Good morning team

I had fantastic tabada spinning class yesterday, it was both difficult and lots of fun. To day the plan is to go to the gym after work for muscular work out. Husband is going with me to day and I am extra happy with that :-)
He is starting to work on loosing weight also and it is nice to be able to share this with him.

Dd11 and dd9 are going to school dance to night and are where excited. First school dance for dd9 (5th grade). Last few days have been spent on what to wear and hew is going :-)

4LMARIEM - I have never felt I bloat when drinking alcohol, it is interesting so many of us do though. I agree in the change of mind even when we have a cheat day it is better day´s than a bad eating day before.

Melody - I am like that with spinning, cant wait for the next class :-) 7 day´s running streak is very good what are you aiming at? I hope your kindergarten kids are having better day to day then yesterday. Not sure I could make it a hole day with room full of kindergarten age kids :-)

KIRSTAB - yes not gaining is good and you could be changing fat in to muscle and therefore not loosing.

STACYH73 - emoticon to hear of your 1.6 lbs lost. Yes it is very nice to shop in my own closet :-)

TTROWERY - I hope you had lots of fun at Zumba.

Barb - Good for you going to the gym, it is ok to enjoy pizza once in a while. Actually pizza with the right topping is not a bad food it is what you put on your pizza that makes all the difference.
Boot camp is also expensive in Iceland so I will just enjoy what I am doing at my gym. I was actually born in Denmark while my father was finishing his study but was only 8 month old when moving to Iceland with my Icelandic parents (they lived in Denmark for 7 years while studying). We speak Icelandic in Iceland so that is my native language so English is very much a second language for me. Spell check is my best friend :-)

JSTEYN - Good for you signing up for the 10 km run. I am sure you will have fun.

Kelly - thank you :-)

LAURA_RED - emoticon with your progress.

TRUFFLES32 - Good to hear you had a good day. It is also starting to look like fall in Iceland, you could even call it winter!! Esja (the mountain I see outside my window) got her white hat on yesterday which is always´s the first sign that winter is coming.

Runmelly- Your post made me laugh! I used to be an interpreter, (sign language), in a Kgarden class and you brought back fond memories! God bless preschool and Kindergarden teachers! I bet you can't wait for the runny nose season to start! I think I saw more booger picking during that year than in all of my life up to that point!!

Today was a really positive day for me. It started to get crazy around dinner time. But it's slowed down again. Yay. It's starting to look like fall here.

JSTEYN--congrats on signing up for a 10K! I haven't done that yet, but hope to some day. We have a lot of 5K races around where I live, but very few 10Ks. They had one about a month ago, but it was during the day and I can't take off work to run (haha).

TTROWERY--Zumba is so much fun.Wish I could get back into it, but my schedule doesn't allow for it right now.

I'm hoping for a calmer day with kindergarten today. Yesterday I had 2 criers, a puker and a pants wetter!! Whew! Crazy day. I think it's the weather. It's been really warm. Hopefull we see some cooler temps soon!

Happy Hump Day everyone!!

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Yes I agree, BOOTCAMP is really great! I hate it and LOVE it! Today I can particularly feel every muscle in my core! I have a great trainer and she is really inspiring, so I don't want to let her down on the nutrition side!

Congrats to all the great losers out there - its inspiring! The runners.. GO FOR IT. I enrolled in the Unicef Disneyland 10km in November. Haven't run 10km in a while, but its starting to get cooler now so I'm sure I'll be ready. The heat in HK is a challenge all on its own.

Have a great day everyone :D

Hello Sparkfriends!! :)

Runmelly - emoticon that you are running 7 days in a row!!!

Juanita - welcome! First I read your note and I thought you are saying 106 lb. I`m like, get out of here - but then I realized it`s kg. LOL Sorry... Yes, it means a lot what you eat!! I`m going to the gym since April but I didn`t lose a darn pound because of the food I ate. When I start paying attention I started loosing it. (Look up Jorge Cruise Belly Fat Cure diet book I swear on it, I lost 30 lb with that book without exercise) good luck!!

MomtoAki - I loved the bootcamp, you should try it too, but it`s not cheap :( Now they will have a very good special, $99 for 6 weeks but I am helping my mom to buy a condo and I can`t make arrangements when I have to be somewhere on a certain time.
(may I ask - were you born in Iceland? Is English your native language?)

4LMariem - the food you cooked sounds great!! I have to try it!

Stacy - Congrats on your weightloss!! 1.6 is great!! Food tracking really helps to know how much you eat!

TTRowery - Have fun on the Zumba. I tried it once, I couldn`t get up for days, but it was fun!! :)

I did get to the gym today. 600 calories - just the pizza I had for breakfast. (I know... bad bad babasi, but it was sooo good. I love cold pizza with milk :) )

BABASI: Good 4 you!
It has now been 1 week since I started tracking my food again and boy has it paid off!
I have learned so much about my calorie intake! W/O tracking, I was going way over. No wonder I was gaining! LOL

RUNMELLY: emoticon 6 days and counting re: your running streak! Happy 7th!

TRUFFLES: ~Have A Goal Reachin' Day!~

JUANITA: emoticon Enjoy your journey!

MOMTOAKI: You're doin' great! emoticon It is so much fun to go shopping in our closets and storage bins for our smaller clothes, right?! emoticon

MARIEM: Congrat's on the steps you are taking! I can relate!
I am a cheese fanatic and at least now when I have it, I measure it and make myself accountable to the calories.. I now have to "fit it in" to my daily range. Instead of it controlling me! LOL *cheese is powerful*

KIRSTAB: ~*Congrat's on 9 lbs. gone thus far!*~

I hope you all have a GOAL REACHIN' TUESDAY!

I woke up this morning feeling heavy and it's my weigh in day. No change from last week so the good news is, it wasn't a gain!

It's so nice to hear successes from everyone from better choices with food to fitting into smaller clothes!

Thanks everyone for the congrats!!

TTRowery: Way to go on the 3 pound loss!!! It is so motivating to see the scale move!

So, yesterday I had a 5 oz. glass of wine. I was feeling a bit bloated before bed and I got on the scale. Sure enough I was up 4 pounds. It's gone this morning. I can't remember who said they see a big fluctuation on the scale when they drink alcohol, but it looks like it's the same for me. Crazy!

I went over my calories by a little bit yesterday, but with the exercise I seemed to break even for the day, so I don't feel bad. I was HUNGRY, darn it and I wanted something not so plain for dinner. Here is an example of the change in mind set I've gained from sparking for the past month:

I decided instead of grilling my boneless skinless chicken breast I coated them and sauteed them. Yum. Before spark, I'd dredge them in milk and eggs and then flour or bread crumbs. Then saute with ample butter and oil combination. This time, I put some franks hot sauce on the chicken, measured out 1/4 cup of flour for all four pieces of chicken, measured out 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 Tablespoon of oil for sauteeing. I browned the chicken and then put it on a broiler pan and baked it until it was done. So, I still had tasty chicken which was undeniably healthier than how I would have previously made it, AND because I took the time to measure I could still track my food. Tracking, especially when I'm going to go over, really helps me not to totally blow it.

Anyway, I know it was a lengthy post, but I'm kind of happy to see some changing going on as well as some weight loss.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Lisa

Good morning team

Went to parents meeting yesterday at dd9 team gymnastic, this is her second year in competition team so I felt like advanced parent when all the new one was asking questions :-)
We are hoping that she will be selected for the A team this year. First competition 29th of October (not sure if competition is the right English word!) looking forward to that one.

I am wearing a skirt at work that I have not used in long time. It is so much fun to start re using my old cloth´s again. Spinning for me later to day.

BOURGEMOM - Nice that the lady at the store told you that you needed smaller size, even though she called you mam. :-)

Alethea - Good for you staying so active. I am always trying to do at least 15 min pr day of extra housework (not including cooking and stuff like that) but don´t keep up with it. The house looks so much better when I do though.

4lmariem - emoticon for winning the biggest looser challenge.

Michelle - I hope you get your dog to stop peeing on the floor and waking you up at night.

KIRSTAB - sorry to hear of your knee, I hope it heals soon.

Melody - I envy you to run with your husband. I managed to get mine to go with me to the gym on Sunday´s but I go in to spinning class and he is doing weight lifting.

TTROWERY - emoticon loosing that 3 lbs keep up the good work.

STACYH73 - I hope you get a good number on that scale to day.

Barb - Good for your son to save you from eating to much cake .-) I have never been to boot camp not sure if it is my thing but have heard of many people loving it.

Juanita - Welcome to the team.

Hi all :D
My name is Juanita and I live in Hong Kong. Weigh 106 kg with BMI of 35. UGH!

For the past two years I've been running, completed one 10km race. The past 4 months I've also been doing IMPACT (bootcamp) twice a week, running another 3-4 times a week and yet my weight is the one constant thing in my life! I've been losing cm's but not drastically. So today after weigh in my trainer and I agreed that it MUST be nutrition. I've been using the iphone application for a while... had no idea the website was this good.

Anyway, thats about me :D Hope to lose some here!

4LMARIEM- WAY TO GO!!!! That's so great! What a good month you had!

Sweetnis- your life sounds a lot like mine! Go Go Go........

Runmelly- i think it's so fun that you run! I jog about 15 miles a week if I can. It's starting to get fun now but it took a year and a half to get to where it wasn't a struggle the whole time. I hope I can keep my running through the winter.

Everyone else....Monday is OVER! YAY!

Good morning :)
Babasi--make sure you listen to your body! Otherwise it will make you listen :) Great job on the food tempation resistance...me? I love cake and can't avoid it if it's there. One of the teachers brought me over a cupcake yesterday and it was soooo good...dang it! Oh well, that's another reason why I run!!

TTROWERY-- emoticon on your 3lb weight loss! I haven't seen that yet, just 2 lbs was ever my biggest loss. That's awesome!

Today is picture day at school. Have to figure out what to wear...most flattering, you know emoticon Have a great day everyone!!

Oh, by the way, I completed Day 6 of my running streak yesterday...on to day 7! emoticon

Hello Spark Friends,

How are you?

MomtoAki - I did not get to the spin class... but I will try next time!! :) That bootcamp kicked my butt!! I was hurt real bad. My abs the 1st day, my legs the 2nd day and my arms the 3rd day. (at least not everything at once, right?)
I really didn`t have much cake, because my son was liking it a lot, so I didn`t get much. But they had other cookies - Hungarian types what I can`t make - I had a few of those. Hmmm it was good!! Just like my grandma`s back at home.

Yesterday we had some friends over for a cook out and she made some type of cake too. Yes, I had some :( It was delicious. But I was good and packed most of the sweets away for them to take it back home! Better if it`s not in the house!

I started tracking my food again today too!! And made it to the gym. Had some cardio, then I did the same exercises what they made me do in the bootcamp class. Now I`m hurting again...

Have a great week everybody!!!

YOu can do it, it`s just food!!!

Barb :)

Hello all! Didn't do that great eating while at school today, but just got back from a 2.5 mile run with the husband and I feel much better! I decided to take my snacking into consideration and plan for it with packing a salad and fruit for my lunch.

Morning all. I was sleeping real good last night and something woke me up enough to hear my dog got out of our room and was peeing in the hallway. I am going to have to buy a cage for her and stick her in it at night if she won't stop. We are going to put her in the laundry room tonight and see how that goes. We were shutting her in our bedroom since she won't go to the bathroom in there but she found another way out now.

I was getting ready to go for a walk last night and when I went out it was raining so that was nixed. I did end up playing on the wii with Anna last night for about 30 min. It was the smurfs dance party game. Good thing we rented it first. It is aimed more for younger kids.

Hope you all have a great day today. I need to get ready for a 10am meeting.

Good Morning!
I finally was able to get in a good exercise. The last few days have been so hectic that I haven't been able to get one in. I have been tracking my food intake and I've been doing ok with that. I'm a little scared on what the scale will have to say when I weigh in on Wednesday. I felt good clothes shopping this weekend; I was looking at XL shirts and the sales lady said no mam you need a large. Well thanks for the size complement but now I feel old.
I have been checking in on what you all have been doing. Hope you all have a good week.

Good morning team

I had a really good spinning class yesterday and then I did some push up and crunches after. I am very happy to see the progress I have made. I did three sets of 10 push up´s, 30 push up in all. I feel it is such a short time since I had trouble making it to 10 push up with breaks in between. Husband said I know need to start doing the push up on my toes not on my knee, fist I want to enjoy being able to do this. :-)
All daughters where busy with friends yesterday and husband was preparing school assignment (working on his master degree) so I enjoyed my book instead and did some house cleaning.

No exercise to day and letting my body heal from the muscular sourness.

4LMARIEM - Good to hear you lost the 3 pounds you gained. Sorry to hear that your shines are giving your trouble. I hope it get better soon.

Michelle - Sorry to hear your husband keep waking you up, I hope you slept better next night. Enjoy the day with your girls.

KIRSTAB - How nice to get a clean home and a good work out :-)

ADALTON124 - Sorry to hear last week was so difficult for you. I am sure this week will be much better.

Alethea - emoticon to hear that you are down to 177 pounds know you will say good bay to 180´s Good for you leaving that beer alone.

STACYH73 - Good for you eating healthy and doing your exercise. Keep it up.

MANCMALE78 - We all struggle from time to time with getting our exercise in to busy live. Keep up doing your best and watching what you eat.

CARRIE535 - welcome back. I know this yo yo to well. Keep it up this time, you can do it.

GRACE1221 - Good for you working on your upper body while your foot heals. I love turkey sounds delicious.

Melody - Tracking can be difficult I agree. I often have difficulty trying to find out the right English name for the food I eat. Sometimes I just guess what I thing is similar! Good for you going for a run both in the morning and afternoon.

TRUFFLES32 - Yes weekend can be difficult. I will usually have small bite of 70% chocolate when getting that need something sweet feeling. It helps me.

HI all. You guys are so inspiring to read! So good to know that we are all tugging on the same side in this weight loss war.
Did good today. I really was craving fatty sugary foods today. The weekends are hard for me to stay on track. But, I ate sugar free ice cream and drank some diet hot chocolate and that seems to have curbed things.
I hope you all have an awesome Monday!

Good morning Team!
Well tracking yesterday started out well, but then I went to festival and I have idea how to even look up what I ate! So, I ran extra. I ran 2 miles in the a.m. by myself and 2 miles in the p.m. with the husband. I feel better :)

Today is a new day of tracking everything! Hope you all have a wonderful week! I'll try to get back to ppl's post later in the day...busy day ahead!!

Drink your H2O :)

Had a good dinner..turkey and white bean chili made with lean ground turkey...yummy...i may not be in control of my heel, but i can control what goes is my mouth!

Thanks again for the encouragement and will heed your advice to take time! Have a good monday!

Hi! I'm recently returned to sparking after being gone for a long time. Have already lost almost 8 pounds in the past 2 weeks. But that is always my way. I start out really good, then after a little while I quit, and gain everthing back. I'm determined not to do that again this time!

so I did it...i worked on my goals, made it through the day without drinking that beer in the frig and even today doing good. football games and all i dont crave the beer as much. i know i can have it, just choose not to. I got on the scale this morning and after a few days of no alcohol and tracking my food i dropped to 177. YAY! but i know my weight goes up and down about three pounds all the time. one positive. I have not went over 180 in over a month so i can say at least its teetering in the 170s. lol....hopefully i can make that a permanant number by the end of the month.
thanks team for all the support! i am off work, finished my 5k my way training today, cleaned house and now watching football with DH. Trying to rest up the rest of the day. Body still not feeling 100%. I am going to start planning my meals for this week today. Hope you all have a great day!

Last week was a week from hell. I was unprepared, over-extended on time and energy, and I paid the price by losing a big client on Friday - just before I had to go and finish preparing for 3 parties on Saturday. I haven't been on plan really, but my eating isn't crazy, just probably not enough calories overall.

Well, today is a new day and it's the beginning of a new month. I need to approach my work and eating and life in general in a more balanced way. I can't keep over extending myself like this.

Morning all - Yesterday I did pilates and then cleaned the house in a major way. I worked up a major sweat doing the floors and polishing furniture. So when I was tracking my pilates, I saw that there is an option to track heavy cleaning, so I counted 60 minutes of that and it was over 400 calories burned!!! That seems crazy! But between pilates and cleaning, I'm soooo sore today! I need to do a ton of laundry today - too bad I can't at least get a calorie burn from that!

I think there is something renewing about having a month start on a Saturday. Something about having the month start with 2 days off makes me feel like I can really devote the month to staying on track for me. I hope that those of you who struggled through September can have a great October!

Morning all. I slept really good last night and was dissapointed that hubby woke me up not once but twice since 5am. I finally crawled out of bed at 9 and now am waiting for Anna to get ready for her cadicism class. This will be her last year of class since she will be conirmed in May. Gonna come home and do some laundry and play on the wii while hubby and Cory sleep. Cory was out late last night - she went to homecoming with her girlfriends. I couldn't stay up so when she wakes up I'll ask her how it went. Next year both girls will be able to go. I gotta get off here and get ready myself so she isn't late because of me.

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Today was my official weigh in day. I lost the 3 pound mid-week gain, but did not lose for the week. I'm wondering if it was the wine I drank mid week? Next time I have some I will see if the same thing happens. My shins are still concerning me. I am up early this morning and planning to go on a walk. I'm trying to keep up the the getting up and moving routine. I could see how I'd easily fall off track. I love to sleep! :)

Mom to Aki: I hope you enjoy your weekend with your family and your book. Way to go with your strength training. Keep up the good work.

Jortay: Good job with tracking. I really think it is key!

Runmelly: Wow! Keep up the good runs!! I'm a bit jealous ;) as I've been sidelined for the better part of a week now. Good luck with the tracking.

Alethea: Thanks so much for keeping things going especially when you haven't been feeling well. I'm sorry you are yo yo-ing. That is frustrating, I know. Keep up the tracking... they say nutrition is 80% of the battle in weight loss...so keep up the tracking! Feel better soon, lady!

Welcome to all the newbies!! Good luck in your journey!

Good morning team

I went to the gym yesterday and did my muscular work out. It was kind of strange when you are used to having a trainer with you in class to be there alone (yes the gym was ful of people put everyone minding there own business) with my own music in my ear. I am so used to having someone incurring us forward all the time. I will keep going though as I feel this is good for my progress.

Did not do much else yesterday, some cleaning up the house between reading a book and talking to the girls.

To day it is spinning class and clean up the house some more, reading more and just relaxing.

Michelle - I hope you enjoyed playing with your grandkids. What a great kid you have in Anna enjoy your Sunday with her.

LENKA763 - I hope you also had a good Saturday and know Sunday.

Barb - Birthday parties are always fun and cake is ok if you just have small piece of it. You have to tell me if you like the spinning class.

Alethea - September is over and done with and good for you not letting it beat you down. I know you can do it in October. Thank you for doing the challenges, talking about it reminds me that I never turned in last week challenge!!

STACYH73 - welcome to the team.

TRUFFLES32 - Good luck with your math test. Those pancakes sounds good. I have cooked one ore two things from the side but need to try some more.

Kelly - Both spinning and weight lifting extra good for you. emoticon

Amy - Good for you tracking your calories and do you exercise, I know you could do it. I can´t really say I enjoyed the work out yesterday but I felt ok with it! And thank you to you to :-)

JENDAWL - welcome to the team. Sorry to hear of your divorce. This difficult time will pass and you will fell much better I know it is hard to see right know but it will. Take it one step at time, you can do it. emoticon

Melody - Good for you starting to track food. Are you trying to change the start weight on your ticker? It should be in edit my page and then edit my ticker.

Good morning all!
Today is emoticon of tracking my food again. No matter what I eat, I will write it down. I re-weighed myself so I know what I'm starting with...my ticker is wrong, but I can't seem to change it. I've added some pounds since my last weigh-in. I'm on a running streak, 4 days and counting. Going to see how far this takes me. I've got my time back down again and feel great about running.

Alethea--hope you feel better soon. My husband and I both got the flu shot (well mist, really) and we both go each other sick :( No fun! Make sure you take time to rest!

Kelly--great job on the workouts! I love how positive your post sounds :)

I know I'm missing other people but know that I think of each one of you as I read your posts and send warm wishes your way. Welcome to the new people! Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Hello to everyone.
Welcome to the newcomers...you will find this to be a very supportive group.

I had a great week tracking calories and exercising....thank you all for your encouragement last week to give me the leg up back onto the healthy wagon!!

So here I am with some support of my own as a pay it forward ;-)

Boilerinaz - I agree with you on the measurements...they do keep you on the right track when the scale is not talking your language. Hope your classes at church go well.

4LMariem - No worries...you knew you had family coming....you are still on the right track. I have been fluctuating with 2 lbs FOREVER...I know how frustrating it can be. I find that even if I track my calories and stay within my limits drinking any kind of alcohol shoots my weight up for at least 3-4 days...then it disappears again. That is why my weigh in day is Thursdays...because at any given time on the weekend out to dinner or even relaxing on the couch with hubby I can drink 1 glass of wine. 1 glass...and I know that I will see the consequences of it till at least Weds of the following week. Keep your chin up and just keep in the back of your mind that our bodies are amazing....crazy and magical and they sometimes do things we do not understand. But they also can run for miles and give us children...take the good with the bad.

Grace- I too had a horrible September...with all hopes in the world for it to be wonderful. October is a new month and a fresh start. I agree with everyone's advice to you. Your body will tell you when it is ready .... you can not rush it by worrying about it....just listen to it...feed it the tools it needs to heal and try to relax. Stress is not good for healing. Time heals all wounds.

Truffles32- Welcome. I am exactly where you are. I lost 45 lbs 2 years ago....then stalled. Remained within that 5 lb window until now. I am trying to make that last 35-40 lb push again. It is difficult...especially when you kind of really like the jeans you have in this present size...lol.

Mom - To - Aki - Did you enjoy your muscular workout?? I too have to take some pics in the next size jeans that I want to get down into....not flattering...but it needs to be done. Thank you for being so encouraging to everyone all the time. I do not know if I can do this every day...and I appreciate that you do. Thank you.

Sweetn3s - I am sorry you are not feeling well...you are always so encouraging to everyone here. Hopefully you will be on the mend soon. Get as much rest as you can being the busy lady that you are. AND I am with you on the cake...I can pass over it no problems. Now Ice cream....that is another story...but only chocolate...lol.

Be well everyone...and thank you for all your encouragement!
Amy

Hi everyone...just checking in...Happy Saturday!!!

Got in a great workout at the gym (hour of spinning and some weights - whoo hoo)! Didn't eat the healthiest, but did okay (I'll eat healthier tomorrow :) ).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! The weather is still in the 90s here, but this coming week looks to be cooler...in the 80s and maybe even 70s. It would be great to turn the air off and open the windows!

Keep up the good work everyone and a great rest of the weekend!

Hey all! Happy Saturday! Just made oatmeal pancakes from the recipe site. Yum and filling!
Really need to run today but have a math test to take also. Hopefully I can get both in.

Sweetnis- Hope work and party go well even though you're not feeling well. It sucks when you don't feel good and there's no down time! Sept wasn't the best month for me either but I'm with you, October will be better!

Mom to aki- Thanks for the welcome! I need to learn how to measure too. You are awesome for having your hubby take pics! I haven't been that brave yet!

well team, I got myself a little down in the dumps this week. I let september slip by with no loss. I beat myself up a bit and here I am refusing...do you hear me??? REFUSING to give up. I went back over my goals, looked at why i didnt "make it happen" and will be planning better this month. Here we are October emoticon . I did get the new challenges up if you are interested. emoticon . I am not feeling well today and have to work late tonight with a birthday party right before work. I already have a plan for that. Eating before I go and water. I dont really worry about cake anyway. I am not attracted to desserts too much. Its the regular food that gets me...fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pizza kinda food.
Ok, going to track food now and plan dinner so i dont eat at work tonight. have a great weekend!

Good Mooooorning!!

How is everybody?
I am at work, then birthdayparty in the afternoon. I can`t wait!! :) (that means some cake though.... I will try to eat just a little bit)

4LMariem - I also lost 8lb and just stopped there. I hope both of us start losing more soon. I love it when the scale showes less and less and less.

Grace - be careful with that injury, you really should wait until it heals. Check online what kind of exercises you can do, I`m sure there are a bunch of others what still makes you tired and sweaty :)

Melody - keep up the great work with running and tracking food. I am soooo bad at it. I should do it too.

MomtoAki - I will try to get to that spin class since you are so cheerful about it!! LOL Although my muscle pain is still huge!! I wont make it to the gym today, but maybe tomorrow then.

Happy Weekend Everybody!!

Barb :)
