it makes me looking for food to eat, hahaha. I think I'm putting on weight instead of taking it off this last week. I'll do a good weigh in today and just see and adjust. Anyway, I'm so light these days that I have room to experiment but I have to stay the course. I can see changing my goal another 5 pounds because I still have some fat around my waist. Anyway, stay your course and happy spark'n y'all. Stevegolfdog emoticon
