Oooh, fudge pops... I loved those when I was a kid.
~drools~ Your sliders sound good.

I think I'm going to pick up some turkey burgers while I'm out later.
Lettuce, too. I definitely want some lettuce.

Lol, we ended up focusing our attention on the entree and just having those 40 cal. fudge pops because it's freaking hot here right now. She loved them, though, and the extra lean ground beef bleu cheese sliders I made.

Yeah, I'd probably hit up pinterest for 'healthy cheap desserts' or something until something strikes you.

I think meringues (made with egg whites?) can be lower in calorie, and some fruits, and maybe lower calorie whipped topping. Pinterest can come up with some neat presentation that makes the budget friendly items look special.

I'm not much of a dessert person myself. My boys' treat for this week is chocolate poured into lego molds. Usually plain chocolate is meh next to the brightly colored candies, but, pouring it into a lego shape? changes the whole game. lol.

Try a low carb cheesecake with fresh fruit? Or even better set up a quick and easy make your own sundae bar with fresh fruit, frozen yogurt or halo top ice cream, indulge with either dark chocolate shavings or low fat whipped cream on top and don't forget the candle! Happy birthday to her!

There are a lot of great ideas in SparkRecipes. I had a whole list of them yesterday for 2-4 ingredient healthy dessert ideas I needed for a family get together. I like black bean brownies myself.

Hi again, everyone!

So this week I'm in a bit of a pickle. My daughter turns 14 this week and on Saturday she's having a little get-together with some friends. The thing is, we're both overweight (well, technically I'm outright obese, but you get the gist) and we've been trying to be really health conscious about what we've eaten the past several weeks. Still, a birthday celebration doesn't seem like much of a celebration without dessert. She's not dead-set on a cake, but I'm trying to figure out a healthy dessert that isn't going to break my rather meager bank. Any ideas, folks?
