OH the dreaded SHIN SPLINTS!! These my dear friend are AWFUL! But, they will go away. I suffered these terribley when I first started working out. Good shoes are a must. Also strech really really well the lower legs and ankles, turning the foot every way possible to stretch all the little muscles in the legs and foot. IBuprofen an hour or so before your work out. It will take time to get past these. Be strong and keep pushing! They hurt I know but keep going and they to will go away!!

Glad you are running! I never at 346pounds thought I would run and now it is my favorite thing to do!!! It can be so rewarding and spiritual! Keep up the good work! Don't let this hold you back:)

Hello! I'm pretty new here, but this is one issue I've had with no answers to, so hoping some of you guys can help me out! I got really motivated to start running, and a friend introduced me to the C25k program, so I got some nice running shoes and an mp3 player to listen to podcasts and went on my way. BIG problem! After running on a very soft track only about once around my shins started to hurt just so badly. I almost immediately had to stop! I was at the track with a friend and so I figured I'd just keep walking while she ran but my shins just continued to ache until I finally had to stop alltogether. I walked to the track for a warm-up, and stretched! So I'm pretty clueless, someone have any advise for me?
