We do not celebrate halloween either so no issues with Candy here.

Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing it all for love.

I am abstaining from the sweets too.

We had a church outreach tonight and now I have a bunch of kids over watching Monsters Inc. I put all the candy out on the table for the kids to eat during the movie. My hope is that they will eat every last piece. The parents might hate me but it is an effective way to get candy out of your house.

I thought maybe making a little bag with some dried fruit, granola bars, and a titch of chocolate might be nice.

I didn't think the candy was a big deal to my kids. We announced to the kids that we weren't going to Trick-or-Treat this year (for a variety of factors), and they groaned. They were looking forward to candy, because they hadn't had a lot for a long time since my husband and I had put a "tax" on candy purchases (to try to discourage them from spending their dear little pennies on that nasty stuff). Hmmmm. . . .

We don't celebrate Halloween here - it is Reformation Day instead.
I would suggest getting non-candy items to hand out.
If you don't buy candy - you can't eat it.

In CHRIST I can!

Let us know your best thoughts on navigating this week's candy-fest in this thread! Does it help to be homeschooling? Do your kids help or hurt in the "war on sugar" this week?
