Hello everyone,
I am happy that everyone had a nice weekend. Congratulations on your weight loss Alove. I would love to know what you did to lose 3.6 pounds in one week so I can do the same thing.
I walked 4 miles this morning and it felt great, but i need to find some other type of excerise that i would enjoy. Between walking and riding a bike i'm getting bored. I am going to look into dance classes this week.

Hello everyone:
Alove: emoticon That is sooo great. I hope to see a day where the scale reflects more than ounces.

Not much to report here. I am still doing the coffee/eating thing and it is going well. I haven't noticed any major changes and I am guessing that is good. I think I have more energy. I find that odd since I always have energy.
I am getting ready for my daughter and my adopted son to go off to college for the first time.
Man is it expensive to buy them food just to survive.
So I did my walk and have to log my food.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi all - sorry to hear about the woes of financial stress, broken bones, chest pains, etc...hope all of you have a better week ahead!

Welcome to the new folks!

My weigh in day was yesterday and I was down another 3.6 pounds, so yay! :)

Took that day off from dieting and splurged on some Popeye's chicken...possibly for the last time ever. That stuff just has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much sodium in it! Not to mention fat, but really it tasted so salty to me now that I didn't really even enjoy it as much as I used to, and have not felt very well today, so it wasn't really worth it.

Got out and walked this morning although it was fairly humid. My dogs were even ready to go back in when I had planned one more lap, but decided I would stop with them because I felt ever so slightly dizzy. My blood pressure was probably a bit elevated after all that salt. Eating right again today, as planned, and drinking plenty of water to flush out that sodium.

Keep on sparking everyone!

Hello everyone. I am new here. Had a great weekend, got our pool up and running again, it was down for a month. I spent two hours in it yesterday and got a little too much sun on my face, but I am down another pound today so the exercise did me good, plus it relaxes me. Have today off and trying to figure out what to do with my day.

Shelog-Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hopefully things will work out and you can still go on your trip.

My weekend was good. My brother and his wife were up visiting from Sacramento. They are moving to Arkansas soon and wanted to say their goodbye. So they called me and said they wanted to get together on Sunday and go out and have dinner somewhere.

Well since I had worked out Monday-Friday last week I was going to take Saturday off. Well My brother called me Saturday stating they were at his sister-in-laws house and wanted to invite me to a BBQ. (And I thought Yikes! There is an unplanned food intake I didn't count on)

So I hit the gym for an hour (Said goodbye to my rest day) shower changed and headed over. The dinner wasn't bad, a small cut of stake, a couple of pieces of chicken, fruit and water

Sunday I went for a walk in the morning for an hour. Dinner was not bad with my brother I took him to Sweet tomatoes (salad bar) had salad, soup and one small slice of cheese pizza. Got on the scale to make sure I didn't gain anything and I didn't. :)

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Mine was great until about an hour ago. My daughter fell off of a skateboard and broke her ankle. My hubby has her at emergency right now so I don't know anymore details than that. Poor girl. We were supposed to be going to wisconsin dells next week, so I'm not sure what is going to happen there.

Hi everyone. I have had a great day! Church was great. Then afterwards we went to pick up somethings for my daughter for when we take her back to college next Sunday. Then me and DD went swimming. Just finished supper and going to work on some projects this evening.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Thought for sure I was going to hit my 185 benchmark this morning, but alas! I am nearly 2 pounds over. But, that's not a bad thing...I did lose exactly 2 pounds this week.

And for church today, I fit into a lovely top that's been taking up space in my closet for a LONG time! Gonna have to get the skirt I wore taken in soon, though. Don't want to lose the use of it, it's the perfect shape and length for me...and it's flat gorgeous (was a gift, I'd never have bought it on my own).

Healthy is my main goal. Losing weight safely is part of that.

Morning It is hot here today, I already hit the road and did my walk.

Quick lunches are salad with chicken, Vegg soup, Peanut butter stuffed celery, Apples stuffed with PB, A Protein shake, Salad tossed with taco meat.
It all depends on your definition of quick and how many calories you want to use up on lunch.

I had my coffee and I made myself eat breakfast. Now I am going to make my self have a snack. I had the coffee because I went to bed VERY late and go up normal time. I want to go to bed early but My family came in and I had to visit with them for a while. The were revved they had been at a concert.
But I am proud of the fact that now I know what is causing me to not eat I can interpret the signals better. This whole time I thought it was just my body saying it isn't hungry on it's own. So I wasn't going to force myself to eat more than I felt like it. But now I see it as drinking coffee prevents me from thinking I am hungry when I really am. So we will see how it goes on Wedsday for weight in.

Sandy I am so sorry to hear about your week. I have a strong feeling your chest pain was anxiety. But it is always better to have it checked out. Deep breathing my friend and lots off it. When money is concerned people who have never had anxiety all of a sudden develop it.
Just thing way back when people used to swap goods and services there was no money and no anxiety. Good luck. Look up some useful recipes or exercises you want to try.

Benny: It seems to be the coffee, it is amazing the thing you take for granted. However, Now I need to be careful of the foods I eat even more than before. Today I only went over by 98 cal but it is 1030pm and I could still eat. Although in all fairness I am not dragging like I usually am.
I will try this again tomorrow and keep doing it until next wensday. Even though it is making me a little uneasy looking at the calorie range I took in today. I will give my body the benifit of the doubt, and hopefully it will let me know when enough is enough.

Ok so today was a great day. I went to see Hope Springs with DH, And It was funny and sad I am sure there are people out there like that and it breaks my heart. I am happy to say that is not us. We sleep in the same bed even if we are mad. I couldn't imagine being in that situation. Nor do I ever want to.
I started off the day eating and kept on eating all day. It was odd. I know I am always surrounded by food but this day I was able to feel hungry and recognize when I was full.
Although I can easily see how people can over eat. But for me today was a breath of relief.
I was actually enjoying food instead of feeling like I was force feeding myself. I made good conscious decisions about what I wanted to eat. I kept with alot of Fruit and Veggies. I ended up eating 2 lunches because I had made my self a sandwich thinking my husband was going to sleep until it was time to leave for the movie but then he got up and we took they youngest daughter to Mc Donalds for lunch. I was hungry still so I ate a 1/4lb just the sandwich and didn't finish it. I recognized the "Stop eating" signal so we went home and then to the movie. We didn't have popcorn, it make me sick and it sticks in his teeth. So we did good there. then we went to BWW and I had a salad and he had wings, A couple hrs later I was making the fam grilled cheese, But I had a slice of fried bread with Cinnamon and sugar that was dessert. I some how even got in more than my water alotment.
Well off to get some sleep. Have a great nite emoticon

Hi Team boy I haven't been having a good week. Sunday we went somewhere and I had my wallet stolen with everything in it. So I had to replace all my stuff. Wednesday someone took money out of our bank account.Over a 1000 dollars that we had for paying bills. The bank said they have to look into it and it could take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. I swear you know cause now we cant pay our bills. Thursday night i started having chest pains and went to bed still had them when i woke up on Friday. So I had a close scare and After spending all day in the ER with chest pains I am finally home. Came home last night around 11pm. They have no answer for why I had chest pains. Right now I am doing good no pains. But I need to relax for a couple of days they said. So hubby is mr mom. I have the best hubby in the world. My orders are just to sit and enjoy my laptop so that what I am doing. What a week I had you know. Now I can't even work out for three days. So I am just relaxing.

Munchkin, those are very helpful tools to cool down the cravings. I rarely crave for chocolates, but sweets are another thing. Different types of fruit can subdue my sweet appetite, but some types I must watch for high calories. I also drink coffee (black) and can attest to its appetite suppressing powers, but beware; coffee can brings some negative baggage with it. Benny

Croatia: Go to the fitness tracker, plug in the distance and the time and it will tell you how many calories you burned.
I can't remember if you have a pedometer or not but you can either go on the fitness tracker and log your location or zip code and it should bring up a map. Then you click/flag the distance and it will tell you when you add that map to your tracker.
Good luck

I am following the NO coffee thing as best I can I managed to eat pumpkin seeds/cranberries before my walk, then when I got back I had 1cp watermelon and 1/3 cp raspberries. I could feel something going on because I all of a sudden became hungry. It was a strange sensation. I did have a cup of coffee but not till after I had eaten the watermelon/raspberries.
And it was 1030 by then.
I have a date with my husband today to go to the movies and see Hope springs. I hope it is as good as everyone claims.
Have a great day everyone remember to keep moving and drinking that water.

Hey I think I found a new break through, Thanks to my sister in law. She came by tonite and was telling me coffee is found to curb your appetite. HUM That could be why I am never hungry! I drink coffee in the morning. And if I am tired in the afternoon or if I didn't have time to eat luch I will drink that it is faster than eating something, or eating something bad for me. SO AHHH She may have just hit the nail on the head.
Tomorrow I will try to pay attention and skip the coffee, And as I write this I remember one day last week when we were on vacation and I didn't have coffee I remember telling my husband around 11am I was starving. So now I need to pay close attention to it.

I went for my walk today between storms alone. It was quick and quiet. I am getting tired and I think I am going to go to bed.
Have a good nite all. emoticon

Hi All-

Happy Friday! Sounds like everyone is doing great--keep it up!

I had a good week-- wasn't able to be as active as I'd like with work schedule and evening committments, but did as I much as I could and really tried to make good food decisions and balance heavier/eating out meals with lighter onese which I think is a lifestyle change I can live with and stick to long term.

I met a friend at Olive Garden for lunch and usually I would "treat" myself and have that be my cheat day/meal, but that always seemed to be a slippery slope for me, so this time I looked up the menu and nututition information beforehand, and made a good decision of picking something that was healthy but didn't feel like I was sacrificing or settling and spending hard earned money on an unappetizing meal. I have tennis scheduled for tomorrrow so looking forward to that..... have a good weekend everyone!

MUNCHKIN - Not silly at all, in fact I envy you, enjoy!

LAHUDSONCHEF - yeah, pretty much all alcohol is high calorie, unfortunately. Even those "skinny girl" cocktails aren't as innocent as they appear, and I find it very frustrating that they tell you how many calories are in an ounce, but the bottle measurement is in ML, so if you do like I did w/ my girlfriends and just pour til everyone has an equal amount, you've got to go to a conversion calculator to figure out how many oz. you had. There is no "servings per container" on the label. One thing I sometimes do when I want an adult beverage is make my own wine cooler by mixing wine with Fresca or Diet Sprite. Cheers! emoticon

To those having trouble with the page not refreshing, this happens to me ALL THE TIME! I have found that if I change my method of getting to this thread it will show me the more recent posts. For instance I normally get here from the link on my home page, but when I use that, and it isn't showing me anything recent, then I click up there on the "General Team Discussion Forum" link, and from that page I can see who posted most recently, and then click on the "Daily Chit Chat" link there and then it usually shows me everything it was hiding before. Frustrating, but hey, this site is STILL amazing for all it has to offer, and for FREE, so I'm not complaining! emoticon

The temps here have FINALLY stopped hitting triple digits, and we've had a decent amount of cloud cover to help it feel even cooler, so I have gotten out and walked 3 days so far this week. I will get one more walk in tomorrow, and may go roller skating Sunday, haven't decided yet.

Have a great weekend everyone, but choose wisely!

You know AKRONEWITTER1 two years ago I did weight watchers and I tracked everything I put in my mouth and lost 49lbs.(I was 285lbs back then) When I stopped the weight came back! Grrrr. When I found the SparkTeam it help me track again (For free!) and the weight starting coming off. It's amazing how that happens. But we don't realize how many calories we take in when we don't log it. Now do I log every single think I put in my mouth today? No, But I do log the majority of what I eat and now when I eat something I think Hmmm, how many calories was that! As long as you can be honest with yourself, never give up, you will see good results. :)

I am trying to get back on track. I stopped keeping track of what I was eating and I stopped losing and was starting to gain. I know I can do this I just need to quit finding excuses not to.

Tara: Not weird at all. It happens a lot more than you think.

Dhunter: It is very common for you to get sick when you change your diet, it isn't really sick it is from stirring up all the bad stuff in your system. It used to happen to me all the time. Then I would go back to eating the way I did and it wasn't until I read Fit for Life that I understood why it would keep happening. I suggest you forge a head and keep drinking your water, and your oj. Also rest just so your body has time to adjust. Eat your fruit and veggies and have some soup. Eat light and you will soon be on your way.

Ok so today if Friday and it is very over cast. I am going to go for my walk in as soon as I finish this post.
I have a date with my husband tomorrow I am very excited. We are going to see Hope Springs.
It is crazy but nice at the same time to think after 26 years of being together I still get excited and worked up about going on a date with my husband emoticon . I am sure someone out there thinks it is silly. But we don't get to go out alone too often with 3 kids and him commuting to work takes and added 3 hours off his day.
Well have a great day everyone. Keep drinking your water an remember to keep moving.

How come, every time I start with a healthy way of eating and exercising... I get sick. Right now, my knees are keeping me from aquacising and walking my daily mile. So, I'm gonna do some chair work until I get it checked out.

It's really discouraging...

Okay, like, did everyone else know that a shot of Bailey's is well over 100 calories??? I knew I'd have to add it to the tracker once I got home, but was shocked! First time I've had it since I've been tracking.. I mean, like 1.5 oz of Bailey's has only 70 calories less than a PINT of my fave beer on tap. Whoa. I'll be remembering this for next time!

Thank you every one.
I am glad to report that I went for a run/walk this morning with my youngest daughter. Man I am convinced she is trying to kill me. That little girl took off like a shot and I had to try to keep her in site. That was no easy task. As terrible as it sound she got a stomach ache and had to walk back. LOL I couldn't keep up with her. and she was getting annoyed because she had to keep stopping for me to catch up. I never thought I would hear my self say that someone had to wait for me to catch up with them.
Well I hope everyone has a great night. Keep up the good work. Drink that water.

LAHUDSONCHEF I know the feeling! Was like that last week. Thank goodness I didn't have pizza in the the house. But I had Fiber one Cereal which seem to do the trick for me. Oh and then there was the popcorn. I hate having these mini cravings. Now that I'm back on having beens and veggies for lunch and find that I don't crave as much. I think your right about the empty calorie food. They just leave us wanted more!

Good job MUNCHKIN131. No weight gain! Whoo-hoo.

My boss brought in bagels this morning! I'll resist, I have my oatmeal. But I love bagels so I must resist!

Lahudsonchef: Ask your self this.... If I know this isn't what I want why am I willing to eat it? Then Ask yourself what has set me off to head down this road? And last but not least how high is my stress level that I am willing to eat this?

A few post ago I said that I just discovered trips to the ER made me want to eat. Yes that is a major stress trigger for me but let me tell you, I took my father back and forth to the hospital for 3 years an I don't ever remember not hitting up the vending machine not matter what time it was.I remember making sure it was the peanut M&M's so they at least had protein.

Really tempted to splurge tonight and go way over my calorie limit...I'm not exactly hungry, but I'm not satisfied, not in the slightest. My friend made homemade pizza for us, and given what was left for my day, I ate what amounted to a half serving and am now just over my upper limit. But, while I'm not hungry, I don't feel like I ate dinner, I have the major munchies and it's after 9pm. The dough is so calorie dense and nutrient-poor, that I think I just wasted a meal. I'm too tired to do much else than grab more of the pizza.

More and more, I'm finding that certain carbs are just a waste (or is it waist?) on me. Give me protein, veggies, fruits, nuts, whole-grain breads, and I stay full and satisfied. Give me breads, pastas, snacks, of highly processed flours and high in sugar, and it's never enough.

I think I'm writing on here to keep myself from running back into the kitchen.

Healthy is my main goal. Losing weight safely is part of that.

Ok So where is everyone? Are you all that busy?
I spent most of today visiting my aunt who fell and broke her wrist. Poor girl is 72 years old and has Parkinsons, Now she has a broken arm and it happens to be the only one with strenght in it.
Well I am happy to report I got my niece to use SP. And My husband is considering it seriously.
I have also been looking into taking a Nutrition course. There is one on line but I think I might take to one at the college. The placement exam makes me nervous but I think I can hand that class. I do worry about having to already have taken Biology and Lab as I have graduated H.S. In 1987. That seems so long ago. My oldest daughter is very enthusiastic about it and it seems like my husband is on board a s well. I feel like I don't want to let anyone down especially myself. Both courses are certification courses so I can use them to get a job giving "good" advise to people. And then maybe my aunt and my husband will listen to me.
Fat chance of that. But I really would be doing it for my own benefit. I am curious to see if there is a missing link as I have tried everything else. Maybe some formal education might help.
Well I hope everyone is doing well keep drinking that water.
Keep moving.

Happy Hump Day everyone! Congrats to those who lost, good luck to those facing weigh ins, and good job to all those getting in their exercise and staying on their eating plans! This team is impressive!

I stayed home from work today because I woke up in pain again from my stupid CPAP machine. I have used it faithfully since I got it 7 months ago, never missing even a single night of use, but lately I have had problems with aerophagia, also known as swallowing air. I wake up feeling like I should be floating above the Macy's Day Parade I'm so bloated with air! It can be very painful, and this morning it was. I guess I'm going to have to go see the respiratory therapist...ugh, more money I don't have!

The news isn't all bad though, I got to feeling better within an hour of getting up, and it was actually not miserably hot out yet, so I got a 1.5 mile walk in. Also, we got some RAIN today! Yay! We're still in need of a lot more, but any is better than none!

Morning everyone. It seem like I have been more hungry in the evenings for some reason this week! I tend to eat cereal before I sleep to curb the hunger pains. I'm going to try to go back to my beans and lentils for lunch as that seemed to substain me. It's seem like I go through that from time to time, where I maintain my weight for 3 or 4 weeks then after I'll drop a lbs or two rather than dropping weight every week. But at least I'm not going up. :)
