Good Morning!

Hope you are having a good weekend! We are! We got down to my late Father-n-laws yesterday and worked for a couple of hours! So that was a really good thing!! Two times in a week! woo hoo!! We are going again on Monday I'm hoping to have a lot of the main floor done when we stop Monday! We are making real progress! This makes me really happy!

I was so proud of myself last night! I got some salmon to cook and we had it lastnight for dinner! It was yummy!! I think I am going to go pickup some more today while it's still on sale for the freezer! Ended up just me and Sammy had some, my hubby had his habinaro brats and my older son had chicken pepercaush (sp?). With my salmon I had a huge helping of veggies. I was planing on having rice but didn't have any so that didn't happen.

Well today my cousin is suppose to be coming to visit and I dont get to see her very often so I am looking forward to that!

I'd better go! Have a Great Sunday Friends!!

Hi everyone. It is so cold here, I am having a movie night. I love those.

Ally congrats on the job. Sometimes a little less pay is so worth it when you enjoy your job.

I hope you're all having a great weekend.

Ack Ivy!!! I hope things settle down eventually for you! and fast!

Does anyone know why I would stop getting emails for updates to this thread? It seems that I haven't gotten an email for this thread in a long while!! I didn't unsubscribe either, I checked =(

Anyhow ... I got a new job!! I start on Tuesday! This one is also part time and $1 less than I am making now, but it has a much faster chance to go full time and has benefits like 401k and well, health insurance!! So far it seems like a wonderful company and the people I have met so far seem very nice!!

I will try and catch up with the thread tomorrow in between cleaning the room!!

Hi all,
Just checking in. Life is still kind of stressful-unborn nephew still needing extra medical care, my brother in hospital, hubbys cousin still missing in mts, me still recovering from sinus infection, hubby still not having a steady full time job,me trying to pick up sub teaching jobs whenever I can, 2 kids to get to events, volunteer obligations-you know...the usual for me. And then today in the mail I got my notice to appear for federal court jury duty! Could life get any more interesting??

Hi, everyone! I've Sparked off an on for a while, but I've recently renewed my committment. I was doing well in the fall and lost almost 15 pounds, then fell off the bandwagon. I'm on it for good, now... I want to loose about 85 pounds... My biggest challenge is consistency, both in working out and in what I eat. I do really well for a couple days a week, then the others I don't do so well. The days that I don't go to the gym and plan on doing something at home, usually end without excercise. I've got to find a way to stay motivated and change that... Anyhow, I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Yay! I have internet today! (sort of)

Stay strong everyone, and keep focused on the baby steps. They will prevent you from stopping all together when things get tough.

As for me, I had a pretty incredible Aha! moment that I blogged about. I feel kind of silly because it should have been so obvious, but I actually feel a little bit like I've been hit by a lightening bolt of awareness.

HI everyone,
I've been good at getting up early to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes and this week increase to 35. I push up to 3.2 mph for a few minutes of that but mainly stay around 2.7. I trying to slowly work my way up to an hour everyday. For the most part I've been stating within my calorie range but have had a couple of off days. But I've noticed that when I eat more that I should I really feel bad physically. So I tend to be more diligent on the treadmill.

I'm treating my mom to a night out for her birthday Saturday night but at the same time try not to go too overboard myself. Fancy dinner then a wine and dessert tasting. What was I thinking when I bought those tickets?! emoticon IGuess I better rev up that treadmill! emoticon
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hi All! Welcome newbies!

I have been doing really good with the eating, but I have found the working out a problem for the last 2 weeks. I changed my routine to include biking (because I bought a new bike), but found that my body was EXTREMELY sore ALL THE TIME!!! Every day I was in pain. And not the my muscles are aching from use....More like...I hurt so much I can't walk and feel 1000 years old. I figured it was using different muscles on the bike, than when I run. I was thinking that my body would get used to the new activity. It wasn't happening and I was getting frustrated. I always felt great while running, walking or biking, but within hours the pain was back. Even rolling over in bed hurt. My friends then had me take 2 days off completely. And then take away running for the next 2 weeks, so that my body can adjust to biking before reintroducing running. I was a little frustrated by this. 1) It meant taking days off, and along the same line, 2) less exercise means less weightloss. I know I can't push it too much, but I like running. I need to work on my biking (have a really long charity ride in July), but I want to be able to do both! emoticon I feel like a kid who has a tantrum.....I don't wanna wait! I want to do it all NOW! emoticon emoticon

Ok. I think the vent is over. Sorry I needed that. I was starting to feel like I was failing or slacking off. I will start repeating a mantra to myself - 'Baby steps.Baby steps.'

Thanks for listening guys! emoticon

KSTEPHAN2 - I think the main thing that you said was you know how to cheat the programs! I have totally been there!!!! The one thing I like best about spark is that even though you have the community YOU are responsible. So here, if you cheat, you are only cheating YOURSELF! It makes a difference. Good luck!!!

Welcome new folks! My biggest weight loss tool is tracking my food. Integral for me.

Yesterday I had planned as a rest day. At the end of the day when I finished tracking my food, and I had gone high, I decided to burn some calories. To be honest, the popcorn in my cupboard was calling my name, and I needed to distract myself. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical to burn 397 calories, and after seeing how hard I had to work to burn those calories, I did not want to eat the popcorn anymore. I felt better after my workout too, having felt awful all day. Today I will do wk2d3 of my 5K training. Note to self:eat before taking multivitamins to avoid intense nausea.

Hello.

Welcome Shannen and Kstephan. Great job on 5 days at the gym Shannen. That is great. I go to the Y and try to get there 3 days a week. I also workout at home 3 to 5 times a week. We are getting a new Y, eventually, and I hope there will be an indoor track. I would love to use one. Set some mini goals for youself.

Kstephan, I have about 50lbs to lose. I try not to look at the big picture. I set mini goals. Like right now I am working on losing 10% of my weight. I also like to precook food, like chicken, so I have it handy for the week. Cut up veggies and have lots of fruit. I also took my measurements. I haven't lost a lot of weight in the last 6 weeks but I have lost 6 inches. I read a quote from a woman that had lost weight. She said that she ate all the time whether she was hungry or not. So when she was trying to lose weight she said that if she wanted to eat something she would ask herself "am I hungry enough to eat an apple?". If the answer was no, then she obviously wasn't very hungry. That really made sense to me and I have used it a few times already. I also find this team very supportive. Come here often. I try to make it once a day. Good luck.

I am off to watch Greys.

Welcome SHANNENMARIE2!!! I know what you mean. I go to the gym all the time. I am finding that my eating is the real problem. I need to make better food choices and stay within a better calorie range. Keep up with your working out and everything else will fall into place!!

How's everyone else doing?

Hi everyone, i'm new here. Need to lose 99 pounds by next year sometime. I go to the gym 5 times a week, lift weights and walk the treadmill at 3.0 for 10 minutes and then walk the track for 10 more minutes. I am having so much energy and feel great! You would never guess from looking at me that I go to the gym that much. Hoping to hike the other 2 days starting this spring to make it 7 days of exercising per week.

Treat the world well.

I ate 100 calories extra yesterday, and I felt worlds better this morning. Partly from getting used to the lower range, and partly too because I got a better sleep. I did wk2 d2 yesterday for my 5K training, and I am very pleased that I planned today as a rest day. I am so sore! I need to get some housework done today, but other than that, I am chilling.

Hi Porscad. Glad you posted with us. Don't look at the big picture. Take baby steps. Day by day. I know it is hard and it can easily get overwhelming. What if you set mini goal of 10 pounds at a time. I know my first mini goal is to lose 10% and then my next one might be another 10%. Good luck. It's nice that you and your bf are doing this together.

I have stopped tracking my fitness and nutrition. I felt that it was taking me too much time to post it all. I don't know if it was the right decision or not. Sometimes I think I am going under my calories.

Well the dog is looking to get outside, I better not put her off for too long.

Many congrats on the loose pants, that is totally motivating.

I am doing the Virtual 5K, which training are you doing for it, I am doing the Rookie Runner. I completed Wk2 D1 last night, and I will be doing W2 D2 this morning with my running buddy to get myself on track to be ready for the week of April 10-16, but I don't recommend rushing it. Yesterday, I actually managed to post a deficit in my calories, I ate under 2000 calories for the first time in months, and this morning I feel terrible. My stomach is upset, I have a headache, I am a little bit dizzy. I am really hoping that my breakfast will chase it all away, but it makes it kinda hard to want to keep it up, that's for sure. Now, seeing the scale go down 2.4 pounds from yesterday is reassuring, makes it seem more worthwhile for sure! Have a sparkly day folks!

I've never posted in this part of the forum before but I really wanted to post and talk about how excited I am about SparkPeople! I've tried this before but I've never been so motivated before. My boyfriend and I started together a couple of weeks ago and I've lost 4 lbs and we've started the Virtual 5K training too :) I get so anxious sometimes when I think of how far I have to go but I just keep reminding myself that this is a lifestyle change not a "diet". Is anyone else doing the virtual 5K? Just wondered about that.

Whishin - Congrats! That's amazing! I can't wait to have a WooHoo moment like that :)

Hi everyone.

Whishin that is exciting about your baggy sloppy pants. I love that feeling too. I like to look at my butt in the mirror when my pants are baggy. lol

I had a good day of eating. I haven't been tracking my food lately and I am wondering if I am under what I should be. I got stung on that before. I was being too strict and exercising a lot and ended up not losing anything.

Well I am off to get ready for bed. Have a good sleep.

Did anyone else find their weight fluctuating a lot (by 3 lbs up and down) in the first week and a half? I'm sticking to all parts of the program, weighing myself at a consistent time, etc. Just wanted to know if this seems pretty normal.
I've been doing the SELF videos and "Choose your level Weight-loss Pilates". I've really liked them, they are taught by the same gal.

Hi everyone! Has anyone done any of the walking at home videos? I just started them this week and I am loving it. I need to get my treadmill out of storage, but in the meantime, this is really a good workout. Did 30 minutes today..I even got up at 4:30 without hitting the snooze button which is unheard of for me!!

Have a great day.

That rollerskating sounds like so much fun, I haven't done that in years! I have rollerblades, and I do that outside, but it's not anything like the roller rink with the music, the lights, all the people having fun. Oh, the memories.

I haven't been worrying about my eating at all this week, no tracking to speak of. I did complete Week 1 of the beginner runner training program for 5K, and I think getting active again was a big part of my success in losing .6 of a pound. It seems like a small amount to be excited about, but I am just so pleased the scale went down instead of up!

Hi everyone. Well I made it through the weekend staying on track. Yippee. Ate healthy and got my exercise in.

Welcome to the newbies and welcome back to the oldies. lol Nice to have you all here.

Rollerskating. I loved rollerskating when I was a teenager. Seems like so long ago. I had my own skates and was so proud of them.

I am down 2 pounds today and down about six inches in 5 weeks.

Have a good night all.

BeckJ77, there's a million great ideas and tips on this website, too many to relate here. Have you checked out the "Secrets of Success" section yet? I love going there to get great ideas...

To get there, go to the Community heading at the top of this page, then scroll down to "Secrets of Success".

Your body is a machine, give it the fuel it needs:

*Eat before you're hungry, drink before you're thirsty. The machine works better when it's well primed.

*Plan ahead. You wouldn't drive through the desert on a quarter-tank of gas, would you?

*Quality in, quality out. Proper nutrition will help you get maximum benefit from your workout.

Welcome! I like the idea of bagging things into individual serving bags - I might have to try that emoticon

I went to the gym this morning and just couldn't handle even walking on the treadmill with this chest cold. I just couldn't breathe. I have asthma that's usually activated by colds, so I kinda knew it was a long shot, but my fitness minutes for February suck. As soon as this cold is gone I am back in this!! In the meantime, I am trying to focus on my eating. Going to stop at the store today and get some fruits and veggies to hold me over till payday when I can do a full shopping order.

I have a goal for myself that I would like to reach. I would like to hit my 15lb weight loss by the time I go to an engagement party on March 18th. That's 11 pounds in 3 weeks. It's possible, if I can get back in to the gym soon. Wish me luck! emoticon

Hi everyone. I am new to the group. this is the first time with sparkpeople, but I have done weight watchers on and off. I find myself getting really into a plan and then enthusiasm falls off after about a month......I need to begin living a healthier lifestyle. I went to the store yesterday and bought healthier foods for my family! I even prepped the fruits and snacks in indv. serving bags...I don't normally do this, but I think it is going to help. Any other tips are much appreciated. Have a great day! emoticon

A day off doesn't feel like like a day off when you have 3 kids. I think I'm doing more during these couple of days than during a week of work! Think I'll go back to work tomorrow to get some rest,

Hi everyone.

Thanks ladies, I hope the scale will catch it. Sometimes it is so frustrating. I'm sure you all know the feeling. I will power through it though.

My hubby and I had a table in a flea market today so I packed us a healthy lunch. It was good. I had an egg salad sandwich with egg whites and light mayo and pickles. Grapes, unsalted trail mix (maybe a bit too much of that), couple bottles of water, oh and yogurt with frozen berries.

Well I am fighting to stay awake so I better sign off before I babble too much.

If you're tired of always starting over, then stop giving up.

TGIFF(S)!! Or it's Thank Goodness It's Finally Friday (Saturday)!!!!

It's been a crazy long 13-day week, with 4 double-shifts in a row thrown in there for good measure. I think I did okay with my nutrition... I packed a lot of healthy snacks like yogurt, overnight oats, cut up veggies, cantaloupe, bananas etc. -- but the meals were really hard to prepare for the double shift days because I was home so late every night and up so early for work again. Yesterday and today I just kind of gave up and went for whatever food-court type options I could. The funny thing is, I didn't find it all that satisfying to eat those things... and I was really just craving a nice home-cooked healthy meal.

Goddes--Way to go for the running and lowering the calories! Woot!

Shelog--YAYS!! for pants being looser even if it wasn't a loss! the loss will come in time, fast usually too! Hope it is in time for your contest!

Sammy--Thanks, I truly need it! I am praying that if I get it sales will go up fast and they will be able to make me full time, possibly even in the office again! (they got a new franchise--so numbers will play an important part) I have a phone interview Monday morning with them!

Lisa--Way to go on the 4 pounds! You are moving right along!

I did do better yesterday with my afternoon snacking, reduced my snack by 300 calories down to 1100. Today will be okay for afternoon snacking, but we are going to a potluck in the evening, so it should prove interesting. I did w1d2 of the rookie running 5K training program, it went well. I got up early today to do w1d3, but honestly, just being awake was a challenge so, I will do it tomorrow instead. I am still battling a head cold, so last night I took Nyquil, and I woke up less plugged up this morning, what a relief! Congrats on the 4 pound loss Lisa! That is incredible! SHELOG, don't worry about being up for one weigh in, keep doing what you are doing, the scale will catch up.

Hi everyone. I finally made it to friday and it is a long weekend here. Yippee. I had a good day of eating, exercise and water. Probably under in my calories but I might have some light popcorn later.

Lisa, 4 pounds!!! That is awesome. That's exciting about the hip bones too.

I weighed in for my biggest loser competition and ended up going up .2 pounds. A little disappointed but it will make me work harder. I think the competition is 34 more days. I have marked the days on a calendar for a countdown. I am going to lose this weight!! I know I am toning though because my pants are starting to get baggy. I need to take my measurements. I have been running and doing aquafit a lot so maybe I am building muscle. I still want that number to start going down though.

Have a good weekend everyone.

**WARNING** This might be TMI...

I had an okay day yesterday. Really avoided bingeing until the afternoon, and even with a 1400 calorie snack, I was at 2500 calories for the day, which is not bad for my track record lately which has included aome 4000 calorie days. I also started the 8 week beginning runner's program yesterday, making it Wk 1 Day 1. It was quite a struggle, but I got it done. I am going running with my running buddy this morning for Wk 1 Day 2, hopefully I am not pushing too hard. Also, I got to bed at 10 instead of staying up until midnight, trying to move my get up time to 6:30 instead of 7:00, but that did not happen, it's going to take some work!

Hey everyone!! Hope everyone had a good Thursday! Big TGIF tomorrow!!

I am nearly ready for bed already, finally going to bed early for once this week! I hit all my main nutritional goals for the day, not sure on the ones I have added recently. I am still adjusting to those!

I put in for yet another job, part time again, but this place called me and it is a big dealership! Yays!! I would love to be back in the fold of a real dealership life!

hi everyone.

Had another decent day. Very stormy here so I am settling in for a relaxing evening. Just my tv, my laundry and me.

Molly thanks for that recipe. It does look really good.

Yippee, tomorrow is finally Friday.

Have a good one.

I know the feeling... I started making bars and squares using this recipe (see link below), and now when I have a cookie craving, I have one of these instead. They're very rich and filling, so while they satisfy my sweet tooth, I never feel like I need to eat more than 100-200 calories worth. And they're all natural with no added sugar!
