I also thought this thing out logically. I did not come into this world sitting at a bar with a camel to my lips. I really don't need the aggravation, the hits to my wallet, the isolation!! I remember my friends would roll their eyes at me every time I would step out of the restaurant, step away from the house party/bbq/sleepover just to light up.

Doing better the last two days. Still need to focus more on keeping busy without wearing myself down.

I understand the stress. I have family come every week; 9 grandchildren. That is a difficult time for me. I have decided to do the best I can at keeping away from the smoke area. I don't beat myself over any slipping. I know it's a tough time. Instead, I try to think of things that will help.

I did do better yesterday. I had a little trouble staying in focus during the morning, but did really well in the evening.

No techniques worked this day. I was distracted from the distractions. Too many people in the house and not enough time to focus on me.

Hoping that tomorrow is better. Tomorrow WILL be better, because I will make it better.

There you go, Brats. I have a list of quick chores to take my mind of the smoking. Each chore should take less than 15 minutes to complete and have no prep. time.

If there is more than 15 minutes before my minimum smoke allowance, then I go to the elliptical with a book. Physical and mental distraction works for me as a long distraction.

I have tried many techniques, some work some don't.

I have cut my count by 40% using a restrictive method. One at a time I removed smoking places until only on remained. If I want to smoke, I go to that spot. I didn't choose an impossible spot like the top of the nearest mountain as that would have forced me to abandon the process. I chose the spot where I could relax with the cigarette with an carbon-filter system would draw in the smoke.

After than point, I chose to step down the number of visits to that smoke spot. I increase the amount of time between cigarettes. I have decreased my count by 10% to date. It is getting harder. My next move is to provide distractions to help take the mind of the clock.
