I don't really know of any free online courses for science.

I don't use a set curriculum for the younger years, but we always seem to be doing something science related. This year since my OD is doing physical science, so my younger daughter is reading a physical science series from the library and doing related experiments. So far we've experimented with magnets and have grown crystals. We also attempt to do one nature study topic each week, but it ends up being more like bimonthly. This month we've grown paperwhites and identified clouds.

When my son was 8 he was impressed with the organization of the periodic chart. So we read through a series of books about the elements that year. When he was 10 he read Exploring the World of Physics by John Hudson Tiner. So we checked out the CalTech Mechanical Universe video series from the library and watched it with him. He enjoyed learning about science, but not from a formal textbook. Later, he picked the Apologia books since they seemed conversational. He is in grad school for chemical engineering now and says those Apologia books are so much better than any college textbook at explaining concepts.

I use Apologia courses for general science and up when a child seems ready for it. I had my OD do the first half of the general science book for science last year. She was 11 and she enjoyed it. I save the second half for high school health since it deals with human anatomy and physiology. I pair it with Exploring the History of Medicine by John Hudson Tiner. My three older children loved the book. My son read some of the other titles in the series on his own in his younger years. It's a simple, but informative series. We got them used. I think they are rather inexpensive.

I usually do a few creation science related activities each year with my children, and sometimes they end up presenting the topic at the local Homeschool EXPO.

Here is a resource with creation activities.

I've never used it as a unit study though. I just use it from time to time for science and math topics.

Also, Answers in Genesis has a page of online books that you may want to look at.

My daughter who went to college this year especially liked the last book on the page, Wonders of Geology. It has pdfs to print about each wonder.

yep. It's rather important to me. I am an advocate of Creation by a Creator. And I happen to believe that God did it, not aliens, lol.

I began to HATE science WAY back in 2nd or 3rd, maybe 4th grade, when the science book showed the 'development of man' with those apes on all fours to the apes on 2 feet, to the humans. I was SOOOOO confused.
My parents didn't teach me details about God, but they DID give me a large beautiful Bible with illustrations. Adam and Eve were in those.
I had NO DOUBT that God created people and animals separately.
Yet, I had NO DOUBT that my teacher wasn't telling me the truth.

I felt SOOOOO STUPID trying to reconcile these two DRASTIC and OPPOSING 'facts'.

I seriously HATED HATED HATED science.
That makes me so sad, that my years of school were wasted because someone decided to teach evolution in school.

So it's important to me that my kids learn as much truth about Creation as God wants us to know.

That's my story.

I'm lucky enough to have a Christian Sis (yes, really my blood sister, lol) who LOVES Creation and has a Nature Club each week where she teaches area kids to explore nature. My daughters go to those.
Because of her, mostly, my older daughters love to photograph nature.

Someday, I want to write a nursery book and include Creation topics. So babies, from the very beginning of their lives, know that CHRIST is our CREATOR. And our CREATOR values each of us.

Oops - did not realize that. Hopefully some of the others you can do. I really do not use the ones that support it either. I need to look at all of those closely. Thanks for pointing that out.
Blessings,
Julie

Thanks! I just peaked in at mystery science (the link didn't work, so I typed it in.) I got all excited until I saw that it supports Common Core. lol, I'm skipping that one!

Now I'm going to go check out some other ideas! I sure appreciate them, thanks!

This looks good - a free one year course is available right now but won't be for long.

This one - supercharged - if you get on her email she sends out a bunch of free things in her newsletters to do too.

I know these are not online classes but these links will take you to some neat places that have a lot of fun things to do. By asking for you - I have been introduced to some fun sites here.

Khan Academy has a lot of things that you should look into for this and many other topics.

Blessings,
Julie

We use Apologia but I will ask around in my group to see if anyone knows of any free science things. I know a lot of people who use Netflix, YouTube, and things like that for various science things. I bought the Magic School Bus series on Amazon once and it was very cheap. I know it has evolution in it but the series still has a lot of useful things in it.

youtube has some great videos, just look up whatever it is you are studying and you'll find videos on it, just be sure to watch them first before you let your kids watch them as it is youtube and you never know...

Have you ever looked into Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool (or High School)? Two of my girls used science classes offered through them last year.

I've also heard Kahn Academy highly recommended, but from what I understand they have videos to help kids understand specific concepts in various subjects, but don't offer lesson plans or entire classes.
