Thank you.
Yes, OUR meal money is quite limited, too. My husband usually does our shopping-he's really good at stretching the money. If at all possible he buys groceries for me SEPARATE from the rest of the family's (and for himself as well if possible) so my progress isn't hindered. Bless him for that! He knows how hard it is for me to make that scale move! I appreciate him backing me up!

And we all lived happily ever after...

Not really much you can do except what you are already doing. My doctor told me to go on the DASH diet because I am borderline, too. I also have borderline LDL (bad) cholesterol which is even more reason to follow it. No meds for me yet! I don't really follow the diet, but I've got my nutrition tracker set for a low cholesterol diet. I am usually in my range 5 out of 7 days for cholesterol, but go over if I have two eggs, beef, or things with butter in them. I no longer put butter on vegetables or toast. I have the toast with a drizzle of honey or a bit of 100% fruit spread. I make my mashed potatoes with half of the butter I used to. I do not use butter on top of the mound on my plate either, but I do eat them with an abundance of black pepper. I drink skim or 1% milk to reduce the saturated fat, too.

Here are the pdf guides for lowering blood pressure and the DASH diet.

There is a Spark team - Dash Plan for Hypertension - that I thought about joining, but haven't yet. It seems that people post there regularly, so if diet is your biggest issue and you want advice/support that may be an option. We have limited funds for food, so I do the best I can. Sometimes I opt for less healthy options to stretch the money and following a diet can be tricky. This diet is pretty flexible and probably would adapt to the nutrition tracker. I just haven't taken that step yet.

Any suggestions on lowering blood pressure? I'm on the upper end of normal and have been for a year or so. I'm already on a low dose of meds. And I already exercise. I can reduce my salt intake....
What else?

Halfway into March I'm deciding that I'm happy with my level of exercise averaging 30-35 minutes a day. I'm doing great with staying in my calorie range, too. I haven't a clue if I have dropped any pounds yet, because I don't own a scale and haven't seen a doctor lately. I do know that I couldn't zip up my winter coat at the beginning of winter, but I can this month. So I know I'm shrinking in size somewhat. I am at a level which is doable. I cannot allow myself to ease up.

What I want to focus on right now to improve my health is lowering my sodium and upping my fiber. I've already done this a bit, but would like to see more. This will probably mean I need to be more serious about menu planning or at least buying the right kinds of foods. I've been making at least one new dish or baked good a week. I've been searching for new recipes that are both nutrient dense and taste great.

Evaluate the situation. Make a new goal. Repeat.

We can do this!
