Thanks for all of the suggestions and encouragement. I am planning on getting these pictures done one way or another but I may use that weight mirror website first/as well. I think it will give me a better picture of what the "end result" or goal will look like and therefore (hopefully) give me more motivation as well.

Let the transformation begin! On the inside and the outside...

I found it! It's called www.weightmirror.com. It's pretty cool, I think you'll like it.

As for the the positive attitude compliment, thank you. I finally had an epiphany last year. My husband and I were struggling with finances, and a crazy family. I started stressing to the point that my hair was falling out (not good when my hair is already thin! Lol) I finally decided that everything happens for a reason and that I can only take care of myself, my husband and my children, and everyone else should kiss my booty. I started trying to find everything positive and it's helped a lot. Stress does a lot to your body physically. I still have bad days, but not nearly as many anymore. :) Besides girlie, just from looking at your profile picture, you're a knockout! Good luck with your weightloss goals and let me know if that website works for ya! :)

I think before photos are overrated. They aren't motivating for me. What motivates me is how my clothes fit. Why would I ever want to immortalize myself in my most horrible state? That just seems silly. You know what you looked like and you aren't going to want to show people how you looked before. It'll be embarrassing and awkward, because people wont know how to respond other than "wow! you were giant! good for you for loosing all that weight." its just awkward. Why make yourself miserable over a photo? be happy and move on. :)

I'd love to see the website if you have it! Otherwise I can just google around for it. My brain tells me that taking the pictures will be a good thing and it's not as bad as I think but I always stop myself from doing. Thanks so much for all of the advice and votes of confidence everyone.

@ACES4LILAH - Your positive attitude and outlook is so inspirational! I need to incorporate more positive thoughts exactly like the ones you've described into my daily life. I don't know why I find it so hard to have a positive attitude! I'm really working on it. I just have to stop thinking that happiness comes in a size 2! It's not true! My constant internal struggle... I'm working on it!

There's a website... I forget what it's called but I'll find it and post it. You take a picture of yourself now (I know it's scary, I hate taking them too!!!) but then you upload it and it gives you a scale to choose from. You can click "Lose 30lbs" and it shows you what you would look like after losing 30lbs by editing your photo. It's a GREAT motivational tool!!! Let me know if ya'll are interested and I'll find it for ya and pass it along!

Also, if you really hate taking pictures of yourself, have someone else do it. Or take it and don't look at it until you have lost weight. Take the picture, then hide it away. I think it would be a huge ego boost to tuck it away, then pull it out after you've lost 20 lbs and say, "Dang, I look even better now compared to this picture!" :)

Everyone's beautiful no matter what they tell themselves, so don't get discouraged. No matter what your weight, height, measurements, hair color... anything, everyone is beautiful. Reaching your health goals will just make you more beautiful! :) GOOD LUCK!!!

Oh man, do I ever know that feeling. I keep trying to tell myself that it'll be a valuable tool to mark progression, but I have an instinctive duck and hide response to seeing a camera. The idea of actually willingly standing still to have my picture taken is like a mental black hole.

It's possibly like ripping off a band aid (which I do NOT do, I am a slowly inch it off sort of person), you just have to close your eyes and jump and live to cringe another day.

I take pictures weekly when I weigh myself. They gross me out even now after 30lbs of weight loss but it keeps me focused on what I want to change. I don't really see much change but I know its happened. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Take them and save them on your comp, delete them from your digicam and don't look at them until you have reached your goal...once you do look back and I am pretty sure you will be amazed :)

I would try to take the "before" pictures and look at them as a way to keep you motivated. As you begin to lose weight, you can look at the "before" pictures as a comparison on how you used to look and how all of your hard work has paid off.

Hello All -

I was you guys would be able to help me. I really want to take and post "before" photos but I don't have the guts to do it! Each time I get ready to take the pictures I get disgusted w/ myself and back out of it (and end up feeling really down for the rest of the day!) I know it will be so worth it to make the comparison in the end but I cannot bring myself to do it. :( Any advice or stories about your own before/after photo experiences?

Thanks!
