Hello everyone. My name is Kim I am 22, married and have a 20 month old. I have tried staying fit, eating healthy and trying my best to love myself all throughout my life. I was skinny when I was six, then bigger since. My family had terrible eating habits and health issues but I didn't know any better. I started getting healthy and fit when I was 16 and by the time I was 18 I was healthy and fit but still not happy with myself. I look back and wish I where that size again. I always wanted to be one of the skinny pretty girls but with a 5'10 frame, size 11 shoe and boxier structure I have realized that being one of the skinny girls that can wear anything they want is unhealthy for me. I started the end of January at 308 lbs, am now 296 and want to get to 180 lbs or 160. My husband is worried that I will look sick if I get to my goal weight but as long as I exercise and eat right I think I will be fine. For the first time in a long time I am determined, have a wonderful support team and am going to get to my goal. No more backing down for me!

Hello everyone I am Trey Pelts and I am new to sparkpeople and have about 105 pounds to lose. It is so great to meet people who are around the same age as me going through what I have been going through my whole life. I hope I can meet some great people who I can share defeat and victory with (the latter hopefully being more often). so anyways message me or send a friend request if you want, that'd be great.

Just wanna say Hello! I joined sparkpeople a long time ago and have used it a few times, but ive been using it everyday for the past 2 weeks as i begin a new journey. I'm using Lean cuisine meals and have lost 10 lbs so far. I hope everyone is successful and stays on track because it can be a hard road, but worth it. Thanks, and i'll see you all later!

Keeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos - the trees, the clouds, everything.

I just found out about this site and joined a few minutes ago. I am so relieved to see other people posting about the same problems I am having. That sounds terrible, I wish everyone a successful journey, but I have felt for so long that I am the only one struggling with my weight. I have tons of friends that have a few extra pounds on them, but I am the largest of my circle and very self-conscious about my weight and very private about the battle I am fighting to get rid of it. I am thinking of trying Nutrisystem, the price dropped to $240 and I've been thinking about it for awhile. Has anyone else had any experience with it? Are there negative things about it they don't show in that convincing infomercial?

My name is Shaina and I have about 120 lbs to lose to get to my ideal weight. I also want to find some fun exercise DVDs so I don't have to worry about getting to the gym as I am really only able to get there on Saturday as during the week my husband works late and we only have one car. My reward when I lose the weight is to go shopping and actually enjoy it while i build a new wardrobe.

Hello everone,
I am very new at the forums and blogging thing, so forgive me if thi seems like a silly question. At the bottom of almost everyone's reply, is a goal meter of sorts. I can't see mine, nor do I know how to activate it. Can someone help me with this?

Hi everyone. :)
I would just like to say first and foremost that I am very nervous to be here. I have heard amazing things about this website from people I trust, so I am taking a leap and giving it a try.
To be completely honest, I have never truly had control over my life up until recently. I was raised in a very abusive home, where one parent would go to work, the other would beat me up, and then the other one would come home and smack me around. I grew up with little to no social skills, much like a feral animal. I never knew anything about control, or self-worth, or true love, or happiness. Though I was a straight A student and involved with extra curricular activities, by the time I was 16 my home life was so horrible that I took a bottle advil, and said goodbye. I was found in time to have my stomach pumped, and I was fortunate enough to not have suffered practically any brain damage. I moved out of my house at 16, lied on some applications, and started to rent my own house. I graduated HS with horrible grades and a full time job, but I was very proud of my self for accomplishing something. I just recently finished my A.A. Degree in Psychology, and I plan to eventually have either a Master's or PhD. I have a beautiful daughter (3), and an amazing husband that love me no matter what.
It has been so hard for me to learn how to control things in my life, and I have struggled with it. I pretty much have my attitude down to a T, my finances and budgeting are looking up, and the relationships in my life are much more healthy, and improving all the time. But the biggest demon I have yet to face is food, and I need to do it now. I have procrastinated, eaten every burger, flip-flopped, and even tried starving myself. None of those things worked, of course. I have tried going from no exercise to intense exercise, and that doesn't work either. I need to lose weight for me. Any kind words are welcome, and I will try to do the same for everyone here. I see so many gorgeous faces on this webpage, and all I can think is, "These are not fat girls...These are beautiful people who haven't reached their full potential." We are too young and too awesome to be feeling and looking this yucky. Let's DO THIS. :D

HI! I'm Claudia I'm 28 yrs old. I've been overweight my whole life. I started to diet last July after i saw that i was 280lbs and knew that it was easier to gain those 20lbs and get to 300lbs. So i challenged myself to lose weight. Now i'm 257lb and still losing. My goal is just to get out of the 200's and I know i can do it. I love this site cause they motivate you a lot.

Hi I'm Jessica. I'm 25 years old, 5'3 and from Jacksonville, FL. I have been overweight most of my life. I have tried losing weight before and always given up. Now, I am committed to losing the weight. I started my journey in November 2010 weighing 274 pounds. I have lost 14 pounds so far! I've never lost this much before and it feels great! I can't wait to keep dropping the pounds and get to my goal weight (140 pounds). I am hoping this team will keep me motivated and maybe make some friends on this journey.

I am glad that you have your husband, it seems like you are really invlove and that is so important when it comes to a program like this. I too am someone who knew children were not an option for me. Keep strong and always keep your eye on the prize. If you need to talk about anything you know where to find me.

H! My name is Bethann. I'm 5'6" and weigh 330 lbs. I am 29 years old. I have been married for 7 years to my best friend. I have gained 125 lbs since we have been married. I can never remember a time that I was not overweight. I am diabetic and use insulin that is 5x stronger than normal insulin. This has just added to the weight gain. I need help! I have never in my life been able to lose any weight. I would like to know someone that has been through this and lost the weight.
My goal is to lose any weight possible. I want to get pregnant and this weight is preventing that from happening. I just want to be healthy and have a baby! Feel free to contact me I need all the help and support I can get.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! My name is Juli. I'm 28, 5'3", and my starting weight was 272 lbs. I'm happy to say that as of today I've lost 10 lbs. I've been overweight since I was a preteen and as an adult it has spiraled out of control. When I started I was at the heaviest I've ever been.

I live in Seattle, WA and recently decided to move back to Pittsburgh, PA which is where I grew up. After making that decision I knew it was time to make another big change so my New Year's resolution/before I move back plan is to lose 50 lbs before I move in April/May. My ultimate weight loss goal is 135 lbs. So I have a ways to go.

I wish you all the best of luck!

Hi there, everyone. I am Ginger, 28 years old, from East Texas. I am down 4 lbs this week (sitting at 283.6 as of this morning's weigh-in)... I am currently enrolled in my second semester of college- Majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science.

I don't have a sad sack story to tell you to use as a crutch- let's just all be honest enough to say most of us have had a hard life, and most of us blame our weight gain on that... when in all reality, we got this way by losing control.

My aim is to gain control of my life. It has, for the last 13 years, been spinning out of control. I was raised in beauty pageants, winning several County titles as a young'un.

I was married once, to man who met me on a BBW website- he became abusive, and in the end, I was "too fat" for him. He cheated, and we divorced a month and a half after being married. (we dated for 4 years before we got married).

This year, I will marry my best friend. We've known each other for 12 years, and he has 3 beautiful children. He loves me just the way I am, but has no problem helping me lose the weight I need to lose.

As you all can tell, I am a talker! So enough about me!!!

Hope I can make some new friends (who are SERIOUS and consistent) with Spark Buddies!

God Bless,
Ginger

I'm gonna live forever if the good die young!

I started here at 315, i'm down to 296, it's a tough journey and if you need a buddy i'm here. I was told the same thing...infertility in obese women can often be cured by losing weight. I have one beautiful two year old daughter, and I hope to be able to bear her a sibling eventually...it's an awesome reason to lose the weight!

Hello, I'm Tracy. I'm 26 years old. I went to my doctors recently to look in to why my body is fighting me to have a baby. Well after a huge wake-up call and a tip from my doctor about this site, I'm here. I'm going to do everything I can to lose at least 160lbs. And trust me I'm going to need the help. Today's the first day of tomorrow :)

Hello, I'm Kelsey! I'm 20 years old and I will be 21 in June. I've been over weight as far back as I can remember and I would really like to change that! I was about 50 pounds lighter than I am now my senior year. A friend told me about this site and I'm really excited to start using it and make some progress! I'm working on getting my license for something related to Day Care. My hometown is in Illinois, but me and my boyfriend moved to the state of Washington about 4 months ago. It was for a fresh start and a much needed changed in my life. I've worked on getting a job I've always wanted and I recently started college classes. We live with my boyfriend's sister and her two year old son. He's such a handful and so much fun! I just want to be a healthy 20 year old and this will be my journey there!

Hey! I'm Ashley! I'm a 26 year nursing supervisor, daughter, sister, wife, step-mother, and mother (to 5 furry kids) I weight 325lbs which is my highest weight ever. I'm 5'7" and have some health problems. High blood pressure being one and second is having some major spine issues. Every day can be a challenge but I face it head on with a positive attitude. They say losing weight will fix a lot of my issues. I hope that's true. Weight loss would be great but more than anything I'm aiming to be healthy! I'm glad to be apart of this team once again (I've been on spark under other names before and have had some success). I look forward to this journey! Best wishes everyone!

Welcome to the team! This coming from someone who just joined the team about 4 days ago! LOL. I read your story and think you will be happy with Spark People. It's great site and everyone here is wonderful because they all know what it's like. In my "real life" I feel kind of lonely while on my weight loss journey because all of my heavier friends don't want to lose weight and all of my thin friends don't watch what they eat so I am surrounded by people who don't understand! ANYWAYS enough about me!! ;-)

I think that dating is such a personal thing and deciding not to date someone who is heavy because you feel like it might hinder your weight loss is...well...personal. For me I see it both ways. I agree that it might make things difficult because lets face it-eating a salad while sitting next to someone eating a cheeseburger is a little challenging, especially when we are newly on our weight loss journey. On the flip side of the coin is the fact that you can't only surround yourself with only slim/fit people. There will always be someone, a friend, family member, or coworker who will be bigger than you so you will have to rely on yourself to motivate yourself. Did that make sense? LOL. I am recently married and I married someone who is bigger than me so I feel as though I can really relate to your dilemma. Some days we build each other up, some days we tear each other down. What I have realized is that it is up to me. I have to be the one to say no and if she wants to eat something I know I shouldn't or she doesn't want to work out today, I am the only one who can make the RIGHT decision. But it does make it hard when I am getting ready to take a walk and she says she doesn't want to, or if she reaches for a snack food that I really enjoy but know I shouldn't indulge in. Thankfully, my wife is joining me on this weight loss journey but I know there will still be days where we both have to stand on our own 2 feet and say no to each other. I can't act as though she is always the one sabotaging me...most often I sabotage myself!

In reality though, even if we weren't married, even if I had never met her and I was single there will always be someone playing the saboteur and I have to learn how to simply say "NO!" Easier said then done!! I'm not sure if my rambling has helped you at all but what I'm trying to say is that you are responsible for you. Make the decisions you think are right for you! If you think refraining from dating right now is the best thing for you then you should! Whatever decision you make is up to you, no one can decide your fate except for you.

Good luck! We are all here for you along your journey!! Hope I have helped...at least a little!

Hi everyone,

So this is my first time posting anything on this website and am hoping by joining this 'Team' I will gain a few online friends with the same goal as me (lose 100+ lbs).

I am 25 years-old and weigh 256 lbs. With my heigh (I am 5'9") I'm told my weight is pretty evenly distributed throughout my body so when people hear how much I weigh their jaws usually hit the ground and they think I'm joking...I WISH!

My weight has always been an issue, but it wasn't until I started dating my first boyfriend that the weight started piling on, and at a fast rate.

We started dating at the end of our Senior year in high school and dated for 2 1/2 years. In the beginning I remember being the skinniest I had ever been. Well as him and I got comfortable with each other, I started noticing my pants getting tighter and because he would always tell me how good I looked, and how he didn't care if I was a few extra lbs heavier, I didn't make any changes in my diet or exercise routine.

It wasn't until we split up that I realized I had gained 80lbs and I sort of blamed the weight loss for our breakup. Though he would never admit it was...

256 isn't the heaviest I've been, but it's pretty darn close to it.

I want to eventually start dating again, but my weight usually keeps me from going out and finding that guy because I tend to find the guys who are skinnier than me and I must admit, I am not willing to date a man that is heavy like me because I just feel that would hinder my weight loss.

Am I wrong in thinking this?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear about everyone's weight loss soon!

My goal this week is to lose 6 lbs! Wish me luck!

Question: What's the hardest part about your journey so far?

The hardest part, is looking back at when my weight wasn't so bad, and looking at myself now and seeing the huge difference, that and sticking with better eating habbits...Im alywas fallin off the wagon!

Next question: Do you feel tired all the time? What do you do to perk back up?

Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light?

My weakest time of the day is the 2 hours between when I get home from work and when my husband will be home from work for dinner. I try to occupy myself by bringing home work to do at home, doing homework or drinking water so that at least my hands are busy.
Question: What's the hardest part about your journey so far?
