I have been losing since August 26th, 2008, but I joined sparkpeople in December. So far I lost 84 pounds!

I've been on Spark people for a year now. I'm down about 60 lbs. I've been at a standstill this month, but I'm okay. My life has really changed for the most part. I'm eating more fruits and veggies and I'm out of the house doing something more often than sitting in front of the tv.

It is hugley frustrating. Believe me I know. I finally went and talked to my doc about it. I work with a nutritionist and saw my doc after I saw Nancy. Come to find out I was restricting too much on cals + with the exercise I was burning off so my deficit was even greater. I've been relaxing a bit and trying to get more fresh foods in and I'm starting to slowly see some results.

Everyone is different and every body deals with weight loss differently. Just keep up the good work. This isn't going to be a quick fix. It is going to take time lots and lots of time. Darn it anyways.

Do you take measurements? How are your clothes fitting?
This is why my doc has told me I cannot get on the scale for 3 months. I get too caught up on those #'s.

Well said Justtate. I feel the same way although it would be nice to see the scale move too. Clothes fit differntly, I can go farther and admit when enough is enough instead of trying to push too hard and failing. Being forgiving of myself and moving forward.

I'm with INDYBUTTERFLY - TOO LONG! I started with SparkPeople last July just before I went on vacation for most of the month of August, knowing that I would gain ahem...a few pounds. I did of course. So in September 08 I started following their menus and the menus with Alli. It helped but the scale wasn't budging much. In March 09, I decided it was time to kick it up a notch and really focus. I am doing better about my food choices and I am up to 57 min of exercise each day at least 5 days a week (started at 30 min maybe 4 days per week). To me that is the biggest plus from all of this. I can walk further, get through an entire DVD workout and I'm dying from the exertion.
I know the weight will come off slowly and it is. I know my stamina will increase and it has. I know I will get to a healthier me and I am day by day. The biggest motivation for me is everyone on SparkPeople and Twitter. Everyone is so supportive and has been there too. It is making this daily challenge less challenging and even fun.
Keep up the good work. Everything we do will get us where we want to be!

I started two years ago with a six month subscription to WW. I was so proud that I got under that 200 mark and then life intervened and I couldn't afford the weight loss subscription anymore.

I'm just now getting serious about it again.

I would say since I was maybe - 12? Younger than that actually. Course, I didn't have a weight problem then but my family thought I did. Long story. I really got into it this last Feb w/my doc. Had a chat with her about my frustrations and I'm insulin resistant so it's in my best interest to do something about this. My nutritionist turned me on to SP.

I got really seriuos about it in January, and lost 19 pounds...then I hurt my leg and could not go to the gym. I finally got the okay from the doctor to go back, so now i just need the motivation to do it!! Nothing like starting back at the beginning, I gained back all of the weight that I lost, so I am starting over!!!

I have been at it (this time around) since Apr 09. I have lost 26 pounds till date which includes the 13 pounds I lost after I joined SP.

The weight is coming off slowly. What I love about SP is that it really helps me when I am discouraged. It is good to know that lots of us go through the same downs and can come out with flying colors if we only persist! emoticon

I started this lifestyle change July 21, 2008. To date, I have lost 136 pounds and want to lose another 50-60. It hasn't been easy. I have days I get mad, days I cry and days I want to just give up but I remind myself that I do deserve this healthy life and I refuse to fail anymore.

Been working at it for 3 months. Lost a lot of weight in the first month, but haven't been as active lately. Luckily I haven't gained any back yet, but if I don't get motivated again I will.

I have been at it seriously since April 27th. I did start half heartedly in Jan. I lost 8 pounds from Jan 1 to April 27 and then 21 more since then.

I have lost and gained weight many times over my life. This is the last time, it is coming off and staying off.

I lost the great majority of mine in about 6 months. Then I plateaued, then I kind of gave up but still MAINTAINED for almost a year. I am back at it and on track again. Look forward to my ticker heading back down!!

The fact that I maintained instead of gaining it all back, and then some, as I have done in the past, speaks highly of this program and the support on here!!

I started my originally in 2005 but only got serious about my journey in April of 2008. I joined L.A. Weight Loss 12 week program and lost 12 pounds and then took a break. I started back in October of 2008 and have lost 12 more pounds. It has been slow going but I am trying to hang in there.

I have been at mine since the middle of July last year when I got so sick and almost died.

The weight came on August 12 though when I got to go to the doctor FINALLY and was admitted to the hospital that day for four days. I decided while in the hospital that it was BS and something had to be done.

The thing with me is I AM DOING THIS on MY OWN. NO SUPPORT AT HOME AT ALL!!!!! I get made fun of or picked on or even ridiculed for the weight loss.

I forgot....In 8 days the support thing is changing when I move to PA to be with my MAIN supporter.

Edited by: CAMERABABE at: 7/14/2009 (17:01)

I've lost and regained more weight than I care to think about. I joined Spark People in April but didn't really get serious or start to use the site until a little over a month ago. Guess I just wasn't ready before that. Now I've buckled down and I'm putting in the results...And WOW do I feel great! Still a long way from my main goal, but I can already see the changes happening.

I was just wondering how long you all have been working at your healthier lifestyle? Some team members have these very impressive loss totals and I was wondering how long it took you to get there. I am not looking to see people say they did it quickly - I am well aware this will be long, slow steady process for me - I just think I will be inspired to see some people keep going after a couple years or so to get towards their goal. Anyone willing to share their story? Thanks!

To start - I had lost 10 pounds last spring and gained 2 back over the course of 9 months. Then I joined SP 4/15/09 and have lost 15 since then. It's still down 23 pounds in 16 months which I am proud of but I still have a ways to go.
