I'm a lifelong soda addict, but I found that after about a month of drinking only water (and the occasional glass of low-fat milk or tea), my cravings for soda pretty much vanished. I started to love the way that pure water made my body feel, and by keeping hydrated at all times I had little cravings for any other type of drink.

I gave up soda last year cold turkey and switched to only water (with orange juice or milk in the morning) and no alcohol. I was on a super health kick at the time, getting ready to go to officer training for the AF. I bought a water bottle that had the lines on the side so I knew how much I was drinking, and I made sure I drink my 8 glasses of water each day. This lasted for about 6 months, and then after training, I started drinking soda again, but now its very irregular - only if I'm absolutely craving it, generally during the afternoon hours of a bad day at work. I recently started adding in crystal light or propel. I'm a huge juice drinker so generally if I crave a sweet drink I go for the orange juice, but now that they ahve Trop50 I don't feel as guilty about the juice! I've also added in a protein shake during the day and that helps as well!

I am also currently giving soda the boot, awesome for you! To help my cravings, I've bought a wide variety of individual serving flavored water packets like Crystal Light and Propel... Wal-Mart has a huge selection for really cheap. Crystal Light also makes the larger packets (for a pitcher) and I use those a lot also. I also keep a pitcher of fresh brewed iced tea and green tea in my fridge and sweeten with Truvia if I need an extra boost of sweetness.

One of the best things I did was invest in a metal water bottle that I always keep on me, I can throw it in the dishwasher and re-use it whenever I need. Makes it a lot easier to get in the water I need anytime and easier to say no to soda as well... Good luck!

We have a water cooler in our kitchen and I just invested in the Crystal Light single servings. They have a lot of flavors, they are only five calories, and some of them have energy and antioxidants added. They are 2.50 for 10 of them and they are wonderful!

When I decided to quit I switched from the soda to an energy drink I liked so that I would have the same bubbly experience with the sugary taste, and I would get the pick me up that the soda provided. I also started drinking Gatorade to keep up my hydration.

When I'd get a soda craving I'd try to drink the gatorade or juice (apple cider is always good!) If it was really strong I'd go for the carbonated energy drink. Now I barely drink soda at all and we don't even buy it, I only have it at work sometimes or if we go out to dinner, but I usually try to order an Ice Tea or just drink water if I can.

I also went out and bout one of the Camelbak "Better Bottles" that are BPA free. The design of it makes it super convenient to drink water and gatorade and it has lines on the side to measure how much you're drinking!

I end up drinking a lot more water as a result of it, which is something I'm usually really bad about.

Club soda with lime juice if what you really like is the bubbles! :) I'm not a soda drinker at all (gave it up in High School) but I do like this little treat now and then when I want somthing other than water.

I drink much less soda when I keep a pitcher of iced tea (w/caff.) and one with crystal light lemonade. I mix a little lemonade in with the tea and it is great. I am sure its a bit better for me than the soda.
I also pour a bit of the lemonade into my water- and love that too.

I find that when I crave soda, it's usually either because I want a flavorful drink, or energy. If I want energy, coffee or yerba mate tea work well. If I want flavor, drink mixes (individual size - Crystal Light, Propel, etc.), Vitamin Water, flavored water, MetroMint water, and other such beverages work well!

Calorie free sparking water does the trick for me sometimes., but Lipton's diet green tea does it for me as well. I love the citrus and raspberry flavors

I just discovered Special K's K20 water. It's a drink mix that you put into a bottle of water. It's only thirty calories, but the pink lemonade at least tastes really good. Plus, it has 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber, which for me is a huge plus because I have a hard time getting enough of those two.

I found just having bottled water in the fridge kicked my soda habit. It turns out I wanted the cold "easy to grab" drink more than what was in the container.
You could also try getting the little half cans and always drinking it with ice. Then it will seem as if there is more to drink.

carbonated water with lemon or lime juice and a bit of stevia should help! Or split it with fruit juice!

I know now that I know nothing.

Yes I have done this also. Some days I still have my cola but very irregularly. I started drinking carbonated water, something I never really liked and now I really enjoy it...also orange juice is my other substitute if I want something sweeter but not too much of it...hope this helps

Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for life without soda. :) One of my Fast Break goals is to stop drinking it and I know it's gonna be a fight. Anyone else trying this?
