I think it might be important to "stay on plan" while vacationing. But I also wonder if there's a place for special occasions and taking a rest from the plan. I struggle with this, too. While on vacation, I try to focus on "feeling hungry between meals" and taking as many active choices as possible. . . walking when anyone asks for walking volunteers, playing outdoor games or sledding with the kids or whatever is available. I try to decline food if I'm not hungry. But it's hard, because sometimes eating is socially appropriate, and not eating is weird. So going into vacation having some big-level guidelines but hoping to be flexible has helped. When I'm sick, I just don't think I should be doing anything but sleeping. If I'm not well enough to be on my plan, it's a "chicken soup and sleep!" diet. The tricky time for me has been postpartum. Not ready for the same plan, but needing to find something that works. But I'm not there right now. :)

Well, for me,when I get sick, I get well and try to focus on the eating properly as that is the only way to get back to the routine. Fitness is SECOND after EATING WELL as I have learned .
I was going to the gym4x/week with having a PERSONAL TRAINER and not losing weight{mind you, I was NOT on SP nor aware it existed at the time! Then, when I was introduced to SP by a fellow mom in my M.O.M.S.'Club {Moms Offering Moms Support group} ~when my son was a toddler~ ~ and we were having a Biggest Loser competition,I started tracking MY FOOD and only exercising 1x/week with the TRAINER {it just got too expensive at the gym to have a trainer and time-consuming with a child, I bought home equipment}, I LOST 5 lbs. the FIRST month and 10 the 2nd month but I was EATING RIGHT AND STRENGTH TRAINING REGULARLY~it burns calories LONGER than Cardio~which is what I wanted in the first place!
I maintained my 20 lb. weight loss~for 8 mos. ! Going on vacation meant I had to be VERY SELECTIVE about my FOOD CHOICES and usually, nowadays, every hotel has an exercise gym of some sort to workout in. If there isn't a gym when you are on vacation, just walk around where you are visiting and WATCH DESSERT CHOICES!
If you are talking routine changes at home ~well, I am going to be learning as well as you !
I Homeschool my child and I have been on Christmas vacation for a month! I STOPPED SP when I started Homeschooling my child 5 years ago{and unfortunately stopped regular exercise at the same time ~too tired ~ didn't plan for it~ and made poor food choices~plus no more gym nor trainer! I put the weight back on ~20 +6 extra lbs. in the five years. I KNOW ,however, now that I have done it , I CAN DO IT AGAIN!
I have been on and off SP for 10 mos. and with being on SP regularly for the last 3 weeks, I have lost 5 lbs!
I think I am just going to have to get up EARLIER{when everyone is asleep and no one is on the computer {we only have one } to get my FOOD tracking in and as for exercise, I am trying to create an afternoon habit of exercising when Homeschooling is done.
I hope this info has been of some help. If I can be of any help, let me know! This is a weight loss journey we're all in together and it helps to have support!~Good Luck! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon ~Betsy

I am finally getting some good fitness and nutrition habits down but I'm going to my brothers for a few days this week so my routine will be turned upside down. Whenever I take a trip or get sick is when my fitness plan falls apart and it has always taken me a while to get back on track.

How do you stay on track during times of change?
